Difference between IDOC Bundling and IDOC Packaging

Hi,
Can anybody please explain the difference between IDOC bundling and IDOC packaging?
Thanks,
Loveena.

Hi,
IDoc Bundling is the changing the occurance of IDoc.
In a scenario If there is a necessitity for changing the Occurance of some segment of the IDOC u have to perform this steps
1.Import the IDoc to XI.
2.Export the IDoc(i.e XSD format) and save it to the local machine.
3.Make changes to the IDoc structure by modifying the XSD file in the local machine.
4.Save it as an XSD file Itself.
5.Import the XSD file in the IR under the External Defination.
6.Use this XSD in your Message Interface/Mapping which is same as IDoc structure but with some changes that u have made.
Go Thru this Blog <a href="/people/michal.krawczyk2/blog/2005/12/04/xi-idoc-bundling--the-trick-with-the-occurance-change Bundling - Trick without BPM</a> BY Michal Krawczyk where the Occurance of the IDoc is changed to 1...Unbounded from 1...999999999 by using the XSD.
IDoc Packing is collecting of IDoc

  • Difference between message type and idoc type

    Hi
difference between message type and idoc type
    Regards
    Rama

    Hi,
    Message Type:
A message type represents the application message exchanged between R/3 systems and R/3 and an external system. A message type characterises the data sent across systems and relates to the structure of the data called an IDOC type.
    Diff. with IDOC type
An IDoc type specifies the structure of the data.
A message type specifies the meaning of the data
Diff. b/w IDOC type and IDOC
An IDoc type is the definition of a specific data structure.
An IDoc is an actual instance of data based on an IDoc type. Therefore, there can be many IDocs created from a single IDoc type.
    Example:
MATMAS is the message type and MATMAS05 is IDoc type for Material Master.

  • Difference between an application and a package?

    Hey!
Cant figure out what the difference between an Application and a Package in SCCM 2012. I only got Packages in 2007, is there any documentation on this?
    // Clint

    Hi,
Applications are stated-based which means that you will have to provide a detection method for an application so in some scenarios running a script could be better as an Package/Program. Running a file copy of for instance SAPLOGON.INI every morning is also
    handled better as a package/program.
So there are still some scenarios that you want tot use Package/Programs..

  • Diff ...between  Bdoc's  and  Idoc's  in XI  integration !

In XI integration what is the difference between Bdoc's and Idoc's ?
Both or same ? different ? how the integration will be done ?
    Adv...thanx and regards

    Hi
An IDoc transfer is quicker in comparison to SOAP/XML because the IDoc document contains no metadata information (tags)unlike an XML document, and therefore, the size of document sent down the line is substantially smaller in comparison.
IDocs can be used to send messages to the SAP Exchange Infrastructure where an IDoc XML document will be established and mapped into other XML Schemata. The XML messages can be routed to other Business Systems. IDocs can be used to send messages to the Business Connector where an IDoc XML document will beestablished and mapped into other XML Schemata such as Rosetta Net, xCBL or customer‘s ownschemata.IDocs can be used to send messages to a flat file.IDocs can be used to send messages to an ALE converter, where IDocs are mapped into standardizedmessage formats (EDI communication).IDocs can be used to send messages to an ALE Messaging System. In contrast to an ALE converter, the message handler will not perform any conversion or mapping but instead receives IDocs and sends
them to applications for processing. IDocs can be used to send messages to an EDI Sub-System. In contrast to an ALE converter, the EDISub-System does not use direct program-to-program communication for transferring IDocs.
A messaging BDoc consists of up to two parts:
    Part 1: classical part
    This part is mandatory.
The classical part consists of a BDoc header and segments, which may be arranged in a hierarchical fashion. The segments of the classical part are not mapped to database tables.
This part is to be modeled with the (CRM Server based) BDoc Modeler. Only the classical part is used to determine the receivers of mBDoc messages. Since there is no mapping to database tables (that is, no CDB), this part always needs to be filled completely by the application at runtime.
    Part 2: Extension part
    This part is optional.
The complex data type is modeled with the Data Repository Tools (SE11).
The extension does only exist for messaging BDocs.
The extension part is used to hold delta or extract data intended to pass into the CRM Server application (inbound case) or to send to remote systems (outbound case). The extension part cannot be used for receiver determination.
Bdocs are specific to CRM. They do not leave the CRM system, but perform their updates from it. They are much bigger because they contain the entire data-model of the object they are supposed to update. They can contain delta or creation information and can be processed by flow processes.
So they are data-containers that are used to update CRM & CRM dependent systems.
Idocs are data-containers as well, but they are structured for their purpose (not for the object they contain) and they can be transfered between systems.

  • Difference between analytic privilege and package privilege

    Hello Team
Please suggest me on the difference between Analytic privilege and package privilege . Since both the privileges works on package only . So what is the exact difference between them .
    Regards

    Hi,
SAP HANA have several categories of privileges such as system privileges, object privileges, analytic privileges, package privileges and application privileges.
For analytic privileges and package privileges, they are very different.
When you use analytic privileges, you can grant different users to see different data. For example you have an analytic view including some sales data and there is a column LOCATION. You can use analytic privilege to grant the sales in the east US to only see the sales data where LOCATION = "EAST" and grant the sales in the west US to only see the sales data where LOCATION = "WEST". This is just a simple example. In short, you use analytic privileges to grant different users to see different data.
Regarding package privilege, when you develop on XS projects, you can grant different package privileges to different users. For example, you have a package named "services" in your XS project. You can use package privilege to grant user A to only read the content under "services" and grant user B to edit/activate or even delete the "services" packages.

  • What is the difference between handling unit and packaging material

    hi
what is the difference between handling unit and packaging material

    Hi,
A handling unit is a physical unit that consists of the packaging materials (load carrier / packaging material) and the goods contained therein. A handling unit is always a combination of materials and packaging materials. All the information contained in the material items, such as batches and serial numbers, is always available by way of the handling units.
Packaging materials are intended to enclose or hold together the materials that are to be packed. In other words, the material that is to be packed can be packed into or onto the packaging material. The packaging material can be a load carrier. The most important packaging materials include crates, boxes, containers, wire baskets, and pallets.

  • What is the difference between cluster patch and bundle patch

    hi every one
can any one please tell me the difference between cluster patch and bundle patch ... for what purpose we apply cluster patch and bundled patch

There is no inherent difference between a patch cluster and a patch bundle that I am aware of.
Its just a name for collections of patches.
For whatever reason, the regular collections of recommended patches that sun puts out happen to be referred to as the recommended patch cluster.
The "all patches to bring you up to 5/08" that sun is putting out happens to be being called the 5/08 patch bundle.
I don't think they meant anything by the distinction. But thats the first time the term "patch bundle" has been used that I'm aware of.
So maybe there is some new patch delivery/installation technology implied. But I doubt it.

This is fully covered in the documentation:
    About Database Applications
    About Websheet Applications
    About Packaged Applications
There is little difference between packaged applications and database applications, other than that packaged applications are supplied by Oracle and database applications are created by you.

  • What's the difference between segment filtering and reduced message type

    Hi gurus,
What's the difference between segment filtering and reduced message type? It seems they have the same functionality: Reduce the segment while idoc is generated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    BD53 is for IDoc Reduction.
this allows you to create a reduced message based upon a standard message type.If you want see mandatory fields. go to T-coe BD53 and give one standard messege type name and eg: matmas
there mandatory fields will be in Green color..
And BD56- This transaction is used to filter out segments of IDocs for combination of sender and receiver. This is usefull in scenarios where a standard IDoc with many segments is used but the receiving partner is only interested in some of the segments
the table related to this transation is TBD20
please go through below blog you have an idea abt that,

  • Difference between Seeburger FTP and OFTP adapters

    hi,
Can anybody tell me the difference between Seeburger FTP and OFTP adapters?
On what basis should one make a business decision as to which adapter to go for?
    Kindly help urgently.
    Regards,
    Loveena

    Hi ! Loveena
Seeburger EDI Adapter provides an EDI solution on internet via HTTP or AS2 to replace the expensive VAN. It provides some pre-built mappings for IDOC to ANSI X12(810,850,855,856 etc.,) and Idoc to EDIFACT(ORDERS,DESADV,INVOIC etc.,) and has the ability to build your own. These pre-defined mappings transform the IDOC-XML to EDI-XML format.
Seeburger Adapters are used to Connect the applications which are using Message protocol/Transport protocol as CrossIndustry(payment), VAN, OFTP, AS2(EDIINT), Generic and EDI based applications.

OFTP ist a communication protocol. This has nothing to do with the format you have to transfer.
regards the format you have to clear at which standard you have to transfer the messages. This can be any EDI format. At OFTP area the standard are often VDA or ODETTE.
You can create this messages using different EDI adapters (of course also the mendelson adapter ).
Regards OFTP you need additional software which handle the transfer based on the OFTP standard. Mostly you also need an ISDN card for using this protocol.
We can support you with this software for OFTP transport too.
More info also available at http://www.mendelson-e-c.com/.
have a look at the ACTIS OFTP Adapter

  • Difference between R/3 and CRM systems

    Hi,
I want to know difference between R/3 and other systems like CRM, SCM. Shall we need XI to integrate them..
I think that CRM,SCM are the modules of R/3 is correct..
What kind of applications they are...
    Thanks,
    RamuV

    Hi Ramu,
As you said they are R3 Applications only.
can be connected with the help of XI.
CRM uses BDOCs but XI can only deal with IDOCs. So when you will be working with BDOCs of CRM, then in CRM you will have to create custom IDOCs for the corresponding BDOCs and then you can have File-IDOC and IDOC-file scenarios working via XI to communicate between your CRM server.

  • Difference between RFC adapter and a proxy

Can any one tell me the technical difference between RFC adapter and a proxy?
    reg

There are advantages / disadvantages for RFC / Proxies / Idocs. So if I am in your position depending upon the requirement I will choose one. Some of the differences are:
    RFC and Proxy:
RFC/BAPI has its own overhead of function call.
Proxies communicate with the XI server by means of native SOAP calls over HTTP .RFC does not, so you have to convert from SOAP to RFC calls and vice versa. So XML conversion is required.
ABAP Proxies uses Webservice and Http Protocols.
If you use ABAP Proxy , you can reduce the overhead calling the function again and again.
    Proxy and Idoc:
IDOC : After recieving the strucutred data It processes it using a Function Module associated with it.
Proxy : Proxy is a structure where there is no processing function module associated. You need to explicitly write the Business Logic/Call the subroutines here
This is my absolutely my view. Another guy has his own response. So first go through your requirements and then you can decide for what to go.
Also go through this urls which may help you:

  • Difference between facades, suites and utilities

    Greetings,
I am in learning phase of plugin developement. I want to ask some basic question as what is the difference between utility, facade and suite interfaces? How to decide which one to use?
    Thanks.

    Hello Vinodh,
Enterprise Extensions are bundled, and thus delivered together, in each Enterprise Add-On. None of the individual Extensions show any dependencies with the others. Thus, they represent decoupled software units; each Extension is then implemented using a structure package.
Thus, SAP IS Auto and SAP IS- Utilities are Enterprise Add-Ons.
