Hi
What is the differences between Weblogic Server and Weblogic Server Suite, beside licens costs?
Regards
/MartinWebLogic server standard edition, you get the WebLogic with no clustering.
Clustering is available in the WebLogic Enterprise Edition.
The WebLogic Suite also gives you Coherence and JRockit real-time

What is difference between Weblogic and OSB
Hi,
The title says it all.
What is the difference between Oracle WebLogic and Oracle Service Bus?
Assuming both products are part of the Oracle strategy, when would I use each product?
I am really struggling as I cannot find a link with this information.
Many thanks
JasonJason,
Weblogic is application server. Service Bus is a product which runs on top of Weblogic.
You can find plenty information about both products on the web.

What is the difference between WebLogic Server users and Portal users
Hi All
What is the difference between users created in the WebLogic server and those
created from the webLogic Portal Admin console.
- leoHi Leo,
The WebLogic server console allows you to create users in the File realm (
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/adminguide/cnfgsec.html#1057106 , "Defining
Users" ).
The WebLogic Portal Admin console creates Portal users in the alternate security
realm that was written to store user/password in the Portal schema. This realm is
com.bea.p13n.security.realm.RDBMSRealm. See the javadoc for RDBMSRealm at (
http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/javadoc/wlp/com/bea/p13n/security/realm/RDBMSRealm.html
For information on alternate security realms see
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/security/prog.html#1041025 , "Writing a Custom
Security Realm".
For information on the File realm see
http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/ConsoleHelp/security.html , "Security" and also
search the WLS 6.1 docs for "File realm" for lots of other references.

Differences between weblogic & websphere
hello,
I am working on a insurance project, where i need to go for an Web Application Server, whether BEA Weblogic 8.1 or IBM Websphere 5.0.
I need the differences, advantages, disadvantages of using the servers including cost also.
with warm regards,
chandrasekhar muvvala.Could you tell me what you found out abut jndi lookupsYeah, I got the local:/ blah-blah to work as well. But to get java:comp/env to work, here's what you do:
1) In WSAD's EJB Deployment Descriptor editor, define the relationship you want
2) In the WebSphere Bindings JNDI name box, make sure that the EbjLocalRef's JNDI name is the same as the bean's JNDI name in the 'Beans' tab of the editor.
3) Look up the locally referenced EJB in your code as java:comp/env/<value of the 'Name:' field in the EJB Deployment Descriptor editor|References section>
Example:
You have an OrderSessionFacade EJB locally referencing an OrderEntityEJB. Assuming you have both beans written, here's how use OrderEntityEJB in the 'java:comp/env' context:
1) Open the EJB Deployment Descriptor editor in WSAD
2) Select the 'References' tab
3) Select OrderSessionFacadeEJB from the list of EJBs
4) Press the 'Add...' button
5) Select EJB local reference from the resulting choices
6) Select the 'Browse...' button adjacent to the 'Link' field and select OrderEntityEJB.
7) After defining the locally referenced EJB, expand in the list of EJBs OrderSessionFacadeEJB
8) Select the node 'EjbLocalRef ejb/OrderEntityEJB.
9) Note the value in the 'Name:' field.
10) Note the value in the 'JNDI name:' field of the WebSphere Bindings section.
11) Select the 'Beans' tab.
12) Select the OrderEntityEJB from the list of EJBs shown
13) Note the value in the 'JNDI name:' field of the WebSphere Bindings section. This should be the same name as you saw in step 10.
14) In your code, lookup the bean locally as "java:comp/env/" + value of the field in step 10 (e.g. "java:comp/env/ejb/OrderEntityEJB").
and where you found the information that helped you
figure the syntax out. I didn't find any help in either the included WSAD help documentation or anywhere online. I stumbled across this from many trials and errors. -
Difference between weblogic express and Server
The installers are same as Weblogic Server and Express. There is no differentiator in Server and express. How we can make sure that all the elements in the express component only will be loaded into the memory so that the consumption in the machine resources is less. It seems that it is going to load everything and then the differentiation would be done based on the license. Any Idea ???
Thanks,
AvijitI understand that the difference is in the license file.
So, the answer is not in e-docs ... right ?

Differences Between Weblogic 10 and Weblogic 11g
Hi,
I like to know the differnces b/w Weblogic 10 and Weblogic 11g, can someone provide those information.
your help will be highly appriciated!!
Regards,
SarathHere is a list that I understand as critical/major differences:
1. JDK has changed from 1.5 to 1.6 (WLS10.0 uses JDK 1.5 and WLS10.3 uses JDK 1.6)
2. Console has been improved with great improvements in performance and when it is deployed
3. WLS10.3 is fully JEE5.0 EJB compliant while WLS10.0 is only JEE5.0 Entity bean compliant
4. New deployment features like fast-swap and on-demand
5. WLDF enhancements
6. ASML2.0 support was introduced in 10.3 in terms of Security enhancements
7. JDBC4.0 supportability
AND a lot more (but the above are more significant to me)
(This is not a comprehensive list of all the differences)

Difference between WebLogic 6.1 Domain and WebLogic 7.0 Domain
What is most reliable way of differentiating WebLogic 6.1 Domain with WebLogic
7.0 domain? WebLogic 6.1 Domain meaning interrelated set of WebLogic 6.1 servers.
A server in a domain listed within config.xml when started with WebLogic 6.1 binaries
become WebLogic 6.1 server and when started with WebLogic 7.0 binaries become
WebLogic 7.0 server.
Is there any thing in config.xml file that differentiate the domain affront?I think in ur classpath /weblogic classpath ,u have the jar file of weblogic5.1. make sure to remove all classpath setting of weblogic5.1

BACK button difference between Weblogic and J2EE server
Hi Everyone,
I have a J2EE application implemented mainly with JSP and EJB, which can run on
both J2EE and Weblogic Servers seperately. When running on either of them, the
server acts as both a web and application server.
It is my understanding that it first goes to the cache in the browser when you
try to revisit the previous page (JSP files) by clicking the BACK button in the
browser. If the page is there, it just displays that page from the cache. If not,
it will go to the server to retrive (execute) that page.
When I run my application over J2EE server and try to visit the previous page
by using the BACK button in the browser, it does this way correctly. But when
I run my
application over Weblogic server, it always goes to the server and execute the
JSP file again in the server, rather than simply retriving that page from the
cache. If your JSP file is simply doing data retriving, that is fine. But if it
is doing data inserting, it will insert your data again. This is not good.
I know that the Weblogic server is mainly an application server. But I am not
sure when it acts as a web server,
why it works differently from J2EE which also can acts as both an pplication and
a web server. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions about this?
Thanks a lot.
-John
I believe that the correct behaviour is to rerun the .jsp page unless the
user specifically sets the header to allow the browser to cache it. That
being said... You should never make a web application that can be broken by
the user hitting "reload" or the browser automatically retrying. An
application like this is very fragile and will probably break in practice.
I suggest that you either make all your pages idempotent or you keep track
through a hidden form field a transaction id and only allow the execution of
any particular transaction once. As far as WebLogic not being a good web
server, I would say that with 6.1 you get most of the management advantages
of using a separate web server and also most of the static file performance
you will find with apache or IIS.

Loading servlet parameter differences between weblogic 8.1 and 6.1
While migrating an application from weblogic 6.1 to weblogic 8.1 i have noticed
that a servlet wasn't able to load some parameters. These parameters are context
parameters; setting them as init parameters let the servlet to load smoothly.
So here it is my question:
is it possible that weblogic 6.1 loads also context parameters during servlet
initialization???
Greets,
Luca
In order for someone to help you, you'd have to show exactly what you're trying to do, both in your parameter-reading code, and in the descriptor.
As far as your actual question at the end of your note, I'm not even sure exactly what you're asking. -
