  • What's the difference between Infospokes and Open Hub Destination in BI 7?

I understand the API that a 3rd party tool uses to get data our of BW using infospokes.    Is it the same API that a 3rd party tools such as MS-SSIS uses?   Supposedly  that software only communicates with an OH Destination and not Infospokes.   So apparently is does use a different API.   If that's the case, where can I find documentation on that API for OH Destintations?

Open Hub Destination (OHD) replaced InfoSpokes as of BI 7 SPS 6, for Open Hub Service. Existing InfoSpokes can be used still, but it's recommended that any new retractions be created as an Open Hub Desitnation, because it exposes more functionality (e.g. Transformations and functionalities with DTPs).
Here's a document on [Open Hub Service - 3rd Party Integration|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/icc/bw-ohs%20open%20hub%20service%2c%20third-party%20integration.pdf] (see Page 7). Hope this helps.

  • What is source system and open hub destination?

    Hello,
Kindly tell me In BI data modeling workbench ,in modeling there is are two areas name as "Source system" and "Open Hub destination".What is mean by this???How we use it in BI?

    Hi,
Source system as the name suggests mentions the source of data. The place from where you are extractin data to BW.

    Hi,
Infospoke ie., open hub service means you are sending data from BW to other systems. Transaction Code : RSBO.
Using info spoke we can put our BW Server as source system and any other database system is target system.

Transaction code RSBMO2 is for Openhub(Infospoke ) monitor.
    Analysis Process Designer
    Use
The Analysis Process Designer is a workbench with an intuitive graphical user interface for creating, executing, and monitoring analysis processes. The analysis process is primarily based on data that was consolidated in the Data Warehouse and that exists in InfoProviders.
The data can be merged from a number of sources, changed step-by-step using different transformation methods, and displayed in new views. The results of the analysis are then stored, for example in an InfoProvider or in a CRM system. It is then available for all decision and application processes. The Analysis Process Designer is used especially in closed-loop scenarios.
The transformation methods offer, for example, basic operations such as filter, join or formulas, as well as advanced methods for data mining. The data mining methods support you when you explore and identify meaningful relationships in your data.
    More information: Data Mining
Examples of analysis processes include calculating ABC classes and determining frequency distribution or scoring information.
You can use queries, database tables, and files as well as InfoProviders as data sources in the analysis process to perform ad hoc analyses. You can also store the results of the analysis directly in a file. Note the data quality of the sources you use, since they normally will not have been included in the ETL process of the Data Warehouse.
    Features
Analysis processes can be created on a graphical user interface using drag and drop. Data from different data sources in the BI system can be combined, transformed, and prepared for analysis in several individual steps. This allows it to be resaved in data targets in the BI system (DataStore objects for direct update or InfoObjects with attributes) or in a CRM system. Various
    ● Data sources
    ● Transformations
    ● Data targets
    are available.
Various additional functions support you in modeling and executing an analysis process, as well as in interpreting the analysis results. More information: Checking Data
The following figure shows the various steps in the Analysis Process Designer:
First select a data target that contains the required data. This data is then prepared and transformed. The transformed data is saved in a BI object or in another system. For analysis, you can display the data in a query in the Business Explorer.
More information: Modeling an Analysis Process
    Use in Process Chains
You can integrate an analysis process into a process chain using the process type ABAP Program. To do this, choose the ABAP report RSAN_PROCESS_EXECUTE.
    Versioning
Analysis processes are integrated into the versioning concept (active, inactive version, content version, and content delivery).
    Transport Connection
Analysis processes are connected to the BI transport system as TLOGO objects. More information: Transport System
    Hope this helps u..

  • Infospoke and open hub

hiya can anyone explain me regarding info spoke and open hub works . it will be very helpful
    regards
    shariff

    Hi Shariff,
The open hub service enables you to distribute data from an SAP BW system into external data marts, analytical applications, and other applications.
This should be a good starting point for you:

  • Difference between SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE and Open data set mechanism

Can you please help me to know the difference between moving a file using FM "SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE" and moving file using "open data set - transfer file- close data set" mechanism?

Through 'SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE' u can execute a External command  (ie.. UNIX /Windows/OS/400) In ABAP programming..
for Conversion Of Aplication server File/Move the file from one directory to Other...
The Command must be present in SM69.
Using this function module'SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE' , you can check the authorization of a user to execute a particular external command and run the command:
With the arguments specified in ADDITIONAL_PARAMETERS
On the target host system defined by OPERATINGSYSTEM and TARGETSYSTEM
If an SAP profile parameter is inserted in the portion of the command stored in the database, then the value of this parameter is substituted into the command. If an SAP application server is active on the target system (TARGETSYSTEM), then the profile parameter values are read from the profile that is active on that system. No parameter substitution is made in ADDITIONAL_PARAMETERS.
After substitution, the command is checked for the presence of "dangerous" characters such as the semicolon ( ; ) on UNIX systems.
If an additional "security function module" is specified in the command definition, this function module is also called in the course of processingebenfalls. This function module can prevent execution of the command.
If the authorization checks complete successfully, the command is run on the target host system.
Through Open Data Set u can read and write the file in the same directory...

  • Difference between Model and Open MBeans?

    Hey all,
does somebody know what the difference is between an Open ManagedBean and an Model ManagedBean?
    Thanks a lot!
    theKeymaker

    Hey,
I've already read the specification of JMX, so also
the chapter about Model and Open MBeans, but I don't
get the point when I'd have to use a Open and a Model
    MBean.
What's the real difference between them?
    Thanx!
    Hi,
The "real" difference is that Open MBeans are restricted to using data types that are portable to any Java /JMX client. This allows management applications to immediately make use of MBeans without
    recompilation, re-assembly, or dynamic linking.
    hope this answers your question,

  • Difference between Bulk and Open Storage

    Hi All
Can any one give me the brief description of Bulk storage type and Open Storage type and the difference between them.
    With Rgds
    Vinod

    Hi,
    Bulk:
Warehouse without shelves where similar pallets or containers are stacked.
The storage bins in bulk storage are separated by lines on the floor. Each bin can store only one material, for example, cases of 1 liter bottles of orange juice.
The SAP System provides a strategy for bulk storage.
    Open:
Type of warehouse organization in which only one storage bin is defined for each storage section.
The quants in the bin conform to mixed storage.

  • Please help me to know the tables which contain details of APD and Open hub destination

    Hi experts,
I need to know the list of APDs that have been created in our system. So can you please let me know the table name (if there is any) which contains the name of the APD and as well as the status (active / inactive) of the APD.
    Thanks ,
    Shalini

    Hi Shalini,
Go to RSANWB  T-code and select any analysis process. Then press the "monitor" button. On the monitor screen, you can see the selection criteria in a table on the right. Now double-click on the table and a popup will come up where you can set the selection criteria. in particular, you can set the time frame and the analysis process selection.
    Hope it 'll help you..........

  • DTP Delta request for open hub destination.

    Hi expert,
As you know, In BW 7.0, open hub destination is used for open hub service, and you can create tranformation/DTP for the destination. and in some case the DTP delta is enabled.
    my questions are
    1) in the context menu of open hub destination, I did not find something like manage, which could list all the DTP request executed for this open hub destination..but for normal infocube or ods, you can find a list.
    2) if the DTP could enable the delta, where can I delete the latest delta request, and have a new load..
    3) I assume the DTP could be excuted with batch integrated with process chain by process type 'DTP', right ? if the destination type is third party tool, can it also be integrated with process chain ?
    4) can give some obvious difference of InfoSpoke and open hub destination in terms of advantage and disadvantage..
Thanks a lot for the feedback.

  • Open Hub Destination Delta issue

    Hi experts,
We have a scenario in which a Open hUb is created on top of a cube.
Regular delats are moving from this cube to Open hub daily.
But as per the request, we had to dump the cube data, and the reload took, 2 days to complete.
So, that 2 days, data got missed in Open hub.
Now, as the new request are not datamarted, next time wen the DTP between Cube and Open Hub runs, it will fetch all the requests right. we dont want that.
So, can we run a init w/o data transfer so that source status will be fetched?
but then how to load that 2 days data alone.
    Kindly advise.
Edited by: neethacj on Mar 7, 2012 1:06 PM

If the cube doesnt have any other targets aprart from this OHD,
delete the two days requests in the cube, set the init from cube to ohd
load the cube for delta( brings two days requests) and run the ohd

  • What is the difference between Open hub destination and Info spokes

what is the difference between Open hub destination and Info spokes?
Please seacrh the forum before posting a thread
Edited by: Pravender on Aug 16, 2010 11:17 AM

    Hi,
When a user initiates open hub extraction by creating an InfoSpoke, behind-the-scenes activity involves OO ABAP which is calling classes to determine each of the different components involved in making the open hub extraction possible.  In particular, this enhancement will focus on 2 standard classes: one used to determine file destination name and path and the other to control the user interface of the InfoSpoke which will ultimately allow the user to enter his/her own filename and path.
The open hub service enables us to distribute data from an SAP BW system into external data marts, analytical applications, and other applications. With this, we can ensure controlled distribution using several systems.
The central object for the export of data is the InfoSpoke. Using this, we can define the object from which the data comes and into which target it is transferred.
