Difference between Iplanet & sun

What is the difference between iPlanet directory Server and Sun Java Directory server?

iPlanet Dir Server was previously called Netscape Directory Server when it was version 4.X, I think it was renamed to iPlanet Dir Server since version 5.0.
iPlanet Dir Server 5.1 is bundled with Solaris9 and If I am correct also with Solaris10.
iPlanet Dir Server 5.2 is not bundled with Solaris9 or 10, it is also called SUN ONE Dir Server 5.2, it can be downloaded from:

  • What are the differences between iPlanet web servers, enterprise edition 4.1 sp2 and version 6.0

    Hi,
The following are the features of iPlanet Web Server 6.0 which is enhanced from iPlanet Web Server 4.1 release.
You can implement sticky sessions by prefixing the name of the server host that generated the session to the JSESSIONID (the Servlets 2.2 API standard session cookie name). This enables the front-end load balancer to do sticky load balancing, such as forwarding future requests to the same host that generated the session.
Keep-alive handling now thousands of keep-alive connections can be maintained.
Added support for digest authentication as defined in RFC 2617. Digest authentication is used in conjunction with the iPlanet Directory Server 5.0 as an access authentication method that avoids passing the user name and password over the network in an unencrypted form.
    Command Line Administration Tools.
Improved User Interface:-iPlanet Web Server 6.0 provides an improved user interface with the following features:
Magnus Editor ,Class Manager ,.htaccess Configuration
iPlanet Web Server currently provides support for Quality of Protection (QOP)= auth and algorithm = MD5 only.
iPlanet Web Server 6.0 features improved SSL performance and simplified server certificate acquisition from VeriSign.
In general, the authentication mechanisms provided by iPlanet Web Server 6.0, such as basic and digest authentication using LDAP, work across web applications (or servlet contexts). For FORM authentication, you can implement single sign-on using a cookie-based FORM login session created with a virtual-server-wide session manager. This FORM login session is available across all applications within the virtual server and is separate from the regular HTTP session which is limited to the servlet context
You can install iPlanet Web Server 6.0 on multiple machines using templatized installation.
Web Publishing is not supported in iPlanet Web Server 6.0.
Server-Side JavaScript (SSJS) /LiveWire is not supported in iPlanet Web Server 6.0.
Live Connect (LC) is not supported in iPlanet Web Server 6.0.

  • Difference between two iWS

Does anyone know what is difference between
    iPlanet Web Server 6.0
    and
iPlanet Web Server Enterprise Edition 6.0 ?
    I want to know details.
    Thank you

There is only one iPlanet Web Server 6.0 product; both "iPlanet Web Server 6.0" and "iPlanet Web Server, Enterprise Edition 6.0" refer to the same product.

Hi, can anyone tell me what's the difference between Sun ONE Application Server6 and IAS 6.x?

This is only the change in name from iPlanet Application Server to SunONE Application Server. Rest all is same as far as the product is concerned.

  • Differences between SunONE, iPlanet and Netscape Directory Server

What are the differences between SunONE, iPlanet and Netscape Directory Server?
When I go to docs.sun.com - Products Categories, I saw that they've documentation regarding with SunONE, iPlanet, Netscape Directory Server listed under Directory Server.
I know that they're all different directory server, but is it one newer than other? If I'm not wrong, I assumed that Netscape transformed into iPlanet, and then from iPlanet, it transformed to SunONE. If that is the case, is that mean that all of it's console and how it works should be very similar?
    Thanks!

That is exactly what I thought.
so when people refer SunONE Directory Server 5.1, then that's mean iPlanet Directory Server 5.1, right?
Because I'm looking at Solaris 9's specification and it mentioned that it bundled with SunONE Directory Server 5.1.
Thanks for answering my question! :)

  • Difference between 2 timestamp,not considering the weekends (SATURDAY,SUN)

I use an Oracle XE and I have a table which has the following Timestamp columns
    A_Date Timestamp
    R_Date Timestamp
Now in this query i need to be able to exclude the SAT/SUN and show the difference between these 2 timestamp dates.
Could any one help on this?
I use this query to find out the difference between the 2 dates (R_DATE - A_DATE),showing the DAYS:HOURS:MIN:SECS
    TRUNC (TO_NUMBER (SUBSTR ((R_DATE - A_DATE),

  • What's the difference between MSJVM and SUN JVM

Sometimes I can run a program under MSJVM more stable (faster) than that under SUN JVM. Would you please tell me why or tell some difference between them?? Many thanks.

MSJVM has JNI ver. 1.1. My JNI wrapper generator also supports it. I wrote JNI code for MSJVM in 2000.No you didn't.
You either used the MS VM linkage format, which resembles (strongly) how C# does it or you were not using the MS VM but rather the Sun one.
The fact that MS Java supported third party dlls does not make it JNI. JNI was a specific specification on exactly how such support would be provided. And MS Java did not have it.
    References, search for "microsoft"

The following from Microsoft itself asserting that JNI cannot be required part of java. Search for "JNI". Presumably if MS was claiming that it wasn't required then obviously they knew that it wasn't in fact in there.

  • Difference between Sun and IBM JSSE implementations?

    Hi!
We have an applet done with Sun JDK 1.4.2-03 which has to connect a domino server in SSL mode.
During the handshake the connection breaks down.
The most surpising thing is to use IBM JDK to generate the applet, and the applet works.
So we are thinking that there are some differences between these jdk (and so jre) which makes connections available or not.
Does or did someone have the same problem, and find a solution ?
    Thanks for your help.

  • Difference between Sun Enterprise Systems and JCAPS

    Hi,
Can somebody explain to me the differences between Sun ES and JCAPS? Is it true that JCAPS is buit on top of Sun ES? Also, does JCAPS refer to a single product or a collection of products? Which are the products needed for a developer to start off?
    Thanks

    hi *,
CAPS is based on ES komponents like appserver or JMS server.
CAPS is one product (one ide & environment) with many modules (connectivity , bpm .....)
many products best is to read the manuals http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/prod/sj.caps#hic
