Difference between folder autopopulating and snapshot
in project explorer while adding folder there are two options
Folder Autopopulating and Folder Snapshot what is difference between them
regards
mazhar
By design, LV does not allow you to directly delete files from autopopulating folders. You can do it from the File tab in the project window, but only by right clicking on it and selecting "Delete from Disk". You can however rename files from either tab.

Difference between 'materialized vews' and snapshots
Hello,
i have two questions:
what the difference between 'materialized vews' and snapshots? In fact, in create thoses Oracle Objects:
create materialized view log on T1
Create materialized view T1_MV
Build immediate
Refresh fast on commit
As Select COL1,COL2 from T1
Create snapshot T1_SNAPSHOT
Build immediate
Refresh fast on commit
As Select COL1,COL2 from T1
and in find that T1_MV and T1_SNAPSHOT have the same caracteristics in dba_tables and DBA_SNAPSHOTS and DBA_MVIEWS.
seconde question: what's the difference between DBA_SNAPSHOTS
and DBA_MVIEWS tables?
I work under oracle 9i
thinks for response.Backwards compatibility. Some apps might reference DBA_SNAPHOTS and it would be a PITA to change them. Eventually Oracle might decide that it's a greater PITA for them to keep those views and ditch 'em.

What's the difference between "controlfile autobackup" and "snapshot contro
Hi All,
What's the difference between "controlfile autobackup" and "snapshot controlfile" in RMAN configure ? Both are controlfile backups, what the difference between the controlfiles they backup ? Why there are two of these options ?
thanksRMAN creates a control file snapshot to perform catalog resync operations. Control file autobackup will automatically create a backup of the control file whenever there are database structure changes.

Difference between SSA2.0 and 2.1
Hi,
Is there any note that explains the major differences between 2.0 and 2.1 both in terms of data model and SSA UI settings? I see that a few of options I had in 2.0 are missing in 2.1.
Thanks,
VoodiHi Voodi,
There are 2 parts to your question.
Primary Role - This concept does not exist in SPM 2.1 This was used in 2.0 to specify which Browse menu (Content Tree) to display. In SPM 2.1 there is only one Browse menu (Content Tree).
Data Source - This concept still exists in SPM 2.1 This is used to determine which 'Dimensions & Measures' are displayed when user wants to create new reports.
So in your case (when using a SPM 2.1 system) you would select the detail data source to create a new detail report and save it under the 'Detail Report' folder, next under measure properties select a specific measure -> under Detail Reports tab you select the detail report created to link it to this measure, provided you are an administrator.
So basically the functionality still exists to create a new detail report and link it to a measure.

List of differences between PSE 40 and PSE30
A lot of users are asking what are the differences between PSE 30 and PSE 40.
This Thread provides information on this subject. First, you will find information copied from the section "New Features" of the useful "Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 User Guide". Then later on, you might find additional information on the same subject provided by users of PSE.
--- Start of copy of information in the PSE 4.0 User Guide ----
1 What's new in PSE 4.0
1.1 Editing and selection
1.1.1 Magic Selection Brush tool
Easily and accurately select portions of your photos using this new tool in either Standard Edit and Quick Fix. Simply scribble or place dots on the object you want to select -no need to precisely outline the object- and Adobe Photoshop Elements selects the object for you. You can add to or subtract from the selection by using additional tools in the options bar. (See User Guide "To use the Magic Selection Brush tool" on page 193.)
1.1.2 Magic Extractor.
Easily select an object in a photo and extract it from its background. Just scribble or place dots on
the object you want to extract; then scribble or place dots on the background, and Photoshop Elements separates the object from its background. This tool is perfect for creating composites or scrapbook images. (See User Guide "To use the Magic Extractor" on page 194.)
1.1.3 Skin tone adjustment
Click an area of skin and watch the tonal balance of all colors in the photo improve. If you
want, you can also manually adjust the color by using color sliders. (See User Guide "To adjust the color of skin tone" on page 224.)
1.1.4 Red eye removal
Automatically remove red eye during import, or select one or more files and easily remove red eye
in either the Organizer or the Editor. (See User Guide "To remove red eye" on page 249.)
1.1.5 Defringe
Automatically remove the colored specs or halo around the edges of a selection. (See User Guide "To defringe a Selection" on page 200.)
1.1.6 Straighten tool
Straighten and crop crooked photos by drawing a horizontal or vertical line in the image. Photoshop
Elements aligns the photo to that line. (See User Guide "To straighten an image" on page 243.)
1.1.7 WYSIWYG font menu
What you see is what you get -see what each font looks like from within the font menu. (See
User Guide "To choose a font family and style" on page 332.)
1.2 Sharing and printing
1.2.1 One-click printing (US, Canada, Japan only)
Order prints and professional hardbound photo books directly from Photoshop Elements simply by dragging the items to the Order Prints palette. (See User Guide "To use the Order Prints palette (US, Canada, Japan only)" on page 401.)
1.2.2 Slide shows on TV
If you have Windows¨ XP Media Center 2005 installed, you can view your Photoshop Elements
slide shows on your TV and navigate using your TV remote control. (See User Guide "To output a slide show" on page 354.)
1.3 Tagging and organizing
1.3.1 Face tagging
Select a group of photos and let Photoshop Elements isolate and display all the faces so that you can
quickly tag them. The Find Faces dialog box displays thumbnails of each face until you tag it. (See User Guide "To automatically find faces for tagging" on page 101.)
1.3.2 Search by metadata
Search for a variety of metadata criteria, such as file name, file type, shutter speed, camera
model, date, and tags. You can search on multiple criteria at once. (See User Guide "To find photos by details (metadata)" on page 89.)
1.3.3 PDF support
Manage and tag PDF files in the Organizer. PDF files remain intact as one file that you can tag. Open
the PDF in the Editor to extract individual pages. (See User Guide "To open a PDF file" on page 148.)
--- Continuation in next Post of this Thread ------- Continuation from previous Post -----
2 What's changed in PSE 4.0
2.1 Editing and selecting
2.1.1 Crop tool
Freely change image size boundaries while cropping an image. When you're happy with your crop marks,
click the Commit button , which is now conveniently located at the bottom right corner of the crop border. (See User Guide "To crop an image" on page 240.)
2.1.2 Paragraph text
Create paragraph text by dragging a border with the Text tool. The text you enter inside the border
wraps to remain inside the boundaries. (See User Guide "To add text" on page 329.)
2.1.3 Quick Fix
Use the newly enhanced automatic correction options for the most common photo flaws. (See User Guide "To correct color in Quick Fix" on page 207.)
2.1.4 Easier color management
Easily get the color you expect when printing. N ew options and improved embedded
profile support streamline color management. (See User Guide "About color management" on page 236.)
2.1.5 Advanced camera raw
Fine tune exposure and lighting by working with the raw data from your digital camera, and
easily export photos to the universal DNG format. (See User Guide "About camera raw image files" on page 159.)
2.1.6 Artifact reduction
Quickly remove noise caused by shooting in low light or with ISO camera settings by using the
new Remove JPEG Artifacts option in the Noise filter. (See User Guide "Reduce Noise" on page 289.)
2.2 Sharing and printing
2.2.1 Multimedia slide shows
Create feature-rich slide shows with all the new tools and options available in the Slide Show
Editor:
a) Gracefully move from one image to another by adding interesting transitions between each slide. You can choose from over 50 transitions, such as dissolves and doors. (See User Guide "To add and edit transitions" on page 352.)
b) Add text and graphics with the click of a button. (See User Guide "To add text to a slide" on page 348 and "To add clip art graphics to a slide" on page 347.)
c) Make your slide show feel more like a video by panning and zooming your slides. For instance, you can pan from a face on the left side of an image to a face on the right side of the image. (See User Guide "To set pan and zoom" on page 350.)
d) Add background music, make the duration of your slides match the duration of your audio, and narrate your slides all with the click of a button. (See User Guide "To add music to a slide show" on page 347 and "To add narration to a slide" on page 350.)
e) Quickly reorder or edit your slides without leaving the Slide Show Editor. (See User Guide "To reorder slides" on page 346.)
f) Preview anytime by clicking the Preview button, and then output your slide show by burning a DVD (if you have Adobe ' Premiere' Elements installed), sending it in e-mail, sharing it online, or sending it to your TV. (See User Guide "To output a slide show" on page 354.)
2.2.2 Photo mail
Turn plain e-mail into theme-based Photo Mail with enhanced and easier to use captions. (See User Guide "To send a photo using Photo Mail" on page 407.)
2.2.3 Desktop wallpaper
Create original desktop wallpaper using multiple photos. (See User Guide "To use photos as desktop
Wallpaper" on page 367.)
2.2.4 Creations
Create your own cards, calendars, and photo albums, and then print them on your printer, upload them
to the web, or burn them to CD. (See User Guide "About creations" on page 343.)
2.3 Viewing, tagging, and organizing
2.3.1 Faster download
Use the enhanced Photo Downloader to quickly download photos from your digital camera and
mobile phone, even when Photoshop Elements is not running. (See User Guide "To get photos from a digital camera or card reader" on page 62.)
2.3.2 Full Screen and Side By Side View
View your photos in full screen without the clutter of command menus and tools.
(See User Guide "Viewing photos at full screen or side-by-side" on page 76.)
2.3.3 Automatic organization and view options
View your photos as arranged automatically by date, or use the intuitive
Date View or the enhanced Folder Location view. (See User Guide "To sort files in the Photo Browser" on page 71.)
2.3.4 Address book
Import your addresses from Microsoft Outlook address book or vCards. (See User Guide "Using the contact Book" on page 404.)
2.3.5 Captions
Add captions to multiple photos at once. Open and edit audio captions by simply clicking the Audio
icon in thumbnail view in the Photo Browser. (See User Guide "To add captions to files" on page 123 and "To add audio to a photo" on page 124.)

What's the difference between reguler KDE and KDEmod?
Hello all,
In two weeks I get my new laptop, which will be capable of running Arch and KDE ( as my current computer isn't, somehow it only runs Fedora w/ Gnome)
Since I really like Arch and already got it working on Virtualbox, I want to install it on my new laptop. I'd like to get it working with KDE, but I noticed Arch also has KDEmod. I already searched the forums but couldn't really find an answer to my question: What is the difference between regular KDE and KDEmod and which one is better for me to use?
Thanks in advance!Allan, i forgive you for your poor paragraph construction and sorry for me being a bit peeved
However, i know you have read more from the IRC log than just that one sentence by me...
Allan wrote:
From the IRC log, I do not think that conclusion is too far off, especially if you are considering Arch-Stable as your base... So saying "plain wrong" seems... well... plain wrong. Especially given the irc log:
<funkyou> in one sentence: to do what we really want to do, we need a stable platform.
So why not showing the whole picture and clear this up:
<funkyou> ok, to start: i think at least some of you have noticed that arch linux is a fine platform for what we want to deliver, but there are some little "annoyances"
<funkyou> mainly:
<funkyou> -.so bumps every few weeks
<funkyou> -the general "freshness"
<funkyou> -a lot of manual interaction needed (sometimes)
<funkyou> everyone can see these problems when looking at the forums, _most_ of them are related to updates
<funkyou> in one sentence: to do what we really want to do, we need a stable platform.
Makes more sense now? Its not that Arch is too unstable, its just that we cant keep up will all the changes... And this is not Archs "fault" nor anyone elses fault, its just going too fast for us. Most annoying or severe bugs in our tools are there due to upstream updates. And the reasons are not really the .so bumps (which are mostly solved by a simple rebuild) but also constantly changing apis and stuff. This is not a big problem in KDE (they keep their apis clean), but a big one when it comes to other stuff like parted, to give an example. And this is our main problem, we need to constantly adapt our code to upstream changes.
This even resulted in a repo with modified or "frozen" Arch packages just to keep our liveCD going, and now we are looking for solutions for this problem, and "stable" snapshots seem to be one way... Oh, and if we would do this (there is nothing announced yet), we would do our own snapshot every X months because ArchStable seems to be a dead project. We also considered cooperating with the ArchServer guys, but their stuff is really made for servers, so even while their project is really nice its not really an option for us.
Well, we'll see what we will do during the next months, now we are still testing and evaluating some solutions... Oh, and people, please stop any "we dont need another ubuntu" complaints... -
Difference between application.cfm and application.cfc
Hi,
Can anybody explain the difference between Application.cfm
and application.cfc?
For example:
I have Application.cfm and Application.cfc in the same
folder.
/folder/application.cfm
/folder/application.cfc
/folder /test.cfm
…. And I run the test.cfm.
Which one is executed first?
Thanks,
KrishnaYour last question - Which one is executed first?
The application.cfc will be executed first if you call the
test.cfm. The application.cfm will not get executed.
and, about ur first question... cfm and cfc are entirely
different. You have onRequestStart, onRequestEnd and other events
on cfc. cfc is powerful than cfm. -
Difference between File adapter and FTP adapter
hi,
I would like to know what is the difference between File adapter and FTP adapter
thanks
YatanBoth file and ftp adapters are non-concurrent jca adaps, however we go for file adapters mostly when you have files on your local environment and do not need to wait for someone to FTP the files on a timely basis. In case of FTP Adapter, we would need an FTP Server, a remote location with access where in files pitch in for polling.
Also, File adapter is dependent on the local folder and OS, however FTP adapter is dependent on the local as well as the remote file system/OS/folder permissions/user access. -
Difference between jar file and package?
What is difference between a package and jar?
Is a jar a package? or is package jar?
If I say
package pink;
does it mean pink is folder or jar?
what if I say import pink.rose;
does it import jar file with the rose class inside it?These two concepts are unrelated. A jar file is nothing more than a zip file of class files and other related resources, which you can use to 'bundle' your application for ease of deployment. Th use of zip files is not mandatory.
Packages on the other hand, are a means of 'packaging' parts of an application or library in their own namespace, generally for reasons program structure, and to avoid naming collisions. A bunch of classes in a package will be compiled into a bunch of class files, on a one-to-onwe basis (one file per class).
You may chose to 'bundle' those and other classes into a jar file. -

Custom Controls
A custom control is an area on a screen. You create them in the Screen Painter, and, like all other screen objects, they have a unique name. You use custom controls to embed controls. A control is a software component on the presentation server, which can be either an ActiveX control or a JavaBean, depending on the SAPgui you are using. They allow you to perform tasks, such as editing texts, locally on the presentation server. The control is driven by the application logic, which still runs on the application server.
The SAP Control Framework
The controls on the presentation server and the ABAP application programs on the application server communicate using the Structure link SAP Control Framework. This is programmed in ABAP Objects, and contains a set of global classes that you can find in the Class Browser under Basis ® Frontend services. These classes encapsulate the communication between the application server and presentation server, which is implemented using Remote Function Call.
All application controls are encapsulated in a global class. You can find the SAP Basis controls in the Class Browser under Basis ® Frontend Services or Basis ® Component Integration. Programs that use controls on a screen work with the methods and events of the global classes that encapsulates them.
Container Controls
Before you can work with a custom control on a screen, you must assign a Structure link SAP Container Control to it. Container controls are instances of special global classes from the SAP Control Framework. The global class for custom controls is called CL_GUI_CUSTOM_CONTAINER. To link a custom control to a container control, pass the custom control name to the CONTAINER_NAME parameter of the container control constructor when you instantiate it.
As well as using custom containers, you can link controls to a screen using a SAP Docking Container. This is encapsulated in the global class CL_GUI_DOCKING_CONTAINER. The SAP Docking Container does not place the control within a screen. Instead, it attaches it to one of the four edges. You can nest containers. For example, you can use the SAP Splitter Container (classes CL_GUI_EASY_SPLITTER_CONTAINER or CL_GUI_SPLITTER_CONTAINER) within other containers. This allows you to split a custom control or docking control into more than one area, allowing you to embed more than one control.
One example,
program z.

Difference between importing files and adding files/folders to liabrary?
When I want to bring in new music into my liabrary from my my music folder, I don't know the difference between importing them and adding a file. They both seem to bring up the my music folder and seem to give me the same options?
To quote from the following link:
"When you add something to the library, essentially you are taking existing audio or movie files and adding an entry for each to your iTunes Library index. iTunes adds entries in your iTunes library for the selected files, and copies the files to your iTunes Music folder (if you have that option selected in the Advanced pane of iTunes preferences)."
"The Import menu item allows you to import playlists and other data files into iTunes."

Difference between Database Mirroring and Cloning?
Hi,
Can anybody tell me the exact difference between Database Mirrorring and cloning?
Is database mirroring and multiplexing same?
Thanks
Rajeshcannot be kept current automatically with the source database It is possible using manually scripted code to automatically update a cloned database to in effect build your own mirrowing process. This is basically a description of home grown Data Guard and is how many sites maintained a ready to use backup prior to Oracle introducing Data Guard.
The best way to create a clone database today is probably to use the rman duplicate command.
The clone could be the base for use with a mirrowing process you are setting up or used for other purposes such as providing a consistent frozen snapshot of production for special reporting. It could become the unit test or system test environment or perhaps be used for diaster recovery purposes.
A clone is a one-time event. Mirrowing is an ongoing process.
