Difference between read and view only -users having both permissions can download the documents

Hi All,
Would like to know whats the difference between view only and read permission.
As per my requirement, my end users who have been assigned View Only should NOT be able to Download the document from a doc lib.Whereas who have Read permissions should be able to download.
But when i tested with few users with these  permissions, those users who are having  viewonly permissions was able to  download the documents.
how this will be true? MS says that this is not possible if it contains server side handlers.
my customer worried about the  download-the-document part. as per them end users who have  view only permissions should not download the docs.

Hi,
Please check this similar thread:

Your only option is to implement IRM to accomplish your requirement.

  • What is the difference between 'workbookk' and ' view'?

    Hi all,
What is the difference between 'workbook' and 'view'. I check some document but I don't see there is big difference.
    Thanks.
    J.

    hi John,
We use workbooks for excel formating, like font changes, lay out changes etc...
Workbooks into which queries are inserted are no different in appearance than other Excel workbooks.
They can be saved as files, copied, sent and (using Excel functions) edited however you like and even supplemented with other data.
Views are primarily used for BW Web Reports, it is similar to the concept of workbooks is for BEx.A local view can be accessed only within a workbook in which it was saved, where as a global view can be accessed globally in the system, it is not attached to a workbook. Only Global view can be used in BW Web Templates.
u can seee the help doc for more details:

  • Why is my SSD showing 250mb/s difference between read and write...

So i have recently upgraded to a SSD in my 2011 MBP. 2.4Ghz i5 16Gb RAM. I swapped my HDD with a Samsung 840 Series 250Gb SSD, I noticed a huge speed bump. See attached photos. Read is clocked at 503MB/s peak, and Write is clocked at 260MB/s peak on the SSD. My Question is why is there a 250MB/s difference between read and write?? Using Black Magic Disk Speed test. Mac OS X 10.8.4 Beta.
    Thanks

Writes are performed very differently on SSD than they do on a hard drive, and it is common for SSDs to have lower write speeds than reads.
    It's actually quite interesting if you're a geek: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Write_amplification
As long as the speeds do match your manufacturer specification for the model (and they do: http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/memory-storage/MZ-7TD250BW ) , there is nothing to be concerned about.

    Hi,
As you mentioned there are 2 status can be maintained for documents like Equipment Master, Notification, Maintenance Order & other important business documents.
In case, client feels that system status is not enough to capture the details of the object, then user status can be used.
System statuses will be updated automatically based on business transactions which will be done on SAP.
For example, once the equipment is created, System status would CRTD (Created). If you install the same to some superior equipment or FL, then status would be INST (Installed).
If you keeping that equipment in Spare, then for that, you have to maintain separate User Status like AVLB (Available in Stock / Spare) so that through IH08, by using User status, you can the report which is available as spare.
These user status as per the name, should be updated by the user manually.

  • Site Members having contribute permissions can see the "Approve It" yellow bar under the ribbon but it is not clickable

    Hello All,
I am facing a weird behavior from SharePoint. I added a couple of users in the Members Group having Contribute permissions.
Whenever the user open any pending page, a yellow bar appears stating "Waiting for approval
Visitors can't see this page until it's approved.
Approve it." But it is not clickable.
The users don't have the permissions to approve the pages.

In order to approve list items in SharePoint using content approval Full control permission is required on that list. You can create a custom Permission level to accomplish it with contribute access + approval if you require that functionality.
You may also go into the list settings > Versioning settings and change the Draft Item security to only allow approvers and the creator of the content to see the item unless it's approved because It seems like it's set currently to those that can edit
    items, but they can't approve.

  • I am so new to Mac. I just bought this Macbook Pro. No Disks or anything. I need to completely wipe and reinstall. Is there anyplace I can download the disks to burn to dvd to do a complete wipe and reinstall?  I'm running 10.6.8. Or maybe a later version

I guess you can see how new i am to this, I typed my whole question in the subject. Any way, i bought this macbook pro used, no disks, need to do a complete wipe and reinstall. is there anywhere i can download the install disks to burn to dvd? Or buy either one, or maybe even a later version? Im running 10.6.8 currently.  Thanks in Advance! Terry

First determine what system you really have.
Apple menu -> About This Mac.
If it is 10.7, you don't need installer discs, because there is a recovery partition:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4848
If indeed it is 10.6.something then you'll want to call AppleCare for the discs.
    http://www.apple.com/contact/phone_contacts.html
If they determine the machine is older than 10.6's initial release (August 28, 2009), you'll want to purchase 10.6 retail, and/or 10.7 retail from the Apple Store.
    Regardless, backup your data first*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
And read the benefits of both 10.6 and 10.7:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2455
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2465
and determine which can run on your machine, and decide which you want to have.

  • What is the difference between sGWI and cGWI to user ?

What difference does Server Groupware integration (sGWI) and Client Groupware integration  (cGWI)  have on the end user? Is there any documentation that explains the difference and how to make the choice to deploy one or the other  ?
What actualy does an end user get with sGWI ?
    Many thanks
    M

    Hello,
There is a major difference between the sGWI and the cGWI, obviously the server intergration part but your question is not concerning that.
From an end user perspective the difference is also very obvious.
In the cGWI the end user needs to trigger the synchronization manually, the end user can control what is synchronized and what not (a popup with the changes is presented on each synchro where the user still can decide whether to synchro or not).
Additional software must also be installed on each individual PC.
In the sGWI the end user has no control on the synchro process, also, the synchro process is completely invisible to the end user. The end user has no influence over what and how it is synchronized.
Documentation (I'm talking about 2007/7.0/7.0 Enhp1) is available here:
    https://websmp209.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700000816082011E/Client_GWI.pdf
    https://websmp209.sap-ag.de/~sapdownload/011000358700000429612011E/ClientGWIInstallationGuide.pdf
Don't have any direct links for the sGWI...
    Hope this helps,
    Kind regards,

  • Why are there print differences between Reader and Acrobat Pro

I have a PDF file generated by InDesign (CS3). When I print the PDF from Reader (8.1.4) I get lighter text than when the same file is printed by Acrobat Pro (9.1.0). A close examination of the printed letters shows that the text printed from Reader is not solid black, while the text from Pro is solid black.
Is this typical or is there something I need to do to improve the printing from Reader?

I am a CADD Coord. (CADD Mgr)designer) I used to do a lot of design. Just recently we have noticed that anything printed from Adobe, the reader or the full version, is printing so lightly in many cases that it looks like it is missing data. whenever we create teh PDF from Autodesk products or Bluebeam Revue, it is the same. Bluebeam prints perfect. Yet the exact same file printed through Adobe is very, very light. Even printing as image it does this. And it appears at random. Some people print ok, but the exact same printer sent by someone else, using the same method, comes out too light in Adobe.
I have contacted Autodesk and they have punted it back. Anyone have any answers or clues to fix? i send out deliverables for clients all the time and I hate to find out they print and miss something of the design.

  • Why there is a difference between table and view?

    CREATE TABLE SK_ABC (ABC VARCHAR2(10),BBC NUMBER, CCD VARCHAR2(100), DDC DATE);
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW SK_ABC_V
AS SELECT ABC,BBC,SubStr(CCD,1,40) CCD FROM SK_ABC;after this am seeing CCD length in view as 160 in database. am expecting length as 40 or atleast it should give me 100 as table ccd data length is 100, but it is showing me as 160 is bit surprised...
can any one please explain me?
    SELECT table_Name,column_name,data_length,column_id,char_used FROM ALL_TAB_COLS WHERE TABLE_NAME LIKE 'SK%' ORDER BY TABLE_nAME,COLUMN_ID;
    TABLE_NAME COLUMN_NAME DATA_LENGTH COLUMN_ID CHAR_USED
    SK_ABC         ABC                   10                   1                  B
    SK_ABC         BBC                   22                   2
    SK_ABC         CCD                  100                  3                  B
    SK_ABC         DDC                     7                  4
    SK_ABC_V     ABC                    10                  1                   B
    SK_ABC_V     BBC                     22                  2
    SK_ABC_V     CCD                    160                 3                   B

    Hi,
    This,
SubStr(CCD,1,40)You are taking 40 characters from CCD. You are probably using a multi byte character set, so the column will be 160 bytes. Your output shows char_used = B, that means length of column is taken in bytes.
    Edit: Key word is NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e10766/tdddg_globalization.htm#TDDDG62910
I think the right thing would be to use char semantics when using multi byte character sets

  • Difference between Filter and Variables

    Hi Experts,
What is the difference between Filter and Variables except user can give input dianamically in the case of Variables??
    Thanks in Advance!
    Sapna

    HI,
Both works similarly ....but if the requirement is fixed means u know what data should be displayed in the query then u can use the filters....if u want to give that option to the Users then we create a variable and user can enter the required data which he wants to view.....once u define filters then only that particular restricted data will be displayed in the query out put....but incase of variables we are having the flexibility to view the data....
    Thanks/Tarak

  • What is the Difference between Consolidation and Aggregation

    Hi Masters
What is the difference between Consolidation and Aggregation? i think both are same, what is the exact difference in-terms of HFM and Essbase?
    regards
    Taruni

The differences lies in the mechanism used to calculate and store the value. Dynamic members such as parent accounts or customs, derived views, parent periods, or <Total> members in the value dimension are performed on the fly in the HFM app server's memory without any discrete action on the user or adminisrator's part. These are aggregations in this context, and are distinct from amounts that are calculated and then stored in the HFM database which are either the result of direct data entry (from data loads or journals) or calculated amounts resulting from HFM's rules. "Consolidation" in your question would be one of the stored, calculated amounts in HFM.

Both are used for data hiding then what is the exact difference ?This is the picture I have:
When you encapsulate something you get an inside and an outside. The outside is the abstraction. It describes how the encapsulated entity behaves viewed from the outside. This is also called the type. Hidden inside is the implementation. It holds detail information about how the type's behaviour is accomplished.
It's a very simplified picture but I think it's quite accurate and it works for me.
