Difference Between Partner function & Business Role

1) What's the difference between Partner function & Business Role?
2) What is BP role grouping??

Hi Jayant,
Partner functions
Partner functions are terms that describe the people and organizations with whom you do business, and who are therefore involved in transactions. For example, when you create an activity, based on Customizing settings, it automatically includes the partner functions Activity Partner, Contact Person, and Person Responsible. Partner functions are always assigned to partner function categories, which are hard-coded in the system.
The system includes commonly used partner functions, but you can also define your own.
Business role
The business role is a role describing the user interface of SAP CRM and displays the CRM functions in the form of BSP applications in the CRM Web Client. The business role is assigned to the end-user.
Business Role is a crucial aspect in configuring the Web UI as required by an individual or a group of Users.
For Ex: In general an individual who works within Sales as an agent would be able to login as a Sales Professional and a manager of the same team would login with the business role Sales Manager.
This is beneficial as the sales manager would be able to view the entire performance of the team, sales reports and will have access to all opportunities which he can assign to individual agents etc. whereas a Sales agent will be able to view only opportunities assigned to him, his individual sales targets etc.
All this can be achieved within SAP CRM 7.0 Web UI by configuring the Business Role.

Leon

  • What is the difference between partner function and partner type

    Hi Gurus,
What is the difference between partner function and partner type?
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi John,
The partner types allow us to distinguish between different business partners such as customer, vendor, employee etc and the partner functions represent the functionality or role each partner plays within the business transaction.
For example under the partner type Customer, you will find - Sold to party, Ship to party, Bill to party, Payer.
The business partners that exist in the market place are represented with a partner type in the R/3 system. Examples of business partners are customer, vendor, employee and contact person.
The following partner types are defined in the partner processing for the sales & distribution module –
    a.     AP – contact person (06)
    b.     KU – customer (07)
    c.     LI – vendor (08)
    d.     PE – employee/personnel (09)
Assigning the partner functions in the SAP system determines the functions of particular partner in the sales process. One partner may take on several functions also.

  • Difference between BAPI Function Module and Remote Enable Function Module

    Dear Experts,
I want to know the main difference between BAPI Function Module and Remote Enable Function Module ?
One main difference that I know is BAPI FM are declared in Methods of Business Object  ie BAPI are methods of BOR where as Remote Enabled FM are not. What are other differences? Is it possible to convert a Remote Enable FM to BAPI FM .
    regards
    Manish

    Hello,
    Did u create any ZBAPI?
The Procdure for Creating the Customer BAPI is Create a Remote Enabled Function module and then goto the tcode BAPI.
Once u go in to that just take the Project tab and enter the details.
by this way u can create a Customer BAPI.

  • All differences between a function and a procedure.

What are All differences between a function and a procedure.

What are All differences between a function and a procedure. This is basic procedural programming fundamentals that you should learn at school.
A function is a procedure that returns a value (of the type defined in the function declaration) using the RETURN statement at the terminal point of the processing code.
    That's the only difference.
In terms of SQL, procedures cannot be used within SQL and functions can, but only if the function does not contain any OUT or IN OUT parameters and the return type is of a supported SQL type.

  • Difference in partner functions in normal and consignment sales

    hi,
What is the major difference in partner functions in normal sales and consignment sales Processing?
    regards
    prabudh

    Dear Prabudh
I dont think there is a difference in normal sales and consignment sales, as for as Partner Functions are concerned.  The impact will be on inventory where it will get reduced immediately once you make direct sales whereas it is NOT in consignment process.
    Thanks

  • Difference between Technical and Business transaction archiving?

    Hi Guys,
Can any one explain the difference between Technical and business transaction archiving with practical example?
When we will go for Technical archiving and when we will go for business transaction archiving?
    Thanks,
    Vinod.

    Hello Vinod,
To me, Archiving Objects can be separated into 3 categories; Technical, Master Data and Transactional.  Technical Archiving would include archive objects such as IDOC's, BC_SBAL (application logs), BDCLOGPROD (batch input logs), etc.  Master Data Archive Objects would include MM_MATNR (material master), FI_ACCPAYB (vendor master data), FI_ACCRECV (customer master data), etc.  And, Transactional Archive Objects would include FI_DOCUMNT (financial documents), SD_VBAK (sales orders), MM_EKKO (purchase orders), etc.
Techincal Archive Objects usually are easier to implement and require less resources.  Master Data and Transactional Archive Objects usually take longer to implement as they will require business testing and sign-off.
This is a high-level explanation and I hope it helps answer your questions.

  • Difference between partner order and partner oject?

    hi all,
Can any one please explain the difference between partner order and partner object?
What is the purpose of partner object from controlling perspective?
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    S.Sumana.

    Hi Kumar,
coming to customization in between SO(Rush order) and OR(Standard order).
    Go to VOV8 T.Code.
The Rush order has the details as "Under Shipping tab",
There will be "X" mark in the immediate delivery .
the Rush order will be having the order related billing.
But the Standard order can be either Order related or Delivery related.
In Standard order after creating the order we are going to create the order we are going to create the delivery by using "VL01n" T.Code.After that we are going to create the billing by using "VF01" T.Code.

I think you understood if you need any other info. pls ask.

  • Difference between check function module and start condition

    Hello Rob,
In  previous answer u said thr is no difference between check function module and startcondition but there is a difference between checkfunction module and start condition.
Before the workflow is triggering can u able to check the conditions in startcondition. The startcondition can check the condition only after the workflow has been triggered.
But in check function module u can check the condtion before the workflow got triggered.

    Kjetil,
Dont' fall for it, these two (unless deephak and catherina are the same person...)  are just spamming the forum.

As you've correctly established, even the SAP documentation contradicts their nonsense. A start condition is implemented as a check function, so there is no difference; and NO workflow is started at any time if they fail.

  • Difference between Conformed dimnesion and Role play dimesion

    hi,
I am not able to understand difference between Conformed dimension and Role play dimension.. Can anyone please explain the diff between both with real time example.
I am confused with Date Dimension.
Here i encountered, Cube dimension and Database dimension, what is that actually.
    Thanks

    Hi DevBi,
According to your description, you want to know the difference between database dimension and cube dimension. Right?
A database dimension is a collection of related objects, called attributes, which can be used to provide information about fact data in one or more cubes. What we created in BIDS is database dimension. For example, typical attributes in a product dimension
might be product name, product category, product line, product size, and product price. These objects are bound to one or more columns in one or more tables in a data source view.
Cube dimension is an instance of a database dimension in a cube is called a cube dimension and relates to one or more measure groups in the cube. A database dimension can be used multiple times in a cube. Those referenced and renamed for purpose database dimension
is role-playing dimension. For example, a fact table can have multiple time-related facts, and a separate cube dimension can be defined to assist in analyzing each time-related fact. However, only one time-related database dimension needs to exist, which
also means that only one time-related relational database table needs to exist to support multiple cube dimensions based on time.

  • Difference between  Generating Function,  Generic Function, Conversion func

Difference between  Generating Function,  Generic Function, Conversion function?

    Hi,
Generating functions are those functions which do not fetch any values from the source message, but generate target message based upon some conditions. All functions(regardless of whether Used Defined or standard) which do not take any values are called generating functions.functions of the Constant function category(e.g.constant,copyvalue,sender,receiver) are generating functions.
conversion is used to convert the data from one format to the other.
for ex: we use the FCC parameters to get the desired solutions .
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/4c38c4cf105f85e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
SAP conversion agent it a tool that helps to convert unstructured data
(like EDI messages, work files, pdf files etc) into XI (or from XI)
you just use an IDE to develop the program that you can later on
put inside the adapter module (for fiel adapter for example)
so no programming (as it's drag and drop)
    for many documents
    generic function?
All functions (regardless of whether they are standard or user-defined functions) that do not have input values are refered to as Generating Functions (Constant, Sender, Receiver and CopyValue() are generating functions).

  • What is the difference between the function declared in the package and pac

What is the difference between defining a function in the package and package body ?
    Edited by: user10641405 on Nov 19, 2009 1:29 PM

If you describe a package, you will only see the functions declared in the spec.
If you only declare them in the body then they are not available to other packages (they are private to the package, not public)
