  • Difference between urn and url

what's the difference between urn and url?

    <b>What is an URL</b>
An Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is the term used to identify an Internet resource, and can be specified in a single line of text.
    <b>What is an URN</b>
An Uniform Resource Name (URN) is the term used to identify an Internet resource, without the use of a scheme, and can be specified in a single line of text.
    <b>What is an URI</b>
An Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) is used by a browser to identify a single document, and it too can be specified in a single line of text
<b>The general form of an URL has four parts</b>
A scheme followed by a colon.
Invokes a TCP/IP-based application level protocol
Schemes are: http, https, ftp, news, mailto, file, telnet.
    <b>A server name.</b>
A // followed by the host name or IP address of the server
Not needed if the server is the default
    news server
    mail server
<b>An optional port number. Standard or default port numbers are:</b>
    ftp *
    ssh 22
    telnet 23
    smtp 25
    gopher 70
    http 80
    nntp 119
    SSL 443
    <b>A path.</b>
    Consisting of folders and/or files.
May include a file extension which identifies the type of document.
May also include a QUERY_STRING with arguments.
Ftp uses port 20 for data and port 21 for flow control.
    <b>DIFFERENCE BETWEEN URN & URI</b>
The idea is that a URL is a mechanical link to a resource's location, where it can be downloaded. For this reason, a URL contains a hostname and a local part, all of which can be resolved anywhere on the Internet.
What a URN tries to do is different. It tries to give a description of a resource without actually pointing at it. For example:
    urn:isbn:90-365-17273
<b>URI:</b> is a string that identifies any resource. Indentifying the resource does not necessarily mean we can retrieve it. URI is a superset of URL and URN.
    files/reports/marketing/report.html
<b>URL:</b> URI that specify a common Internet protocol such as HTTP or FTP are also called URLs. URL is an informal term an is not used in technical specifications.
    http://www.foo.com/files/reports/marketing/report.html
<b>URN:</b> A URN is an identifier the uniquely indentifies a resource but does not specify how to access that resource.

    I hope it helps

  • Namespaces: Difference between URN & URI

    hi,
Namespaces can either be defined according to URN or URI standards. Wanted to know if there is any fundamental difference between the two and when would one be prefered over the other, i.e. in what circumstance would you use URN and when would you opt for URI.
    Manpreet

    Hi Manpreet,
you use URI i.e. http://<name> when you wish to export your namespaces over the web.
This link will help you understand the concept in a much better manner:

  • Difference between Https & SOAP adapter

    Hi Experts
What is the difference between Web srvice and Http request, when do we used each of them
    Thanks
    RP

    Dear PR,
Use of HTTP: communication between website and XI, for example you are sending information from webpage forms via post method.
Use of SOAP: With many sophisticated web application and services and even between two XI system.

    Difference between SOAP and HTTP:
SOAP in background uses XML + http
you expose outbound interface as a webservice and create a SOAP request to access it.
you send http request to ping a integration scenario directly at the integration engine
You can use HTTP adapter for interacting with HTML pages.
SOAP adapter is used for exposing an interface as Web service.

  • Whats the difference between RFC destination of type "HTTP" and "TCP/IP"

    Hi Folks,
I want to know the difference between RFC destination of type "H" and "T".
In what instances/tasks we would use them?
Looking forward for your valuable answers...
    Cheers,
    Ram.

    Type of RFC connection.
By entering the type of RFC connection, you specify the communication method (TCP or SNA) and the logon type in the target sys
Type T (TCP/IP) destinations are connections to external programs that use the RFC API to receive 'Remote Function Calls'. You must specify the host name and the pathname of the program to be started. The communication method depends on how you select the program location.
Type H is the HTTP connection to R/3 system
Type G is the HTTP Connection to external server

  • Difference Between SOAP And HTTP Adapters

    Hi,
Any body give me some information Abt Differences between SOAP And HTTP Adapters i know both are in use of Webservises. Any one come with more specific differences like in what case we go for SOAP And in what case we go for HTTP. thanks in advance.
    Thanks
    kiran.B

    Hi,
    In addition to the above
The SOAP Adapter enables u to exchange SOAP messages between the remote clients or web servers and the integration server
The HTTP Adapter is used to receive the arbitrary XML in the body of an HTTP-Post request. The HTTP adapter uses HTTP version 1.0 and does not support returning fault messages  to the sender.
The HTTP adapter is used by the external systems  to connect to the integration engine using the native HTTP interface. The plain HTTP adapter is a part of integration engine.

  • Difference between XI adapter and HTTP adapter

    Hi,
I am not very clear on the exact difference between XI adapter and HTTP adapter.
I want to know, when should we use XI adapter and when to use HTTP adapter.
    Regards,
    Santosh

    Hi,
We use HTTP Adapter in case of the Application is trying to post the HTTP Request message to XI and able to receive the HTTP Message from XI also.
While using the HTTP as Sender , HTTP Sits on ABAP Stack and can able to communicate with the Integration Server Directly, No need of any Adapter here, it is adapterless communication
    In Case of Client Proxies
Source application can directly interact with the XI by executing the report in SAP R/3 & will be able to send the XML data to IS,
So no need of the XI Adapter in this case to post xml to XI.
    In Case of Server Proxies
Now XI has to post the xml data to the Target Application, here some thing shld be there to establish the medium with the Target System. So we use XI adapter here.
In the receiver case, we need XI Adaper to communicate XI integration Server with the Local Integration Engine( Which we made in SAP R/3's Business system as local IE) to post the data
Basically XI adapter will be used in normal scenarios also to communicate Adapter Engine with Integration Server internally while delivering the msg.
Check this Msg Flow how the XI Adapter is used in Normal Scenarios

    Hi Adi,
The protocol may be the same but the "idea" is different...
    I recommend you reading this:

  • Difference between Idle Connection Time and HTTP Keepalive Duration?

What is the difference between the Idle Connection Timeout and the HTTP Keepalive Duration configuration parameters? I thought that setting one or both of these values would cause the webLogic web server to terminate client requests that result in processes that run much longer then the time value set in these parameters.

Both of these settings are protection against denial of service at the protocol level, Brian.
<b>Idle Connection Timeout</b> is a generic timeout for idle connections, whereas <b>HTTP Keepalive Duration</b> is specifically for HTTP keepalive connections. (which doesn't cover T3, IIOP or jCOM)
Both of those configuration options are related to freeing up resources like sockets and server-side objects in memory from idle clients.
There's actually no way of stopping long-running processing on the server triggered by a client request that I'm aware of - there are ways you can alert system administrators that something is wrong however.
The best bet there is defining a value for <b>Stuck Thread Max Time</b>, and also for <b>Stuck Thread Timer Interval</b>. That won't stop processing on the server, but it will cause a log message that can be sent on to a monitoring console like Openview.
Beyond that, it's really an issue for application development. There are ways that you can put the brakes on, like ensuring that poentially long-running operations run under a transactional context, and setting a reasonable transaction timeout value. Also, checking for rollback-only settings inside EJB code.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there's no easy answer here.
Does that help at all, Brian?

  • Difference between RTMP and HTTP streaming

    Hello,
I was developing using RTMP protocol to publish and suscribe using Adobe Flex. But I think I need to use Adobe on AWS to use HTTP live streaming.
What’s the difference between RTMP streaming and HTTP streaming in terms of programming?
How can I publish and subscribe via HTTP? Do I have to modify my flex applications?
    Thanks for your attention.

The principle difference is how the protocols communicate over the network. RTMFP is based on User Datagram Protocol (UDP), whereas RTMP is based on Transmission Control Protocol (TCP). UDP‐based protocols have some specific advantages over TCP‐based protocols when delivering livestreaming media, such as decreased latency and overhead, and greater tolerance for dropped/missing packets, at the cost of decreased reliability. Unlike RTMP, RTMFP also supports sending data directly from one Adobe Flash Player to another, without going through a server. A server‐side connection will always be required to establish the initial connection between the end‐users and can be used to provide server‐side data execution or gateways into other systems. The user of a Flash Media Server will also be required to authorize network address lookup and NAT traversalservices for the clients to prevent Flash Player from being used in an unmanaged way.
From wikipedia. RTMFP seems like the logical path for a new application. As for the usage of RTMFP/RTMP outside of Flash, I don't know.

  • Difference between my-secure-amf and my-secure-http

Whats the difference between my-secure-amf and my-secure-http?

For historical reasons, an "AMF" channel is binary encoded AMF byte stream over HTTP.  an "HTTP" channel (bad name!) is an AMFX encoded XML stream over HTTP.
For more on the different types of channels see the documentation here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/LiveCycleDataServicesES/3.1/Developing/WSc3ff6d0ea77859461172e 0811f00f6e876-7fecUpdate.html

  • Difference between HTTP Server port and HTTP Server listen port

    Hi,
What's the difference between the following?
Oracle HTTP Server port = 7780
Oracle HTTP Server listen port = 7781
They are the ports used in my 9ias 9.0.3 instance.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
The server port, 7780, is port where HTTP server response and listen ports are other ports tha HTTP Server can listen. In IAS, the default configuration, the server port is response for Web Cache and Web Cache connect with HTTP Server in listen port.
