Difference between oracle8 Enterprise and oracle8 server??

COuld some one point me to info regarding the
differences between Oracle8 Enterprise
edition and just Oracle8 server..
I have been trying to look on the docs, but

TIA.

They are essentially the same - the differences are in features, mainly being that EE supports Data Warehousing features such as BitMapped indexes, Table partitioning and materialised views to name a few. There is a doc on the Oracle web site that lists the features and whether they are supported on Server or EE. I don't where, I just did a search one day and found it.

  • Difference between Integration Engine and Integration server.

can any 1 explained in detail about difference between Integration Engine and Integration server.
    thanks in advance

Integration Server and Integration Engine are used synonymous with each other. But there is a sublte difference if you actually look into the XI architecture images provded by SAP.
    The Integration Server contains,
    1. Adapter Engine
    2. Business Process Engine
    3. Integration Engine.
So, taking this into picture I guess Integartion server is a collection of these 3 while integration engine is one of the runtime components of XI. All messages are processed in the Integration Engine.

  • Differences between Oracle9i Lite and Oracle8i Personal

    Hi,
I've read that Oracle8i Personal is a full-featured version of
Oracle8i. But I would like to know if the Oracle9i Lite version
is also a full-featured version of Oracle9i? Maybe someone can
help me to explain the difference between the Personal and Lite
version. Or maybe give me an URL where I can find all the
    information I need.
    Thanks in advance, Ann

Check out the readme document for Oracle9i Lite. It goes over your questions regarding new and desupported features.
Here is some information from the readme:
    Deprecated Features and Components
iConnect - an umbrella term for Oracle8i Lite's synchronization and messaging component
C-REPAPI - replaced by the more powerful Mobile Server/Consolidator. C-REPAPI and related components such as Java Replication Classes, Replication Cartridge, OCX Wrapper has been removed from the CD
Oracle Mobile Agent - used for wireless replication under the C-REPAPI replication technology. Obsolete because C-REPAPI is no longer part of Oracle9i Lite
Web-to-Go Server - integrated in Mobile Server
Consolidator Server - integrated in Mobile Server
Synchronization Server for Handheld Devices - integrated in Mobile Server
Scout MTS - no longer supported
Oracle8 Navigator - no longer available. Navigator functionality has been implemented in either Control Center or Packaging Wizard
    Oracle Lite Designer- removed
    Internet SQL - removed
Oracle Lite Deployment Wizard - obsolete because of Mobile Client
OLITERM - removed because no longer needed

From the ABAP perspective, few differences are.
The WS_* function modules used in 4.6c has become obsolete from 4.7C. All the WS_* FMs have been replaced by GUI_* FMs.
(ii) Concept of Unicode is introduced.
(iii) Few tables have been modified in ECC6.0.
Tables TVARV & TTREX have been replaced by TVARVC & TTREXN respectively.
(iv) we have enhancement points and enhancement sections along with enhancemnts and BADI'S . and we can write the part of code in those points.
For functional differences please check out the following link:

ECC->enterprise central component.ECC 6.0 is the advanced version.if we consider in technical point of view then i can give u one example.
In the new version we have enhancement points and enhancement sections along with enhancemnts and BADI'S.SAP has provided these ,so that without going for access keys we can write our code in the enhancement points along with Standard SAP code.So now SAP has provided more user friendly environment. Also a new DEBUGGER also arrived with the new version. Now we can see more things in the new er version of DEBUGGER.

  • Difference between Domain member and standalone server with AD binding

    Hi all,
Can anyone explain the difference between:
    A) Setting up a MacOSX server as Windows domain member server using Server Manager;
    B) Setting up a MacsOSX server as Windows standalone server and joining the Active Directory using Directory Access;
    My setup:
    ====================
We have a Windows 2003 A.D. running, all users are set up in the A.D.
Also we have two MacOSX servers, which provide file services (both AFP and SMB/CIFS) for Mac and Windows clients, while using the A.D. for user authentication.
One of the MacOSX servers is configured as a domain member server, the other is configured as Windows standalone server. The latter is bound to the A.D. using Directory Access.
Following the Apple manuals one should think that the first setup (domain member) is the best.
As for Open Directory: both servers are running as Standalone.
    How my setup behaves
    ====================
Official Apple guidelines are to set up the Mac server as domain member. Reality is another thing though.
For AFP both servers perform equal: users are authenticated against the A.D. and get access to their shares. File/Folder permissions are as expected.
For Windows clients things aren't the same.
The server setup as Windows Domain member acts strange. Windows clients don't have single signon experience.
Every file/folder's owner shared on this server is <<unknown>> to the client. Also, when a Windows user creates a file/folder the owner is <<unknown>>.
Sometimes the Samba server just stops authentication. A relaunch of the Samba service fixes this.
The server setup as a standalone server performs as expected. Windows clients have single signon experience, there are no issues with file/folder owner. Also authentication never stops.

  • Difference between MIB retrieval and SNMP server hosts

    Hi all,
can anybody explain difference between MIB retrieval systems and SNMP server hosts?

The two of these can both be different systems or the same system
A MIB retrieval system usually is an NMS system that actively polls the device to collect SNMP/MIB information (counters, stats, etc)
Whereas a host is typically where traps are sent to from the network devices.
Most NMS systems act as both a retrieval (poller) and host (trap receiver).

  • Difference between Hyperion Enterprise and HFM

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me the difference between the mentioned products? I know both of them are used for Financial Consolidation. Just looking to understand if our company should stick with HE or move to HFM.
    Thanks.

HFM is the next generation Consolidation product. It was built from the ground up with the latest technology to remedy some of the issues that faced Enterprise like scalability, centralised deployment via the web, and reporting improvements.
It is a completely different product to Enterprise in that it uses the dimensionality concepts of OLAP to enable a much lower level analysis. There are 12 dimensions to the product. 8 of these are fixed like Account, Entity, Year, etc while the remaining 4 are customisable based on the requirements. These custom dimensions essentially replace the Sub Accounts used in Enterprise and enable a far greater level of detail to be captured within a smaller Chart.
The decision the migrate to HFM would need to be made based on key pain points you are feeling with your current Enterprise application. What are some of the issues you are facing at the moment?

  • What are the differences between Oracle AS and Database Server?

    Hi
    I have quesstions:
1- what are the main differnces between Oracle Application Server 10g and Oracle Database Server 10g ?
2- does the oracle J developer 10g come with Oracle application server or comes standalone?
3- is there any integration between the three above application , and how it are working together?
    thanks
    Suhaib

    1) At its simplest level a Database Server is a database so for storing data and an application server is for running the applications (which will probably access the data in the database server).
    2) JDeveloper comes stand alone or as part of the Oracle Developer Suite which is a collection of tools for building applications.
    3) Yes they are integrated. More details on otn.oracle.com/products/ias

  • Differences between 8i enterprise and 8i standard edition

I have seen numerous discussions on whether 8i enterprise or 8i standard should be used in my division, can anyone point me to a source where I can get a comparision of the features between these two.
    null

I have installed Oracle 10 XE and it just seems so easy to work with. There's a GUI for everything. It does not have SQL Plus(that I've seen), but there's an area to type your commands into inside the program that helps administrator the Database. I could not find any documents on 9.2 so Im reading documents on Orcale 10 that I have downloaded from this site.
I am wanting to practice creating, removing, resizing tablespaces, creating databases, and other DBA things. I also want to have triggers functions and procedures working on it too. I wrote some in college against Oracle 8i.

  • Differences Between Grid Control and Application Server Console

    Hi,
I have come across a situation where a customer has an OC4J container and has deplyed several applications in this container. When they access Application Server Control Console thay can stop and start these applications individually.
However, the customer cannot monitor the status/state of these applications from withing Grid Control. We can see that the OC4J container is either up or down and will be alerted for the change of status. However, if a single application within the container is down they will not be alerted.
We are using GC 10.2.0.5, iAS 10.1.2.2. Is there a way around this, or dies the Application Server Console have a little extra functionalitly in it compared to Grid Control?
    Tim.

    Hi,
On your grid control, create a new Notification rule and select "Web Application" from the target drop down and then select your application then in availability tab, select up and down for which you want to receive notification.
