Difference between SAF service-family & address-family

Hello, I cant seem to find a simple definition of the difference between SAF service-family & address-family.
Could someone please explain these two terms.
Thanks kindly.

In addition to the above ...
Rollup Patch (RUP): An aggregation of patches that may be at the functional level, or at a specific product/family release level. For example, a Flexfields rollup patch contains all the latest patches related to Flexfields at the time the patch was created. A Marketing Family 11.5.10 rollup patch contains all the latest Marketing patches released since, and applicable to 11.5.10
Family Pack: An aggregation of patches at the product family level. Family product codes always end in "_PF" and family packs are given alphabetical sequence such as 11i.HR_PF.B, 11i.HR_PF.C, and 11i.HR_PF.D. Family packs are cumulative. In other words, Discrete Manufacturing Family Pack G (11i.DMF_PF.G) contains everything in 11i.DMF_PF.F, which contains everything in 11i.DMF_PF.E, and so on.
If you search the rollup patch thru Metalink, it would tell you whether it is included in any other patchset (i.e. Family Pack) or not.

  • Difference between Reporting Services Sharepoint Mode and Reporting Services Add In for Sharepoint 2013

Hi, We are building company site with Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise Edition and were wondering what is the difference between Reporting Services Sharepoint Mode and Reporting Services Add In for Sharepoint 2013? What are the roles/purposes of each one? What
happens if only Reporting Services Sharepoint Mode  installed or vise versa.
    Thank you in advance

Reporting Services in SharePoint mode is a service for displaying, managing, and creating SSRS reports within SharePoint. The addin is a pre-req for SharePoint that is used to display reports and is required for Reporting Services in Native or SharePoint
mode, but does not by itself do anything.

  • Difference between Business service, Business system and Business process

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me the difference between Business service, Business system and Business process?
    Thanks,
    Harikumar. S

    Hi,
    <b>Business system</b>
It is a logical system from a business point of view.
One or more logical systems that belong together from a business point of view is called a group of Business system group. A business system group represents a unit within a company or organization that can be defined according to legal, economic, administrative or geographic factors.
The objects in a business system group are uniquely identified by a uniform numbering system.
    <b>Business process</b>
Business procedure within an enterprise that uses resources and can involve activites from a number of different cost centers in a controlling area.
When executing a business process, activities can be utilized for several cost centers of a controlling area.
    <b>Business service</b>
    It’s a third party system.
All these belong to a Business Scenario which is
Description of the flow of business processes according to a business typology. A business scenario represents a template for a business process, which runs within a particular area of a company process. All processes required to completely process the task are listed in chronological order in the scenario. Business scenarios can be described graphically, in either aggregated or detailed form (EPC). Example: Direct sale to industrial recipient

  • Difference between business service and business system in SLD

    hi all,
i m very new to XI. can anybody tell me that what is the basic difference between Business Service and Business Systems?
Is it necessary to use them? and if yes then when to use what?
    Thanx.
    Regards,
    Kunjal......

    Hi Kunjal,
In SAP XI every system in your landscape with which you are interfacing is defined as Service.
The service can be your Business service or Business system.
Generally SAP systems are referred to Business system and you define them in the SLD before you import them.
The Business service is a logical name referring to any system in your landscape.
To communicate with any third party application you need to create communication channels which are associated to your service.

  • Difference between a Service user and Dailog user ?

    Hi All,
Can anybody tell me the difference between a service user and a dailog user?
Why can't we use a service user for BSP applications?
We are on a 620 system and use bsp system login.
With a dialog user it works, but when I switch this user to a service user the login returns an empty login screen.
    Thanks in advance.
    Rob

A service user can only be used for background processing and communication within a system (such as RFC users for ALE, Workflow, TMS, and CUA). Dialog screens are not allowed for these users.
Dialog users however have individual, interactive system access.

  • Difference between Web Service Developer and Web Compononent Developer?

What's the difference between Web services Developer and Web Component Developer? What's their job description. I'm aiming to be a web application developer. Which track should I follow?

Here is another article on J2SE vs JEE:
    http://www.velocityrevies.com/forums/t151124-what-is-j2se-vs-j2ee.html
I believe the people who said JSE is only for desktop development are not correct, as well as their saying their are 2 kinds of developer (web service and component).
As I understand it, web service developers provide a way to expose the data and functionality of a program written in a particular language (such as Java or C#) as XML documents to anyone subscribing to the service over the internet. The remote applications subscribing to the service therefore can be written in any other language. For example, imagine a Cobol program trying to get data from a program written in Java. Since both cobol and Java should have ways to parse XML documents, they don't have to know each other's syntax. There are many programs written in many many languages in the web and XML is a standard way for them to communicate. Web Services are an advanced topic and you shouldn't worry about it until you master web applications and/or desktop applications.
As I understand it, a web component developer creates java widgets that produce some visual image with basic functionality associated with it. For example, an html button. These widgets are used by other developers for the presentation layer when creating a web application or desktop application. I'm not sure about this definition since I never messed with web component development. I suggest you keep way from this specialized area on concentrate on web applications and/or desktop applications.
You can consider application development as devided into two general categories. Web development and Desktop development (there are others). Web development is further broken down into browser based applications and mobile device applications. I suspect their are more jobs in web development than desktop development. I therefore suggest you concentrate on browder based web development (just my opinion). However, each has their advantages and disadvantages over each other, depending on the task at hand(http://stackoverflow.com/questions/905365/desktop-development-versus-web-development)

  • Difference between Web Service URL and Report Manager URL

What is the difference between Web Service URL and Report Manager URL in Reporting Service configuration manager in SQl Server 2008 Reporting Setrvices

Another way to put it is the Web Service URL is just that, its used for services that are connecting to issue API calls.  The Report Manager URL is the nice GUI that users should use.  If you click the links, you should see the difference.  I
am sure you have likely done that, but functionally one is for programmatic purposes and the other to be the front end graphical user interface.

  • Difference between Safe and Deep Sleep?

    Hello everyone!
I recently added the Deep Sleep widget for times when I want to force my laptop to hibernate with some battery left and not completely shut it down, but recently it's just been going into hibernation mode when I leave my laptop alone for a few minutes. I clicked on the "info" button in the corner of the widget and discovered the reason: the "Regular Sleep Mode" was set to "deep".
I know quick sleep is the normal "pulsing/breathing" sleep function, but what's the difference between "Safe Sleep" and "Deep Sleep"?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1757
Deep Sleep is the equivalent of Windows hibernation.  The state of the machine is written to the hard disk and the power is turned off.
Safe Sleep is the first part of Deep Sleep.  Before the MBP goes into regular sleep the state of the machine is written to the hard disk.  That's why it takes a while for the indicator to begin pulsing.  If the battery dies while in regular sleep nothing is lost because of the write to the hard disk.  Regular sleep becomes Deep sleep if the battery dies.

  • Difference Between Data Services Designer and Data Services Workbench

I am new to Data Services .
What is the difference between Data Services Designer and Data Services Workbench .
Am bit confused in the above two .
Please help me to understand the same.
    Thanks in advance.

Workbench is used to create, display and modify the objects. It will display the source table data and we can see the logs of the job which we have executed and also we can see the status of a job. In bods 4.2 you can design the dataflow in workbench in previous release we don’t have that option but designer contains debugging option, you can write scripts,  it will support all databases; these option are not available in workbench. for more information refer this document:

  • I want to reserve a static IP address on my Airport extreme.  What is the difference between reserving by MAC Address and DHCP Client ID?

I want to understand the differences in the way you can reserve a static address for a device on the network.  I had previously set the device itself to an address and then reserved it with DHCP Client ID, which I thought was just the devices static addresss.  I'm not sure if this was in fact correct or just happend to work.  I know what a MAC address is, but I'm not really sure what the DHCP Client ID is. So it would be great if someone could clarify it, and the difference between reserving address by MAC Address or DHCP Client ID.

A MAC address is a unique identification consisting of letters and numbers in a form that looks like this:
    xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Every network device has a MAC address, which can be found on a label on the bottom or back of the device. Apple calls this the Ethernet ID.
A DHCP Client ID is an optional name that you can assign to a device. For example, on your Mac....
Open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)
    Open Network
    Click on Ethernet
Click Advanced at the lower right
You may be able to edit the DHCP Client  ID here....for example.....you could enter MJ500's MacBook in the space provided. That would be the Client ID of your Mac.

  • Difference Between Business service & Business System

    Hi Guys,
I am new to SAP XI Any one pls Explain me with some basics like.
What is the difference Between Business system & Business Service.
    Party & Service without party.
    Thanks In Advanece
    Regards
    Kiran.B

    <b>Difference in Party & Service without party</b>
A party "with a service" can be equivalent as a company reference. You use a "services without party" when there is no company linked to the service.
    >>Party
Is used to represent a business Partner ( who dosen't belong to the Current company's landscape). It is generally defined in a B2B scenario's. So All the systems/services accociated with the Party are referred only as Services.
Generally Service with Party is used for Cross Company processes or B2B integration
Service without party is mainly used for A2A communication.
You can find multiple answers in this thread:
