  • Difference between Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition for Oracle RAC

    Hi,
In our current setup we have RAC on standard edition and client is now planning to go for Enterprise Edition but not yet decide because of cost.
Is there any difference between Grid Infrastructure 11gR3 Enterprise edition and Standard Edition ?
They told me to first install Enterprise Edition and then will move to Standard Edition if they can't get the EE license so in that case do i have to re-install Grid infrastructure for standard edition?

There is no "Grid Infrastructure 11gR3 Enterprise edition and Standard Edition", is only Grid Infrastructure 11gR2.
About Oracle Clusterware (Grid Infrastructure) licensing.
At least one of the servers in the cluster is licensed for Oracle Database (SE1, SE, or EE)
A cluster is defined to include all the machines that share the same Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) and Voting Disk.

Note : Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC), is an option to Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition and included with Oracle Database 11g Standard Edition (on clusters with a maximum of 4 sockets).
If you move to Oracle EE you must purchase a separate licence to use RAC option
    About Installation:
Nothing changes on your current setup of Grid Infrastructure 11.2
Just install a new fresh installation of Oracle Database (On current clusterware) chosing E.E during Install. Configure the database/services to start from this new ORACLE HOME. Nothing change on Database all previous backup and features used still unchanged. Using this new Oracle Home new features are enabled to be used by your databases.

  • Difference between Report Template "Standard (PPR)" and "Standard"?

What is the difference between Report Template "Standard (PPR)" and Report Template "Standard"? What does PPR mean and what makes it different? Why would you use PPR rather than just standard?
    Thanks,
    Linda

    Hello,
PPR (Partial Page Refresh) is just a term used to describe some AJAX pagination and sorting functionality, it's just a holdover from before the term AJAX existed.
You can just change the template and on your report to enable that functionality. In 3.0 it will just be on off switch in your pagination options.

  • Difference Between Enterprise and Personal Editions?

    Hi All,
I want to install Oracle 9i on Window XP Pro. I am wondering what is the difference between the Enterprise Edition and the Personal Edition? Do they both come with the Enterprise Manager clients that I am used to using?
    Any advice much appreciated.

    Hi Alex,
You can get the information from the "doc" directory in the "disk1". If case you do not have it, I had copy it here for you. Hope it can help you to know more about the differences before choosing which one to install. I too have the tough time deciding until I came across this information.
Enterprise Edition: If you select this type, Oracle Universal Installer installs a preconfigured seed database, networking services, licensable Oracle Options, database environment tools, the Oracle Enterprise Manager framework of management tools, including Console, Management Server, and Intelligent Agent, Oracle utilities, and online documentation. It also installs those products most commonly used in data warehousing and transaction processing environments.
Standard Edition: If you select this type, Oracle Universal Installer installs a preconfigured seed database, networking services, Oracle Enterprise Manager framework of management tools, including Console, Management Server, and Intelligent Agent, and Oracle utilities.
Personal Edition: If you select this type, Oracle Universal Installer installs the same software as the Enterprise Edition installation type, but supports only a single user development and deployment environment that requires full compatibility with Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition.

Perhaps if you asked about a specific error instead of a vague question about the differences between two obsolete editions of Oracle, you would have received a response more to your liking.

  • Differences between ias editions

    Hi,
we are contemplating moving our 9i ias to 10g.
we are running j2ee applications, primarily based on servlets and we need forms services / reports services.
my question is: will we be able to run our j2ee app on the ias forms service edition?
the opposit is not possible i guess.
i've tried some pilot installations of our j2ee apps on the forms service edition and they seem to run. but are there any problems i haven't discovered.
basically what are the differences between the java and the forms service edition apart from the one being able to run forms and the other unable.
    br
    kim gabrielsen

    Hello 18332,
from a technical point of view there should be no problems to run your j2ee application in the forms edition. The Java Edition and the Forms Edition using the same OC4J (J2EE container). But this isn't allowed due to Oracle licensing agreement. If you want to run your J2EE applications, Forms and you only licensed the Forms edition then you have to license at least the Java Edition additionally. If you licensed the Enterprise Edition then you can run Forms and J2EE together.

  • Difference between Productive edition and Developer edition

    Hi,
what is the difference between SAP NW CE 7.1 installed in Developer edition and Productive Edition.
1)If we are planning for a three system landscape like SAP ERP instances with dev-qas and prd which edition
should we be going ahead with ?
    2) In productive edition, can't we install sap nw developer studio like we can do in developer edition.
    3) In a 3 tier landscape can we have a mix of editions ie DEV with developer edition and PRD in production edition..
    Please reply.
    Regards,
    Sandeep

    Hi,
The difference is mainly that the productive edition is compliant to the usual SAP system layout(sapmnt/saploc shares, users, groups, etc.) while in the development edition these are skipped. From the functional perspective they should be identical.
In addition I AFAIK 32 bit windows is generally not supported for production (because of memory management issues) while 64-bit is not supported for development (IDE).
    On your questions:
    1) I guess development for developers, production for the rest.
    2) I don't think the dev studio is supported on 64-bit.
    3) No problem here. However if you're about to need system copy (for example to clone productive system data into dev/qa environment) it will not work for development edition. Have this in mind when you plan your landscape.
    Hope this helps !
    Best regards, dido

  • Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? Difference between Enterprise and SE?

We’re seeing the following issue: sql - Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? - Stack Overflow (posted by a colleague of mine) and are curious to know if this behaviour is due to a difference between standard and enterprise, or could we doing something else wrong in our DB config.?
We have also reproduced the issue on the following stacks:
Oracle SE One 11.2.0.3 (with Spatial enabled)
    Redhat Linux 2.6.32-358.6.2.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu May 16 20:59:36 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
11.2.0.3.0 Standard Edition and 11.2.0.4.0 Standard Edition (both with Spatial enabled)
Microsoft Windows Server 2003R2 Standard x64 Edition
However, the SQL works fine if we try it on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 *Enterprise* Edition.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Kindest Regards,
    Kevin

In my experience sdo_filter ALWAYS uses the spatial index, so that's not the problem. Since you did not provide the explain plans, we can't say for sure but I think yhu is right: Standard Edition can't use the bitmap operations, and thus it'll take longer to combine the results of the two queries (because the optimizer will surely split this OR up in two parts, then combine them).
BTW: when asking questions about queries here, it would be nice if you posted the queries here as well, so that we do not have to check another website in order to see what you are doing. Plus it will probably get you more answers, because not everyone can be bothered to click on that link. It would also have been nice if you had posted your own answer on the other post here as well, because my recommendation would have been to use union all - but since you already found that out for yourself my recommendation would have been a little late.

  • Exporting Multichannel MXF: Difference between adaptable and standard tracks

    Hello:
I have to export a mxf file with 4 channels:
    -1st channel: program stereo (L)
    -2nd channel: program stereo (R)
    -3rd channel: program stereo (L)
    -4th channel: program stereo (R)
I have a master stereo .wav, when creating the sequence, what is the difference between these two options?
    1:
-Making all the tracks standard, putting the master both in 1st and 2nd tracks
    -A1: output 1+2, A2: output 3+4
    2:
-Making all the tracks adaptable, putting the master only in 1st track
    -A1: output 1+3, A2: output 2+4
I don't understand what does Premiere do with adaptable tracks, how does it distributes the master's two channels?
    Thank you very much

    Ok, interesting update!
I opened two new projects in CS5, and imported the "problem" CS3 P2 export footage.  One project was preset to 1080p 24, the other set to 1080i 60.  Still pixelated in the 1080p, but clear in the 1080i project, only when paused.  Still pixelates when playing, even though resolution in the project window is set to full during both playback and pause.  That's good enough for me! It would appear that even though the footage was shot in progressive mode, it still needs to be a 1080i project.  Also, simply opening the CS3 project in CS5 and allowing automatic conversion opened the door to failure.  I read somewhere that CS5 is more strict about formats than prior versions, and it appears to be true.
Also, I've read that DVCProHD footage out of the HVX-200P is not really progressive, regardless of 24p mode settings.  That also seems to be true, based on this experience.
I'm still going to burn a BD-R just to make sure, and if I feel like blowing a second BD-R, I'll test the 1080p project export as well.  Hopefully, this thread can help others with similar footage.  I'm still curious what changes in the CS5 coding manifests this issue, where it didn't in CS3.  I imagine that will only be answered by one of the developers that wrote the code, or another Adobe employee that knows via said developer.

  • Difference between Enterprise Standalone and Enterprise on Weblogic Server

    Hi,
If I test my process on Standalone Enterprise Server and then test the same process on Enterprise Server on Weblogic (WLS), will there be any difference in my testing.. Will I receive different results or the results would be the same?

    Hi,
In Studio,in project preferences in General you have a check box that says something like Development for J2EE,that you should check if you are going to deploy to WLS or WAS. But there is no reason why something develop for StandAlone is not going to work in J2EE.
