Hey iam new to OIM.
can any one send me differnce between Trusted and Target Reconcillation?

Just an example to describe the difference
In an organization, a user (i.e: John Doe) has access to multiple systems: Microsoft Active Directory, Oracle Database, etc.
User John Doe is registered in the company PeopleSoft HR Application. In order for OIM to manage John Doe user, you need to create John Doe user in OIM. This is normally achieve using Trusted Reconciliation. In this example, the trusted reconciliation is going against PeopleSoft HR which is a source of truth for people data.
OIM also required to manage the user Active Directory and Oracle Database accounts. In this case, you run the Target Reconciliation to reconcile target systems accounts into OIM. This will tells OIM that John Doe has AD Account and Oracle Database account. HTH.

    I have an application that I've been running on my older Mac. Now that I have a new MacBook Pro, I have to reinstall new software that is compatible. When I go to the vendor website I see an application I can download or a link to the Mac App Store. Is an application different than an app? When should you download them from a vendor website and when should you go to the app store? Do apps end up in the Launchpad and an application in your Applications folder? I can't seem to find information on what is the distinction. Are they actually two different things? Any help would be appreciated.

    No difference between apps and applications. If you download the app from the Apple AppsStore you have better security and a conveninet place to have all your downloads. Nothing wrong with downloading from a trusted developer though.
    EDIT: Yes they will either wind up in your Download folder as  a .dmg you will have to double-click on to install, or most app store apps will install to your Applications folder.

    BAPI
    One of the big plusses for BAPIs is that the interface and function are not supposed to change.  This is a big plus when you do upgrades or hot packs because the transaction can change (format, required inputs etc) which means you then need to update the call transaction.
    Some of the BAPIs are better documented and easier to use than others. You usually need to perform the BAPI that actually does the COMMIT after you call your BAPI.
    The Program coding for calling a BAPI is usually cleaner than setting up the screen flow etc for the Call Transaction.
    You don't need to worry about special data circumstances interrupting the normal data flow of the screens and causing errors because of that.
    BAPIs probably have better performance since they don't do the screen flow processing.
    In general if the BAPI exists for the transaction you want to perform and you can figure out how to use it the BAPI is probably the best way to go.
    BAPIs are a subset of the RFC-enabled function modules, especially designed as Application Programming Interface (API) to the SAP business object, or in other words: are function modules officially released by SAP to be called from external programs.
    IDOC
    IDocs are text encoded documents with a rigid structure that are used to exchange data between R/3 and a foreign system. Instead of calling a program in the destination system directly, the data is first packed into an IDoc and then sent to the receiving system, where it is analyzed and properly processed.   Therefore an IDoc data exchange is always an
    asynchronous process. The significant difference between simple RFC-calls and IDoc data exchange is the fact, that every action performed on IDocs are protocolled by R/3 and IDocs can be reprocessed if an error occurred in one of the message steps.
    While IDocs have to be understood as a data exchange protocol, EDI and ALE are typical use cases for IDocs. R/3 uses IDocs for both EDI and ALE to deliver data to the receiving system. ALE is basically the scheduling mechanism that defines when and between which partners and what kind of data will be exchanged on a regular or event triggered basis. Such a set-up is called an ALE-scenario.
    The philosophical difference between EDI and ALE can be pinned as follows: If we send data to an external partner, we generally speak of EDI, while ALE is a mechanism to reliable replicate data between trusting systems to store a redundant copy of the IDoc data.   The difference is made clear, when we think of a purchase order that is sent as an IDoc. If we send the purchase order to a supplier then the supplier will store the purchase order as a sales order. However, if we send the purchase order via ALE to another R/3 system, then the receiving system will store the purchase order also as a purchase order.

    There's no difference. They're both runtime plug-ins (they run when an app calls for Java functions).
    You only need Java if you either have Java apps on your Mac that won't run without having it installed, or you use trusted web sites that require Java to function (getting fewer and far between). Otherwise, you have no need for it at all.

    Source Node --- Exists ---target Node ..... this says that the target node will be created if and only if the source node (may be source occurences is 0...1)through which you are mapping exists or not.. If it than target node will be created if not than it wont be created ...
    Source node -
    creatIf---target Node ...... this says that there will be some condition in source side ...if that condition is true than create the target node otherwise do not create

    ALE: used to trnasfer IDOC with in the R3distributed system.
    EDI: used to transfer IDOC from R3system to nonsap system
    IDOCS:
    IDOCS are intermediary documents which are like CARRIERS of the data
    IDOCs are safe to transfer data, but less volume of data. User is not allowed to access (modify) the data like PSA. IDOCs have 3 parts.

    EDI
    EDI concept in SD: the EDI concept is intended to realize the sales and distribution process completely automatically with the help of electronical documents. These documents are sent from one customer to another, are processed mostly on the background and give a possibility to realize the sales process extremely efficiently.
    While IDocs have to be understood as a data exchange protocol, EDI and ALE
    are typical use cases for IDocs. R/3 uses IDocs for both EDI and ALE to
    deliver data to the receiving system.

  • Functional differences between OBISE1 and OBIEE

    Hello,
    beside the licensing restrictions, there are some funtional differences between OBISE1 and OBIEE. I have seen some very neat features in OBIEE which are not implemented in OBISE1, e. g. generating powerpoint or the assistants for bi publisher in word. The actual release of EE is 10.1.3.4.0 and it is 10.1.3.2.1 for SE1. Does anyone know, if SE1 will be upgraded to 10.1.3.4.0? And if yes, will Interactive Dashboards, Answers and BI Publisher in this relaese have the functional range of EE?

    This question has been posted a number of times. Yes, Server, Answers, Dashboards and Publisher are functionally identical in BISE1 and BIEE. You can use BIEE 10.1.3.4.1 to upgrade your BISE1 10.1.3.2.1 (Oracle trust you not to use the stuff you are not licensed to use such as Delivers).

    I am implementing FDM to Load data to HFM, I set them up with a proper security on the shared service and FDM. When I load data to HFM from FDM, there are 4 options to load data. (Replace, Merge, Accumulate, Replace by Security)
    A document states that
    Replace: Clears all account values from the target application, and replaces that the data in the application with the data in the load file.
    Replace by Security: Loads data to the target application only for members to which you have access.
    However, even if I used “Replace”, it worked with security which I set.
    Does anyone know what the difference between “Replace” and “Replace by Security”?
    Is there any way that FDM works without security?

    The fact both methods are producing the same results will either be coincidence or perhaps because you are mis-interpreting the difference between the 2. When you run a Replace HFM will clear out all data based on the combination of Scenario, Year, Period, Entity and Value dimensions it does not care if you have set up security classes which may restrict access to any of the other dimensions i.e. Account, Custom1 thru 4. When you use Replace By Security HFM will still clear on the original criteria but it will respect security class restrictions set up on the other dimensions e.g. if you are assigned to a security class which is restricted to accessing only a certain subset of accounts, HFM will not clear data fro the accounts you don't have access to when you use Replace By Security

    From the docs:
    ALL
    If you specify ALL, then Oracle evaluates each WHEN clause regardless of the results of the evaluation of any other WHEN clause. For each WHEN clause whose condition evaluates to true, Oracle executes the corresponding INTO clause list.
    FIRST
    If you specify FIRST, then Oracle evaluates each WHEN clause in the order in which it appears in the statement. For the first WHEN clause that evaluates to true, Oracle executes the corresponding INTO clause and skips subsequent WHEN clauses for the given row.
    ELSE clause
    For a given row, if no WHEN clause evaluates to true:
    * If you have specified an ELSE clause, then Oracle executes the INTO clause list associated with the ELSE clause.
    * If you did not specify an else clause, then Oracle takes no action for that row.
