Difference between Sun Enterprise Systems and JCAPS

Hi,
Can somebody explain to me the differences between Sun ES and JCAPS? Is it true that JCAPS is buit on top of Sun ES? Also, does JCAPS refer to a single product or a collection of products? Which are the products needed for a developer to start off?
Thanks

hi *,
CAPS is based on ES komponents like appserver or JMS server.
CAPS is one product (one ide & environment) with many modules (connectivity , bpm .....)
many products best is to read the manuals http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/prod/sj.caps#hic

  • Time difference between the Identity system and Access System: OAM

I was installing OAM. Performed the below steps.
    -installed identity server
    -installed webpass
    -setup of identity system console
    -installed policy manager
    -setup of access system console
The above steps were successfull. Then when i was logging into Access system console, i am getting the below error:
Error:there was a problem obtaining the userid. One possible reason for this is a time difference between the Identity system and Access systems (Policy Manager and Access system console).+
The Identity Server, WebPass and Policy Manager are installed on the same machine.
    Userdata repository: OVD 10.1.4.3
Policy and Config Data Repository: OID 11.1.1.3
    OAM: 10.1.4.3
    Windows2008 - 64bit
Found document in metalink similar to this issue. suggested to change ldapmaxofreties. but didn't help.
Any idea on this error. Please Advise.
    Thanks in advance.

    Try this::
Check Time Difference Between Identity and Access Manager Systems
Check the logfile in the Access Manager install directory. The default location is <$AMinstall_dir>/access/oblix/logs/oblogfile.
If the file exists and it contains following line "skew = slack = " that means the Identity and Access Manager Web Servers are on different machines and have not synchronized time within a minute.
Either synchronize times between the two machines within a minute's accuracy or you can increase the slack by modifying these two files: <$AMinstall_dir>/access/oblix/apps/common/bin/oblixbaseparams.lst: loginslack: <$IMinstall_dir>/identity/oblix/apps/common/bin/oblixbaseparams.xml: loginslack: where numofseconds is more than skew found in the oblogfile.
For example, if you have following line in oblogfile "skew = 121 slack = 60", set numofseconds in the two parameter files to 130. After doing this, Stop the Identity Manager Web Server. Then stop the Identity Server. Start the Identity Server.
Then start the Identity Manager Web Server. Start a new browser session and see if you get the same error.

  • Difference between Existing QM system and Vendor QM system in QI info recor

In Quality info record, under inspection control tab, I find 2 options for certificate monitoring, one is Existing QM system and another one is Vendor's QM system, Please advice the difference between them.

    hi dear,
There is no such difference, only he thing is when u developed or upload some new vendor based OM system which is valid from its industry type. Like in manufacuring it is strongly recomended that vendor is certified by some authorized agency like ISO, TUV Nord etc. so when u use this and configure it in ur sap system than u may change the setting and use Vendor QM system in Q-Info, while if is not there than u may use existing QM system of ur own company if u uploaded in SAP or u may keep it blank if not required.
if we use Vendor QM system than it is best practice to maintain QM procurement and related document like Certificate or Delievery assurance from vendor in MM02 ---> QM view.
I hope this short one cleares ur point.

  • Difference between Sun Studio 12u1 and Sun Studio Express...

    Hi,
    on my open solaris:
    SunOS opensolaris 5.11 snv_111b i86pc i386 i86pc
I've installed Sun Studio Express to get the C/C++ compilers. What is the difference with the Sun Studio 12 suite (which is about 200 MB larger than the Express one)? Also I saw there are patches for Sun Studio 12 (last one Jul 20 2009) that might have a fix for a problem I just reported. How can I install such patches?
    Patch: http://sunsolve.sun.co.jp/search/document.do?assetkey=1-21-126498-14-1
    Cheers, Fons.

Studio Express is a pre-release or beta release. Some features may be missing or not functional. It cannot be patched. It can be replaced by a later release.
Sun Studio 12 update 1 is an actual, supported release, later than the most recent (as of this date) Studio Express. If you install SS12u1 from packages (using the installer GUI for example), you can download and install patches for it as they become available. (Installations from a tar file cannot be patched; they can be replaced.)

  • Difference between Sun RI JSF and MyFaces JSF

    Hi all,
I am using JBoss AS and have a JSF application. By default, JBoss bundle MyFaces JSF with Jboss. I have everything working fine with MyFaces. However, I encounter problem when I tried to display the banding for dataTable using Oracle ADF. From my research, it seems ADF table's banding does not work with MyFaces so I want to test out using Sun RI JSF with Jboss. I remove MyFaces jar files and put Sun RI jar file in WEB_INF/lib directory and remove the line in web.xml
    <listener>
    <listener-class>org.apache.myfaces.webapp.StartupServletContextListener</listener-class>
</listener>This is done following Jboss documentation. But when Tomcat starts up, it seems still look for org.apache.myfaces.webapp.StartupServletContextListener class and throw ClassNotFoundException (because I removed myfaces jars). Has anyone benn able switched to use Sun RI in JBoss AS version 4.0.5?
    Thanks a lot,
    LNgo

Probably I should have posted this message on the Java Server Faces forums. I will repost there but if someone happens to know the answer, please help.
    Thanks,
    Lngo

  • Can i know the differences between distributed control system and plc

also i needto know about the various functional units in a gas based co-gen plant

Wide open question with a lot of grey area.
    Basically:
A plc is told to go and it does it thing until either a predetermined set of conditions is met or somebody pulls the plug on it.
Distributed control can be made up of a group of plc's communicating to a supervisor that can cause interaction with various plc's process controllers etc.
Typically, the supervisor will "download" operating parameters to the distributed units ie set points....
The unit is then responsible for achieving that setpoint.
This is very generic. Can you be more specific?

  • Difference between Sun solaris UltraSPARC and Sun solaris Intel(X86)

    Hi,
We have built our application on Sunsolaris Intel(X86) .But one of my client has Sun Fire v240 (but Sunfire uses Ultra SPARC processors)
is there any problem (related to JRE problem)for running that application on Sunfire

If its a java program it should work on both platforms, as long as the java version is the same (or later) as the one you used to build your application.

  • Difference between oracle8 Enterprise and oracle8 server??

COuld some one point me to info regarding the
    differences between Oracle8 Enterprise
    edition and just Oracle8 server..
I have been trying to look on the docs, but
    not much luck..
    TIA.
    jithu

They are essentially the same - the differences are in features, mainly being that EE supports Data Warehousing features such as BitMapped indexes, Table partitioning and materialised views to name a few. There is a doc on the Oracle web site that lists the features and whether they are supported on Server or EE. I don't where, I just did a search one day and found it.

  • Differences between ASEE 8.1 and 8.0

    Hello,
Where can I found an exact list of all differences between Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1 and 8.0 ?

You cannot find such list for the simple reason that Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.0 does not exist. 8.1 is the first release of the Enterprise Edition in 8.x release line.

  • Difference between ALBPM6.0 studio and ALBPM6.0 Enterprise server

Difference between ALBPM6.0 studio and ALBPM6.0 Enterprise server. Can anyone help on this.
    Thanks in advance.

Studio is the integrated development and test environment. As such, it's intended for designing processes, creating the UI for the screenflows, creating the objects and introspecting services that you want to tie into the process. Studio has a runtime engine that can be used by a single developer for testing purposes. It runs a little database called Derby and a Tomcat Web Server - again so the work done by a single developer can be tested on the developer's machine at runtime.
Enterprise on the other hand is the production environment. Unlike Studio, it does not have the capability to develop projects. It is the runtime environment where many end users can concurrently run their instances on an industrial strength engine. It can run on a standalone JVM or an application server.
Studio is for development. Enterprise if for Dev/QA/production environments where many users need to hit the engine and many instances need to run concurrently.
