Difference between LCM & Simple Export/Import

Hi,
I just want to know the difference between these two.. migrating the reports using LCM or by a simple import & export.
Will LCM even migrate the user security which is associated with the report??
Can anybody throw some light on this.

Lifecycle management is an application for managing EPM Artifacts for such areas as migration and can be automated, simple import/export is a manual process
Basically they are doing the same thing, security can be migrated using LCM, I am not so sure how good it is at workspace security but in theory with newer versions of LCM all areas should be covered.
Cheers

  • What's the difference between full & large when importing video?

In my preference menu, it shows I can import video as either full-original size or large-960x540. Does it make a difference in the size of the file, in the quality of the view, in what can be done with the file? Also, can I determine whether I want it imported as a .mov or .dv or .iprojectimovie? Thanks

since vers08, it is a well-known fact, that iM can not handle interlaced material, there are tons of threads on this topic alone on this board. and it seems as though, that iM does a very 'simple' de-interlacing, by dropping one field: 1920x1080i => 1920x540'p'
I don't like to go into detail, but modern hardware, beyond tubes and arial broadcast, doesn't use, can not handle interlace, any flat-screen, computer or TV, de-interlaces anyhow.
so, if you need for any reason, that extra horizontal resolution, keep it full, otherwise use large.

  • Color difference between LR and Export?

    Hey there,
I've upgrade my system, installed Win 8.1 fresh, latest Lightroom, etc.
I'm using an Eizo CG 277 Monitor which is calibrated.
When re-importing my catalog, I noticed that there seemed to be a change in saturation, I had to correct
    many photos.. no idea why.
I then did a test export, JPEG, 90% Quality, no resizing and compared it in Firefox and other programmes.
The photo really had different colors in LR and Firefox, and I have no idea why. Here is a sample that should
show the difference, left is LR, right is Firefox:

Can anyone tell me what I have missed? I don't get it.. but I can't work like this.

    D'oh...
I've restarted Windows and now it seems to be gone... is it possible that if I do a calibration while LR is running, it will not
update the profile somehow? Very weird..

  • Difference between table or export in return

Hi, i´m creating bapi wrappers with the wizard... but, by the end screen, appear that i have choose between Export or Tables about parameter RETURN, what is the difference from the two selections?
    Thanks,

    Hi Victor,
this is a typical ABAP coding question.
Well, this wizard is the same as creating the code directly in SE37 - and there you have to choose between Tables or an Export parameter as well. At the end it is a historical problem: long time ago, it was not possible to have tables as export parameters. Today, to be close to the standard, you should only use import and export parameters - they recommend not to use tables any longer. But at the end - it is your choice which of these two options you choose - both are working at the end.
    Hope this helps.

  • What is the difference between formats when exporting playlists in iTunes?

The available options are plain or unicode text, XML, M3U and M3U8 when exporting a playlist. Is there a difference in "functionality" of a particular format or is it merely a matter of compatibility with a particular platform or software? In particular I am trying to figure out if a playlist from iTunes would be able to be read and "processed" on a flash drive plugged into a late model car stereo which has a USB port.
    MacBook 4,1    (13-inch Early 2008)
    OSX 10.6.8
    iTunes 11.3.1 (2)

.m3u8 should be the same as .m3u but with slightly different handling of Unicode characters that fall outside of the standard set of ASCII symbols. iTunes can import and export all three formats but .m3u is probably the one your car stereo will be looking for. iTunes will export a playlist with absolute file paths for each track however for your purpose what you probably need is all of the tracks placed in the root of the drive and to edit the .m3u file to exclude all but the filename so that a relative link from the same folder as the .m3u identifies the file.
I wrote a Windows only script for this task a while back, as discussed here: Re: Copying playlist to USB ?

  • Difference between capture schema and import/register schema

As far as versioning control, what are the differences, if any, between 1.) capturing a schema's objects thru design editor and 2.) importing and registering a schema?

Capturing a schema will create instances of the TABLE type in the Designer model.
Registration creates a new model with new types in the Repository.

NO, AFAIK, static variables, private or otherwise arent inherited. Please note that doesnt mean, its not available in the sub-class. Infact it is. However you cannot override or hide them ie polymorphism isnt applicable to static members which is what , IMO, inheritance is all about. Its logical, when you think about it, polymorphism is applicable for objects and static is a class thinggy, has nothing to do with objects.

  • Export ,import efficiency

    Hi,
I have a basic question here. Which is more efficient exp/imp or the expdp/impdp and why? I would like to read about it. good documents are welcomed.
    Thanks
    Kris

    Hi ,
Definetly expdp/impdp(Datapump export import) is much better than original exp/imp which is more
    used in oracle 9i Databases.
Top 10 difference between exp/imp(export/import) and expdp/impdp(Datapump export and import) are:
1)Data Pump Export and Import operate on a group of files called a dump file set
rather than on a single sequential dump file.
2)Data Pump Export and Import access files on the server rather than on the client.
This results in improved performance. It also means that directory objects are
required when you specify file locations.
3)The Data Pump Export and Import modes operate symmetrically, whereas original
export and import did not always exhibit this behavior.
For example, suppose you perform an export with FULL=Y, followed by an import using SCHEMAS=HR. This will produce the same results as if you performed an
export with SCHEMAS=HR, followed by an import with FULL=Y.
4)Data Pump Export and Import use parallel execution rather than a single stream of
execution, for improved performance. This means that the order of data within
dump file sets and the information in the log files is more variable.
5)Data Pump Export and Import represent metadata in the dump file set as XML
documents rather than as DDL commands. This provides improved flexibility for
transforming the metadata at import time.
6)Data Pump Export and Import are self-tuning utilities. Tuning parameters that
were used in original Export and Import, such as BUFFER and RECORDLENGTH,
are neither required nor supported by Data Pump Export and Import.
7)At import time there is no option to perform interim commits during the
restoration of a partition. This was provided by the COMMIT parameter in original
    Import.
8)There is no option to merge extents when you re-create tables. In original Import,
this was provided by the COMPRESS parameter. Instead, extents are reallocated
according to storage parameters for the target table.
9)Sequential media, such as tapes and pipes, are not supported.
10)The Data Pump method for moving data between different database versions is
different than the method used by original Export/Import. With original Export,
you had to run an older version of Export (exp) to produce a dump file that was
compatible with an older database version. With Data Pump, you can use the
current Export (expdp) version and simply use the VERSION parameter to specify the target database version

  • Difference between "Archive/restore" and "Export/import"

What's the difference between the utilities "Archive/restore" and "Export/import"?
Which utility must I use for putting my maps from a development environment to a production environment?
For the moment I am using version 9.0.3.
I will migrate to 9.2 when the version for AIX is available.

    Marc,
You should use OWB Metadata Export/Import utilities (not to be confused with Database Export/Import utilities).
The Archive and Restore utilities will be desupported in the next release of OWB.
The exact differences are documented in "OWB 9.2 User Guide", page 15-12, "Differences Between Archive and Export" and page 15-23, "Differences Between Restore and Import". The same sections are available in "OWB 9.0.3 User Guide", pages 11-45 and 11-46 respectively.

  • PDF export : difference between JRC and Server

    Hello,
We can see differences between the pdf export with Crystal Reports Server 2008 and the Java Reporting Component.
The most important difference is the font size wich are bigger on the PDF exported via the JRC.
We also saw a size difference with the frames.
Can you tell us the reason of those differencies ? Could there be a parametrizing to do to correct this ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Florian

The JRC uses a different export functionality, and has a different print engine than Crystal Reports Server.  While the JRC object model appears to be the same as the RAS object model, underneath the way the reports are processed and subsequently exported is different.
The JRC does not do font embedding when exporting to PDF; thus if your font in the report cannot be found on the machine with the PDF it may look different.  As well, because the JRC doesn't do font embedding, it relies on the language packs for Adobe which consist of languages within the WINANSI 1252 codepage, and some specific Asian fonts.
That all being said, if you have ensured that your fonts fit within the above criteria, make sure you have all of the latest updates for the JRC installed; alot of font problems have been fixed.

  • Database Migration 10g, difference in export/import from 8.1.6 and DBUA

i would like to know if there is any difference in migrating using export/import methods from 8.1.6 and migration using dbua from 8.1.6 -> 8.1.7 -> 10g. In terms of tablespaces, datafiles performance .
Will the DBUA convert the tablespaces automatically to take advantage of 10g ?
    Thanks .

    Hi,
If we refer to the Oracle doc, it's depend of your 10g release.<br>
Into Upgrade Paths 10.2, you need to upgrade your 8i firstly in 8.1.7.4.<br>
Into Upgrade Paths 10.1, you you can directly migrate.<br>
Anyway, you need to use 8iexp utility, and 10g imp utility : Using Different Releases of Export and Import 10.1 or Using Different Releases of Export and Import 10.2.<br>

  • Aperture 2 - Backup differences between Vault backup & Project export

Any difference between Vault and exporting projects individually to Ext. HD..
Is this a DOUBLE backup? what is the safest way if you want to secure master and edited versions and then restore them individually?
Message was edited by: Host <to clarify Subject>

Yes it's a double back-up but there are some differences.
The vault is easier as you don't have to think. Masters, versions and everything else are backed up.
However to restore from the vault you have to restore your ENTIRE library you cannot restore projects.
The vault does not back up referenced Masters. You have to do that yourself though it will back up any versions, book, web galleries etc that you make from those Masters.
Export project will back up referenced Masters IF you select the consolidate Masters option.
Personally I use the vault for back-up and the export project feature for moving from machine to machine.
    Hope this helps.

  • What is the difference between these export settings?

I'm trying to find out the difference between the following export settings:
    HD 720p 25
    Vimeo HD 720p 25
    You Tube HD 720p 25
The all appear to have different file sizes yet the exported videos seem identical.

Reason: to make the title more searchable

    Hi Brian,
If you want to specifically upload to YouTube, then use the YouTube preset for best results. As for the customer website, that depends, many folks use Flash videos. Unless this is some lengthy video that takes hours and hours to encode, you can certainly make a couple of versions for different uses rather than locking in on a single format.
And you're right, there may not be any "noticeable difference" between the various encodes...to the human eye. To YouTube or Vimeo, they would see the difference.

  • Difference between simple beans and EJB

Anybody knows... the difference between the simple beans and EJB... Pls share with all. thanks a lot.

The Verrrrrrrrry short scoop is that JavaBeans pretty much just adhere to a standard format, mostly getters and setters. EJBs work only within a specific framework - an EJB container, and have access to J2EE support. For a detailed look at EJBs, see my tutorial Getting Started with Enterprise JavaBeans Technology at the developerWorks Java zone:
