Difference between Terminal server connection and MSTSC remote desktop connection
Hi everyone , Wats the main difference between Terminal server connection and MSTSC remote desktop connection? Well both are used to connect a server remotely. right!
Are there any much difference between them?
RDP is a protocol and MSTSC is the RDP client.
In the situation you are referring to, you use MSTSC (RDP Client) in both cases, but when you connect to a client PC (Windows 7, Windows XP, etc) you can only connect if nobody is using that PC at the moment, if you connect to a server you can work along with
some other users. Server OS supports 2 connections by default, if you want more people you need Remote Desktop Services and RDS licenses.

I have an Ipad 2 and here is what I am trying to accomplish. On my laptop I connect to a remote desktop connection to access a shared program we use for reporting. How do I set up my Ipad to access this remote server? Thanks for the help.
Close ... before going for a specific Cisco app ... lets find out some details:
Host we need more details:
What is your server environment (Windows Server, or Mac OS X Server, or Linux)?
What security is implemented in your environment - as what is restricted (RDP for all or specifc credentials on all machines? Are you part of local admin group to the server you wish to connect)?
Does your environment Support CISCO IPSec connection? If so use Settings> VPN and IPSec tab to enter VPN details, if not then go with above suggestion. IF your restricted to RSA then either built in VPN settings or 3rd party app for RSA would suffice.
Finally, there are many RDP applications out there I use "Mocha RDP Light" (free minimal ads when launched not when connecting). -
What is the difference between Component,Server,Tool and Software?
HI,
What is the difference between Component,Server,Tool and Software?
SHABEERHi
Every individual part that constitutes in making an SAP System is called a COMPONENT.e.g DB instance, Java CI, ABAP CI etc
SERVER is the actual composition of different components of SAP.e.g. a database alongwith can instance would constitue an application server.
TOOLS are the products from different organisations (SAP or Non SAP) that can be used for different functionalities like keeping a check on jobs, monitoring of the system , e.g Tivoli
SOFTWARES are a kind of tool that help you to bring up results from the system in a user acceptable format. These are utilities that act as interfaces between the user and the system.

Difference between CR Server XI and Business Objects Enterprise
Can anybody just tell me in brief what is the Difference between CR Server XI and Business Objects Enterprise?
Here's the brief summary:
CR Server is essentially Business Objects Enterprise with the following limitations:
- Limited to a single server (no clustering)
- Limited to a maximum of 4 CPUs
- Limited to the Crystal Reports content type
- Limited to a maximum of 20 Concurrent Users (or CAL - Concurrent Access License)
- One CAL can service between 5 and 10 'real people' depending on your usage patterns.
- No Web Intelligence
- No Crystal Xcelsius
- No Dashboarding
- No Enterprise Performance Management
- No Data Integrator
It is ideal for a departmental or a small company reporting server. It includes
- CAL licensing (BusinessObjects Enterprise doesn't)
- One copy of CR Developer Edition for every 5 CAL purchased (Report designers are extra with BusinessObjects Enterprise)
- Live Office for office integration
- Sharepoint 2003 Portal Integration Kit
- Web based report administration and consumption
- Business Views Manager for semantic layer maintenance
I hope this helps - let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks,

Difference between HTTP Server port and HTTP Server listen port
Hi,
What's the difference between the following?
Oracle HTTP Server port = 7780
Oracle HTTP Server listen port = 7781
They are the ports used in my 9ias 9.0.3 instance.
Please advise.
Thank you.Hi,
The server port, 7780, is port where HTTP server response and listen ports are other ports tha HTTP Server can listen. In IAS, the default configuration, the server port is response for Web Cache and Web Cache connect with HTTP Server in listen port.

What is the difference between WebLogic Server users and Portal users
Hi All
What is the difference between users created in the WebLogic server and those
created from the webLogic Portal Admin console.
- leoHi Leo,
The WebLogic server console allows you to create users in the File realm (
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/adminguide/cnfgsec.html#1057106 , "Defining
Users" ).
The WebLogic Portal Admin console creates Portal users in the alternate security
realm that was written to store user/password in the Portal schema. This realm is
com.bea.p13n.security.realm.RDBMSRealm. See the javadoc for RDBMSRealm at (
http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/javadoc/wlp/com/bea/p13n/security/realm/RDBMSRealm.html
For information on alternate security realms see
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/security/prog.html#1041025 , "Writing a Custom
Security Realm".
For information on the File realm see
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/ConsoleHelp/security.html , "Security" and also
search the WLS 6.1 docs for "File realm" for lots of other references.

Difference between Presentation Server Cache and BI Server Cache
Hello Experts,
What is the Diff b/w Presentation Server Cache and BI Server Cache
Thanks,
S GoudaHello,
Okay, what do you want to do about caching at BI server and Presentation server.
A nQSXXXX.tmp is a temporary cache file which maintained by the BI Server for an analysis request by a user and is kind of shared data between the OBI Server and the OBI Presentation server. This is refereed as the 'Cursor Cache' which could be managed by going thru Administration> Manage Sessions > Clear Cursor Cache. These .tmp files are it is not related to BI Server cache.
By Default, the BI Server Cache is stored in the and stored as NQSxxxxx.tbl files. [middlware_home]/instances/instance1/bifoundation/OracleBIServerComponent/coreapplication_obis1/cache]
Caching occurs by default at the subrequest level, which results in multiple cache entries for some SQL statements. Caching subrequests improves performance and the cache hit ratio, especially for queries that combine real-time and historical data.
Below are some useful links for cache management in OBIEE 11g.

Differences between Oracle Discoverer 10g and 11g (EBS & Desktop)
We are in the process of upgrading from Oracle Discoverer 10g testing to Oracle Discoverer 11g.
We have had several requests (from functional users) for documentation that might reflect the changes in this release level. Does anyone have relevant documentation that might help explain what has changed so that they can be better prepared. We are in the process of going from 10 desktop to 11 plus. I do not like it as other end-users I have talked to don't either. In desktop, I could have multiple reports open at one time, move tabs from one report to another so I wouldn't have to rebuild the report again. Also, there are times I have 3 or more sessions of desktop running with multiple reports running in them. In plus, I am limited to one session and one report. That slows down productivity big time. In desktop, exporting crosstabs to excel is more user friendly than plus. For desktop, it will fill in the cells below with the data above it if it changes. In plus, it looks like a pivot table. I have read other posts on how to work around that, but not always functional. Using Dense_Rank() works sometimes depending on how the report is written. IT is researching another way but haven't heard back from the consultants. Or, I will have to modify all my excel files with formulas to do that for me. Also in desktop, I can select all and copy paste the results into excel and all data comes in. The row and column headers, page items and even the title section will paste into excel. Plus only gives you the data, no row or column headers. So I have to export it every time I need the data. I have formatted excel files that all I need to do is copy paste and data flows beautifully. As for organizing and saving reports, desktop is much better. I can save reports out on our network under different folders so I can find them faster by topic. Granted, if that directory is an open one, anyone can change/delete it. In plus, the only advantage of saving it on the database is I can sort and search for reports or users. If you make any changes in plus and then walk away from your desk, plus will shut down after a certain time period. If you didn't save it, you have to start over. Don't know if this is something IT can fix???
As we see it, plus is a step back in technology. I hope someone can change that opinion. Don't know if we are not getting the best support from whoever is working with us (Oracle or 3rd party) or we are missing something???? If so, please share.
Thanks. -
Difference between windows server 2008 and windows small buisness server
dear,sir/madm
i need a differeces between windows small buisness server and winndows server 2008.
plz get me perfect answer
regards,
AbhilashHello,
main difference are that SBS is limited to 75 users and not able to create a trust. Also it comes with additional software like Exchange and SQL depending on the license you use.
The regular server version do NOT contain any application or server as SBS. This must be bought separate. Also there is no user limit and tursts are allowed.

The difference between VTP server and transparent mode on Catalyst Switch.
Hello
I have a question about the difference between VTP server mode and VTP transparent mode on general catalyst switch.
Basically VTP server mode can create and modify VLAN configuration but actually there is not any VLAN configuration through running-config, is it true? When I checked it on Cat3550, certainly there is not VLAN configuration on VTP server mode. But VTP transparent can create VLAN and configuration but does not synchronize with other switch VLAN status. I appreciate any related information and reason of the VTP server mode specification, thank you very much.
[VTP Transparent mode]
3550#sh vtp status
VTP Version : 2
Configuration Revision : 0
Maximum VLANs supported locally : 1005
Number of existing VLANs : 27
VTP Operating Mode : Transparent
VTP Domain Name :
VTP Pruning Mode : Disabled
VTP V2 Mode : Disabled
VTP Traps Generation : Disabled

name TEST-VLAN
[VTP Server mode]
3550#sh vtp status
VTP Version : 2
Configuration Revision : 0
Maximum VLANs supported locally : 1005
Number of existing VLANs : 27
VTP Operating Mode : Server
VTP Domain Name :
VTP Pruning Mode : Disabled
VTP V2 Mode : Disabled
VTP Traps Generation : Disabled

3550#

Best Regards,
Masanobu HiyoshiHi mhiyoshi,
3550#sh vtp status
VTP Version : 2
Configuration Revision : 0
Maximum VLANs supported locally : 1005
Number of existing VLANs : 27
VTP Operating Mode : Transparent
VTP Domain Name :

VTP V2 Mode : Disabled
VTP Traps Generation : Disabled
*omit
3550#
3550#sh run
Building configuration...
*omit
vlan 99
name TEST-VLAN
The above out put indicates that Vlan is created and then mode changed to transparent. i.e why revision no is 0.
3550#sh vtp status
VTP Version : 2
Configuration Revision : 0
Maximum VLANs supported locally : 1005
Number of existing VLANs : 27
VTP Operating Mode : Server
VTP Domain Name :
VTP Pruning Mode : Disabled
VTP V2 Mode : Disabled
VTP Traps Generation : Disabled
*omit
3550#
3550#sh run
Building configuration...
*no VLAN like above configuration on VTP transparent mode.
This indicates that vlan never created in server mode nor learnt from another switch as revision no is 0 -
VPN and Remote Desktop Connection
I have a standalone windows 2012 server that runs a domain with a few workstations. I have successfully configured a PPTP VPN and can connect using a Windows 7 computer at home. Once connected to the VPN, I can Remote Desktop to the server - but not any
other computers. The computer I'm trying to connect to runs Windows 7 and has remote desktop connections enabled.
Under the Access Details in the Remote Access Management the VPN connection is shown correctly first to the router (x.x.x.1) then the server (x.x.x.2) under Protocol 17 and Port 53. Then the server is shown again under Protocol 17 and Port 3389, which must
be the Remote Desktop connection. And then the workstation on the domain (x.x.x.20) also shows a connection with Protocol 17 and Port 3389. However, the remote desktop connection fails everytime. I'm not sure where the issue exists since it appears the server
is seeing and acknowledging the remote desktop connection. On my router I have PPTP passthrough enabled and port forward 3389 to the server.
I have attempted to use the workstations internal IP address as well as the computer name (workstation and workstation.domain.local) when connecting.
Thanks for your help.
I just noticed these three event errors on the destination remote machine. Not sure why it's trying to use L2TP?
Failed to apply IP Security on port VPN2-1 because of error: A certificate could not be found. Connections that use the L2TP protocol over IPSec require the installation of a machine certificate, also known as a computer certificate.. No calls
will be accepted to this port.
A certificate could not be found. Connections that use the L2TP protocol over IPsec require the installation of a machine certificate, also known as a computer certificate. No L2TP calls will be accepted.
The Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol service either could not read the SHA256 certificate hash from the registry or the data is invalid. To be valid, the SHA256 certificate hash must be of type REG_BINARY and 32 bytes in length. SSTP might not be able to
retrieve the value from the registry due to some other system failure. The detailed error message is provided below. SSTP connections will not be accepted on this server. Correct the problem and try again.Morning Trent,
I don't know if this is still an issue for you, did you get it solved?
If not, check on the server whether the user credentials that you're using to RDP to the workstation are actually authorised server-side. If that checks out, on the VPN connection you can specify a protocol to use. Specify the protocol that your VPN is configured
to use on the server.
