Difference between form and shop paper

Hi Guys,
I want to know the difference between Form, smart form and shop paper.
Our problem is one form is there, so user want to modify the form with some changes, they have provided the form name.
i have checked in the customization and able to find only shop paper related data.
Could you please suggest me how to find the forms.
Is there any customization available to link the forms with shop papers?

Hi,
A shop paper is a combination of print program and form.
Look at customizing transaction OIDA, Use this to adjust what form is used by a particular shop paper. Transaction SE71 can be used to adjust the form.
Do not adjust standard forms (PM_COMMON, etc), make a copy and adjust your own version.

    OC4J_BI_Forms holds a part of the Forms and Reports Application, but the engines run in the Forms and Reports as a different product or application, if you make any modification in OC4J_BI_Forms container it wont affect the forms and reports engines, it's necesary, but the hole work is made by the individual products, and all are necesary.

    alright understand the difference between forms and designer...but I learned forms 6i and reports 6i and want to work in the industry under designer 6i. can i do this? would going into designer 6i be difficult with forms 6i/pl/sql experience??

    Its a different tool with a different type of development.
    You can take an Oracle Designer course or read the docs and start learning.

    I just upgraded my old style menu-driven application from forms/reports 6i to 11gr2 and don't add features of 11gr2
    still now. So, Its look like old one (6i).
    So, please guide me what features should I add (like look-wise, working-wise, performance-wise etc.),

    The biggest difference between Forms 6i and Forms 11g is: 1) the ability to use features of the 11g database, 2) use Java Beans in your form to extend/enhance the functionaly and look-n-feel, 3) import Java directly into your form and interact with the Java through PL/SQL, 4) and most importantly, it is the current supported version of Forms. These are just the highlights. There are other differences.
    In all honesty, what features you use should be driven by the needs of your customer. If your customer needs the application to use the response from a web service, then I would look at implementing a Java Bean in your app to support this customer driven need. I wouldn't recommend adding features just for the sake of adding features if they don't provide direct benefit to your customer. Just my opinion. :)

  • Difference between Form Interface and Global definitions in Smartforms.

    Hi guys!
    I'm learning about Smartforms.
    I would like to know which is the difference between Form Interface from the Global Settings and Global Definitions from Global settings as well, because in both of them I have to declare tables, structures, variables, etc. Could you please explain to me when should I use them?

    Two ways to use Smart Form:
    1.     by using Application Program
    2.     By coding in Smart form itself.
    Now, if the 1st method is used then same interface can be used  for multiple requirements. For eg two different programs Z1 and Z2, may use same interface. Hence a lot of efforts are reduced.
    On the other side in 2nd method, multiple forms have to be created to fulfill different requirements.
    Now, Global Definiton is something that is irrespective of which Program is being used, the form nodes can use the Global definition in all cases.
    Also all tables etc must be declared in the Global setting.

    Basic difference between Export and Export from Fact Table is
    In standard package "Export" : We can perform this function when we are online and we have adequate amount of data to be exported. We can run this package eg: weekly or monthly. Here we use u201CExport Packageu201D to pull the data
    And in the administrative package "Export from Fact Table"   Mostly it is used to do the backend data loading  basically bulk data , also any formula logic has to be implemented on the data in that case we use the administrative package.

    it is not recommended because, when ever we activate the smartform it generates one function module.
    if we transport that driver program and smartform to testing or production, in that server the generated function module name will be differ.

    Ive doen pretty much what you said burt now my program isnt working at all. The window comes up but instead of doing something when you click the button it just throws shit loads of exceptions. Heres my abridged code

  • What is the difference between avi and mov

    Hi FCP users,
    I am actually an audio guy, but I would like an answer on something.
    I work with Logic, and usually use quicktime movies when I am working to movies. But I am working with a client who is an Avid user and swears by avi files. Can someone explain to me the difference. My client explained to me that avi's are better than mov files. He claims their file sizes are bigger, so therefore there quality is better. He said there is some form of compression on quicktime movies which lessen the quality to avi, even if the mov is uncompressed apparently the quality is still less than an uncompressed avi. If this is not true, could someone give me the real big difference between the two.
    I thought is was more of a preference, like windows users prefer wav, and apple users like quicktime movies. Like with audio, there isnt a huge difference between aif and wav. Windows users prefer wav and apple users aif.

    This is a disaster in the making. You can avoid being part of the train wreck by either renting an Avid, going to live at his house, or telling him to get a Macintosh.
    You must find the lowest common denominator video format that will work on both of your systems. That could be conventional DV, dunno, never used Avid and never tried to edit anything on a PC. But I can tell you this with absolute certainty, it will be easier and, in the end, much less expensive for one of you to adopt the other's platform for the duration of this project. The time you waste transcoding, arguing, formatting your drives, buying secondary products, fitting round pegs into square holes, and trying to find a workable solution (that will keep changing as the project gets more complicated) will cost you much more in terms of money out of pocket and creative frustration than simply buying/renting another station.
