Difference between intranet and internet ?
Does the HttpServletRequest object hold the information if the user is access a website from intranet or internet ?
I neeed this while some users are only allowed to access the website internally. The website uses certificates...
Is there a easy way to do it or do I need to look for the IP numbers?
You need to look at the IP numbers, though even that is probably spoofable.
You could use a separate server IP address or port number for you intranet users and make sure your firewall allows only intranet users onto this.

What is the difference between Firefox and Internet Explorer?
I'm an older woman and it's hard for me to keep up with all the new technology these days. Can someone please explain the difference between Firefox and Internet Explorer? Which one is better to use? Many thanks for your help.
Firefox, Chrome and Internet explorer are all types of Browser; for use (mainly) on the internet, other modern browsers are Safari & Opera.
Just to confuse things slightly, Windows Explorer, is the name of the software that is usually used to look at content (files & folders) on Windows PCs.

Functional difference between Blackberry and Internet Browser on the device
Hello:
Based on the following link, I understand the difference between the Blackberry and Internet browser (http://www.blackberryforums.com.au/forums/blackberry-general-discussion/2815-difference-between-brow...
I was wondering if there are any functional difference between the two, i.e. HTML rendering, images being broken, etc. Under Browser -> Options -> Browser Configuration, If I configure both the Blackberry and Internet browser the same way, will a particular URL behave the same?
I'm in the process of testing our mobile applications on different devices and would appreciate if you could provide the difference, if any between the 2 browsers.
Thanks:
VishalHey vishalt77,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
All BlackBerry smartphones will have Internet Browser for browsing the web.
However if you're on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, you get the BlackBerry Browser which enables you to access internal websites and secured websites.

Intranet and Internet Site deployment
I have to design an Intranet and an Intranet for the same client. Both sites share a few items in common. I have a few questions.
Can both sites have one authoring environment or separate ones.
Can both sites be deployed on the same server or different servers.
Do both sites have to be isolated from each other.
If there is content common among the two sites, how can I share this information. If the main difference between intranet and internet is content or permission to see content, then you should be able to first create a web application for your intranet, then Extend that same web app in to a new authentication zone for the internet.
When you use Extend both sites will share the same content databases, but have distinct Urls and authentication schemes. So in this scenario, all content is common, but you would use permissions to determine what is visible to anonymous users.
If you need greater protection of true intranet content, then you might consider creating a separate web app for intranet, a second for internet authoring, and then extend the internet one to another zone to provide anonymous access. In this case,
to share common content, you could look at the Content Deployment features. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee721058(v=office.14).aspx)
All of these can be on the same server, provided it can be made visible to the public internet through firewalls, etc.
Hope that helps. -

Could N80 be upgraded to N80IE? -
Hello everybody,
I am absolutely a beginner in working with Captivate and furthermore my technological know how is not that good.
So, I have problems to understand if the export formats SWF and F4V are both capable to be published in the Internet as streaming video and as progressive Download? Well so, I do not really understand the difference between streaming and progessive download either?
Furthermore I was asking myself if this issue depends on how I imported flash videos (there are these two options) in my Captivate project during the production phase?
I would be very thankful for some helping information!
Greetings,
Mareike the beginnerWelcome to our community
I'm not certain I fully understand the differences myself, but will toss out what I believe to be true about the formats. Hopefully, if I'm incorrect in my bellief, someone with more definitive knowledge will chime in.
It was explained to me a couple of years back and is my understanding that "streaming" only applies to a video based format such as F4V, FLV and it doesn't apply to SWF. With SWF, you may specify a preload value. So when the SWF transmits from the web server to the PC, a certain percentage has to be received before play begins. But that's not streaming. It's preloading.
For streaming to occur, the web server establishes a communication channel between the server and the destination PC. This channel is monitored to see what speed is in use. Only enough information is then transmitted to be comfortable at that speed. If the speed improves during the connection, the server serves data at a faster rate. If the connection degrades, the information transmitted is also scaled back so as to accommodate the lower speed.
With SWF, after it has all been downloaded, a savvy user is able to poke around in their temporary internet files and save the SWF for play later. With streaming, this isn't possible because as the stream is viewed, it evaporates from memory.
Seriously hoping others will chime in here to confirm or deny this.
Cheers... Rick

What's the difference between Mozilla and Firefox
what's the difference between MOZILLA and FIREFOX?
Firefox doesn't include the SeaMonkey suite.<br />
SeaMonkey is a separate program (not just a browser, but a suite) maintained outside the Mozilla Corporation.
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SeaMonkey
<blockquote>SeaMonkey is a free and open source[3] cross-platform Internet suite.<br />
It is the continuation of the former Mozilla Application Suite, based on the same source code.<br />
<br />
The development of SeaMonkey is community-driven, in contrast to the Mozilla Application Suite, which until its last released version (1.7.13) was governed by the Mozilla Foundation. The new project-leading group is the SeaMonkey Council.

Difference between ITS and WAS server
difference between ITS and WAS server
Hello Pradeep,
The ITS is the Internet Transaction Server. WAS is Web Application Server. I'm not sure how to compare the two because the WAS from Basis 6.40 and higher includes the ITS. I think the question you wanted to ask is the difference between the Standalone ITS and the Integrated ITS???
The Standalone ITS is installed on a web server (IIS or Apache usually). It could also include another server that we call the AGate.
The Integrated ITS comes with the WAS Basis 6.40 and higher. Therefore not needing a separate web server.
There is also a note that lists some differences of the two.

Difference between scripts and idocs
In real time why we are using scripts and idocs?what is the difference between scripts and idocs?pls tell me where we r using scripts and idocs?
Hi,
IDocs are simple ASCII data streams. When they are stored to a disk file, the IDocs are simple flat files with lines of text, where the lines are structured into data fields. The typical structured file has records, each record starting with a leading string that identifies the record type. Their specification is stored in the data dictionary.
Electronic Interchange Document
IDocs is the acronym for Interchange Document. This indicates a set of (electronic) information which builds a logical entity. An IDoc is e.g. all the data of a single customer in your customer master data file, or the IDoc is all the data of a single invoice.
Data Is transmitted in ASCII format, i.e. human readable form
IDoc data is usually exchanged between systems and partners that are completely independent. Therefore, the data should be transmitted in a format that can easily be corrected by the computer operators. It is therefore mandatory to post the data in a human readable form.
Nowadays, this means that data is coded in ASCII format, including numbers which are sent as a string of figures 0 to 9. Such data can easily be read with any text editor on any computer, be it a PC, Macintosh, UNIX System, S/390 or any internet browser.
IDocs exchange messages
The information which is exchanged by IDocs is called a message and the IDoc is the physical representation of such a message. The name messages for the information sent via IDocs is used in the same ways as other EDI standards. .
Scrpits...
If the user wants to print documents such as invoices, purchase order, all such documents are printed with the use of forms. SAP allows the user to define these forms by using layout sets. SAP script is the tool used to create the layout set.
In order to print the document, the SAP system runs a program that collects the data for the document and feeds it into the layout set. This is called as Print Program.
SAP Provides a standard layout set for every printable document and usually there is no need to create layout sets as such. User just modifies the existing layout sets as per requirement of client.

Activity System status: differences between u0093Openu0094 and u0093In processu0094 status
Dear Experts,
Whats the difference between Open and In process system status? In help.sap.com it: There are four system statuses that represent the life cycle of the business transaction:
Open: has been recently created and not yet processed (for example, contract from the Internet)
In process: administrator is clearing up questions
But, how does the system assumes the In Process status ?? Ive tested business activities creation with different employees assigned and, when editing and saving the business activities with these BPs the system status does not change.
However, in other unknown situations the status system is changed to in Process.
Any ideas about the meaning of the In Process status? And when the business activity switches to that?
Thanks in advance,
JoaoHi,
These four system statuses that represent the life cycle of the business transaction:
· Open: has been recently created and not yet processed (for example, contract from the Internet)
· In process: administrator is clearing up questions
· Released: contract is complete and legal. Follow-up processes can be started (printing, billing, distribution, releases and so on)
· Completed: All actions directly linked to contract are completed
· Closed: all actions indirectly linked to the contract are closed (for example, from R/3: batch run to actual costs)
Each status having its own control at the configuration level. If you observe the following process you may understand the importance of various statuses.
For example in any transaction by default status would be Open. Once the transaction opened by the respective responsible person he will change the status as In Process, Once the assigned task is completed he will change the status as Completed.
Please notice the configuration settings in the following navigation path:
SPRO->IMG->CRM->Transactions->Basic Functions->Status Management-> Change Status Profile for User Status->Select Quotation->Double click on the different status. You can observe the difference.
Hope I convinced.
Best Regards,
Johnny.

Whats the difference between bookmarks and favorites?
<blockquote>Locking duplicate thread.<br>
Please continue here: [[/questions/909148]]</blockquote>
What is the difference between bookmarks and favorites? I use favorites, but only see instructions for bookmarks. I use windows 7 and all the folders and individual sites were listed together alphabetically. Now all the folders are listed together, and there are two different sections of alphabetized sites below that. Why? How do I get all the favorites listed together in alphabetical order? The term favorites, or favourites, is used by other browsers such as Internet Explorer, whereas Firefox uses the term bookmarks.
The technology behind the two also differs somewhat, but it is still for instance possible to import favourites from IE to Firefox see

Once the favourites are imported and appended to your bookmarks thay can be organised by dragging and dropping etc
