Difference between config in administration mode and expert mode

Hi,
We can make changes to FPM-based component configuration via administration mode (SE80, menu bar Web Dynpro Configuration > test > Execute in Administration Mode) or expert mode (user parameter FPM_CONFIG_EXPERT = X), to, for example, add a new tab (main view) to a sap standard application (after enhancing the sap std component config).
I understand that in expert mode any changes are regarded by the system as modifications (as opposed to customisation with administration mode) and hence these modifications could be overwritten by future support pack application.  Correct?
Is there any advantage to using expert mode over administration mode, given that expert mode config could be overwritten?
Thanks in advance,
JP.

Hey Baskaran,
Thanks for your reply and further info, I appreciate the dialog between us on this, it helps me and I hope it helps others, as I know from personal experience today that some SAP developers themselves are not clear on the diffrerence.
With regard to your comment "In both ways the modifications are not lost or overwritten" I quote from the fuller explanation on "Fitting Webdynpro..." I posted earlier in this thread, with the excerpt "Changes made in expert mode are modifications that are overwritten when a new release or enhancement package is imported. Expert mode allows configuration for an application to be launched from that application." of particular interest:
"The concrete layout of a Web Dynpro application is determined by the application configuration and the configurations of the embedded Web Dynpro components. These configurations can be adjusted or changed at any time. Floorplan Manager uses the concepts for changing Web Dynpro applications that have been prepared by Web Dynpro ABAP:
Changes to the Web Dynpro built-in and component-defined configurations are stored in administrator mode as delta information in the Customizing layer of Web Dynpro ABAP. Changes in administrator mode are modification-free changes. This is because when a new release or enhancement package is imported, only the Web Dynpro development layer is affected.
In expert mode, changes to the component-defined configurations are stored directly in the Web Dynpro ABAP development layer. Changes made in expert mode are modifications that are overwritten when a new release or enhancement package is imported. Expert mode allows configuration for an application to be launched from that application.
The configuration editor for Floorplan Manager is available to you for making changes. This editor can be launched in the Web Dynpro Explorer or from the runtime of the application. For more information, see Calling Up a the Configuration Editor."

  • Difference between "change auth data " and "expert mode" in pfcg

    Gurus ,
i need to know , what is the difference between
    "change  authorization data "
    and
"expert mode for profile generation" in PFCG .
and what is the significance of the three options that we get when we choose expert mode ?

    Hi Susin,
To change the authorization data for the transactions assigned to the role, choose Change Authorization Data or Expert Mode for Profile Generation.
If you are generating the profile for the first time, there is no difference between the two modes.
When you change a role, you must regenerate the authorization profile. In this case, the status of the profile generation is displayed red or yellow at the top of the Authorizations tab page.
If the status display is red, you must perform an authorization data comparison, since the menu was changed since the last profile generation or no authorization data exists.
If the display is yellow, the authorization data for the role was changed and saved after the last generation. The generated profile is no longer current. You need to regenerate it.
The significance of the three options that we get when we choose expert mode is as follows:
Choose one of the options to maintain the authorization values (in normal mode, the correct option is automatically set):
1> Delete and recreate profile and authorizations
All authorizations are recreated. Values which had previously been maintained, changed or entered manually are lost. Only the maintained values for organizational levels remain.
    2> Edit old status
The last saved authorization data for the role is displayed. This is not useful, if transactions in the role menu have been changed.
3> Read old status and compare with new data
If you change transactions in the role menu, this option is the preconfigured. The profile generator compares the existing authorization data with the authorization default values for the menu transactions. If new authorizations are added during this process, they receive the status New. Authorizations that already existed receive the status Old.
Note the following during the comparison:
Values for organizational levels that are no longer required are deleted, all others are retained. If new organizational levels are added, you need to maintain them.
The standard authorization for the object S_TCODE is always automatically filled with the current transactions from the role menu. It cannot be copied or manually changed, only deactivated.
    Thanks,
    Saby..

  • Difference between config toll and visual admin

    HI all,
Please let me know all Difference between config toll and visual admin.
and Purpose and how to start.
    Thanks & Regards,
    satish k

    Hi Satish,
SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 provides three basic tools for administration u2013
    Visual Administrator,
    Console Administrator, and
Config Tool (both Visual and Console).
There are some other tools namely DBTool, Library Tool, RMIC Tool, Shutdown Tool, and User Tool also used.
    First part
Difference between config toll and visual admin:-Visual Administrator is a graphical user interface (GUI) that enables administration of the whole cluster, of the cluster nodes, and all modules running on them.On the other hand with the help of Config Tool you are able to add and configure SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 cluster elements.Again Config Tool can be used without a running SAP J2EE Engine 6.20. The only requirement is to have the server installed on the local machine.
Visual Administrator is written in the Java programming language and can be run in any environment where a Java Virtual Machine is available. On the other hand Config Tool is XML-based, which enables third-party visualizations to be developed or integrated as part of a more complicated configuration system.
Visual Administrator enables remote monitoring and management of the cluster, and for each cluster element, and enables the system administrator to monitor all managers and services working on each node in a single GUI & its online.cofig tool on the otherhand offline.
    Second part Purpose
"Visual Administrator":-with the help of this tool you can able to login & logout from the server. It gives you all the details regarding different services running in your SAP server. As already mentioned that with the help of VA we enables administration of the whole cluster, of the cluster nodes, and all modules running on them.
"Config Tool":-Config Tool enables you to run the server in remote debug mode.
Again Config Tool enables you to add dispatcher and server nodes to the SAP J2EE Engine 6.20 Cluster. With the help of config tool we are enable to modification of service or manager module properties.
    Third part Start procedure

  • Administration differences between an As Java system and an As ABAP system?

Hi, I'm not that familiar with SAP systems that are As Java based only, so apologies in advance if I ask real stupid questions here!!
Can someone please explain how one logs onto an As Java only system?... ie without the ABAP stack does one still use the SAP logon pad or am I getting confused here totally???
Also how does one do transports in an As Java system?
If you could send me a document that explains the main differences between an As ABAP system and an As Java system, particularly the differences in administrating these systems that would be very useful. My email address is [email protected]
    Many thanks
    Ash

    Hi,
Can someone please explain how one logs onto an As Java only system?.
You can login through browser, use NetWeaver Administrator for most of your activities. There is also Visual Administrator/ Config tool etc these have seperate GUIs.
It would not be easy to list out the options but i suggest you read understand info from help regarding the details below so that you can administer Java servers:
    Visual Administrator
    NetWeaver Administrator
    Config tool.
    SDM
With the knowledge of the tools above you can start of administrating Java servers.
Also how does one do transports in an As Java system?
You install Portal on Java server and then do transports. You should be having a system administration role.
Please do a search in help.sap.com and you will find loads of data on WEBAS Java administration.
    Thanks & regards,

  • What is difference between TEXT mode and BINARY mode?

    Hi,
What is difference between TEXT mode and BINARY mode? In TEXT mode what is "ENCODING DEFAULT".
    OPEN DATASET wl_filename FOR INPUT
                              IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
      OPEN DATASET wl_filename FOR INPUT
                              IN BINARY MODE .

    Hi vishnu,
    1. files like .TXT files are considered to be text,
and other files like .EXE . DOC etc are binary files.
    2. In text files, after each line, there are two
       internal binary characters
one for line feed and another one for newline.
    3. But, we don't have any meaning for it,
when we view such files in notepad, for eg.
Hence, to only get the understandable content,
we should open such TXT files, in text mode.
(we can also open them in binary mode,
but we will get two extra characters after each line,
and such two extra characters are meaningless
      for interpreting the text)
    4. In binary mode, each byte by byte is considered,
       without any meaning.
    regards,
    amit m.

What is the difference between LTE mode, CDMA mode, LTE/legacy 3GGPP mode, and Global mode in Preferred Network?

        Great question alczervik!
    LTE- is our 4G network.
All CDMA/LTE Legacy are going to be related to our 1X, 3G/ EVDO network.

    hi saikumar
In Oracle Reports Designer, character mode, the

ONE FONT/ ONE CHARACTER SIZE. Character mode reports
generate ASCII output. In ASCII you cannot dynamically

  • Difference between bridge mode and routed mode on CSS

    Hi,
Could some one tell me the difference between routed mode and bridge mode.
    Regards
    Neha

    Hi,
    routed mode:
The CSS acts as a router, it routes packets from the client to the server. The server has the ACE configured as default-gateway.
There is a client-side VLAN and a server-side VLAN. These VLANs have different subnets.
    Bridged mode:
The CSS acts as a bridge, it switches frames from the client to the server. The server has the upstream router configured as default-gateway.
There is a client-side VLAN and a server-side VLAN. These VLANs have the same subnet, but different VLAN IDs. The ACE bridges the client traffic from the client-side VLAN to the server-side VLAN.
Bridged mode would be most used in case one cannot change the servers IP addresses, or if address space is an issue.
    Hope this helps.
    Kind regards,

  • Simple Maintaince and Expert mode.

    Hi gurus,
I am currently on Om project.
1)I want to know difference between the Simple Maintaince and Expert mode.
    2) Organisational and staffing screen is in which one simple or expert mode.
    3) can u tell me how to make the structures by both methods and what transactions will be used.
    4) what it means by expert mode edits the characterstics of objects and use infotypes how?
    preeti

    Hi Preethi,
Simple maintainence is an easy way to maintain the org structure.
An org structure can be created, maintained or displayed by any of the following methods.
Organization and  Staffing , General Structures ,Expert mode or Simple maintainence.
    T- Codes for
    Organization and  Staffing  :
    Create PPOCE , Change/Maintain : PPOME , Display PPOSE.
    General Structures :
Create :PPSC , Change :PPSM ,  Display : PPSS
    Expert mode :
    PO10 : Org Unit
    PO03 : Job
    PO13 : Position
    PO01 : Work Center
    PFCT : Task Catalog
    PP01 : General
    Simple Maintainence :
    Create : PPOC_OLD
    Change : PPOM_OLD
    Display : PPOS_OLD
In Org and Staffing and Simple maintainance You could create all the objects(S,P,O,C,K) from a single screen and maintain relationships between those objects.
In Expert Mode : Specific transactions are used to create diff object types .Here you could find the OM infotypes .
There is much more to say butto begin with you could use these transactions and explore .
Please feel free to ask any more questions.
    Thanks,

  • What is the difference between a tablespace, a segment and an extent ?

What is the difference between a tablespace, a segment and an extent ? Please explain in layman terms since I'm a total newbie to Oracle.
    Regards
    Gony

    Hi,
These are logical structure of database
    1. Tablespace : A database is divided into logical storage units called tablespaces, which group related logical structures together. For example, tablespaces commonly group together all application objects to simplify some administrative operations.
    2.Segments
Above extents, the level of logical database storage is a segment. A segment is a set of extents allocated for a certain logical structure. The following table describes the different types of segments.
    Segment Description
    Data segment
Each nonclustered table has a data segment. All table data is stored in the extents of the data segment.
For a partitioned table, each partition has a data segment.
Each cluster has a data segment. The data of every table in the cluster is stored in the cluster's data segment.
    Index segment
Each index has an index segment that stores all of its data.
For a partitioned index, each partition has an index segment.
    Temporary segment
Temporary segments are created by Oracle when a SQL statement needs a temporary work area to complete execution. When the statement finishes execution, the extents in the temporary segment are returned to the system for future use.
    Rollback segment
If you are operating in automatic undo management mode, then the database server manages undo space using tablespaces. Oracle Corporation recommends that you use "Automatic Undo Management" management.
    3. Extents
The next level of logical database space is an extent. An extent is a specific number of contiguous data blocks, obtained in a single allocation, used to store a specific type of information.

  • Difference between cleared items, open items and all postings (FI).

    Hi experts,
Can anybody tell me the difference between cleared items, open items and all postings for an account.
While running corresponding bapis and transaction FAGLL03 (for GL) or FBL1N (for accounts payable) i found that in some cases all postings is less than cleared items or open items for a time period. How could it happen.According to my knowledge all postings should contain cleared items and open items.
    Please correct me..
    Thanks and Regards
    Arjun

    Hi Arjun,
For every Billing Documnet created(VBRK/VBRP-VBELN) there will be an accounting document created in BSID/BSAD tables.
OPEN ITEMS means the Billed/Invoice Amounts that are pending from Customers, i.e which we have to receive from Customers.
CLOSED ITEMS means the AMOUNTS received from that customer.
OPEN ITEMS : fetch data from BSID table Only
CLOSED ITEMS : fetch data from BSAD only.
ALL POSTINGS : fetch data from both BSID and BSAD.
    Hope this will help.
    Regards,
    Nitin.

  • The Difference between Extending a Wireless network and WDS?

I have an Extreme (n) and an Express (n).
I want to make sure the signal is strong upstairs and share a printer (connected to the express) and use AirTunes. I also may add an external drive to the Extreme.
What's the difference between Extending a Wireless Network and using WDS? Will there be a speed difference?
Message was edited by: J. Christopher Edwards

I think you don't get it
If I have another draft N router that operates at 2.4G and I have only n devices I can still use WDS and it will connect using draft n in the 2.4G band.
If one g device connects to the network will go in mixed mode.
The AEBS will still report 130 Mbps for your n clients and 54 for your g clients.
If the other router is g only obviously you can't connect between the two router at n mode but still the AEBS will be in mixed mode and not in g. The Extreme will still report 130 Mbps for the connected n clients.
I can tell you that because I have actually implemented it am not taking off the documentation.
The same device if I try to use the "extend n network" does not even see the AEBS but will happily keep the n in the WDS mode and though the bandwidth is halved it is still more than g.
In any case enough for this!

  • Difference between Business service, Business system and Business process

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me the difference between Business service, Business system and Business process?
    Thanks,
    Harikumar. S

    Hi,
    <b>Business system</b>
It is a logical system from a business point of view.
One or more logical systems that belong together from a business point of view is called a group of Business system group. A business system group represents a unit within a company or organization that can be defined according to legal, economic, administrative or geographic factors.
The objects in a business system group are uniquely identified by a uniform numbering system.
    <b>Business process</b>
Business procedure within an enterprise that uses resources and can involve activites from a number of different cost centers in a controlling area.
When executing a business process, activities can be utilized for several cost centers of a controlling area.
    <b>Business service</b>
    It’s a third party system.
All these belong to a Business Scenario which is
Description of the flow of business processes according to a business typology. A business scenario represents a template for a business process, which runs within a particular area of a company process. All processes required to completely process the task are listed in chronological order in the scenario. Business scenarios can be described graphically, in either aggregated or detailed form (EPC). Example: Direct sale to industrial recipient
