Hi I have the old photo shop elements 10 on my computer and want to update and was wondering what the differences between photoshop, lightroom and photoshop elements are?
Also when I upgrade does it have to be with a monthly membership or can I just purchase the product out right like you use to be able?

You cannot "update" from what you have to any of the applications you mention. It will have to be a straight purchase or subscription at full price.
Photoshop is a professional level application that makes no apologies for its very long and steep learning curve.
Lightroom is all about volume, and very light editing.

I do not know where there is such a comparison table as you seek, but someone else might, or you can google.

  • Differences between Photoshop CS6 (legacy version) & Photoshop CS6

What is the difference between Photoshop CS6 (legacy version) and Photoshop CS6? Legacy box has a red Adobe logo in top right corner on the box face and Photoshop CS6 has a blue logo with Ps in it and is located in the bottom right corner on the box face?

I take it that you're still continuing your best bang for buck search mentioned in your earlier posts?

  • Difference between photoshop and illustrator effects?

Under the effects menu in cs5, what is the difference between photoshop and illustrator effects? when do you use the photoshop ones?
    Thank you.

The Photoshop effects are copies of similar effects from Photoshop. As such, they can only be applied to raster art, such as that edited in Photoshop. When you apply a Photoshop effect the Illustrator art you apply it to is rasterized in the background and the effect is applied to the rasterized version of the art. If you expand the appearance of anything with a Photoshop effect on it it will be rasterized. The other effects retain all or part of the vector art. When you expand the effect or save a PDF at least some of the original vector art will remain as vectors, although some effects (Drop Shadow, Blur, Feather, Inner Glow, etc.) to add rasterized art to the file.
The rasterization is non-damaging, in that the original vector, type, or other objets remain fully editable. If you remove the effect the rasterization goes away. There is no dialogue for rasterization resolution in the effect; you set that in Effect > Document Raster Effect Settings.

  • What is the difference between Photoshop Touch & Photoshop Express apps???

What is the difference between Photoshop Touch & Photoshop Express apps???

Thank you for your answer which is simple but accurate.  Photoshop Touch is a
multi-functional editor and builder of graphics, and is capable of exporting its
output to Photoshop CS5 for further refinements.  Like having Photoshop CS5 on
your iPad.... quite wonderful.  While Photoshop Express is a simple digital
photo editor that works for everyday camera work.  A very nice program.
BTW... Adobe Customer Service had me on the phone for over an hour, on hold and
off, and could not answer the question until they turned the phone call over to
a Supervisor in Tech Level 2.  Very sad....

  • Targa alpha differences between Photoshop 7 and CS3

We're using Targa images for games work and need precise control over alpha levels.
In Photoshop 7, it seems that grey levels in the alpha channel are transferred directly to that Targa. For example, a grey level of 50% in the alpha channel produces an alpha value of 128 in the Targa file, as you would expect.
In Photoshop CS3, I'm getting 105 for 50% grey. And in order to get 128 I have to set my Photoshop colour to #959595.
This is a serious incompatibility for us. We can no longer generate correct alpha using Photoshop gradients. Also, some of us are using 7 and some CS3, and we need automation to work! There seems to be some sort of curve being applied to the alpha.
Firstly, does anyone else see this? I'm beginning to doubt my sanity.
Is there a way to fix it? When I say 128 I want 128!
(I've searched the forums and knowledgebase for "targa alpha" and Google for "photoshop targa alpha" and turned up nothing relevant.)

progress, I know that the values are often the same when you look at them in Photoshop, but they are not stored in the TGA as those values. Also, because the range 0-255 for alpha is mapped through a colour management curve, the values are NOT always preserved by save/open, but rounded.
Proof: using colour settings "North America General purpose 2" make a small (e.g. 32x32) image with white background. Make an alpha channel. Set your foreground colour to 62, 62, 62. Fill the alpha channel. Save as TGA, open, check the alpha channel. It's now 61, 61, 61.
If you save a TGA with alpha channel 61 grey, then try to change it to 62, then save it, you get an identical file.
But really the point is this: alpha is not colour. It is transparency. It should not be subject to colour management. You say "the visual is maintained" but alpha is transparency, not colour, and the visual is _not_ maintained if it is transformed through colour management. This is because we are trying to manipulate images where "128 alpha" means exactly 50% transparency, as you would expect. But with Photoshop this is not what you get _in_the_file_.
Ramón, if Chris means that Photoshop writes "128" in the file for "grey 128" in the alpha channel then he's wrong, as shown by my hex dumps earlier in this thread. This is why I wonder what he means.

  • Differences between 1st Gen + upgrade and 2nd Gen?

Hi all. I was looking into purchasing a new iPod touch, but before I do so, I was wondering if there is any difference between getting an iPod touch 1st generation and purchasing the software upgrade and simply purchasing a 2nd generation? Reason being that I can get a 1st gen much cheaper than the $10 that it would cost to get the software upgrades, so if I can do that it would be great.
So is it a seamless upgrade or will there be some small differences between the two? Thanks in advance for the replies!

Updating a 1st gen Touch to 2.1 is the way to go if you don't care too much about the primary differences, where the 2nd gen Touch has the speaker, external volume control, and slimmer at the edges. I've had both and am glad that I have updated to the 2nd gen Touch.
Note that the 2nd gen Touch does not have the same charging circuit as previous iPod models, so if you have 3rd party chargers that rely on the 12V (firewire) pin on the iPod's dock connector, those won't work. For the 2nd gen Touch you need to have "Made for iPod" designated charging accessories which use the 5V (USB) pin of the connector. Chargers don't specify which pin of the connector they use, so if you go with a 2nd gen Touch be sure that any accessories you buy for it are designated specificatly for the 2nd gen.

  • Photoshop CS3 Upgrade

I currently have Photoshop CS2 and am considering upgrading to CS3. If I get the CS3 upgrade, will it support the Nikon D300 RAW without having to download the Camera Raw 4.3.1?
A second question, can Bridge be used with Elements 6?

    Why on earth would you
    b not
want to download the latest version?
Even if an earlier ACR 4.x did support your camera there are improvements in each dot release other than just covering the latest cameras.
You can see supported cameras here:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
Bridge can be used with most image files but it doesn't come without Photoshop!

  • Difference between implementation, support & upgradation projects

    Hello Friends,
I am new to SAP. Can anyone tell me what are implementation, support & upgradation projects..what are the differences between those projects? what is role of ABAP developer in these projects?
    Regards,

    Hi,
SAP Implementation: SAP Implementation is the whole of processes that defines a complete method to
implement SAP software in an organization. It is based on best practices and case studies from various
literature sources and presents a collection of processes and products that make up a complete
implementation method to allow any organization to plan and execute the implementation of SAP (ERP)
software. The SAP implementation process is made up out of four main phases, i.e. the project preparation
where a vision of the future-state of the SAP solution is being created, a sizing and blueprinting phase
where the solution stack is created and training is being performed, a functional development phase and
finally a final preparation phase, when the last tests are being performed before the actual go live.
ABAP Developer Role is to prepare the Technical Specification (based on a Functional Specification given
by a Functional Consultant), build the code, Review the code and finally to prepare the Unit Test Cases.
Sometimes ABAPer may be asked to do a technical research for an optimal solution.
SAP Support: After a go live, the application needs a maintenance/support to resolve the issues/tickets raised by the users when using the application.Ticket is like a request for changes/bug fixing or a request for a new
ABAP Developer Role includes bug fixing/change the existing code due to new requirements/build a new code etc.
SAP Upgrade: SAP Upgrade is nothing but upgrading the software with a superior version which has got more advantages when compared to the earlier version.
ABAP Developer Role is to go through transactions SPAU/SPDD to compare the old and new version of the change and finally need to activate the relevant one. Some times might need to work on SAP notes too.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Srinivas

  • Difference between patch and upgrade

    hi,
i need to know the exact difference between the patch that is available online and the upgradation of oracle. there is a patch 14 available for oracle 11.5.9 available. what does it do. is it similar to upgrading the oracle installation to a higher version.
please reply as soon as possible.
    thank you in advance.

Would you please elaborate more. What do you mean by the patch this is available only? What is patch 14?
If you are running on 11.5.9 and want to upgrade to 11.5.10.2, then you need to apply 11.5.10.2 maintenance pack. Maintenance pack is a consolidation of all the mini packs for all products and all the family packs for the entire oracle applications.
Have a look at the following link for Oracle Applications Patch Types:

  • The difference between photoshop eps and illustrator eps

Before installing snow leopard, Quark Xpress could distinguish between photoshop eps and illustrator eps files when a file needed to be modified. Now all it does is open files in only one item of software (depending on which you have told it to open files in). It's very inconvenient
    Anyone got any ideas?

It sounds like you may have assigned EPS files to open in a particular app. That causes anything ending in .eps to open in that app, and the OS ignores the rest of the UTI (Uniform Type Identifiers) data.
About the only way to fix it is to clear the LaunchServices database. Close all running applications. Open the Terminal and copy/paste the following line and press Enter:
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
Close the Terminal and immediately restart. The OS will build a new database based on the installed applications. EPS files created by a particular application should now open in that app.

  • I'm trying to understand the difference between Photoshop Elements and Lightroom software.

Does one have things the other does not?

    Hi,
Lightroom is to manage photos and produce derivative images without ever modifying an original file. Its processing functionality has a narrow feature-set covering the most common needs of professional photographers whereas Elements is a simpler yet powerful photo manipulation tool. Elements is designed to satisfy the needs of photo enthusiasts who like to manipulate images.
You can also go through the thread to understand the basic difference between PSE and Lightroom.
    Check if this helps.

  • CS5 - Color difference between Photoshop and other programs

I'm running CS5.5 student edition on a brand new Asus Q500A laptop running Windows 8. i7 processor and a UMA graphics card.
I do not have calibration software; I'm using Calibrize for the moment and colors appear fairly true when browsing after calibration.
My problem is that overall colors in Photoshop appear more saturated than those in regular browser windows, particularly reds. I set up my computer to run the Win8 photos app and my desktop with Photoshop simultaneously and the color difference was immediately noticeable. I did a quick screen grab to show the difference; the inset photo is the one viewed in Win8's photos app, and the background is the exact same photo open in Photoshop.
This is the second install of this program. I originally installed it on a Dell Inspiron with a DuoCore processor (way out of spec, I know - that's why I upgraded!) and I seem to remember having this issue then, too. I found a way to correct it, but I don't remember how I fixed it and Photoshop is no longer on that machine so I can't look over my settings.
I have not changed the color profile in Photoshop. When installed it chose North America General Purpose 2 as default and I've left it there. I experimented with the other color profiles and while the color tone in Photoshop changes, there is still a difference when the image is viewed in another program.
Any help is much appreciated - I can't trust the program to handle color properly right now and until I can, I'm dead in the water.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree. When I view the image on another computer or my iPhone, the image views properly. It's my photography, from a tree in my back yard. I know how the image is supposed to look, and right now it doesn't look right in Photoshop.
On my previous machine, I am almost positive that it was saving as sRGB by default as well. I don't remember what color profile I was working in, but I know that I did not have a color profile/space error pop up on opening new images, nor do I have that problem on other images saved on that machine that I'm opening on the laptop.
