Difference between SOLMAN and ASAP Project Selector

How different is SOLMAN from ASAP Project Selector as far as roadmaps for standard SAP Implementation methodologies are concerned? Does SOLMAN consist of questionnaires like is the case with ASAP Project Selector?

Hi Namrata
1. How different is SOLMAN from ASAP Project Selector as far as roadmaps for standard SAP Implementation methodologies are concerned?
A. The SOLMAN is a different tool altogether.  it is an enhancement to the ASAP Methodology for the latest versions of SAP.  In SOLMAN we will select the required business and its processes supplied by the SAP.  Whereas we need to change the necessary modifications to the required objects and do the enhancements to the default configurations.  In SOLMAN we need to define the landscape very initially.  If a project is implementing with SOLMAN, then each and every request should be routed through SOLMAN and stored in SOLMAN and also each and every requirement as well as all BPP should be kept in SOLMAN.  And configuration will also be done from SOLMAN itself, whereas earlier in ASAP methodology this doesn't exist.
2. Does SOLMAN consist of questionnaires like is the case with ASAP Project Selector?
A. SOLMAN will not consist any questionnaires like in ASAP project selector.  It is an extension to the ASAP methodology.  for preparing the as is study we need to follow the ASAP methodology, and for preparing the blueprint and configuration, we will use the SOLMAN.

  • Difference between save and publish on project professional 2013

    Dear Barbara
What's difference between save and/or publish tasks from project professional 2013 onto project server 2013 integrated with TFS?
For me its the same, if you exclude the integration with TFS in this scenario, that demands publishing, the tasks will be saved in project server anyway.
    Its that right? Thank you.
    Adauto

    hi Adauto,
As a project owner when you create project plan from PWA or from Project Professional Once you save it means it will go to draft database and will be available to you in the server but you can not see it onto Project center.
Once you Click on Publish then  project get publish and sits in publish database at the same time it will sync reporting database too. Once project get Publish then only all the team member who are associated with project will be able to see the project
in project center including you .
Also Users who are having either same RBS assigned to them or heigher to you will be able to see the project onto the project center.
Also All the resource will get notified and task assignment will be assigned to team members.
This is a same case for Project server with TFS integration and normal project server without TFS integration
Main Usability of Save is :
As a Project owner when you start Project scheduling you take time to finish it so everyday you can save it so that next day you can resume your work but in the middle of the scheduling work you wont want to show the data to your organization until- unless
you give it final touch .Once you complete it then only publish it so that it would be available to team members.

  • PE2 - What's the difference between "cut" and "clear" in Project Assets?

When removing items from the Project Assets area, what's the difference between "cut" and "clear"?
Also I believe "delete" is an option at times, but I couldn't replicate it.

Cut should Delete, but transfer that Clip to the Clipboard, where Clear will just Delete it completely - no transfer to Clipboard.
That can be tested by doing a Cut, then move the CTI (Current Timeline Indicator) to the end of the Timeline, and hit Ctrl+V (Paste). That Deleted Clip should appear after the CTI.
Then, clear (or choose a different Clip) the Clipboard, and try Clear. It should not Paste the Clip into the Timeline.
    Good luck,

I really want to know if these functions (or) similar functions are supported/availabe in MySQL.

What's so hard about finding a "best linux distro for installing Oracle11g"? The supported distros are listed in the fine Installation Guide for Linux. At the top of the list is Oracle's own Oracle Linux, which is in the same family as Red Hat.
so i am planning to switch to MySQL. Please help, Thanks in advance.

  • What is the difference between avi and mov

    Hi FCP users,
I am actually an audio guy, but I would like an answer on something.
I work with Logic, and usually use quicktime movies when I am working to movies. But I am working with a client who is an Avid user and swears by avi files. Can someone explain to me the difference. My client explained to me that avi's are better than mov files. He claims their file sizes are bigger, so therefore there quality is better. He said there is some form of compression on quicktime movies which lessen the quality to avi, even if the mov is uncompressed apparently the quality is still less than an uncompressed avi. If this is not true, could someone give me the real big difference between the two.
I thought is was more of a preference, like windows users prefer wav, and apple users like quicktime movies. Like with audio, there isnt a huge difference between aif and wav. Windows users prefer wav and apple users aif.
Thanks in advance for any information.

The vid guy has sent me some files to work with. So I am working in Final Cut to edit some of the video, and then sending it back to him. He is working on PC with Avid. What is the best. Should I convert the avi files he has sent to me to mov files. Then pull these into FCP, and then export it out as avi for him. Or should I export out as mov, and then he converts them to avi when he pulls it into Avid on his PC? Very confusing which is the best procedure between Mac and PC.
Thanks in advance for any help.
This is a disaster in the making. You can avoid being part of the train wreck by either renting an Avid, going to live at his house, or telling him to get a Macintosh.
You must find the lowest common denominator video format that will work on both of your systems. That could be conventional DV, dunno, never used Avid and never tried to edit anything on a PC. But I can tell you this with absolute certainty, it will be easier and, in the end, much less expensive for one of you to adopt the other's platform for the duration of this project. The time you waste transcoding, arguing, formatting your drives, buying secondary products, fitting round pegs into square holes, and trying to find a workable solution (that will keep changing as the project gets more complicated) will cost you much more in terms of money out of pocket and creative frustration than simply buying/renting another station.

  • What is the difference between SWF and F4V in the context of Streaming or progressive Download?

    Hello everybody,
I am absolutely a beginner in working with Captivate and furthermore my technological know how is not that good.
So, I have problems to understand if the export formats SWF and F4V are both capable to be published in the Internet as streaming video and as progressive Download? Well so, I do not really understand the difference between streaming and progessive download either?
Furthermore I was asking myself if this issue depends on how I imported flash videos (there are these two options) in my Captivate project during the production phase?
I would be very thankful for some helping information!
    Greetings,
    Mareike the beginner

    Welcome to our community
I'm not certain I fully understand the differences myself, but will toss out what I believe to be true about the formats. Hopefully, if I'm incorrect in my bellief, someone with more definitive knowledge will chime in.
It was explained to me a couple of years back and is my understanding that "streaming" only applies to a video based format such as F4V, FLV and it doesn't apply to SWF. With SWF, you may specify a preload value. So when the SWF transmits from the web server to the PC, a certain percentage has to be received before play begins. But that's not streaming. It's preloading.
For streaming to occur, the web server establishes a communication channel between the server and the destination PC. This channel is monitored to see what speed is in use. Only enough information is then transmitted to be comfortable at that speed. If the speed improves during the connection, the server serves data at a faster rate. If the connection degrades, the information transmitted is also scaled back so as to accommodate the lower speed.
With SWF, after it has all been downloaded, a savvy user is able to poke around in their temporary internet files and save the SWF for play later. With streaming, this isn't possible because as the stream is viewed, it evaporates from memory.
Seriously hoping others will chime in here to confirm or deny this.
    Cheers... Rick

All capital inventory till FY-2008-09 was transferred to revenue inventory by movemnt typr 411-Q in MB1B.All the codes those were transferrd are now appearing in MBBS but with zero value. • Office 2013 installed with KB2817430, windowsupdate still finds KB2850036. difference between KB2817430 and KB2850036

    Hi,
I've made a silent Office 2013 installer with /admin and put SP1 MSP's in the updates folder.
After deployment under installed updates it shows: Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2817430) 32-Bit Edition
But when I check for new updates, "ServicePack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2850036) 32-Bit Edition" is ready for download and install.
What is the difference between KB2817430 and KB2850036?
It seems that I cannot download KB2850036 and also integrate it in the silent installation.
Another question: Is the updates folder from Office only for servicepacks? or can I put also updates and patches MSP files in here? If yes then i've got a lot of files with the same name and different files sizes. For example After extracting SP1 I've got
the file "proofsp-en-us.msp" which is 10MB and when extracting another patch also i've got a proof-en-us.msp and is 8MB.
So which one need to go in the updates folder?
    Can anyone help me out?
    thanks

    Hi,
As can be seen from below KB articles, KB2817430 only contains Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Office 2013, whereas KB2850036 also contains Service Pack 1 (SP1) updates for other Office 2013 related desktop products. For example, Microsoft Office 2013
Language Pack, Project 2013, SharePoint Designer 2013, Office Proofing Tools 2013, etc.:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2850036
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2817430
So if you have any of these products on your computer, Windows Update might offer related updates to you.
Regarding the Updates folder issue, you can put any Office software updates in it during the initial installation, such as service packs or hotfixes. A newer patch might make changes to a specific file, you can check the version number of that file, and keep
the newer one in the folder.
Here is the reference you will need:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2011/05/05/using-the-updates-folder-to-deploy-software-updates-with-an-office-2010-installation.aspx
(Note, it was created against Office 2010, however the steps should hold good for Office 2013)

    Hi,
If you talk difference than Talend is an open source. SAP DS as huge advantage when it comes to loading data into SAP and it is more flexible with lots of inbuilt features and easy to load data into SAP using DS directly and extracting data from various legacy systems.

actuallly i involved in upgradation project, here my role is
    1. first i check the query's in 3.5 save the query and transport the query. and check the query in bex analyzer also.
    2. go to BI .7  find the query;s ,give the query name and save the query ,
    3. once save the query, again will come to 3.5 open the query , it will not open. this is my job here,
come to 7.0 check the query in analyzer also.
i am having littile bit confusion, how it will comes query in 7.0, why are u saving the query's in 3.5 and 7.0
query's already available in 7.0 why are u doing this work?
can i know the upgrades those  objects, is it neccessary, if necessary how can i upgrade.

    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
I was talking in a general sense not on a query level.
If your taling about migration in that level meaning as a part of larger upgradation (in your case 3.x to 7) there may be many places where you need to do this kind of activities.
Fr eg migration into new data flow, Migration of Web templates from BW 3.x to Netweaver 2004s, etc
    Hope this helps.

  • In the shared variable properties box, when enabling aliasing, what is the difference between binding to a project variable vs. to a psp url

In the shared variable properties box, specifically with regard to a the target being an rt target, when enabling aliasing, what is the difference between binding to a project variable vs. to a psp url?

The difference is in the type of variable you are binding it to.  A project variable is a variable that lives within the specific project in which it was created.  A PSP URL is an address using the Publish-Subscribe Protocol (PSP).  You can learn more about PSP URLs here: http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361G-01/lvconcepts/using_datasocket_technology/#Specifyin...
PSP URLs will enable it to communicate between different machines and also between projects which may or may not be open.  The project variable will exist within the project.

  • What's the difference between jsp and jsf?

who can tell me what's the difference between jsp and jsf?
I'm puzzled when I found some of the technology in jsp is so similar to the ones in jsp( javaserver page)

    Hi,
Find the difference between JSP and JSF
    1. A developer has more control with JSP, but (should) get easier development with JSF
    2. Event handling is done differently in JSP (HTTP) and JSF (Java)
    3. The UI is designed differently (or should be at least) with JSP (markup) and JSF (components).
    4. The end product should also be defined differently - JSP page versus a JSF application.
Is this the only thing that is need to make a decision for either or? Probably not. There are other pieces that need to be taken in account when deciding which technology to use - tools support, enough components, type of application etc.... At this point there are not enough JSF components (although there are some interesting projects underway - Ajaxfaces, Myfaces, ADF Faces, and WebChart 3d) and enterprise tools support is still limited to a few tools vendor. Looking at our ADF Faces components they are currently available as early access (not production) and demands for these components are stacking up, literally, outside my office doorstep. Although I would love to make them production - now! - it is not a viable solution since we are still checking features and fixing critical bugs.
All this combined - not enough enterprise level components in production, lacking tools support etc... - leave customers in a vacuum where the decision is either to continue with JSP, since it is mature and has a wide developer base, or move forward with JSF not sure if the support, or the developers will be there. This is particularly sensitive to customers that need to get started now and be production by summer.
If you are in this vacuum here are some key points promoting JSF:
    1. Fundamental unit is the Component
    2. Built in event and state management
    3. Component sets can be provided by any vendor
    4. Closer to ASP.Net or Swing development
    5. Choice of UI technology
    6. Scale up (rich clients)
    7. Scale down (mobile devices)
    8. Built into J2EE containers in J2EE 5.0 (tentative)
