Difference between new GL & Classic GL

Hi
I request everyone to help me understand the difference between new GL and Classic GL.
Basically a new GL has following features:-
1. Segmental Reporting
2. Parallel Currencies
3. Generation of Balance Sheets @ Profit Center Level
4. Legal Consolidation
I believe all the above features can also be achieved in Classic GL.
Also what is the difference between Business Area & Segments?
Pls help.
Thanks,
Srikanth

Hi Srikanth,
One of the the core differnences between New GL and Glassic Gl is online integration of  items like PCA,segments,Business area etc with GL.
In classic GL we need to do a lot of periodic closing activities to get restricted Balance sheet at these levels.
with online document split enabled in New gl these periodic activities are gone.
Differnce between business areas and segments:
both can be used to draw financial statements at other than co.code level. But for segmental reporting you need to have PCA as segments can be derived only thru Profit center. (BADI available in other cases)whereas Business areas are cross co.code settings so you can assign them to sales area/plant/divsion combination for derivation which remains the same as classic gl.
Hope this helps.
Pls assign points if it does.
Thanks,
vamsi

  • Difference between New G/L Segment and Profitability Segment

    Dear friends,
Can somebody explain what is the difference between New G/L segment and Profitability segment.
    Thanks, Prakash

    Hi,
Segment in New G/L is puerly for external reporting purpose.A segment is a sub area of a company for which has separate financial data and which has expenses and losses. For this segment we need virtually complete balance sheet for external reporting purpose.
Profitability segment is for analysis of profit within the organisation.A Profitability segment is a combination of different characteristic for which we want to analyse sales revenue and cost. These characteristic can be any thing for example customer, product, sales organisation etc.
For example We want to analyse what is the total sales of product A for customer group B under the sales organisation XYZ. Here profitability segment = Product+customer group +sales organisation

  • Difference between New Formula and Formula Variable

Can any body explain what is the difference between  New Formula and Formula Variable.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Formula:http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d3/8057f830a911d4b2be0050dadfb23f/frameset.htm
Formula Variable:If you want use variables in the formulas of a form, you need to use formula variables. You can use formula variables only in form reports, and must define them in the form itself. They can be replaced in the same ways as text variables when you execute the report.

  • Difference between New Archieve and New Patch

    Hi,
I am going through import and export topics of LCA files (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/workbenchHelp/help.htm?content=000276.html ). I understood how we can create new Archieves and import it to another environments. But I am not able to understand about patches.
In both the cases, I am doing the same thing. I am creating archieve of the application. I am sure, there would be difference between "new archive" and "Patch" but not able to figure out.
Can anyone let me know if I create new archieve and Patch, then what is the visual differences i can look in both the archieves??????
    Regards
    Sunil

patching is related to component of LiveCycle.
these are  basically jar files updated with new one. For more please look here.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/workbenchHelp/help.htm?content=000960.html
LCA files are simply archive file of the processes/application that you create in workbench. These archive files can be import to other environment  at later stage.

  • Difference between new network and extended network

Difference between extended network and new network settings

An "extended" network acts as one large wireless network. Wireless devices can roam anywhere a signal is present and stay on the network without having to make any changes.
A "new" network will require that a wireless device manually "switch" to that network and enter the password for the network to connect whenever you want to use that network. In other words, a "new" network will use a different wireless network name and password, which will require that you manually log on to that network.
The exception would be if you created a "new" wireless network and used the same wireless network name, same wireless security settings and same password as the "main" network and connected the AirPort back to the main router using an Ethernet cable. In that case, you would have an "Ethernet extended wireless" network.

  • What's the difference between new Apple TV and last one

What's the difference between the last Apple TV model and the new one? Do I need to buy the new one or will the sofware update catch me up to the same standard as the new one?

The bottom line is that the new one will output 1080p, this is achieved by an upgraded processor and reportedly additional RAM.
There are no additional features included in the new model that aren't included the older one other than the higher resolution output.

  • Difference between service procurement classic and extended classic?

I could you find any document for extended classic.
Could anybody help explain what is different between the 2 classics?
    Thanks!

In the Extended Classic scenario, the entire procurement process takes place locally in EBP (SRM)  and a copy of the data is replicated to the back-end system. In essence, this scenario is an extension of the Classic Scenario.
The purchase order in the back-end SAP system (ERP , R/3 System)  is a read-only copy that enables goods receipt, service entry, and invoice verification in the back-end system. The back-end purchase order cannot be changed. If you wish to make any changes to the purchase order, you must do so in EBP i.e. SRM system. Once you save these changes, they are transferred to the back-end purchase order.
While in Classic Scenario , The PO is created in the backend ERP system once the SC is approved.
In brief , you can say while in extended classic scenario , the backend ERP system is a read only system and we do everything is EBP (SRM) system only. and in Classic Scenario , ERP system was used to generate the purchase orders.
Hope it clarifies and gives you a little visiblity on what is the difference between both.

  • Difference between "new classname()" and  class.forName("...")?

    Hi,
    Please clarify me : What is the difference between the instnce creation by using new operator *( new ClassName())* and instance creation using class.forName("fully Qualified Name");
    thanks
    Gaurav

The compiler can tell you whether new ClassName() will be valid. For the other, you have to wait until runtime to know for sure.
new ClassName(...) can be invoked with arguments, and you provide them directly and simply. If you want to reflectively create an instance using a constructor that takes arguments, it's a more convoluted process.
Using new, you know which checked exceptions can be thrown and you catch them directly. Using reflection, you have to catch some other exception and unravel its cause.
You can use reflection (Class.forName and its more complicated cousins) when you don't know the classname at compile time. You can't do this with new.
Don't use reflection unless you have to. It's more complex, somewhat less performant, and it denies you certain compile time checks.

  • Any difference between new and old wireless Mighty Mouse?

    Hello,
I got an "old" wireless Mighty Mouse (the one with the grey side buttons) from my father. Now I am wondering if there is any difference between this mouse and the new one, besides the color change of the side buttons. I checked my mouse against the tech specs on the Apple Mighty Mouse site, and they seem to be absolutely identical, but still, I would like to hear this from an expert, which I hope to find here . Also, does anyone know where to find the user’s guide for the wireless mouse online? I have been searching the whole Apple site, but found it nowhere.
Thanks in advance for your answers.

  • Sound difference between an ipod classic 160gb 2009 and an ipod 80gb

    hi
iv had my ipod classic 80 gb since 2007 and just a couple of weeks ago i bought a pair of dr dre headphones solos and i tried them out on an ipod touch and the sound is much better and i was wondering if the sound would be better is i bought the newest ipod classic?

I have the Dr Dre beats headphones as well. I have the 160GB iPod Classic (2007) and I have the 64GB 3g iPod Touch. I think that the sound out of the iPod Classic is crisper and cleaner than the sound out of the iPod Touch. I did this comparison using the same settings (Equalizer was OFF) and same bit rate etc. The difference between the two machines was not great either however it was noticeable.
When you compare the two with your Dr Dre Solos are you using the same sound settings on the two iPods? Ensure that the Equalizer is either turned OFF or the same setting is used on both. The other thing is to check and see that the music that is used to compare with is using the same bit rate. In other words make sure that you comparing apples to apples.

  • Difference between new graphic cards?

can anyone tell me if there is a big difference between the NVIDIA GeForce 9400M and ATI Radeon HD 4670 with 256MB graphics card?
I am about to get an imac for my wife. It will be our home computer but she will be using it for World of Warcraft as well. I play on a new macbook and I was just wondering if there is a huge difference in each card.
    Thanks for any help

Yes. There is a significant difference between those two options. THe NVIDIA 9400M has good performance for the low-end option, but it does not have dedicated VRAM. It uses 256mb of system RAM for that purpose, often called integrated or shared memory. The ATI Radeon HD 4670 has 256mb of dedicated VRAM. That's not the only difference, but for graphically intensives uses, such as WoW and other similar games, the ATI Radeon HD 4670 would provide better performance.
However, a MacBook (not "Pro") also uses the NVIDIA 9400M. Therefore, if performance is acceptable for doing the same things the iMac will do, then the iMac with NVIDIA 9400M should be fine as well, since it is the same graphics processor paired with a faster CPU.

  • Difference between new iMac processors 3.5 GHz Quad i5 vs 4.0 GHz Quad i7

The only major software I use is Aperture and Photo Elements.
I have Bento about 7000 entries.
I am retired, no business app.
I am one of those that believe get the top of the line it will last an extra year or 2 of viable usage .
    My current iMac is:
    2008, 3.06 GHz Core 2 Duo with 4GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS 512 MB
    Any thoughts ?
    Thanks
    Greg

The Flash drive will provide faster access to data, but does not directly affect the processor.
If you don't need the extra space, then go for the smaller Flash drive to keep data access times at their peek.
As to the difference between an i5 and i7 obviously the processor speed is one. But buffer, and cache and other specs that will aid in performance may be different.
If money is no object go top of the line.  Otherwise the i5 should work fine for what you want to do, and will be a marked improvement over what you have now.

  • Any software differences between new airport express and extreme?

I was wondering if there are any features or configuration differences between the two, such as configuring VPN passthrough.
The only difference I can see is using the USB for hard drive use.
Also, do you think the performance will be similar.  I know the time capsule actually rated slower than the extreme even though they use similar hardware.

You can find all the differences between the AirPort Express and Extreme in this website > http://www.apple.com/compare-wifi-models/
