Difference between Fresh implementation, Upgrade & Rollout

Hii
How the functional consultants responsibilities & scope of work varies in each of these projects? Like in fresh implementation as we follow  ASAP methodology do we follow the same methodolgy in other type of projects also. If we follow the same methodology, what do we do in business blue print stage in upgrad& roll out implementations?Because already during implementation BPO's would have shared their requirements & busines processes & accordingly we would have implemented. But in upgrades & rollouts how the project is done. Please anybody who has already worked on upgrades, help me out in getting a clear picture on how upgarde projects are takled & the responsibilities of functional consultants in upgarde projects.
thanks in advance.

<b>Role of a Functional Consultant in an End To End Implementation (Fresh Implementation)</b>
When you talk about the role of a Functional consultant in an end to end implementation, I think it won't be possible for me or anybody to define everything but I will try to summarize it:
1. Functional consultant is expected to generate knowledge about the current business process, design current business flows, study current business processes and its complication, in all we can say getting through with current business setup. Flow diagrams and DFD are prepared, most of the time in Vision format, all this forms the part of AS IS document.
2. Everything configured has to be documented as per their categories in the form of predefined templates, these have to be then approved by the team leads or who ever the consultant is reporting to.
3. Mapping and GAP analysis is done for each module, I have seen people defining integration after mapping, gap analysis and configuration is done, but as per my experience in implementation, it is a simultaneous process.
4. Before starting configuring  future business processes in SAP, the DFD/ERD are prepared, this documentation is called TO BE, which can be also siad as the result of mapping and gap analysis.
5. Sometimes Functional consultants are also expected to prepare test scripts for testing the configured scenarios.
6. End user manual and user training is also expected from F.Consultants.
The project normally starts off  with a Kick off meeting in which the team size, team members, reporting system, responsibilities, duties, methodlogy, dates and schedules, working hours which have been predicided are formally defined.
ASAP methodolgy is used in Freh Implementation.
<b>Role of a Functional Consultant in an Upgrade</b>
Upgrade could be an technical Upgrade in which the existing configuration is technically upgraded & then the function Consultant & Abapers do the necessary modification required in the Configuration & Developments. This would be based on AS-IS & TO-BE Study & as per the scope of the project. The Servers / system are completely different, along with different version of SAP.
<b>Role of a Functional Consultant in an Rollout</b>
In Rollout, more or less, the configuration is in place, it is just a matter of extending the same based on requirement. It is possible that there may be small changes required to be done in configuration & developments, which have to be handled by Functional Consultants & Abapers.
Hopefully this information is of use to you.

  • Difference between Enhancement Implementation and BadI Implementation

What is the difference between Enhancement Implementation and BadI Implementation?

    Hi Rajendra Prasad,
Enhancement spot : It is the point where you can add your code. It can have multiple implementations. All the implementations can active at a time but the sequence of executions of the implementations can be anything.
    (or)
Enhancement points are regions where can insert our code to suit customer needs...Spots are subsets of points and created inside these points..for an enhancement point multiple active spots can exist.
For enhacement-sections : the main idea is to provide a spot to customise the existing process..eg:SAP has done a select criteria..but you need to filter it more by adding a where condition..in that case SAP suggests using Enhancement sections..At any time the first active enhancement section works...even if multiple sections are created(though ideally multiple sections are not allowed to be created)..if you do the procedure below you can see that enhancement-section when a spot is created for it...the code in the parent section is copied and given in the editable mode
Creating spots implementations for points/sections are given below................................................................
to Create a spot in the standard code...click on the spiral icon..screen changes to a different color...place cursor on ENHANCEMENT-POINT/ENHANCEMENT-SECTION keyword of the spot you require to create implementation for...righ click -> "enhancement implementation -> "create" -> a table control comes -> at the bottom "CREATE" button to be clicked" ...give a name and text in customer name space and save -> select the same name just given in the table control ..press 'Tick' .....you will get a space where code can be written..write the code.....save and activate

  • Differences between-fresh SRM installation vs upgrade

    Hi,
Can anybody of you help me out with the following-
Differences between the two approaches –
fresh SRM install vs upgrade with kernel upgrade and patch application. Which approach is better and why?
Your help will be highly appreciated.
    Its very urgent.

It depends on your Project Requirement. If you are upgrading your current version with any new version, then you will have to upgrade the system.
If you are implementing new version, then you will have install fresh and then upload the data from Old System.
You need to check your project. (Upgrade or Implementation)

  • Differences between 1st Gen + upgrade and 2nd Gen?

Hi all. I was looking into purchasing a new iPod touch, but before I do so, I was wondering if there is any difference between getting an iPod touch 1st generation and purchasing the software upgrade and simply purchasing a 2nd generation? Reason being that I can get a 1st gen much cheaper than the $10 that it would cost to get the software upgrades, so if I can do that it would be great.
So is it a seamless upgrade or will there be some small differences between the two? Thanks in advance for the replies!

Updating a 1st gen Touch to 2.1 is the way to go if you don't care too much about the primary differences, where the 2nd gen Touch has the speaker, external volume control, and slimmer at the edges. I've had both and am glad that I have updated to the 2nd gen Touch.
Note that the 2nd gen Touch does not have the same charging circuit as previous iPod models, so if you have 3rd party chargers that rely on the 12V (firewire) pin on the iPod's dock connector, those won't work. For the 2nd gen Touch you need to have "Made for iPod" designated charging accessories which use the 5V (USB) pin of the connector. Chargers don't specify which pin of the connector they use, so if you go with a 2nd gen Touch be sure that any accessories you buy for it are designated specificatly for the 2nd gen.

  • Difference between patch and upgrade

    hi,
i need to know the exact difference between the patch that is available online and the upgradation of oracle. there is a patch 14 available for oracle 11.5.9 available. what does it do. is it similar to upgrading the oracle installation to a higher version.
please reply as soon as possible.
    thank you in advance.

Would you please elaborate more. What do you mean by the patch this is available only? What is patch 14?
If you are running on 11.5.9 and want to upgrade to 11.5.10.2, then you need to apply 11.5.10.2 maintenance pack. Maintenance pack is a consolidation of all the mini packs for all products and all the family packs for the entire oracle applications.
Have a look at the following link for Oracle Applications Patch Types:

  • Whats the difference between a discount upgrade and a full upgrade

I currently have a windows lumina smart phone.  Its up for a discounted upgrade now.  I want to upgrade to an Iphone 6 plus but what is the difference if I get the upgrade now with the discount VS waiting till it's totally due for an upgrade?  Would I pay nothing if I wait or would I still end up paying?

I'm not sure what you mean by "it's totally due for an upgrade".  You can upgrade at any time by paying full retail price for a phone or buying a gently used phone from somewhere like swappa (or borrowing a phone from someone).  If you're eligible for a subsidized/discounted upgrade, you'd pay the two-year contract price listed on the VzW web site.  You can check your subsidized/discounted upgrade date by dialing #UPG from your cell phone.

  • HT5460 What is the difference between an OSX upgrade and an OSX Combo upgrade?

That's my question, right there in the subject line. Thanks!
    Andy

That didn't work, actually. I tried the 10.8.4 combo update and got a message that it requires 10.8. I'm trying to go from 10.6.8 to 10.8.4. Maybe I'm too far behind? Do I need to download all the various "in between" upgrades to get where I want to be? I've never updated my OS before, so thanks for your patience with my questions.

  • What is the difference between the normal upgrade and the combi upgrade?

I update my software by using the software update option and it automatically chooses the combi option, can anyone tell me the difference other than the size of the two types of update?
    Thanks

A combo upgrade can upgrade any dot release of an OS version. So you could use the 10.5.6 combo update to upgrade 10.5.0, 10.5.1, ... 10.5.5 to 10.5.6.
The delta upgrade can only upgrade the previous dot release to it. So, the 10.5.6 delta can only upgrade 10.5.5 to 10.5.6. If you try and run the 10.5.6 delta upgrade on, say, 10.5.3, it will not run.

  • Difference between different types of patches

    Hi all
I want to know difference between the database upgrade patchset, cpu,
psu, one off patches and what are the methods of deploying these patches?

    Hi,
I want to know difference between the database upgrade patchset, cpu, psu, one off patches and what are the methods of deploying these patches?Refer thread for PUS and CPU:
    Difference b/w CPU  and PSU
usually *One-off  patches are single  small size patch used for fixing an existing bug.
PSU and CPU are consolidated of one-off patches, for more information refer thread mentioned above.
These are installed using Opatch utility
Patchests are certainly big in size and most of the bugfixes and new features are included within this, and will upgrade your patchset version.
suppose you Installed patchset 10.2.0.5 on 10.2.0.1 then your database will be upgraded to version *10.2.0.5*.
These patchsets are Installed using OUI
    hope help :)
    thanks,

  • Difference between implementation, support & upgradation projects

    Hello Friends,
I am new to SAP. Can anyone tell me what are implementation, support & upgradation projects..what are the differences between those projects? what is role of ABAP developer in these projects?
    Regards,

    Hi,
SAP Implementation: SAP Implementation is the whole of processes that defines a complete method to
implement SAP software in an organization. It is based on best practices and case studies from various
literature sources and presents a collection of processes and products that make up a complete
implementation method to allow any organization to plan and execute the implementation of SAP (ERP)
software. The SAP implementation process is made up out of four main phases, i.e. the project preparation
where a vision of the future-state of the SAP solution is being created, a sizing and blueprinting phase
where the solution stack is created and training is being performed, a functional development phase and
finally a final preparation phase, when the last tests are being performed before the actual go live.
ABAP Developer Role is to prepare the Technical Specification (based on a Functional Specification given
by a Functional Consultant), build the code, Review the code and finally to prepare the Unit Test Cases.
Sometimes ABAPer may be asked to do a technical research for an optimal solution.
SAP Support: After a go live, the application needs a maintenance/support to resolve the issues/tickets raised by the users when using the application.Ticket is like a request for changes/bug fixing or a request for a new
ABAP Developer Role includes bug fixing/change the existing code due to new requirements/build a new code etc.
SAP Upgrade: SAP Upgrade is nothing but upgrading the software with a superior version which has got more advantages when compared to the earlier version.
ABAP Developer Role is to go through transactions SPAU/SPDD to compare the old and new version of the change and finally need to activate the relevant one. Some times might need to work on SAP notes too.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas
