  • Difference between Data warehouse BO and SAP BO

    Dear All,
can anyone let me know the difference b/n data warehosue Business Objects and SAP Business Objects.....and aslo can u suggest which is the better future among these two tools....
explaining in detailed view is highly appreciable!
    Thanks & Regards,
    V.Ravi Teja

    Hello,
in the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio there is no solution for a DWH. A DWH is a DataStore based on a Database technology like Oracle. SAP BusinessObjects doesnt have its own Database. SAP BusinessObjects Tools support loads of Databases like Oracle, DB2, MS SQL etc.
What the SAP BusinessObjects portfolio has is an ETL tool to create a DWH - called "DataServices". Also there is a tool for creating a virtual DWH - called "Data Federator"
SAP has its own Datastore for a DWH - called "SAP Business Warehouse" (SAP BW)
    Hope this helps.
    Regards
    -Seb.

  • Why the difference between the Extension list and the Plug-in list

On my Extension list I can see -
    Java Console 6.0.22 Enable
    Java Console 6.0.23 Enable
    Java Console 6.0.24 Enable
    Java Console 6.0.25 Disable
The old versions have been disabled.
On the Plug-in list I can see -
    Java Deplyment Toolkit 6.0.250.6
    Java Platform SE 6 U25
If I check via the Control Panel I appear to have only
    Java 6 Update 25 installed.
    Why the discrepancy?
Why do I still see references to older versions, and presumably not on the computer any more, shown on the Extensions list?

That link was most helpful. Opening FireFox as an Admin, something I had never thought of, allowed me to remove the dead wood from the 'Extensions' display.
Previously, the only way I could be certain exactly what was actually available was by visiting Control Panel ... Programs and Features
Thanks to both of you for your interest.

  • Difference between a add-on , plug-in and a support package

hi could some one please clearly distinguish between an add-on and a plug-in

I am explaining in simple words,
Plugin: Say you are using Windows Media Player, now you want to use a software called say "DJ Mix" which will give you the DJing effect in ur songs. Then what do you do? You install a plugin which facilitates use of DJ Mix in ur Windows Media Player. Same here in SAP.Ex: To integrate between SAP BW 3.5 and SAP EP 6.0 , you need to import the SAP Enterprise Portal Plug-In (PI_BASIS).
    Add on:
Add ons in simple words are extra functionalities offered in your current SAP setup.
In case you are having a Newspaper company and you want to implement SAP in ur organization, you need to use the Add on: IS_Media apart from the available SAP set up so that you get the extra functionalities / business flows related to Media industry
    Support Packs:
'Hot packs' is the old name, new name is "support Packs'(from '99). Both are same.In simple words, SP is the collection of sap notes(bug fixes) in one place.
Applying SPs are also called patching.
In simple words, Say the latest Basis SP available in market is SAPKB7001. Now say customers report 10 bugs in 5 months after applying this SP in their system. So SAP corrects this bugs individually in the form of SAP Notes and after sometime say 5 months it comes up with a new SP SAPKB7002(which will contain all the 10 bug fixes)
    Cheers!

  • Difference between SAP 4.7EE and SAP ECC 6.0 in terms of ABAP

    Hi all,
I would like to know the differences between the SAP-4.7EE and SAP ECC 6.0 in terms of ABAP?
can any body Please Help me?

    Hi Vijay,
In terms of ABAP some function modules are obsolete in 4.7.
    e.g WS_UPLOAD, WS_DOWNLOAD etc.
You can find the list of obsolete FMs in the table RODIR.
These need to be replaced in the ECC System.
Also ECC is very strict in case of EPC Errors. You need to check the EPC and remove the call function interface errors where it says SLIN observes catching of a runtime error. These might work with no issues in 4.7 but will shortdump in ECC.
If you are doing to a unicode conversion also. you need to check the transaction UCCHECK for unicode errors.
You also need to replace obsolete statements like >< and => , =< etc.
Please let me know if you need any further info on this.
    Thanks,
    Sai

  • Difference between SAP 4.6C and SAP ECC6.0

    hi ,
Can any one give me the difference between SAP 4.6C and SAP ECC6.0 .
    in respect to following points..
    Assertions and Breakpoints
    New Debugger
    New Editor
    Run Time Type Services (RTTS)
    Unicode

    HI Neha ,
ECC->enterprise central component.ECC 6.0 is the advanced version.if we consider in technical point of view then i can give u one example.
In the new version we have enhancement points and enhancement sections along with enhancemnts and BADI'S.SAP has provided these ,so that without going for access keys we can write our code in the enhancement points along with Standard SAP code.So now SAP has provided more user friendly environment. Also a new DEBUGGER also arrived with the new version. Now we can see more things in the new er version of DEBUGGER.
    Thanks ,

  • Difference between SAP BC ABAP and SAP ABAP Training

What is the basic difference between SAP BC ABAP and SAP ABAP Training ?
Can any one answer these? I am little confused about the learning material I searched on internet and the course provided. It has similar topics but different name. I have course like SAP ABAP ECC 6.0 (TAW10 and TAW12) but on search I also found SAP BC ABAP beside this.

    Hello
SAP BC means SAP Business Connector
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/6f/1bd5c2a85b11d6b28500508b5d5211/content.htm
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SAP_Business_Connector
So you can know SAP BC ABAP is ABAP for SAP BC
SAP ABAP/4 is a program lanuague
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABAP
    For ABAP certification
TAW10 and 12 are the right materials.

  • Difference between sap 4.7 and sap ess

    hi,
please let me know the difference between sap 4.7 and sap ess and its benefits

    Hi,
I guess you mean ECC not ESS.
4.7 is a prior release and ECC 6.0 is a newer one.
There a lot of superiorities of ECC over 4.7.
You can check out the differences between 4.7 and ECC via the following link:
