Difference between OBI apps and OFSAA

Hi,
In my next project I need to work on OFSAA, so I did some google and found some related topics like OBI apps and OFSAA. Can anyone put some light on the differences among two. What I got if from some blogs/article about these terms are like:
OFSAA: Oracle Financial Services Analytical Applications Infrastructure is the complete end-to-end Business Intelligence solution that is easily accessible via your desktop. Its single interface lets you tap your company's vast store of operational data to track and respond to business trends.
OBI Apps: It is a complete end to end BI environment covering BI platform (BI server including ETL and reporting tool) and pre-packaged analytic applications (pre-built reports, dashboards, alerts using OBIEE).
As from the above definition, I can not find out the major and distinctive differences between the two so could anyone help me in putting some light to these terms.
Your help would really be appreciated.
Thanks.

I believe these are 2 completely separate and unrelated systems/solutions. OFSSA is an acquisition Oracle made ONLY for pure play BANKING software. It has its own technology and metadata stack. This includes Risk Management, etc.
Check here for details: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E28033_01/books/Infrastructure/OFSAAI_7.3_User_Manual.pdf
OBIA is a pre packged DW solution from Oracle for ALL ERPs (PSoft, EBS, JDE, etc) for multiple industry areas (Financials, Human Resources, CRM, etc)
Oracle will probably try to integrate OFSSA with more Oracle technologies in the coming future (FMW, Exalytics, etc). For now, these are 2 unrelated solutions and systems.
Pls mark correct if this is helpful

  • Difference between classic App and EPMA Appl

    hi,
I am very new to hfm...
So could you plz explain about what is difference between Classic Application and EPMA Application.
In which cases we will create these applications.
What is the uses of Both Applications?
How do we create EPMA Application? Usually which application is more flexible?
    Edited by: 809370 on Dec 6, 2010 5:24 AM

    Hi,
The basic difference is that you would be able to share dimensions across applications through EPMA.If you have a Planning application and a HFM app. and they both use a same dimension, then you don't need to create the dimension twice in EPMA. You can share the dimension across both applications. 'Dimension Library' enables youto do that.

  • Can someone explain the difference between photos app and iphoto for iphone?

I recently downloaded the iphoto app to my iPhone 4s. I am hoping to clear up some space on my iphone and I deleted some pics from what I thought was the camera roll within iphoto. I noticed later that while attempting to change my wallpaper, I noticed that pics I thought I deleted were still on the phone as evidenced by their availability to be used as wallpaper. I checked that I had selected cameral roll and not photostream, where it would make sense the photos would still be there. When I left settings I noticed that I have iphoto and the phots app on my iphone. Do I need both? And if i want to delete photos, do I need to delete photos from the cameral roll within iphoto AND the photos app???? I really need someone to make sense of all this photo business!

The "Photos" application is built into the phone and is meant only for viewing and making small edits (crop, auto-enhance, etc.) to photos in your Camera Roll and other photos synced onto your phone via iTunes.
iPhoto for iOS is a new application which is meant to allow you to organize your photos, share them via sideshows or "journals" and make mode substantial edits (contrast, brightness, sharpness, photo effects, etc.)
Keep in mind that iPhoto or any other app from the App Store does not have the ability to delete photos from your Camera Roll. What you did is probably hit the x icon which hides the photo from your iPhoto library but it remains in your Camera Roll. To delete photos, they must be deleted from the Photos app. Oce they are deleted from your Camera Roll they will no longer show up in iPhoto.

  • Is there a difference between server apps and Servlets?

I am trying to figure out if I should write a server application or a servlet and I am trying to get some info on both.

Thanks for the responses, they make sense based on what I've read so far.
So let's say you have a server application as opposed to a servlet for a web application. How do you tell the application that you want it to do something? Is it standard practice these days to put the server-side code on a webserver, even if this isn't for a web application, and then have the entry point into the server-side code be a class that extends GenericServlet? Or is it more common (or better, or whatever) to have a server process (like a crontab job) start a Java program that sets up a ServerSocket?
I'm learning the servlet stuff now, but I'm experiencing the same frustrations I have all along when learning various aspects of Java: even the best books tend to focus on one or two ways of doing things, and figuring out if it's the best way to do what I want to do is difficult, since the other ways aren't dealt with all that much and hardly any comparisons are made.
    Thanks for the input,
    Rich

  • Difference between using app server connection pooling and using the driver

    Hi all,
How to get connection pooling with out application server and tomcat also?
What is the difference between using app server connection pooling and using the driver supported connection pooling?

maybe the performance of App server pool is better than the JDBC pool,
for you don't know wether the implementation of the JDBC interface is good or bad.

  • Key differences in OBI Apps Spend Procurement and Spend Classification

    Hi,
Can someone please explain the key differences in OBI Apps Spend Procurement and Spend Classification version 7.9.6.2 vs. version 7.9.6.3?
    Regards
    Vanaja

There doesnt seem to be much diferences in terms of functionality or features. If you check the release notes..there are a few differences in the 7963 release related to bugs or packaging:
If this is helpful or correct, please mark the response as correct or helpful.
Here are some of the sections from the release notes:
Section 1.3.28, "Currency Conversion Not Done in Purchase Agreement for Oracle Procurement and Spend Analytics"
*1.3.32 'Days Payables Outstanding' and 'AP Turnover' Columns Are Missing*This issue applies to only those Oracle BI Applications customers who have implemented Procurement and Spend Analytics without implementing Financial Analytics.
*1.3.43 Oracle EBS 12.1.3 - Contract Lifecycle Management Impact on Oracle BI Applications Release 7.9.6.3*This issue applies to only those Oracle BI Applications customers who have implemented Procurement and Spend Analytics for E-Business Suite (EBS) 12.1.3 along with Feature Pack for Oracle Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) for Public Sector. CLM Feature Pack is deployed as an add-on to Oracle EBS 12.1.3 for delivering an integrated acquisition management solution for federal government procurement.
CLM functionality has introduced changes to the Oracle EBS data model that affects data extraction and loading for Oracle Procurement and Spend Analytics. Customers with Oracle EBS 12.1.3 and the CLM feature pack must apply additional filters to exclude CLM records and to ensure that it does not interfere with V7.9.6.3 Procurement and Spend Analytics functionality.
    Workaround
No work-around is available for this issue.
*1.3.56 EXPENSE_INVOICE_POSTED_DT Not Pulled From AP_CHECKS_ALL.CHECK_DATE for Oracle E-Business Suite*This issue affects Oracle Procurement and Spend Analytics. The measure 'Expense Reimbursement Cycle Time' as shipped with this release does not work in the subject area Employee Expenses – Overview. The measure uses the column EXPENSE_INVOICE_POSTED_DT_WID in the fact table W_EXPENSE_F fact, but this column is sourced from AP_EXPENSE_REPORT_HEADERS_ALL.EXPENSE_LAST_STATUS_DATE during ETL.
    Workaround
This issue is addressed by Oracle E-Business Suite patch 10038359.

  • What is the difference between Video-out and mirroring?

What is the difference between Video-out and mirroring? I can't get iPhone 4 video to work on my TV screen
I have just bought an MD098ZM/A (Apple 30-pin Digital AV Adapter). I am struggling to get it to show a picture on my TV. I know I'm doing something right because the audio is coming out of my TV speakers but no picture on the TV screen.
I have used the same HDMI channel (on the TV side) with the same cable and my thunderbolt port (MacBook Air) without any trouble - and on the same app (BBC iPlayer download then full-screen mode).
Now I note that the packaging for the MD098ZM/A says video-out on iPhone 4 but mirroring only on iPhone 4S. I only have an iPhone 4 (not the 4S). Now if the lack of iPhone 4 support for mirroring means that I can't play video material out to my TV, then in what sense is there any video-out capability at all?
There is only safety and warranty paperwork in the Apple adapter packaging - no help information. And I haven't found further guidance online either.
I do note somewhere online that it suggests that basic non-mirroring video-out (for this adapter) only works with some external TV sets. Any way of finding out which? I'm using a Sanyo CE32LD90-B LCD TV if it helps.
So far not doing very well.

Now found these but have had to give up on this adapter!

  • Difference between 'materialized vews' and snapshots

    Hello,
    i have two questions:
what the difference between 'materialized vews' and snapshots? In fact, in create thoses Oracle Objects:
create materialized view log on T1
         Create materialized view T1_MV
              Build immediate
              Refresh fast on commit
              As Select COL1,COL2 from T1
         Create snapshot T1_SNAPSHOT
         Build immediate
         Refresh fast on commit
         As Select COL1,COL2 from T1
and in find that T1_MV and T1_SNAPSHOT have the same caracteristics in dba_tables and DBA_SNAPSHOTS and DBA_MVIEWS.
seconde question: what's the difference between DBA_SNAPSHOTS
    and DBA_MVIEWS tables?
    I work under oracle 9i
    thinks for response.

Backwards compatibility. Some apps might reference DBA_SNAPHOTS and it would be a PITA to change them. Eventually Oracle might decide that it's a greater PITA for them to keep those views and ditch 'em.
    Cheers, APC

  • In OSX Activity Monitor, what's the difference between 'free' memory and 'inactive' memory

In OS X Activity Monitor, what's the difference between 'free' memory and 'inactive' memory. My daughters 2Gb MacBook Pro is very slow, it probably needs more memory but there is almost 1Gb of 'inactive' memory but no 'free' memory when an application is opened.
    Thanks

Free RAM is the one that has not been used by any application since you started up your Mac, and inactive RAM is the one that was used by an application and it is not in use anymore.
1 GB of inactive RAM is a lot, and it may be the cause of the slowness. There are a lot of apps that allows you to turn inactive into free RAM. I use FreeMemory, but have a look at the Mac App Store.
If you are a developer, you can do that with a command you can type into Terminal:
    sudo purge

  • What's the difference between "local reminder" and "push notification?

A friend has been bugging me about this, does anyone know what's the difference between "local reminder" and "push notification" in an iPhone app?

In a nutshell, local notifications are popup notifications from applications on your phone, based on data that's already on the local phone.  Push notifications are popup notifications you get when new info (like an email, tweet, or update from something like Facebook) gets pushed to your device from a server.

What's the difference between Java SDK and the Enterprise Edition? Are they both free?

both r free but they are used in diffrent applications. sdk are used for simple apps that run on your computer while j2e (enterprise edition) are ment for large distributed computer systems that include servers and such. if you don't know the diffrence you probably wont need the the j2e, only the sdk.
