Difference between forms6i and 10g

Is there a big Difference between forms6i and 10g? Can someone with 6i experience use forms 10g without problems?

In our company Forms applications are still developed in 6i C/S, but they run without modifications, just recompilation, on
- 6i C/S (obviously :-))
- 6i Forms server
- 9i Forms services 9.0.2
- 10g Forms services 9.0.4
- 10g Forms services 10.1.2
We have customers with all these architectures on Linux and Windows, and they have DBs from 7.3.4 to 10g.

How to implement grid depends on your scale. If you have one or two databases, you can function fine with dbconsole and whatever your OS provides. If you have 10,000 databases, you probably need grid. If you have 10 databases, you probably need grid, though that might be debatable depending on what already exists.

Differences between 8 and 10g

Can anyone help, i am trying to find documentation on the differences between sql 8.0.6 and 10, to find the functions that have been added/removed etc.,but cannot find one anywhere?

http://tahiti.oracle.com has all of Oracle's documentation online. There should be new features guides for 8i, 9i, and 10g that will have this sort of information. So far as I'm aware, Oracle has only added new SQL functions.

Active form difference between Forms6i and Forms10g

We have a custom forms application that has recently been migrated from Forms6i to Forms10g. Our clients have noticed the following difference and I would appreciate some feeback.
1. FormA is called from the menu (CALL_FORM('form_name, NO_HIDE...)
2. FormB is called from the menu (CALL_FORM('form_name, NO_HIDE...)
3. From WINDOW - select FormA
Under Forms10g the menu and toolbar are now inactive (the tool bar is greyed out and the menu item cannot be selected - FormsA is now in focus but not active).
Under Forms6i the menu and toolbar remain not grayed out (though actions are in relations to FormB - currently not in focus but it appears still the active form).
It appears that there has been a tightening up between what form is currently in focus and active.
Is this the expected behaviour?

The menu items as not greyed out but in Forms10g the menu items do not function.
If you have a toolbar associated it is greyed out in Forms10g but not Forms6i.
I created a test case as follows; (forms created in 6i using wizards and then migrated to 10g).
1. Created form1
2. Created form2
3. Created Menu
     * item 1 - CALL_FORM('TEST_FORM_1',NO_HIDE);
     * item 2 - CALL_FORM('TEST_FORM_2',NO_HIDE);
     * item 3 - EXIT_FORM;
4. Run TEST_FORM_1
5. From MENU select TEST_FORM_2
6. From WINDOW (or click on) TEST_FORM_1
7. From MENU select EXIT_FORM
Under Forms6i TEST_FORM_2 exits (not this is the current active form but not the one currently in focus).
Under Forms10g EXIT_FORM does nothing.

MV Refresh differences between 9i and 10g

In 9i, the MV seems to be empty during complete refresh (Oracle does a truncate on the MV). I have done some tests on 10g and that does not occur (it seems that Oracle does a Delete). Does any one know this for sure?

In 10g:
- A MV called MVTeste;
- Two SQL Plus windows: in both a make a 'select count' in the MV. Then, in the first one I do a dbms_mview.refresh. In the second one, I keep doing 'select count' in the MV. The second SQL Plus never sees an empty MV.

Well, the question is almost philosophic... 
In 9i, there is a Migration Guide whereas in 10g there is a Upgrade Guide. 
Furthermore, in 9i, there is the command line startup migrate whereas in 10g that's startup upgrade.
Somebody think upgrade when go to new release, and migration when go to new version. 
Others think upgrade when new version replace database in place, and migration when new version include a move of database. 
Another point of view is : upgrade is for technical, and migration for application/data. 
 
Well, after these explanations, your upgrade/migratation notion will not be more clear, but I think that is not very important, only a terminology game. The most important is to know what you need : new version or new release.

Functional differences between OBISE1 and OBIEE

Hello,
beside the licensing restrictions, there are some funtional differences between OBISE1 and OBIEE. I have seen some very neat features in OBIEE which are not implemented in OBISE1, e. g. generating powerpoint or the assistants for bi publisher in word. The actual release of EE is 10.1.3.4.0 and it is 10.1.3.2.1 for SE1. Does anyone know, if SE1 will be upgraded to 10.1.3.4.0? And if yes, will Interactive Dashboards, Answers and BI Publisher in this relaese have the functional range of EE?

This question has been posted a number of times. Yes, Server, Answers, Dashboards and Publisher are functionally identical in BISE1 and BIEE. You can use BIEE 10.1.3.4.1 to upgrade your BISE1 10.1.3.2.1 (Oracle trust you not to use the stuff you are not licensed to use such as Delivers).

I've learnt that both DBMS_FGA and DBMS_RLS can be used to apply fine-grained policies on tables with some more procedures for the later.
My simple question is What is the main difference between DBMS_FGA and DBMS_RLS when it comes to add a policy? When shall I use either of them?
