HI Goutham,
Serial Number: is nothing but normal numbering to uniquely identify every single piece of product.
Say in mobile industry every mobile has unique IMSI number that can be thought of as its serial number.
Given a serial number you can pin point the particular piece of product.
Batch Number:
Is Nothing but combining the products produced under certain conditions in a batch.
For Example in Oil industry if we talk about 2T oil etc the viscosity, Density etc are quite important.
Now due to slight variations in production the Viscosity Density would not be exactly same for 2 different lots.
So we maintain Batch where we put classification Criteria in Classification view in Material Master.
If the criteria are for example Viscosity and density
Batch1 could be Viscosity=100 density=10
Batch2 Could be Viscosity=110.5 Density=9.71
So while selling by knowing Batch number we can tell the customer about the properties.
Also you would have heard about recall of all the vehicles of Batch so and so from toyota.
Recently Nokia called off all the Batteries BL-5C batteries of a batch.
The reason is they were all manufactured at one time and hence since one of them had that error all would have had the same. So the whole batch can be recalled.

Which of these model numbers have the greatest range?
    A: WRT54G
    B: WRT54GL

It will depend on the wireless settings that you have assign on your router. I think WRT54GS has a slight edge with regards to range.

  • Difference between Order Header BSD and operation schedule SSD

    Hi,
One of your Client is operating on SAP 4.7
There are some cases where Order Header Basic Start Date and operation Schedule Date are no same.
    example:
Present Order Basic Start Date 24.06.2011
Present Order Basic Finish Date 01.07.2011
    Forward Schedled order.
    Operation 1
    Operation 2
Work Center has sufficient capacity and is available to perform work 24hrs.
Using planning board CM10 user dispatches operation 1 to 30.06.2011 and operation 2 to 01.07.2011.
The problem is order basic start date is remaining same i.e. 24.06.2011 and not chaning to 30.06.2011.
Can any one please help in this issue.

yes for all order types and also i have observed that most of work order has basic start date as 24.06.2011 when all the operations of orders are scheduled in future dates (date other than 24.06.2011).
The first time scheduling of work order operation is done on 24.06.2011 (CM10) and then after re-scheduling (through IW38) of operation changed the schedule start date but work ordre basic start date remained same i.e 24.06.2011.
Dispite of first time scheduling and then re-scheduling basic start date remained 24.06.2011.
Note: Same profile was selected in both CM10 and IW38 while accessing planning board.

    Solved!

I think if he wanted to find absolute value he would have mentioned it.
And not asked about other function for taking difference.
Do you want to fight over this? When it is mentioned "DIFFERENCE" and not "ABSOLUTE" value.
Anyways..Will fight tomorrow. I am going home.

    Hi,
maybe somebody can clean up my confusion about the difference of CISCO887VA-K9 and CISCO887VA-SEC-K9.
I thought it because of the Advanced Security and Advanced IP Licenses, but it isn't, I've got the -SEC- Version now just with the Advanced Security license. So I asking myself why I bought the more expensive CISCO887VA-SEC-K9 if I have to buy the additional Advanced IP Services licenses extra...
Maybe somebody know's the difference between these to article numbers?

  • What is the difference between Serial numbers and Batch management.

    Hi Gurus,
Can anyone explain the difference between Serial Number and Batch Management in breif.
    Regards
    Ravi

    Hi,
Serial number management and batch management are different functions that can be
used in conjunction with each other.
    A batch represents a non-reproducible subset
of the total quantity of a material held in stock, which is managed separately from
other subsets of the same material.
    For Example  Different production lots
(for example, paints, wallpapers, pharmaceutical products), delivery lots or quality
    grades of a material.
whereas a serial number is a number that you give to an individual item of material in addition
to the material number, in order to differentiate between this individual piece and all
other items of the material. The combination of material number and serial number
is unique. It is not necessary to use the batch management function to use serial
    number management.
    Regards
    VIjay.

My assistant and I are using two Lightrooms (i.e. two serial numbers) and need to share between our two computers. I provide originals to her onto a flash drive. She tags them and returns them to me. I then copy the photos from her flash drive onto my computer and load them in my LR. The photos appear but witthout any editing or tagging. We need to be able to have her working on the photos on her computer with her copy of LR and me on my computer with my version of LR being able to access what is already tagged and given back to me. This seems hard. We need advice on if it is at all possible to have two computers simultaneously working on LR . I bought her her own version because I was told at the time of purchasing that that was the only way to share. Please advise urgently! Thanks.

Sounds like your assistant isn't instructing Lightroom to write the tagging and editing to the files themselves, so wehn the files return to you, they don't have editing and tagging information. She need to select the photos in Lightroom and then Ctrl-S (Cmd-S on Mac). Or alternatively turn on the option to autmoatically write this information to the files.
If you are using RAW photos, then this information will be written to a sidecar XMP file, and your assistant must provide you with the sidecar file. If these photos are not RAW photos, then the information is written directly into the photo file itself.
Lightroom wasn't designed to be a multi-user program, and so it is truly not possible to have two people working on the same catalog at once. The way you are doing things, as modified above, is probably the way to go.
As an alternative, you can transfer (portions of) catalogs as well as photos back and forth and then all of these issues disappear, but a catalog might be rather large for a flash drive (or maybe not, it depends)

  • Difference between a Journal header and a journal line

    Hi,
Can anyone please explain the difference between a Journal header and a journal line ? Can we have different journal headers for the same journal import process?
    Thanks and regards,

Not sure if I know what you mean, but...
You can organise your journals by using journal headers. A batch can contain many Headers. Like this:
    Batch No 1
    - Journal Header 1
       - Line 1       Deb: 200$
       - Line 2                      Cre: 100$
       - Line 3                      Cre: 100$
    - Journal Header 2
       - Line 1       Deb: 100$
       - Line 2                      Cre: 100$When you run Journal Import, you run for a specific source. So Yes you can have different journal headers for the same import process (if you mean import from GL Interface).
    Does this clearify?

  • Difference between Journal batch, journal header and journal line

    Hi,
Can someone explain what the difference between Journal batch, Journal header and journal line are?
Can we post only one batch at a time?

    Hi,
Journal Batch means it contains batch name, description, status, running total debits and credits, and other information.
Journal Headers means it contains batch ID, the journal entry name
and description, and other information about the journal entry.
Journal Lines means it contains journal entry header ID, the line number, the associated code combination ID, and the debits or credits associated with the journal line.
    So here is the replationships.
Batch--- 1 to many -- Headers
    Headers -- 1 to many -- Lines.
    --Basava.S

  • Difference between header and item movement types in MIGO

    Dear all,
what is the difference between movement type entered in header of MIGO and item level?
not all movements are possible in header. how it is controlled? may not be in OMJJ
    thanks and regards
    gajanan

    Hi Gajanan,
Movement types in Standard SAP are predefined. You can also create a new movement type, but generally it is not required.
In MIGO ,movement types on right hand side corner changes as per the transaction your are carrying out in header level like
Good reciept, Good issue, , Cancellation, subsequent adjustment, Remove from storage, placer in storage etc.....
As you go for transaction and make allocation in the allocation field, the movement type changes.
