Difference between WRT54G &WRT54GL

Is there a differnce bewteen the WRT54G & WRT54GL models.  The GL is a few dollars more and just wondering if there is any gain with this one.  Also, would you think that this router (being on the 2nd floor of a house) be able to connect good with a PC that would be in the basement?  Thanks.

well..the routers WRT54G v1,2,3 and 4 and WRT54GL are all the same ...
and if the distance between the PC and the rouetr is somewhere around 50-60 fts , the router should be able to send the wireless signals to the PC ..

  • Difference between WRT54G and WRT54GC

I have a WRT54GC with the latest BIOS that I have used for more than 2 years to provide Internet access to five computers at home.  It has an HGA7S antenna and I use a WRE54G Range Expander to get to the front of the house.  The wireless adapters are all WUSB54Gs but the wired connections are whatever is in the laptop or desktop.  The operating systems are all Windows XP Pro.  I am having a very difficult time trying to expand the network to include "File and Printer Sharing".  I have set up other small business networks with few problems.  I have read just about every bit of advice that is available, without any luck.
Could the WRT54GC be part of the problem?  Is the full size WRT54G an improved product that is better at "home" networking?
    Bill-R

For a Range Expander to work properly i.e., to the expand the range its very important that you have to update the firmware of the router, to check if that stops connection dropping. To update the firmware of router try this: 1. Go to www.linksys.com/download and select correct model number and version number. Download the firmware and save it on your computer. 2. Check the file it sould be firmware image file like .bin etc. If it is a compressed zip file extract it to get firmware image file. 3. Open setup page of router by typing http://192.168.1.1 in browser’s address bar, and typing password as "admin" and no user name. 4. Go to administartion tab there 5. Go to fimware update sub-tab there 6. Browse for the firmware image file and click update 7. when update completes turn off modem & router. 8. After 2 minutes turn on modem and after 2 more minutes turn on router. To get network key, connect your computer to one of the four ports on router using ethernet cable. 1. Open setup page of router by typing http://192.168.1.1 in browser’s address bar, and typing password as "admin" and no user name. Use your password if you have changed it earlier 2. Go to wireless tab. 3. Go to wireless security sub-tab 4. If security mode is wpa or wpa2 note down passphrase/shared key, if security mode is WEP note down wep key number 1. This will be your network key Well you need to input all the wireless settings of your wireless network on Wii. To get these settings: 1. Open setup page of router by typing http://192.168.1.1 in browser’s address bar, and typing password as "admin" and no user name. 2. Goto wireless tab. Here you will get the wireless network name/SSID. Here make sure wireless SSID broadcast is enabled. 3. Now goto wireless security sub-tab and here you will get the security mode and the security key. If security type is WPA note passphrase/shared key, and if its WEP note down wep encryption level and key 1 from listed 4 keys Your WRT54GC router is also a good router no need to switch with WRT54G...by doing above steps it should definately work.

  • Difference between wrt54g v.2 and wrt54g-tm

Have the old v.2 and got the new -tm from tmobile as part of their new uma voip hot spot at home phone option. the v.2 seems to have the wmm option so the phone will work, but I'm curious about any other improvements or upgrades the -tm has I'm not aware of. I'm trying to decide which to keep and use. I'm also try to use a wre54g v.1 expander with these.

Difference is QoS(quality of service) bandwidth, specifically geared for VoIP. If you want to get eid of of v.2, private message me.

  • WRT54G*, difference between the three?

I'm in need of a new G-router, and i checked out linksys WRT54GL, which led me to WRT54GS and then i discovered there's also a WRT54G...
What's the main difference between the three, i'm having a hard time to understand which one to choose...
Because prices are pretty equal, i would like to choose the "best" one, so to say.

  • Major difference between WRT300N & WRVS4400N

    Hi,
I'm a newbie to wireless networking. I want to buy a pair of routers connecting my two sites (called them site A & site B).
At site A, I have two P4 class PCs & one PII PC. I used the 2 P4 PCs to browse internet. The PII PC had P2P application running continuously. I would like to put the PII PC in DMZ. The site connected to internet via 10Mbps link.
At site B, I have one PII PC also running P2P application running continuously. I intend to add one P4 PC running web cam services. I intend to put PII PC in DMZ. The site connected to internet via 10Mbps link
Most time I will stay at site A and need to access site B computers via VPN channels. I would like to share site A & site B's internet connections via Linksys routers and install wireless LAN adapters in the three P4 PCs.
I found WRT300N & WRVS4400N model may suit my needs. However, from the user guide found at Linksys web site, I saw no significant difference in their functionality and supported features --- I mean in 802.11x standard support, firewall & VPN functionality and intrusion prevention system support.
I would like to ask besides authentication & IP versions support, what are the major difference between models ? Do these models suit my requirement ?
Also, I found no figure stated in user guides or specification sheets telling how many wireless device could access the router at maximum ?
Besides, I would like to ask if another model WRT54G supports VPN functionality ?
    Thanks for help

hi , the major difference between the WRT300N and the WRVS4400N is ,
The WRT300N is a VPN passthrough....meaning this router will just pass the VPN traffic if the VPN passthrough is enabled or when u manually forward the VPN ports....same case wirth the WRT54G
The WRVS4400N is a VPN endpoint....meaning that you can use this router to create Point to Point VPN tunnels ....dedicated tunnels so your data is secure...
The authentication and IP versions support are the same on both models..
As far as the wireless is concerned.....each router will support a max of about 32 wireless clients...
let me know if you need any more information

  • The Difference Between?

Ok so I believe I know the answer here but asking anyway.
What is the difference between the adobe creative cloud team license vs the adobe creative cloud enterprise license?
is the team licence basically individually licences products per account users?
and is the enterprise one license that covers multiple users at once?
Thanks and sorry for the question but had to verify.

    Hi tbirdbrent ,
Thank you for posting on the forums, the answer to your question is as follows.
    1) Creative Cloud for teams brings together the very latest Creative Cloud desktop apps, updates and upgrades the moment they’re released, and all of the services and business features your team needs to create their best work and collaborate with their peers. Adobe offers two Creative Cloud for teams plans — you can opt for a complete plan (all apps and services) or a single-app plan such as Photoshop CC (access to one app and select services). With each option, you’ll receive access to the same easy-to-use web-based admin console that allows the administrator to centrally purchase, deploy, and manage all seats across your organization — whether single app or complete — under one membership agreement.
    2) Creative Cloud for enterprise is for organizations with large deployments that require centralized provisioning and customized deployment of apps and services. Enterprises also receive enterprise customer support and expert services. Creative Cloud for enterprise also works with Digital Publishing Suite; Adobe Anywhere for video; and Adobe Marketing Cloud, which includes Adobe Experience Manager — all sold separately.
Also, the team licences is not individually licences products per account users and the same goes with the enterprise license.

  • What is difference between sy-tabix and sy-index.

    SAP Seniors,
Can you please let me know what is difference between sy-index and sy-tabix.
I read the SAP help, it is confusing for me. it looks like both are same from help. please help me.
    Thank you

    HI,
Here is a brief description of difference between SY_TABIX and SY_INDEX and using them with several conditions.
    SY-TABIX
Current line of an internal table. SY-TABIX is set by the statements below, but only for index tables. The field is either not set or is set to 0 for hashed tables.
APPEND sets SY-TABIX to the index of the last line of the table, that is, it contains the overall number of entries in the table.
COLLECT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the existing or inserted line in the table. If the table has the type HASHED TABLE, SY-TABIX is set to 0.
LOOP AT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the current line at the beginning of each loop lass. At the end of the loop, SY-TABIX is reset to the value that it had before entering the loop. It is set to 0 if the table has the type HASHED TABLE.
READ TABLE sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table line read. If you use a binary search, and the system does not find a line, SY-TABIX contains the total number of lines, or one more than the total number of lines. SY-INDEX is undefined if a linear search fails to return an entry.
SEARCH <itab> FOR sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table line in which the search string is found.
    SY-INDEX
In a DO or WHILE loop, SY-INDEX contains the number of loop passes including the current pass.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Pavan.

what is difference between sy-index and sy-tabix and where both are using ?

    hi nagaraju
sy-tabix is in Internal table, current line index. So it can only be used while looping at the internal table.
sy-index is in Loops, number of current pass. This you can use in other loop statements also (like do-enddo loop, while-endwhile)
    SY-INDEX is a counter for following loops: do...enddo, while..endwhile
SY-TABIX is a counter for LOOP...ENDLOOP, READ TABLE...
Here is an example from which you can understand the difference between sy-tabix and sy-index.
Itab is an internal table with the following data in it.
    id Name
    198 XYZ
    475 ABC
    545 PQR.
loop at itab where id > 300.
    write :/ itab-id, itab-name , sy-tabix, sy-index.
    endloop.
    My output will be :
    475 ABC 2 1
    545 PQR 3 2
Sy-tabix is the index of the record in internal table.
sy-index gives the no of times of loop passes.
So, for the first record in the output (475 ABC), 2 is the index of the record in internal table and as it is first time loop pass occured, sy-index value is 1.

  • Difference between sy-index & sy-tabix

    Dear friends,
Please tell me the difference between sy-index & sy-tabix
Actually my problem is i don't know how to compare for example between first record'field n and second record'field n when u r in loop so i can take particular action based on result
    on current recor
if possible send me sample code.
    Regards;
    Parag Gavkar.

    SY-TABIX:
Current line in an internal table. With the following statements SY-TABIX is set for index tables. With hashed tables, SY-TABIX is not filled or it is set to 0.
    - APPEND sets SY-TABIX to the index of the last table row, that is the total number of entries in the target table.
    - COLLECT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the existing or appended table row. With hashed tables, SY-TABIX is set to 0.
    - LOOP AT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the current table row at the beginning of every loop pass. After leaving a loop, SY-TABIX is set to the value it had before entering the loop. With hashed tables, SY-TABIX is set to 0.
    - READ TABLE sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table row read. If no row is found with binary search while reading, SY-TABIX contains the index of the next-highest row or the total number of rows +1. If no row is found with linear search while reading, SY-TABIX is undefined.
    - SEARCH itab FOR sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table row, in which the search string was found.
    SY-INDEX:
SY-INDEX contains the number of loop passes in DO and WHILE loops, including the current loop pass.

Null means, the referential type is not assigned (doesn't refer) to a specific object. The empty String is just another object though, so seeing it or pointing it out as something special when it actually isn't at all (no more special than new Integer(0) or new Object[0]) just adds to the confusion.

  • Blends: Difference between open and closed paths modifying spine

Okay, just had a discovery today about the blend tool.
The difference between closed paths and open paths is critical when you want to modify a blend spine, such as make it curve. Between open paths, there is no spine shown when a blend is created. Ever notice this? Between closed paths, there is a spine, which can be modified, such as making it curved. Now, the trick is how to modify a spine with open paths when there is no spine shown. Found out today that starting with a closed path, segments can be deleted to make the path open, then the spine can be modified and the open path state maintained!
This is a huge bug in Illustrator and makes no sense to me. Wanting Adobe to fix this in the next major release. Hope this helps anyone struggling with this issue.

One thing you should be aware of concerning open ended splines:
It makes an enormous difference as to how the blend behaves whether the endpoints have handles or not.
Give them handles and you will find that you can alter the distribution of the blend objects just by adjusting the handles or by dragging on the spline itself.
    Give it a try.
