Difference between Flash And AIR

Hi,
Actually, What is the difference between Flash and AIR

At a very high level, Flash Player is a plugin used by browsers to display Flash content typically hosted on a server.  AIR is a runtime that displays a superset of Flash Player content, but does so in an application format installed on the users system or device.  In addition, there are differences in how the two interact with the file system and security policies.

Looking for new laptop what are the differences between pro and air? Besides size. Does the air preform like the pro?

The NEW macbook Pro and Air are EXTREMELY close in form factor
The newest macbook Pro is essentially a larger macbook Air with Retina display and options for speed in increasing prices up to an independent graphics and quad core processor.
both Air and new Pro now have PCIe SSD and permanent RAM.
The Air is the lightweight portable form factor, fast to boot and shut down, but with longer battery life than any of the macbook pro in 13"
Now the new macbook Pro and macbook Air are extremely close in form factor and nature.
    both have 802ac wifi
both have permanent RAM, no superdrive
both are slim profiles and SSD
The only real differences now are (in the most expensive Pros) faster processors and quadcore processors and top end model autonomous graphics.
....and of course the retina display
both are now "very good for travel"
Other than features the form factor of the Air and Pro are VERY close now,....so now its merely a matter of features and price more than anything.
You need an external HD regardless of what you get for backups etc.   Drop into an Apple store and handle both and make your choice based on features, such as Retina or non-retina, .... both at a distance now look like the same computer.
The Pro weighs more, ....but nowhere near what it used to just a month ago on the older macbook Pros
The NEW macbook Pro is a different creature entirely than the older macbook Pro, .....the new Pro is thicker than the Air, but id frankly call the NEWEST Pro a "macbook Air with Retina display" , or
Maybe a “macbook Air PRO with Retina display”
Instead of Air VS Pro now,.....its really a smooth transition from Air to pro without comparing say, 2 different creatures, now its like contrasting a horse from a race horse.
Either one in 8gig of RAM (preferably)... the 4gig upgrade costs very little,  the I7 you will notice only 15% faster on heavy applications over the I5, and NOTHING on most APPS.....I5 has longer battery life.
As you see below, the non-Retina 13" AIR is 82% of the Macbook with Retina display in resolution
there is no magical number of pixels per inch that automatically equates to Retina quality.

A huge internal SSD isnt a game changer for anything, you need an external HD anyway
what you WONT READ on Apple.com etc. is that the larger SSD  are MUCH FASTER due to SSD density

  • What's the difference between flash and premier

I know Flash is usually used for game production and Premier for video creation, but I saw poeple also can use Flash for video production as well. So I need to know what are the differences between the two of them.

Flash is used most often for animation, and especially interactive animation.
Premiere is used for video production, but with certain limitations, such as version support, or lack of it, can work with Flash animations.
There is some cross-over, just as there is with Premiere and After Effects, but each program has specific uses.
Good luck, and that is the very short answer. Others will likely be able to give you a point-by-point difference between Flash and Premiere.

  • Getting Big Headache, What is difference between Flash Lite 3.1 and Flash Player 7

Hello, I am asking questions about the two similar yet different programs for Pocket PC version only:
    1) Which came first, Flash Lite 3.1 or Flash Player 7?
    2) If I have both in my Pocket PC, will there be product incompatibility?
    3) What is the difference between Flash Lite 3.1 and Flash Player 7.
    4) I have a Flash Lite 3.1 but uninstall information says "Flash Lite 3.1 for Opera Mobile", did you releaase this? Is this an illegal copy? A developer's copy?
*I don't know exactly where I got it, but I got it from the HTC developer's forum: XDA-developers.com
*I also use Opera mobile, a web browser for Pocket PC's.
    5) What is difference between Flash Lite 3.1 and Flash Lite 3.1 for Opera? Is the only difference is that Flash Lite Supports everything flash related, while Flash Lite Opera supports only flash in opera?
Hi, I don't expect all answers, but I hope someone or someone from adobe support can clear some things up for me.

The program under my "remove programs" list is specifically called "Adobe Flash Lite for Opera". The XDA forums people said along time ago that it was Flash Lite, and kept calling it Flash Lite, and not Flash Player 7.
    Now what about this:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashlite/version/
The table shows the differences between FP 7 SDK, FL 2.1, and FL 3.1. And it's quite obvious that FL 3.1 has way more features than Flash Player 7. What does SDK mean? And why are you telling me FP 7 has more features?
With this information, can you or anyone else provide any more details and clarification?

  • What's the Difference Between Flash Player and Shockwave?

    Hi,
I was wondering what's the difference between Flash Player
and Shockwave? And how do you know which one isn't working? I
downloaded and installed Flash Player successfully but it did say
that the plug ins might be in another file and may not work
properly. There is one game that will work, but most everything
else doesn't. I don't get pictures (like adverts, ect.) in my
    email. What is the problem?

I have found this site helpful. Adobe has a "Test Adobe

    Hi everybody!
    Could you help me?
    this is my question:
What's the difference between Flash Builder 4.5 and Flash Builder 4.7?
I'm going to develope a new app using Flash Builder 4.5 but the new version is available... What could I wait about it?

The only listed change is the addition of support for the new Nike + iPod system (more information about the Nike products can be found here).

  • Difference between fl and flash libraries?

(new to cs3 - java expert...)
I'm trying to write some action script to set the default
focus of a text component when the applications run...
It seems there is a fl.managers.FocusManager that
could/should do it... but for some reason, I cannot import that
package into my AS. I can import an arbitrary
    flash.<something>.somthing.
Question - In the AS editor, there is a menu (plus sign (+)
icon) with all(?) the available packages/classes, languange
constructs, etc. Should I be able to use them all? Is there a
difference between "fl" and "flash" - assuming "fl" is for Flash
just like the product logo "fl"?
    thanks a bunch.

    Craig,
    > Is there a difference between "fl" and "flash" -
    assuming "fl"
    > is for Flash just like the product logo "fl"?
The fl packages are top level classes based on ECMAScript,
    while the
flash packages are specifically Flash Player APIs.

    [fl.managers.FocusManager]

Are you writing timeline-based code, or a class file? Have
    you tried
the sample code shown in the FocusManager entry of the
    ActionScript 3.0

  • What is the difference between SWF and F4V in the context of Streaming or progressive Download?

    Hello everybody,
I am absolutely a beginner in working with Captivate and furthermore my technological know how is not that good.
So, I have problems to understand if the export formats SWF and F4V are both capable to be published in the Internet as streaming video and as progressive Download? Well so, I do not really understand the difference between streaming and progessive download either?
Furthermore I was asking myself if this issue depends on how I imported flash videos (there are these two options) in my Captivate project during the production phase?
I would be very thankful for some helping information!
    Greetings,
    Mareike the beginner

    Welcome to our community
I'm not certain I fully understand the differences myself, but will toss out what I believe to be true about the formats. Hopefully, if I'm incorrect in my bellief, someone with more definitive knowledge will chime in.
It was explained to me a couple of years back and is my understanding that "streaming" only applies to a video based format such as F4V, FLV and it doesn't apply to SWF. With SWF, you may specify a preload value. So when the SWF transmits from the web server to the PC, a certain percentage has to be received before play begins. But that's not streaming. It's preloading.
For streaming to occur, the web server establishes a communication channel between the server and the destination PC. This channel is monitored to see what speed is in use. Only enough information is then transmitted to be comfortable at that speed. If the speed improves during the connection, the server serves data at a faster rate. If the connection degrades, the information transmitted is also scaled back so as to accommodate the lower speed.
With SWF, after it has all been downloaded, a savvy user is able to poke around in their temporary internet files and save the SWF for play later. With streaming, this isn't possible because as the stream is viewed, it evaporates from memory.
Seriously hoping others will chime in here to confirm or deny this.
    Cheers... Rick

  • What's the difference between thunderbolt and mini displayport?

I'm trying to connect my Macbook with a monitor and I'm thinking of what cable to get. I will have to connect using a (Thunderbolt to HDMI cable) or a (mini displayport to HDMI cable).
I was wondering what's the difference between Thunderbolt and mini displayport
    Thanks

@bontistic: it is not true that only the Macbook Air supports Thunderbolt. All models(!) support thunderbolt: also the Macbook Pro's and Mini's. Eg.: http://www.apple.com/nl/macbookpro/features.html#thunderbolt
My Macbook Pro from 2011 already supported Thunderbolt...

  • What is the difference between Apple Ipad Air Model

What is the difference between Apple Ipad Air Model # MD788LL/A and Model # MD788LL/B

These models both use the same i7-3820QM processor, so difference(if any) is probably not in CPU(only stepping can be different, but intel site shows only E1). GPU is also the same(again, 'revision' or something may be different). doesn't seem that RAM is different either, it's 1600 DDR3L(only timings and power consumption can differ, but it's unlikely). SSD - cannot say anything from specs. Screen[manufacturer]? Googling shows nothing for me. And only visible difference(apart from model number) for me is price. As I'm considering purchase, I don't want to spend more money to get different number.

  • Differences between standard and pro versions

I was reading the comparision of these two Acrobat versions and for Pro it says:
Edit and enhance photos to add to your PDF communications with Adobe Photoshop® CS5.
Quickly transform static PowerPoint slides into compelling, interactive PDF presentations with Adobe Presenter
Rapidly combine screen recordings, narration, video, slides, and more into a rich media experience with Adobe Captivate® 5
Does that mean that the Pro version includes Photoshop, Presenter and Captivate programs as well? Or, what are the differences? As an aside, the new look and feel of the Adobe website is confusing at best. Seems geared to being flashy, not useful.
    Regards, David

Acrobat does not included those other packages. One of the pages that always struck me funny (maybe I have a twisted mind) but has this artistic background is the updates page. The background looks like a lacy bra to me. It is the first thing that comes to mind every time I see it. That is a problem with abstract images (that are typically unnecessary and waste bandwidth), that a lot is in the eye of the beholder. Actually, I have heard from many others that also see the bra.
OK, back to Acrobat. There are several aspects of Acrobat that allow you to have links to the other products built in, but they are not included. The page at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobatpro/buying-guide.html?promoid=JIJYS provides some info, but a lot is missing. For instance there are differences with PDF Optimize and Reduce File Size I think (sorry, I do not have Std to check). One important one that is part of pro is the preflight option. Apparently Std does not include portfolios or allow PDF comparison according to the chart.
If you are into forms, then Std apparently will do them as AcroForms (my preference, partially because of familiarity), but does not include Designer if that was your preference. Some of the enabling for Reader is not available in Std. Also, Std does not allow embedding Flash. Std is limited for some of the products that include PDF Maker (not a big one for me, but might be important to you).
That is a quick summary based on the chart. However, be aware there are some other features that the chart does not seem to cover. For the difference between Std and Pro, I would suggest getting Pro. The big hit is the initial cost of the product, not the step up to Pro. In a business plan consider the time that might be wasted trying to do some of the things in Pro that are not in Std. Those are the types of issues to consider. Many folks consider the cost to be large, and for a small business it is. However, in the long term it may be worth the cost.
Keep in mind that many large CAD packages in engineering run about $30,000 for a single license, half the cost of the engineer that would use it. Some other tools are about $15,000. In that view, Acrobat is cheap (except for cheapskates like me).

What's the relationship between Flex and AIR?
I only know that Flex is a Framework and the AIR is a runtime,
Can any one tell me more about these two object in detail, thanks a lot!

AIR is a runtime that supports a superset of the Flash Player API. You use it to run mobile and desktop applications, as opposed to browser apps.
Flex is a set of technologies for building either AIR apps or browser apps. It includes a framework of runtime classes (e.g, Button, DataGrid, etc.) to use in your applications, an SDK with a command-line compiler, and an IDE called Flash Builder (formerly Flex Builder) that supports intelligent editing, a design view, and a debugger.
So, a brief statement of their relationship is that you can use Flex to build AIR apps.
