Difference between Linksys SRW224G4 & Cisco SF300-24

Hi Guys
I was wondering if there was a difference between the Linksys SRW224G4 & Cisco SF300-24 switches. Going through the support docs I see the SF300 has limited L3 functionality in terms of being able to establish static routes between VLANS. Any further information would be of use.
Also any recommendations for an equivalent switch for access layer/distribution layer use would be most welcome
Thanks
GR

SF300-24 is a brand new product with vast improvements over SRW224G4. Here's a few of the major ones:
1)    1) Overall Value:
-          > 80 New software features:
o   Layer 3 Routing for improved network performance where multiple VLANs are used
o   IPv6 support to protect investments as you evolve your network to the Next Generation Internet
o   Advanced VLAN Services enabling new application support (Voice VLAN, Guest VLAN, MAC-based VLAN, Protocol-based VLAN, Dynamic VLAN assignment)
o   Advanced Security – Denial of Service Attack prevention, Protected ports, Private VLAN Edge
o   Unique things to Cisco - like CDP, Auto Smartports, CCA, FindIT - deliver simplified management and autodiscovery
o   Others including Energy Efficiency, IGMP Querier, LLDP-MED, Time-based 802.1x, etc
-          Numerous hardware enhancements
o   Energy-efficient technology, helping save power and reduce costs
o   Fanless designs on many models for silent operation
o   Advanced and latest silicon with larger memory and flash footprints deliver confidence in this state of the art solution
-          More ports per Gigabit switch. In the case of low density (10 port), equates to 25% more ports. With 24-port switches, 16% more ports
-          Very competitively priced – in most cases below comparative competitive products while delivering more capabilities
2)     2) Unique Cisco Value deliver simplified management and autodiscovery – CDP, Smartports, CCA, FindIT
3)   3) Lifetime Warranty with Next Business Day Advanced Replacement (where available) and lifetime warranty on power supplies and fans
4)     4) Localization into seven languages - English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese

  • Difference between Aironet & Linksys

    Hello Experts,
I want to know the configuration difference between Cisco Aironet (like 2600, 1600 series) & Cisco Linksys APs.
Currently we have Cisco Linksys APs installed in our company , but we want to replace them with Cisco Aironet. so that is why i want to know is Aironet AP  configuration the same as Linksys AP ? is it same Graphical Interface or how ??  does it have simple configuration like linksys ?
Also please let me know about WLC configuration as well.  is it extremely tough,  do i need a training for that ?
Actually i have worked alot on Cisco Routing/Swifting , Security sides,  but dont know about wireless
please share your views and comments
    Thanks

    Hi Waheed,
Both Linksys and Cisco AP's can be configured through GUI. But as far as i know Linksys AP can not be configured through command line interface where as Cisco AP can be configured through command line interface
With regards to simplicity of configuration Linksys would be the easiest when compared to WLC and standalone Cisco AP.
Personally i think WLC confguration is simpler than stand alone AP as long as you know what you are doing :-) There are lot of configuration guide out there available on Cisco website with regards to WLC configuration or Cisco standalone AP configuration and i dont think you need any training for this.

  • Difference between N+1 HA model and traditional secondary/Tertiary Cisco 5508 Model.

    Hi Team
we are going to implement N+1 HA cisco WLC high availability for that we have procured one WLC 5508.
However i am not able to find out difference between N+1 and secondary WLC configured under each AP in wireless tab ?
As per my understanding both are giving the same functionality. Can you please highlight any difference ?
    Thanks....

    Hi Scott
Thanks a lot for the information .This is very useful. However i need one small clarification..
    There are three redundancy model..
1+1  where you need one WLC acts HA SKU
N+1 Where one WLC is backup for all N WLC
Third and last one is , where we mention the secondary and tertiary WLC under wireless tab.
So i want to know the difference between second and third option.

  • Difference between cisco prime infrastructure and cisco WCS

Can you explain me difference between cisco prime infrastructure and cisco WCS.. I'm little bit confuse...
    Thanks..

    Hi Hasan,
In terms of features...You can say PI is more advanced version of WCS and NCS. All the stuff possible in WCS/NCS can be done on PI as well.
But from the architecture perspective , there are differences. If I remember correctly , WCS is based on 32 bit OS while NCS and PI based on 64 bit OS. For the same reason you cannot do inline upgrade from WCS to PI via any path and will have to change the platform/Hardware itself before moving to PI. However , inline upgrade from NCS to PI is possible if we follow the correct path.

  • What is the difference between MCU & Cisco TelePresence Server?

    Hello Pros,,
I would like an answer for this question "What is the difference between MCU & Cisco TelePresence Server?" to help us find a solution that best fits our requirements .
also I would appreciate it if you refer to a document that directly discusses the difference in a straight-forward manner.
Thanks for taking the time trying to help ,,

Nothing much has changed on the MCU side, it still has the same feature set really.  Only things that are notable that have changed is the addition of ClearPath and encryption for SIP calls are the two biggest features in the latest release, don't expect any large features for the MCU as Cisco works to leverage everyone to migrate to the TelePresence Server as most of the MCU product line can be migrated to a TelePresence Server and that is where the most active development is.
Recent MCU changes can be seen in the MCU 4.5 Release Notes.
Recent TelePresence Server changes can be seen in the TPS 4.0 Release Notes and TPS 4.1 Release Notes.
In the most recent TPS 4.1 release, which came out last month, no MCU features were added because they were focusing most if not all the development on scheduling with TMS and Conductor, and to improve the existing TPS features already in place.

  • Difference between Source & DESTINATION GROUP RULE in Cisco CSS

    Hello All,
I am newbie for CSS. I know how flow works for normal CSS request without group rule. But whenever it comes to group rule I am pretty much
    confuse about following:
    - When we use source group rule & when we use destination group rule ?
    - What is difference between them ?
    - How the flow of data works in both of them?
Any help or explanation would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Me too

the group rule determines in which direction you will do nat . consider
    group USHA
      vip address 10.86.178.244
      add service Ushatest
      active
add service says that if the server we defined with service Ushatest initiates a connection outbound through the CSS we will source nat the server address to 10.86.178.244
    now consider
    group DOT005
      add destination service dot008
      add destination service dot014
      vip address 10.86.178.5
we are saying that when a client hits a content rule to get loadbalanced to one of the services we will nat the client address to 10.86.178.5
in both cases nat is overloaded (pat) so many connections can be natted to the same address.
In the case where you have a content rule that loadbalances to a server and that server does not use the CSS as its default gateway w would use add destination service to get the return traffic back to the CSS.
In the case where a server is initiating the connection and we want to hide the server address we would use add service.

  • Differences between E900/1000/1200 !

    Hi,
I have a Linksys WAG120N router, i don't like it because some features is no longer working such as the internet disable by MAC "LAN" and other stuff, so i decided to upgrade to the E Series and i have three questions hope some good answers
    1st question# what's the differences between E900/1000/1200!
all three are so close in price range in my countery 89$/75$/82$ > E900 is the most expensive!.
2nd question# in my countery all three modes code is E900-ME/E1000-ME/E1200-ME is there any defferances from the original models or this is just region code ? "iam from EGYPT btw"
3rd question# will i gain any additional features or better performance such as wirless range comparing with my WAG120N?
    Thanks...

E1200 and E1000 dont have any big difference but with E900 using Cisco Connect Software it doesnt have a guest access feature. But how it performs it is also similar with the 1st two I mentioned.
I believe that I can make it

Panziesforpanties is correct. Cisco/Linksys changed their marketing strategy from "connect cloud" to "smart wifi". Same product....different marketing packaging.
