Difference between SRM and SNC

Hi all,
i frequently get this question from many of my friends who work on SRM, as what is the difference between SRM and SNC.Because the supplier collaboration part of SNC resemles with few functionalities of SRM.
What kind of industries go for SRM?
What kind of industries go for SNC?
Regards,
Nandan

Hi Nandan
SRM and SNC have few functionalities common.
SUS and Plan driven procurement. Like SNC Purchase Order Collaboration, these are direct procurement(Supplier known).
Where SRM has other business process like Self Service Procurement, where in they can create quotations and then compare and select the best supplier(In direct Procurement)
In SNC we do not support Service Orders, We only support Quantity Orders. Where SRM can support both.
They have other Business process(SAP SRM Supplier Collaboration), where in the solutions and backend systems like SAP Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), SAP Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Collaboration Folders (cFolders), and SAP Supply Chain Management (SCM), to provide collaborative planning, sourcing, procurement.
Where SNC plays a material monitor here communicating between OEM & Supplier Org
SRM support both quantity procurement and service procurement directly and indirectly.
Where in SNC supports direct quantity procurement.
It is the business need, upon which they select SNC or SRM.

  • Difference between BBP_GET_STATUS_2 and CLEAN_REQREQ_UP reports

    Could someone explain in simple way what is the difference between BBP_GET_STATUS_2 and CLEAN_REQREQ_UP reports? I have read the differences in standard documentation but it is a little confusing.
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Madhur

    Hi
    CLEAN_REQREQ_UP (Cleaner Job)
    You can use this function for document types Shopping cart, (Local) Purchase Order, Confirmation, and Invoice to trigger a synchronization with the associated documents in the back-end system. The system checks whether and how the (follow-on) documents were posted in the back end, and updates the object link and references, as well as the document status.
    A job (background processing) is generated for the program CLEAN_REQREQ_UP. When this is run, the system queries a database table containing the transfer information of the documents to the back end. The entries are checked with the data of the respective back-end systems. If the back-end transfer is successful, the respective entries are deleted and the prerequisites for further processing are created.
    BBP_GET_STATUS2 (Status Job)
    The status job was created by SAP to update the EBP system with data such as purchase requisition number, purchase order number, goods received or invoices recorded manually in R/3, etc. The report should not be run on a frequent basis at short intervals unless the order count from EBP to R/3 is not that high. Otherwise, a recommended interval for running the report is approximately every hour. Basically the schedule times depend on your business requirements.
    Until this job runs, the user will not see the number of the backend document created in R/3 for a particular shopping cart in the history tab of the check status transaction.
    Some more information :
    Go to:
    SPRO->IMG->Integration with Other SAP components->Advanced Planning and
    Optimization->basic Settings for the Data Transfer->Change Transfer->
    change Transfer for Transaction Data->Active Online Transfer using BTE
    Here you should maintain the application 'SRMNTY' with active flag.
    Once this customizing is enabled, whenever a follow-on document
    (either confirmation or invoice) for an extended classic PO is created
    in the backend R/3 system, the R/3 system communicates to the SRM system
    by creating an entry in the table BBP_DOCUMENT_TAB for this PO.
    The item level of the SRM PO has fields to store the actual quantity
    and values entered for the corresponding confirmations and invoices.
    After that, run the reports CLEAN_REQREQ_UP and BBP_GET_STATUS_2.
    When the report CLEAN_REQREQ_UP runs this will update the
    PO with statistical information. With the latest information in
    BBP_PDIGP table (statistical information) the query should work fine.

  • Difference between BBP_GET_STATUS_2 and CLEAN_REQREQ_UP

    Hi experts,
    Could you point out the difference between BBP_GET_STATUS_2 and CLEAN_REQREQ_UP in SRM? What is its significance both in classic and extended classic scenario?
    Thanks,
    Madhur

    Hi,
    CLEAN_REQREQ_UP:
    It checks whether the backend documents (namely-PR/PO/RES) have been created in the backend systems. Deletes obsolete table entries in SRM as well as updates document numbers in the Shopping Cart. You can't process the SC in SRM until this updae is complete.
    BBP_GET_STATUS_2:
    It ensures that the information on the back end documents is upto date. Retrieves the updated information from the BE systems (for exaple-it retrieves PO number after it was converted from a PR)
    Above reports are mandatory both both Classic and ECS.

  • SAP ECC, SRM and SNC integraton

    Hi everyone,
    I want to know if we can integrate ECC, SRM and SNC. We don't want to use SUS, we want to use SNC. Is it possible to have this implementation? If yes, what is the correct technical scenario for SRM (Classic or Extended Classic)?
    Thanks,
    Ivá

    Hello Iván,
    Regarding your first query, "What kind of changes we can do in SNC " --> As a vendor we can modify the PO quantity and PO delivery date only and update the same as POR. We cannot add any items in the PO.
    Regarding your next query ," changes cannot be send to PO if we are in extended classic?"  --> i think we can send the changes to the SNC even in the extended classic scenario , but we need to then customize our system accordingly with regards to the document types used , vendor classification , idoc and xml mapping , etc.
    We will be using some sort of SRM - SUS integration here in the extended classic.
    Also changes can be synched between SRM - ERP - SNC. and we can have the extended classic with ASN creation in SNC.
    Best Regards,
    Rahul

  • What are the Difference Between "Rfx" and "Auction"?

    Dear SRM Experts,
    I am MM consultant; new to SRM.
    I am trying to prepare list of difference between "RFx" and "Auction" for better understanding of the subject. I am able to see some differences, for example,
    1. In Auction "Weights and Scores" tab is not available, where as this facility is not available in RFx?
                  (I hope this observation is correct?)
    WHAT IS THE EXACT LIST OF DIFFERENCES?
    Ganapathi

    Hi,
    In RFx  there are three option
    RFI- Request for Information.
    RFQ- Request for Quoation
    RFP- Request for Proposal
    In Auction.
    There are two types is Live Auction and Reverse Auction
    In Rfx the time limit is in days -Start date  and End date
    In Auction the time limit is in Hours or minutes - Say 30 minutes or one hour
    In RFX -once the bids are sent to the vendor you can change only upto the End date of the bid
    In Auction  -you can change any minutes or sec  because it is a  live auction
    In RFX . you cannot able to see the  price of the competitor
    IN Live Auction -you can see the price of the competitor and you can bid.
    Normally after RFX only the supplier wishes he can convet to LIVE AUCTION to get the better price.
    For eg there are three vendors - A,B,C --The prices quoted are Rs 95, 96,97 respectively.
    All the vendors are good. inorder to get the price advantage the supplier will convert the RFx into Live auction .
    In that the supplier will get the prices say close to Rs 90 /- because of Live auction.

    Hi friends
    what is the difference between DNL_Plant and BBP_locations_get_all
    thanks a lot
    Regards
    VinayKrishna

    Hi,
    Program  BBP_LOCATIONS_GET_ALL  is used to  get all the plants in the R/3 backend system to SRM.
    DNL_PLANT is a business object you can see in  trascn R3AC for delta download of plants
    See these related  notes:
    Note 501935 - Delta download of plants via business object DNL_PLANT

  • Difference between Null and null?

    What is the difference between null and NULL?
    When is each used?
    Thanks,

    veryConfused wrote:
    There is a null in java, but no NULL. null means no value. However, when assigning value, the following is different:Although the empty String has no special role. Null means, the referential type is not assigned (doesn't refer) to a specific object. The empty String is just another object though, so seeing it or pointing it out as something special when it actually isn't at all (no more special than new Integer(0) or new Object[0]) just adds to the confusion.

  • Difference between GUI_UPLOAD and WS_UPLOAD

    Hi,
    Please make me clear about the difference between GUI_UPLOAD and WS_UPLOAD. In which cases we need to use these modules...??
    Thanks,
    Satish

    I would suggest to always use the GUI_UPLOAD.  I say this because this is the function module which is used in the GUI_UPLOAD method of the class CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES.   Really, you should probably use the class/method instead of the function module.
      data: filename type string.
      filename = p_file.
      call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_upload
             exporting
                  filename                = filename
                  filetype                = 'ASC'
             changing
                  data_tab                = iflatf

                  file_read_error         = 2
                  no_batch                = 3
                  gui_refuse_filetransfer = 4
                  no_authority            = 6
                  unknown_error           = 7

  • Difference between char and varchar, also the difference between varchar2

    Hi,
    Can anyone explain me the difference between char and varchar, and also the difference between varchar and varchar2...

    Varchar2 is variable width character data type, so if you define column with width 20 and insert only one character to tis column only, one character will be stored in database. Char is not variable width so when you define column with width 20 and insert one character to this column it will be right padded with 19 spaces to desired length, so you will store 20 characters in the dattabase (follow the example 1). Varchar data type from Oracle 9i is automaticlly promoted to varchar2 (follow example 2)
    Example 1:
    SQL> create table tchar(text1 char(10), text2 varchar2(10))
    2 /
    Table created.
    SQL> insert into tchar values('krystian','krystian')
    2 /
    1 row created.
    SQL> select text1, length(text1), text2, length(text2)
    2 from tchar
    3 /
    TEXT1 LENGTH(TEXT1) TEXT2 LENGTH(TEXT2)
    krystian 10 krystian 8
    Example 2:
    create table tvarchar(text varchar(10))
    SQL> select table_name,column_name,data_type
    2 from user_tab_columns
    3 where table_name = 'TVARCHAR'
    4 /
    TABLE_NAME COLUMN_NAME DATA_TYPE
    TVARCHAR TEXT VARCHAR2
