Difference between Export and Adobe PDF presets..?

Hi,
It is possible to export a PDF from InDesign (CS3) using both the Export menu and the Adobe PDF Presets menu (both are sub-menus under File)
Technically they seem to do exactly the same thing, both allow you to use predefined presets to export your PDF.
What I am wondering is, are there any differences between the two? And if so, what are they?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

PDF Presets are what they are Presets. You may get a joboptions file from someone to use and use the PDF Presets to load the joboptions (pdf options) file into the Presets.
Then they become available in the Export Options.
Alternatively you can go into the PDF Presets and then choose to Save one of your presets to file, then email that or give the file to someone else to load onto their computer in their version of InDesign.
This way you can both have the same PDF export options.
But the presets are just a way to create, save, load and edit profiles that are available when you go to Export to PDF.

what is the difference between reset and adobe reset??

Reset and Reset (Adobe) will have the same effect unless you have changed the defaults.
For raw files LR uses its own defaults as the starting point for developing an image. For example, if you don’t apply your own import preset the standard default settings under detail are:
    Sharpening:
    Amount 25
    Radius 1.0
    Detail 25
    Masking 0
Some users like to adjust these and make the tweaked settings into their own defaults. After making the desired adjustments in Develop simply hold down Alt and the reset button changes to Set Default.
Clicking the button will save the new default settings. This can be useful if you have more than one camera and wish to use different defaults for each.
To get back to the standard defaults simply hold down shift and click Reset (Adobe)
    Restore
You can also restore the default settings globally in the develop module from the top menu:
    Develop >> Set Default Settings
Then click the button "Restore Adobe Default Settings"
The standard defaults will then apply again to all future imports. For photos already in the catlaog where a non-standard default has already been applied you would need to adjust them manually using Shift+Reset (Adobe) but after adjusting one, it is then possible to sync all the others.

  • Difference between "Export" and "Export form Fact Table" package

    Hi experts!
Could you tell me what is the difference between "Export" and "Export form Fact Table" package?
    Tkanks
    Gabriel

    Hi,
Basic difference between Export and Export from Fact Table is
In standard package "Export" : We can perform this function when we are online and we have adequate amount of data to be exported. We can run this package eg: weekly or monthly. Here we use u201CExport Packageu201D to pull the data
And in the administrative package "Export from Fact Table"   Mostly it is used to do the backend data loading  basically bulk data , also any formula logic has to be implemented on the data in that case we use the administrative package.
    Hope this helps.

  • What's the difference between Export and Publish to Disk?

    Hi folks,
I am wondering what's the difference betewwen "Export" and "Publish" to the local Disk?
    Greetings from Germany
    JK

Export is a one-way process, no connection back to the original images.
Publish creates a connection that allows you to see what images have changed (in LR) since they were first published. Very useful for on-going projects such as images for a book that you may still be editing.

  • Difference Between Export and Direct Import Process.

    Hi SD Gurus,
Can anyone help to understnad difference betwenn Export and Direct Import Process.

    Hi,
export = out of the system or country
import = into the system or country
    For example in SAP-ABAP
    On the EXPORT side
    DATA: ls_indx TYPE indx.
    ls_indx-aedat = sy-datum.
    ls_indx-usera = sy-uname.
    ls_indx-pgmid = 'ZNAME'.
    EXPORT tab = lt_orders
    TO DATABASE indx(v1)
    FROM ls_indx ID 'PERCENT'.
    On the IMPORT side
    DATA: ls_indx TYPE indx.
    ls_indx-aedat = sy-datum.
    ls_indx-usera = sy-uname.
    ls_indx-pgmid = 'ZNAME'.
    IMPORT tab = lt_orders
    FROM DATABASE indx(v1)
    TO ls_indx ID 'PERCENT'

  • Difference between InDesign and Photoshop PDFs for printing?

Hi, rather new to the whole printing business, forgive me.
I have both InDesign and Photoshop, but I am better versed in Photoshop. Is there a significant difference between the capabilities for saving a PDF for print between the two? Also, would someone else be able to tell which program I made the PDF with?
    Thanks in advance.

Like most operations, one tool or the other is more appropriate according to the makeup of the task. It's not just about which PDF is somehow "better," (there are many ways to produce PDF's, and the quality of output isn't necessarily directly dependent upon the originating application), but rather which tool is the correct one for the job.
For instance, a movie poster can certainly be done completely in Photoshop to good effect. But, if I was laying out the pages of a textbook, where images and longer passages of paragraph-based text were to be mixed, the typographical and document assembly capabilities of InDesign would be indispensible. That's just an example. The very essence of art and design is learning and devising ways to use the available tools alone and in combination to produce a particular result, effect, or solution.

  • What is the difference between Brackets and Adobe Edge Code?

Adobe Edge Code is a distribution of the Brackets open source project optimized for professional web designers and developers. This build of Brackets includes community and Adobe-built extensions that are not part of the Brackets open source project. If you are a Creative Cloud member, this is version is made special for you.
But, we're just getting started. Currently we have support for the free Adobe Edge Web Font service. The next release will add support for previewing directly on devices as you develop with Edge Inspect CCM and we'll be adding more integrations over the next few months.

  • Differences between Preview and Acrobat Pdf for some files

    Good morning,
My name is Roberto and I am from Venice (Italy).
I'm a new Mac user (I need to use windows for my work because the softwares are only made for win).
The problem (I think it is a problem of SL):
I upgraded my MBP17 and iMac24 to SL.
Last week I noticed that the file linked below showed a different color on the table background.
The original background is orange (if you open the file with acrobat reader) while it is grey when you use Preview.
Go to page 100 to see the differences.
    https://wwwsapp1.suva.ch/sap/public/bc/its/mimes/zwaswo/99/pdf/44022_i.pdf
    Thanks.
    Roberto

Hi Seems a similar problem here too. Saving CMYK files in illustrator as pdf to mail to customers. A navy color in the file displays as grey in Preview Mail and Quicklook, but it prints correctly to our Xerox DC12 and opens fine in Acrobat with the same navy blue as viewed in illustrator CS4.
We tried making the colour a spot not process same problem.
We have tested this on an iMac with 10.6.1 with CS4 and a PowerMac with 10.6.1 with CS4. It seams to be in Snow Leopard only. The color displays on Leopard correctly in Preview, Mail and Quicklook.
Is any one else having Preview colors displaying wrong?

  • Apparent differences between Exported and Exported Catalog images

In trying to recover from a 'shot self in foot' error when managing some images, I have exported some selected images from Lightroom V3 and also performed an 'Export as Catalog' step. The hard disk destinations for the 2 exports are different. To my surprise the images also appear different and are of different size. The export of selected images appears to create the result I expect - that is when browsing the exported images (within PhotoMechanic for example) the images I see are what I expect. But the images that are exported as part of the export as catalog appear to have discarded all the 'retouching' I did to them in the Develop module ( when browsed in the same way).
Is this because the changes that I made as part of the retouching are kept within some sort of catalog files when I export as a catalog, but are written into the image file when I export a selection of individual images? I notice that there are no sidecar files in the folder where Lightroom is holding the images.
(By the way I am dealing with TIFFs produced by scanning 40+ year old slides in an Epson V700 scanner. The workflow I have been using is the cause of my original 'shot in foot' issue.)

    Ah! Thanks for this.
In fact the original form is what I really need, as well as the edited form. (I was not aware that this is how I could get to that original form). Perhaps a litlte more background will help:
I started with a folder of master/original scanned images on 1 drive and then did a physical copy to a 2nd drive. I imported the images . in place - into Lightroom from this second drive, with the intention of leaving the master/original versions untouched. I have been using 2 diffeent scanning applications: Epson Scan and Silverfast Ai. At some stage I started to import directly into Lightroom from the master/original folder on the first drive instead of from the copies on the second drive. I also further fouled things up by scanning images directly into the Lightroom managed folder on the second drive, instead of into the master/originals folder. Having then done some editing I am in the confusing situation of having 'orginal' and edited' images on both drives.
Now what I want to is to put all unedited images only into the master/original folder on the first drive and be sure that the Lightroom library contains all the edited images as well as imported copies of images that I have not yet had a chance to edit.
It is clear now from your advice that I can recreate my 'master/original/images throuhg the 'export as catalog' process. But it is not clear that I can capture all of the edting that I have done already. I have stupidly stored some of those edits in the wrong folder.

  • Printed color difference between Pages and Adobe InDesign.

    Dear members:
I have created documents in Pages that I later decided to re-create in InDesign.
One problem I noticed is the fact that colors printed on paper don't look the same. I basically copied the RGB values used in Pages for the different colors and used these same values in InDesign. Although on screen colors look the same, on paper they look quite different. In case this information is important I am using an Epson printer model R1800.
    Any ideas ?
Thank you again for your help.

  • Difference between "Export" and "Save As..."

...in QT Pro (or MPEG Streamclip, or any other video software for that matter)?
    Cheers

MPEG Streamclip doesn't have a Save As as much as if you start with MPEG 1 or 2 you can "convert" to MPEG and it will not recompress but rewirte your edited file with a new timecode.
All else it does reencode, e.g. to DV or MPEG-4 unless you are demuxing, in which case you get the two files from the one, video and audio.

What's the difference between PNG and JPG for exporting .idea files from the Adobe Ideas app?
What situations are better to export to to .PNG or .JPG?
    J

iPad apps are designed specifically for the iPad and will not run on the iPhone or iPod Touch. iPhone/iPod apps will run on the iPad, but will only take up an iPhone sized portion of the iPad screen (though you get a 2x button which effectively doubles each pixel in both directions so may appear pixelated). There are also 'universal' apps (which have a '+' symbol against them in the store) which have processing in them to recognise the device that they are on and will tailor the display accordingly (so will make use of the iPad's larger screen).

  • Difference between Export QT and Export Using QT Conversion?

I am exporting video from FCE4 into iDVD, and can't understand the difference between Export QuickTime Movie and Export Using QuickTime Conversion.
The first is much faster, but the video seems to suffer in quality. Am I missing something?
    Thanks!

"Export Using QuickTime Conversion" gives you many more options
(and many more ways of making mistakes); and it always recompresses.
Using "Export QuickTime Movie" gives you the option to uncheck
the "Recompress" box, which should produce a better result,
    if you're not changing codecs.
