Difference between Extreme Base Station vs. Express Base Station ?

I use an Ibook with an Airport Extreme Card. I use it wirelessly to my Phone Companies (Windstream here in New Mexico) wireless modem with antenna they provided for me. My question is...I am unable to pick up a good signal on the other end of our house...Do I need a base station or an Airport Express or Extreme Base station to help with a longer distance between my Ibook and the wireless modem? Not sure what the difference is? We have a guest house that is rented on weekends to tourists...I want them to pick up a frequency from my wireless modem that is over at our place. Does it matter which base station I get? In order for the signal to get stronger between homes. And does one base station eliminate the need to have my wireless modem? Thanks in advance- Jeff

Unfortunately, very few non-AirPort wireless routers will work with AirPort base stations to extend the wireless network in a Wireless Distribution System (WDS). However, if your wireless modem (which sounds like a gateway) also provides wired LAN ports, you could connect an AirPort base station to it and then extend the network, wirelessly, with additional ones. You can create a WDS with all AirPort Extreme Base Stations (AEBS), all AirPort Express Base Stations (AX) or a mix of both. (Note: The new AEBS, to be available in February, does not appear to have WDS functionality.)

No. However, it's important to understand that a WDS does not "boost" a signal, only re-transmits it at the same throughput as it receives it.
And does one base station eliminate the need to have my wireless modem?
Unfortunately, no. The AirPort base stations do not incorporate a DSL or cable modem.

I wil tell you with example. In bmm layer, amount_sold is there and it is aggregated.Suppose, if you want to reuse that aggregated column, we cannot. At that time, create a new logical column ,goto-->expression builder-->select the logical fact table-->logical column(i.e,amount_sold).By doing this, we can reuse that amount_sold column.

Logic Studio: Logic Pro 8, Soundtrack Pro and MainStage.
So yes, Logic Pro 8 is part of the 'Logic Studio' package, which also contains the two other apps.

Moving between Extreme Base Station and Express Base Stations with Mac & PC

I just bought an Airport Express and connected it as an extension to my Airport Extreme Base station. All firmware has been updated as of today. I have things configured such that the Extreme is WEP but allowing for extension and the Express is working. My Macbook appears to be connecting to the Express now but it seems like I have to use the Utility to select either the Express or Extreme base station manually as opposed to having it just go to the strongest source automatically. Maybe I made an assumption that it worked like an access point. Moreover, the laptop PCs in the house are not making the jump to the Express at all. I can install the Utility on one of them and probably manually make the change but the other is a Corporate PC that is 'locked down.' And of course that is the one that I want to be able to use around the house.
Does anyone know if:
1. There is an ability to bounce between the Extreme and Express like access points on the Mac and the PC
2. Is there a way to configure a PC to use the Express or the Extreme without the Utility (i.e., if I setup the Express with a different Network name)
The key issue is that I do not have the ability to run an ethernet between the two base stations - they can only connect wirelessly.

Do you have the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) configured as a WDS main and the AirPort Express (AX) as a WDS remote?
Or are they both 802.11n capable and the AEBS is configured to have the extend network feature is enabled and the AX configured to act as an extension?
In either of those cases, they are working together as one big wireless network. In that situation, any client will connect to the base station which appears to be the "best" connection for them.
There is no need to install the AirPort Utility on any device. Any device with 802.11b/g/n wireless ability can connect to the network.

Airport Extreme / TimeCapsule and Airprot Express base stations

So if I use an Airport Extreme (using 802.11n) for my main internet access, can my Airport Expresses join that network to maintain access to stereos and printers around the house.
I guess Im asking can the 802.11g devices join an 802.11n network....? Any help would be good news.

The side effects of having to use the b/g compatibility mode will be a slight decrease in the speed that your wireless network would get in n-only mode. Of course, none of this is important unless all of your computers are capable of "n" connections so that you could even contemplate running an n-only network.
If you are currently able to max out out internet connection speed (that your ISP claims you should be getting) with a direct ethernet cabled connection between a computer and your DSL modem, then there is no need to change your DSL modem.

Both will give you same functionality
ACE-4710-BAS-SK-K9 is a basic kit/bundle
that Includes:
- ACE 4710 Hardware
- ACE Software
- 1 Gbps Throughput License
- 1,000 SSL TPS
- 100Mbps Compression
- 5 Virtual Devices
Where as
"ACE-4710-K9 with ACE-AP-01-LIC" is kind of La Carte option
ACE-4710-K9 is the ACE Appliance Hardware includes(1K SSL TPS, 5 contexts, 100Mbps comp)
With it you need to select two mandatory options
ACE Software :ACE-AP-SW-XX Software Version XX
Throughput License :("ACE-AP-01-LIC" 1 Gbps OR "ACE-AP-02-LIC" 2 Gbps )
Then you can select optional licences for

If you are planning to connect using wireless only, the AirPort Express will handle up to 10 clients. You will be able to create one wireless network with the AirPort Express, so older "slower" devices and newer "faster" devices will all share the same network. The older devices tend to slow down the faster devices in this type of setup.
If you are planning to also connect some of your devices using ethernet, the AirPort Extreme has 3 ethernet ports for devices. In addition, the AirPort Extreme creates a "dual-band" wireless network. You'll have one "fast" network for newer devices and a "slow" network for older devices. Both bands will have the same wireless network name so this will all happen seamlessly as computers and devices will automatically connect to the "best" band. Slower devices will not slow down the faster devices in this type of setup.
The AirPort Extreme also has a Guest Network feature, which allows you to setup a separate network for "guests". They will be able to connect to the internet, but they will not be able to "see" any of the computers or devices on your private network.
The AirPort Extreme will allow you to connect a hard drive for file storage, which all computers on the network can "share". The AirPort Express cannot accommodate a hard drive.

Difference between Logic Pro and Logic Express?

A buddy wants me to show him how to use Logic Express. I'm fairly up on Logic Pro, have used it for years. I'm wondering if I can get a trial version of Express to try out for an hour before embarrassing myself in front of him?

There is very little difference, mostly in content (Jampacks, Waveburner, Mainstage..and a few of the high end plugins). Other than that they're functionally identical. same audio engine, you wouldn't know the difference just by looking at them.

This would have all the same integration issues I mentioned for ADF: no flexfields, no personalization, profiles, and so on. If you are building a completely separate app that happens to use EBS tables, you could use APEX, but you'd have to handle a lot of stuff that OAF does for you.
BTW, keep in mind that most of the EBS apps handle validation in the UI layer (for Forms) or BC4J, or PL/SQL. You'd need to be sure you handle validation as well so you don't fill your tables with bad data.

I see, thanks for the response. I have Extreme 105 right now and get about 135/24. Any idea what the up speed is on the Blast? Probably not worth the extra $30 for the diff..
