Difference between Former budgeting and Budget Control System.

Dear experts,
I am looking for a document/guide which can explain the salient feature of BCS and how the same is more beneficial compared to Former budgeting.
Additionally, help is also sought on how to migrate from former budgeting to BCS upon upgrade in ECC 6.0?
Thanks in advance.
Manoj

Hi Manoj,
You can follow this link.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/a6/17f53b9f150248e10000000a11402f/frameset.htm
It explains clearly the benefits of BCS as well as migration tools that SAP provides. If you do not have some non-standard enehancements in your Former Budgeting, then migration won't be a problem.

Eli

  • Difference between "IKM append" and "IKM Control append"

    Hi gurus,
Please clarify me the difference between IKM append and IKM Control append mode.
    Thanks
    Anindya

I believe you are talking about IKM SQL Control Append and IKM SQL to SQL Append . If yes then read further .
    IKM SQL Control Append :
Integrates data in any SQL compliant target table in replace/append mode.
To use this IKM, the staging area must be on the same data server as the target.
IKM SQL to SQL Append :
Integrates data in a target SQL compliant table from any SQL compliant staging area in replace mode.
To use this IKM, the staging area must be different from the target.
So the main difference is the location of staging area .

Where can I get documentation to know the major differences between forms 6i and Forms 9i? I heard one major difference is that Forms 9i does not support client/server architecture. I need to confirm this.
    Thanks

Check out the various papers available on:

Here you'll find the new features in 9i listed and also a document listing in some detail the things that have been obsoleted in the 9i release.

  • Difference between Form Interface and Global definitions in Smartforms.

    Hi guys!
    I'm learning about Smartforms.
I would like to know which is the difference between Form Interface from the Global Settings and Global Definitions from Global settings as well, because in both of them I have to declare tables, structures, variables, etc. Could you please explain to me when should I use them?
    Thanks!
    Gaby

Two ways to use Smart Form:
    1.     by using Application Program
    2.     By coding in Smart form itself.
Now, if the 1st method is used then same interface can be used  for multiple requirements. For eg two different programs Z1 and Z2, may use same interface. Hence a lot of efforts are reduced.
On the other side in 2nd method, multiple forms have to be created to fulfill different requirements.
Now, Global Definiton is something that is irrespective of which Program is being used, the form nodes can use the Global definition in all cases.
Also all tables etc must be declared in the Global setting.

    Sana

  • What is the difference between Com Addin and Activex control

Could any one please explain what are they and what is the difference between them exactly.

    Hello,
Here is what Wikipedia states for ActiveX:
ActiveX is a software framework created by Microsoft that
adapts its earlier Component Object Model (COM) and Object
Linking and Embedding (OLE) technologies for content downloaded from a network, particularly in the context of the World
    Wide Web.[1] It
was introduced in 1996 and is commonly used in its Windows operating system.
In principle it is not dependent on Microsoft Windows, but in practice, most ActiveX controls require either Microsoft Windows or a Windows emulator. Most also require the client to be running on Intel x86 hardware, because they contain compiled code.<sup
    class="reference" id="cite_ref-2" style="line-height:1;font-size:11.19px;font-style:normal;font-weight:normal;">[2]</sup>
Many Microsoft Windows applications — including many of those from Microsoft itself, such as Internet
    Explorer, Microsoft Office, Microsoft
Visual Studio, and Windows Media Player — use ActiveX controls
to build their feature-set and also encapsulate their own functionality as ActiveX controls which can then be embedded into other applications. Internet Explorer also allows the embedding of ActiveX controls in web
    pages.
    And for COM:
Component Object Model (COM) is a binary-interface standard
for software components introduced by Microsoft in
1993. It is used to enable inter-process communication and dynamic object creation
in a large range of programming languages. COM is the basis for several other Microsoft technologies and frameworks,
    including OLE, OLE
    Automation, ActiveX, COM+, DCOM,
the Windows shell, DirectX, UMDF and Windows
    Runtime.
Office add-in is an assembly which implement the
    IDTExtensibility2  interface (COM).

  • Difference Between Controllin area and Credit Control area

    hi.
can u pls tell  me the difference  Controllin area and Credit Control area....?
is there any FM is available for CreditControlAreaGetList........?
    regards
    Guru

    Hi Bojja,
    Controlling Area:
Controlling provides you with information for management decision-making. It facilitates coordination, monitoring and optimization of all processes in an organization. This involves recording both the consumption of production factors and the services provided by an organization.
As well as documenting actual events, the main task of controlling is planning. You can determine variances by comparing actual data with plan data. These variance calculations enable you to control business flows.
Income statements such as, contribution margin accounting, are used to control the cost efficiency of individual areas of an organization, as well as the entire organization.
    CCA(Credit Control Area)
An organizational unit that represents the area where customer credit is awarded and monitored.
This organizational unit can either be a single or several company codes, if credit control is performed across several company codes. One credit control area contains credit control information for each customer.

  • Difference between SAP cProjects and SAP Project System

    Hi,
SAP already has a solution PS ( Project System ) for managing the projects in an Organization.
When there is a solution already existing then why did SAP come up with a new solution cProjects ?
Can any help me in understanding the main differences and advantages between cProjects and PS ?
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Priyatham

    Hi.
I have copied an SAP text below which sets PS, cProjects, (x)RPM and PPM into context.
In the ninties, the Project System was developed within SAP R/3 to provide a powerful application with full integration into logistics and financials.
Target groups were industries such as engineering and construction, automotive, high tech or utilities with focus on project manufacturing or large maintenance projects.
Later on, the need for more flexible and easy-to-use tools supporting the new process methodologies, phased-based approaches, quality gates, and so on, emerged. SAP developed Collaboration Projects and Collaboration Folders (cProjects Suite), which takes these new requirements into account and provides extensive features to collaborate with internal and external partners using a HTML-like interface and Web Application Server technology.
Thus, cProjects was able to address to a broader range of industries, such as service providers, offering a high degree of visibility and flexibility to support various scenarios from product development to consulting projects. Nevertheless, cProjects is seen as a complementary product to Project System, not as ist successor!
It always depends on the scenario that a customer wants to cover, which application is the best choice.
As another matter of fact, combinations of both are also possible.
In addition to this, the new generation of composite applications was born and SAP xApp for Resource and Portfolio Management provides excellent capabilities to align operational project management with strategic portfolio management.
The latest developments bring all these three applications tighter together and offers a comprehensive solution for project and portfolio management by covering logistical, financial and human resource aspects and addressing the needs of all stakeholders throughout the entire organisation.
However, xRPM capabilities are not only restricted to project portfolios but can be leveraged to control all kind of portfolio items.

  • Difference between EHP4 Ready and Installed EHP4 system

When i  installed EHP4 Ready System the SPRO path is somewhat different from the EHP4 IDES system for some of activities.
Also when i installed the EHP4 using solman the SPRO is same what was there in the EHP4 Ready system.
Let me elaborate , what we are experiencing
    1. For Ex : Easy DMS node is not there in the EHP4 Ready and also not after the installation of EHP4 , Does selection of technical usage effects the functionality ? like in easy dms as we did not select the technical usage of easy DMS in solman while upgrading the process.
    2. Also  if we have missed this easy DMS stuff , how can we install now ?
    Please advice ...

    Hi,
In EHP4 Ready system, all the basic netweaver components are on 701 release like SAP_Basis, SAP_ABA etc. and all ERP components are on 600 release. So, you cannot use this system as such.
You need to upgrade EHP4 Ready system to EHP4 level using EHPi installer. For that you need to select required usage type in MOPZ in solution managerwhich you want to use in the system and then upgrade it.
As in your case you need to upgrade only easy DMS component in your as system as I assume your system is already upgraded to EHP4 level.
    Thanks
    Sunny
