Difference between batch quantity and quantity for sale
Hi all,
I have created a batch in system with weight 340 KG. However, when I make a sales order for that batch, the system picks only 188 KG of it. There is no reserved/blocked etc quantity for the batch. Can you please help me identify where I might be going wrong?
Base Quantity - Quantity of the material to be produced to which the standard values of the operation refer.
Operation Quantity - Quantity planned for this operation.
Base quantity and operation quantity may not always be the same, if we have partial lots delivered during the sequence of operations, the operation quantity will be equal to the lot delivered during the operation.
Base quantity is dependent on the BOM, where it signifies the total quantity of output after using the components of certain quantity.
Hope this may help you.

Difference between SAP MI and CRM Mobile Sales
hi experts,
we need to understand difference between SAP MI and CRM mobiles sales solutions. what are SAP's recommendations: where to use MI and where to use Mobile sales.
can some of you explain the pros and cons of each solution or let me know the place where i get such info.
thanks in advance.
RHSAP MI apps are aimed at PDAs while CRM Mobile Sales is aimed (and can only work with) at laptops.
PDA solutions are mostly used by sales agents while the laptop solution is more suitable to account managers. The laptop has much more information available that includes:
- Marketing planning and execution capabilities
- Account Planning
- BW Reporting
Mobile Sales for PDAs has more basic functionalities like order & activity management and business partner data maintenance (which are also included in the laptop version).

Difference between Batch input and Direct Input
Hi please tell me the difference between Batch Input and Direct Input in BDC?
hi aparna,
<b>DIRECT INPUT</b>
TO ENTER THE DATA INTO THE CORRESPONDING DATABASE TABLES DIRECTLY, THE SYSTEM CALLS A NUMBER OF FUNCTION MODULES THAT EXECUTE ANY NECESSARY CHECKS. IN CASE OF ERRORS, THE DIRECT INPUT TECHNIQUE PROVIDES A RESTART MECHANISM. HOWEVER, TO BE ABLE TO ACTIVATE THE RESTART MECHANISM, DIRECT INPUT PROGRAMS MUST BE EXECUTED IN THE BACKGROUND ONLY. DIRECT INPUT CHECKS THE DATA THOROUGHLY AND THEN UPDATES THE DATABASE DIRECTLY.
TO MAINTAIN AND STRAT THESE PROGRAMS, USE PGM RBMVSHOW OR THE TRANSACTION BMVO.
<b>BATCH INPUT</b>
TYPES SESSION METHOD, CALL TRANSACTION, DIRECT INPUT.
TO SAVE DATA IN THE BDCTAB, USE THE FIELDNAME BDC_OKCODE AND FIELD VALUE OF /11.
BDCDATA
THIS IS A STRUCTURE WHICH CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING FIELDS.
PROGRAM NAME OF TH MOD PROG ASSOCIATED WITH THE SCREEN. SET ONLY FOR THE FIRST RECORD OF THE SCREEN.
DYNPRO SCREEN NUMBER. ALSO SET ONLY FOR FIRST RECORD.
DYNBEGIN INDICATES THE FIRST RECORD OF THE SCREEN. SET X FOR FIRST RECORD OTHERWISE .
FNAM FIELD NAME.
FVAL VALUE FOR THE FIELD NAMED IN FNAM.
THE FIRST STEP IN BDC IS TO UPLOAD DATA FROM THE FLAT FILE OR SEQUENTIAL FILE TO THIS BDCTABLE.
SESSION METHOD
WE USE 3 FUNCTION MODULES IN THIS SESSION METHOD.
1) BDC_OPEN_GROUP
USER NAME: USER NAME
GROUP: NAME OF THE SESSION
LOCK DATE: THE DATE ON WHICH YOU WANT TO PROCESS THE SESSION.
KEEP: THIS PARAMETER IS PASSED AS X WHEN YOU WANT TO RETAIN SESSION AFTER PROCESSING IT OR TO DELETE IT AFTER PROCESSING.
THIS CREATES A SESSION
2) BDC_INSERT
TCODE: TRANSACTION NAME
DYNPROTAB: BDC DATA
THIS CREATES A SEESION AND DATA IS TRANSFERRED O SESSION.
3) BDC_CLOSE_GROUP THIS CLOSES THE BDC GROUP.
ONLY ONE SESSION CAN BE CREATED USING BDC_OPEN_GROUP. BUT MULTIPLE TRANSACTIONS CAN BE PROCESSED USING BDC_INSERT.
CALL TRANSACTION
CALL TRANSACTION <TCODE> USING <BDCTAB>
MODE <A/N/E>
UPDATE <S/A>
MESSAGES INTO <MSGTAB>.
A ALL SCREEN MODE. ALL THE SCREEN OF THE TRANSACTION ARE DISPLAYED.
N NO SCREEN MODE. NO SCREEN IS DISPLAYED WHEN YOU EXECUTE THE TRANSACTION.
E ERROR SCREEN. IF THE SCREEN HAS ERROR RECORD, THEN THAT SCREEN WILL BE DISPLAYED.
S - IF YOU CHANGE DATA OF ONE TABLE THEN ALL THE RELATED TABLES GETS UPDATED. AND SY-SUBRC IS RETURNED I.E., SY-SUBRC IS RETURNED FOR ONCE AND ALL.
A - WHEN YOU CHANGE DATA OF ONE TABLE, THE SY-SUBRC IS RETURNED. AND THEN UPDATING OF OTHER AFFECTED TABLES TAKES PLACE. SO IF SYSTEM FAILS TO UPDATE OTHER TABLES, STILL SY-SUBRC RETURNED IS 0 (I.E., WHEN FIRST TABLE GETS UPDATED
WHEN YOU UPDATE DATABASE TABLE, OPERATION IS EITHER SUCCESSFUL OR UNSUCCESSFUL OR OPERATION IS SUCCESSFUL WITH SOME WARNING. THESE MESSAGES ARE STORED IN INTERNAL TABLE, WHICH YOU SPECIFY ALONG WITH MESSAGE STATEMENT. THIS INTERNAL TABLE SHOULD BE DECLARED LIKE BDCMSGCOLL, A STRUCTURE AVAILABLE IN ABAP/4. IT CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING FIELDS: TCODE, DYNAME, DYNUMB, MSGTYP, MSGID.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SESSION AND CALL TRANSACTION
SESSION METHOD CALL TRANSACTION
1. DATA IS NOT UPDATED IN DATABASE TABLE UNLESS SESSION IS PROCESSED. IMMEDIATE UPDATION IN DATABASE TABLE.
2. NO SY-SUBRC IS RETURNED. SY-SUBRC IS RETURNED.
3. ERROR LOG IS CREATED FOR ERROR RECORDS. ERRORS NEED TO BE HANDLED EXPLICITLY
4. UPDATION IN DATABASE TABLE IS ALWAYS SYNCHRONOUS
UPDATION IN DATABASE TABLE CAN BE SYNCHRONOUS OR ASYNCHRONOUS.
5. ASYNCHRONOUS PROCESSING SYNCHRONOUS PROCESSING
6. TRANSFERS DATA FOR SINGLE TRANSACTIONS TRANSFERS DATA FOR MULTIPLE TRANSACTIONS
ERROR HANDLING IN CALL TRANSACTION
1) CREATE AN INTERNAL TABLE SIMILAR TO THE STRUCTURE OF YOUR LOCAL FILE.
2) CREATE BDCTAB LIKE BDCDATA.
3) CREATE BDCMSG LIKE BDCMSGCOLL.
4) CREATE AN INTERNAL TABLE SIMILAR TO THE 1ST INTERNAL TABLE.
5) UPLOAD FN UPLOADS DATA FROM THE LOCAL FILE TO THE ITAB.
6) LOOP AT ITAB.
POPULATE BDCTAB TABLE.
CALL TRANSACTION STATEMENT.
PERFORM CHECK.
REFRESH BDCTAB.
ENDLOOP.
7) FORM CHECK.
IF SY_SUBRC <> 0.
CALL FUNCTION FORMAT_MESSAGE.
APPEND ITAB2.
ENDFORM.
TRANSACTION FOR RECORDING SHDB.
MAX TIME ALLOWED FOR ONLINE EXECUTION 300 SECONDS.

Difference between batch job and Background Job
Hi Forum,
Can anyone distinguish between batch job and background job for me please ?
SKHi,
Batch Job:
A batch job is a process that runs in the background, often deferred and unattended, to process data in groups (batch) rather than by individual transactions (e.g. a monthly phone bill rather than a bill for each individual phone call). A batch job executes a sequence of programs and technical instructions that are stored in a command file. Progress and error messages are output to a log file allowing users to determine, at any time, if the batch job completed successfully or identify the cause of the problem. Because batch jobs run in the background they are less visible to the end user.
In a business-computing context, batch job scheduling implies the automatic execution of background tasks (batch jobs) at pre-determined points in time (e.g. every day at 8pm, midday on Wednesday).
3 types of batch job scheduling can be distinguished: native, basic and advanced batch job scheduling.
Most operating systems and some business solutions software come equipped with native batch job scheduling tools that provide a limited service (e.g. Windows Scheduled Tasks, UNIX crontab, SAP CCMS) locally to each installation. However, business processes may span multiple platforms, applications, countries and companies. Their complexity may require much more functional power as provided by basic batch job scheduling including national and regional variations in the working calendar, sequence variations according to the day of the month, triggering of jobs by the successful completion of preceding jobs, elimination of gaps and reduced batch windows. Major benefits of basic batch job scheduling are enhanced productivity, operations reliability and cost-reduction. For e-business applications that require real-time processing, the distance between interactive individual processing and batch processing tends to decrease. Advanced batch job scheduling can handle these advanced requirements: event-driven scheduling for a real-time synchronization with interactive processing, just-in-time scheduling to run operations as soon as possible, cross-platform and cross application services for the entire IT landscape, real-time overall monitoring to track background operations for all applications on all servers.
The standard benefits of batch job scheduling are drastically amplified when job schedulers can handle the end-to-end automation and monitoring requirements for all background operations.
To schedule a back ground job follow the below steps:
1. Use Transaction SM36.
2. Assign a job name.
3. Set the jobs priority, or Job Class:
High --- Class A
Medium --- Class B
Low ---Class C
4. Here you can specify, when the job is to start by choosing Start Condition. If you want the job to repeat, or be periodic, check the box at the bottom.
Else click on the immediate and save this.
5. Now,define the jobs steps by choosing Step.
Here you need to give the ABAP program that has been used and the name of the variant thats being used.
6. Save the fully defined job to submit it to the background processing system.(You need to click save button on the main screen i.e SM36)
7. When you need to modify, reschedule, or otherwise manipulate a job after you've scheduled it the first time, you'll manage jobs from the Job Overview.
8. Release the job so that it can run.
The job, even those scheduled for immediate processing, can not run without first being released. So,do remember to release.
Hope this helps you.

Rakesh -
Difference between Batch jobs and background jobs...
hi APO Gurus ....
This may sound a very silly question. What is the exact difference between a batch run and executing a background job ?If i understand correctly your question is executing a program (for example) in background and running in a batch jobs. You can execute a program in background while you are online, go to menu program->execute in background and enter print parameter, schedule parameter. System creates and starts job dynamically. You can check in SM37. Batchjob is you create job using SM36 (with program and Variant) define run frequency. System automatically run job in specified frequency. I my experience, technically both are same, system behaves exactly same. One dynamically creates job other one runs on predefined freq.

Differences between reports LL01 and LS24 for negative stock
Dear friends,
Could you tell me the difference between the reports " Warehouse Activity Monitor" (LL01) and "Stock Per Material" (LS24)..
When the negative stock option is chosen ,LL01 is not displaying certain materials with the negative stock. However these materials with the negative stock are displayed in the report LS24.
What could be the reasons?
Thanks.
Regards,
Krishnan.Hi
There are a couple of things to tell you here.
Firstly LS24 - This shows one material only and you will see where this material is all over the warehouse.
Secondly there is an alternative if you want to see all materials and that is LX02 and in the st type field put *** and you will see everything in the warehouse and if you sort on the available qty field (descending I think but try both) all of your negatives will come to the top of the screen with the largest negative first.
Thirdly LL01 This will only show negative stocks for the storage types that have been included in the configuration for this. Also the negatives in LL01 will only appear after the amount of time you have set in the congiguration whereas in LS 24 you will see them immediately.
So for instabce if you set st type XXX to show negatives after 24 Hours you will not see them in LL01 for 24 Hours but they will be in LS24 AND LX02 immediately.
This does not mean that LL01 is wrong just that youi need to make some adjustments in the config and be clear as to what you want to see and when.
I hope that this helps -
Difference Between Using MVC And SwingUtilities For GUI Component Update

Thanks.Your question is akin to asking, "What's the difference between using a car to get somewhere versus stepping on the gas pedal to do the same job?"
The use of SwingUtilities to update the "view" only pertains to updating components in a thread-safe manner, it has nothing to do with MVC. MVC would govern when the view gets updated (i.e. after the model changes), while SwingUtilties would be used to specify how the view gets updated. -

Differences between SAP BO and SAP for Iphone
Hi,
Can someone tell me where I can see the relation of the releases between SAP Business one and the SAP BO for Iphone. Now testing, the stock of an item, the Iphone application is tell me that the release of the SAP server is not compatible with this funcitionality and I have to upgrade.
The point is that I just upgrade the customer, form 2007 to 8.8 PL19, and I don't really know if I only have to upgra the B1i and in which PL, or I have to meka the upgrade of all the components of SAP BO.
the release of the SAP for Iphone implemented is 1.2.0.
Thanks,
Cristian MorenoHi Cristian,
the recent docu for the App should give you the relevant info ([http://service.sap.com/sapidp/011000358700000483052011E/B1_MobileApp_Guide.pdf|http://service.sap.com/sapidp/011000358700000483052011E/B1_MobileApp_Guide.pdf]).
These latest functions of Version 1.2.0 (like stock per warehouse) of our SAP Business One Mobile Application require SAP Business One backend on Minor Release 8.81, Patch Level 05.
For reasons of backward compatibility mentioned system info has been installed.

Differences between CS5.5 and CS6 for iOS development and export?
I am just curious how Flash Pro CS5.5 is compromised in this regard.
And is it possible to make up any differences by installing an SDK or update package?
ThanksThanks
Why does it have better performance specifically? ... Because of the Air Compiler being newer?
Would it be possible to get the same improvements by doing an "overlay" install of the newer SDK for Air as outlined here....?

Can someone explain the difference between photos app and iphoto for iphone?
I recently downloaded the iphoto app to my iPhone 4s. I am hoping to clear up some space on my iphone and I deleted some pics from what I thought was the camera roll within iphoto. I noticed later that while attempting to change my wallpaper, I noticed that pics I thought I deleted were still on the phone as evidenced by their availability to be used as wallpaper. I checked that I had selected cameral roll and not photostream, where it would make sense the photos would still be there. When I left settings I noticed that I have iphoto and the phots app on my iphone. Do I need both? And if i want to delete photos, do I need to delete photos from the cameral roll within iphoto AND the photos app???? I really need someone to make sense of all this photo business!
The "Photos" application is built into the phone and is meant only for viewing and making small edits (crop, auto-enhance, etc.) to photos in your Camera Roll and other photos synced onto your phone via iTunes.
iPhoto for iOS is a new application which is meant to allow you to organize your photos, share them via sideshows or "journals" and make mode substantial edits (contrast, brightness, sharpness, photo effects, etc.)
Keep in mind that iPhoto or any other app from the App Store does not have the ability to delete photos from your Camera Roll. What you did is probably hit the x icon which hides the photo from your iPhoto library but it remains in your Camera Roll. To delete photos, they must be deleted from the Photos app. Oce they are deleted from your Camera Roll they will no longer show up in iPhoto. -
Difference between batch and lot size
What is the difference between batch size and lot size. How do these quantities relate to production planning & machine capacity planning.
RegardsHi,
Lot size: Some times specific materials are not referred individually but are represented in groups or lots.
When we maintian BOM/production version/routing it is sometime convinenit to maintain compoenent qty / operaion times ect.. for speciifc lots .. we also call them base qty.
we can create different master data for different lot sizes and it is consider in auto selection of this master data in production orders.
MRP can also intiate procurement / production in speciifc lots and this lot size in size is maintained in material master ans lot sizing procedure is maintianed in MRP customiziation.
Batch Size: some times batch size and lot size can be interheprited same in busienss langauge but they have fundamental
difference from SAP point of view. .
In SAP Batch is homoginious non reproducible Unit of material. The batch zise depends on GR qty of the specific batch. -
Difference between Session method and call transaction
Hi,
please give me the differences between session method and call transaction,
briefly explaining synchronus , asynchronus, process, update.
Thanks in advanceHi Vijay Kumar
CLASSICAL BATCH INPUT (Session Method)
CALL TRANSACTION
BATCH INPUT METHOD:
This method is also called as CLASSICAL METHOD.
Features:
Asynchronous processing.
Synchronous Processing in database update.
Transfer data for more than one transaction.
Batch input processing log will be generated.
During processing, no transaction is started until the previous transaction has been written to the database.
CALL TRANSACTION METHOD :
This is another method to transfer data from the legacy system.
Features:
Synchronous processing. The system performs a database commit immediately before and after the CALL TRANSACTION USING statement.
Updating the database can be either synchronous or asynchronous. The program specifies the update type.
Transfer data for a single transaction.
Transfers data for a sequence of dialog screens.
No batch input processing log is generated.
http://www.sap-img.com/abap/difference-between-batch-input-and-call-transaction-in-bdc.htm
Among the two methods call transaction is better compared to session bcoz data transfer is faster in it.
Differences between call transaction and session.
Session Method:
1) Data is not updated in the database table until the session is processed.
2) No sy-subrc is returned.
3) Error log is created for error records.
4) Updation is always synchronous.
Call Transaction Method:
1) Immediate updation in the database table.
2) sy-subrc is returned.
3)Error need to be handled explicitly.
4) updation can be synchronous as well as asynchronous.
2) ya u can use using the N mode no screen.
3)u can't handle multiple transaction in call transaction.
4) u can handle multiple transaction in session using the BDC_INSERT fm.
5)When u go to SM35 u can able to see the error records.
Which is best?
That depends on your requirement. Both of them have there advantages.
According to the situation u can choose any one of these.
difference between batch input and call transaction in BDC Session method.
1) synchronous processing.
2) can tranfer large amount of data.
3) processing is slower.
4) error log is created
5) data is not updated until session is processed.
Call transaction.
1) asynchronous processing
2) can transfer small amount of data
3) processing is faster.
4) errors need to be handled explicitly
5) data is updated automatically
For session method, these are the function modules to b used.
BDC_OPEN_GROUP
BDC_INSERT
BDC_CLOSE_GROUP
For call transaction, this is the syntax.
CALL TRANSACTION TCODE USING BDCDATA
MODE A or E or N
UPDATE A or S
MESSAGES INTO MESSTAB.
Take a scenario where we need to post documents in FB01 and the input file has say 2000 records (2000 documents, not line items in FB01 but 2000 records)
In the BDC call transaction method
We call the transaction FB01 2000 times (once for each record posting) and if the processing fails in record no 3 it can be captured and start with reocord 4.
Eg: Loop at itab.
call transaction FB01
capture errors
endloop.
In the session method.
We do not explicity call the transaction 2000 times, but all the records are appeneded into a session and this session is stored. The processinf of the session is done wwhenever the user wants it to be done. Hence the errors cannot be captured in the program itself
Check these link:
http://www.sap-img.com/abap/difference-between-batch-input-and-call-transaction-in-bdc.htm
http://www.sap-img.com/abap/question-about-bdc-program.htm
http://www.itcserver.com/blog/2006/06/30/batch-input-vs-call-transaction/
http://www.planetsap.com/bdc_main_page.htm
Batch Input Session method is asynchronous as told by others here. But the advantage of this is that you have all the error messages and the data for each transaction held persistantly. You don't have to code anything for processing them or writing the logs.
But at the same time, the same feature can be disadvantageous if you need to react to an error or if there are too many errors to manually correct in a session. Since the session are created in the program and its execution is done seperately, you loose the trackability of such transactions.
With a call transaction, what was a disadvantage above will become an advantage. Call transaction immediately gives you messages back and you can react to it in your program. But the disadvantage is that, if you have several hundreds of transactions to run, running them from within the program can be resource crunching affair. It will hamper the system performance and you cannot really distribute the load. Of course, you have some mechanisms with which you can overcome this, but you will have to code for it. Also, storing the messages and storing the errored transaction data etc will have to be handled by you in the program. Whereas, in batch input session, your program's job is to just create the session, after that everything is standard SAP system's responsibility.
Ideally, you should do a call transaction if the resources are not a problem and if it fails, put the errored transaction into a session.
You can decide based on the data volume that your BDC is processing. If data volume is high go for session else call transaction will do.The call transaction updates will be instantaneous where as session needs to be processed explictly after creation.
Session Method
1) Session method supports both small amount of data aswell as large amount of data
2) data processing is asynchronus and data updation is synchronus.
3) it process multiple apllication while perfomaning validations.
4) in session method data will be updated in data base only after processing session only.
5) system provide by default logfile for handling error records.
6) it supports both foreground aswell as background process
in bdc we use FM ...
bdc_open_group " for creating Session
bdc_insert " adding transaction and bdcdata table for updating database
bdc_close_group " for closing Session
Call Transaction
1) Call transaction exclusively for small amout of data
2) it supports only one apllication while perfoming validations
3) there is no default logfile, We can explicitly provide logic for creating logfile for handling error records.
we can create logfile by using structure....BDCMSGCOLL
4) it doesn't support background processing.
5) data processing is synchronous and Data updation is Synchronous( default), in
this method also supports daya updation in asynchronus process also.
syntax:
Call transaction <transaction-name> using BDCDATA
mode <A/N/E>
update <L/A/S>
messages into BDCMSGCOLL.
BDC:
Batch Data Communication (BDC) is the process of transferring data from one SAP System to another SAP system or from a non-SAP system to SAP System.
Features :
BDC is an automatic procedure.
This method is used to transfer large amount of data that is available in electronic medium.
BDC can be used primarily when installing the SAP system and when transferring data from a legacy system (external system).
BDC uses normal transaction codes to transfer data.
Types of BDC :

Whts the difference between call transaction and session
hi,
can u plz tell me the differnces between call transaction method in BDC and session method.
my doubt is even the call transaction method also can me scheduled using job scheduler then why do we need session methodHi
