Difference in battery life between MDR-ZX550BN and BTN200?

I am looking to buy either the MDR-ZX500BN or the BTN200. There are, however, some information that I can not seem to find or get confirmed anywhere. Therfore I hope that it can be sorted out here.
The differences that I can find (correct me if I am wrong) with the newer MDR-ZX500BN are:
- Texture (material?) on the earcups and hinges have switched (metalic and platic)
- Noice canellation (90%)
- Minor changes in button layout (button for anwsering calls)
- 10 grams heavier.
Another thing I noticed is how it claims a battery life that support up to 25 hours of music playback, while the older BTN200 calims 40 hours!
At first I wash shocked at the Idea that Sony would cap their own product like that (only 62,5% of the previous model's capacity).
I personally do not care for the nocie cancelling feature that much and would rather have the extra battery life (especially if that feature reduces the capacity as much as it has done in this case).
Then I thought it made more sense when I read that the 25 hours is measured when noice cancellation is ON.
Though, I can not find any information on how long the battery lasts when the nocie cancellation is OFF.
Some of the questions that this raises:
- These models look quite similar and the older BTN200 seems to be going out of stock soon, but the names are not very similar at all. So is MDR-ZX550BN really a successor to BTN200?
- Are there any minor or major differences, other than the ones that I listed before?
Last and certainly my main question:
- How long is the expected (up to) battery life on the MDR-ZX500BN when the nocie cancellation is OFF?

Never mind.
I found it.
However, It says nothing about it on Sony's dedicated website for my country (Sweden).
I found it on the US website.
It can handle up to 29 hours of music playback with the noice cancellation OFF...
That is still less than 75% of the older and much cheaper BTN200.
Sony... this is not good.
While 29 hours is still quite good. The much higher price (effectively the double in stores, here in Sweden) and extra (even if it is minimal) weight, just won't cut it when your older version is way better.
I have not tried the noice cancelling feature on this particular model. But a lot of reviews says that is the weakest noice cancelling that they have experienced and that it is quite useless.
What the older BTN200 had going for it, was low weight, low price and the most astonishingly superior battery life. If something that makes a more universal impact on society, like an electric generator, was engineered to be as efficient as the BTN200 is among bluetooth headphones, I bet Sony would win the Nobel prize.
The successor MDR-ZX550BN has managed to be worse on all these points, is just generic and hardly worth the price it has.
I have decided that I will buy two (maybe more) BTN200 for the price of one MDR-ZX550BN. So that I may have a some spare ones,  just in case Sony does not improve on upcoming versions.
If someone who reads this has any power to influence Sony's decisions on future models. Please make them realize this!

  • Is it any differences in battery life between the different processors (MBPr late 2013)?

Is it any differences in battery life between the 2,4GHz i5, the 2,6GHz i5 and the 2,8GHz i7?
I'm planing on buying a macbook pro 13" but I'm a little bit uncertain which processor I should chose. I want as much power as possibly but if it's any significent battery diffrences, then I would chose battery over power. I've read that there is about 45 min diffrence between the 2,3GHz and the 2,6GHz in the 15".

I imagine that there are but since Apple makes no such distinctions, I suspect that the differences are not that great.  I have not seen any reports or studies to that effect.
If battery life is of paramount importance to you, consider a Macbook Air.  The advertised battery run times are significantly longer than the Macbook Pro.

  • Optimizing iPhone battery life: Between charges and before replacement

FYI. An excellent iPhone battery care article by iPhoneAtlas.com:
Optimizing iPhone battery life: Between charges and before replacement
    http://www.iphoneatlas.com/2007/07/09/optimizing-iphone-battery-life-between-cha rges-and-before-replacement/

OK, I agree that is a completely false statement. The rest of the article is pretty good.
If you assume a linear decrease in battery charge for each full cycle (which it really isn't, but much easier to model in a spreadsheet). Then 80% of original charge after 400 full cycles is approximately 0.8% loss in battery charge per full charge cycle (again this is a simplification, stay with me). This means that after 400 cycles, you are at approximately 80% of your original total charge level. As stated by Apple.
So, extrapolating that out to EOL (end of life) which Apple assumes to be 50% battery charge, it would take approximately 1,000 full charge cycles for your battery to be EOL (according to Apple). It would actually be slightly less than that since it won't be a linear function.
For me, that's 2 to 4 years of use depending on whether or not I continue using the iPhone as much as I have this first full week.

  • My battery life between charges on my ipad 1 has plummeted to about 2 hours.  The guy at the genius bar suggested it might be an app (unfortunately I didn't have the device with me).  Does anyone know of apps that cause heavy drains on power?  Thanks!

The battery life between charges on my iPad has plummeted to about 2 hours.  The guy at the genius bar said the charge should last about 10 hours and suggested it might be an app (unfortunately I didn't have the device with me and the nearest Apple Store to me is 2 hours away).  Does anyone know of apps that cause heavy drains on power?  It also does not charge when it is plugged into my MacBook while I am using the iPad but it does when I am not using the iPad.  I mostly use the iPad to read e-mails, play Team Lava games, read books through iBooks or Kobo and the ABC Player.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

Restore is about the only option left, short reinstalling the whole thing as new.
Before you restore, go to I tunes and turn off automatic sync.  Then plug the machine in.  Upload any photos that you have taken with the pad into I photos, or where ever you keep your pictures.  Then, in I tunes, transfer any purchases.
If any apps or purchased music get lost in the process, you can download them again for free.
You do not want to make a backup of what you have on the pad now. If you do, when you restore, you will simply recreate the same problem.
What you want to do is restore from a prior backup.  Do that.
Then run the system status app and see what the CPU numbers look like.  If they are ok, then you can start to re add apps until the problem shows up.
If this does not do it, then the last step is to set the pad up as new.  Check the numbers, then add the apps and settings back one by one.    While it is likely to be an app, it may be a setting somewhere.

  • Difference in standby battery life for 3G on and off?

I have an iPhone 4. I was wondering if there would be a difference in the standby battery life if I left the 3G on compared to turning it off?
I know there is definitely a difference in talk time, but the Apple website doesn't say if there is a difference in standby time.

Well all i can say is test it out. Try turning off 3G and use Edge for at least a day or until your battery drains, record the standby time. Recharge your phone to 100% and and this time turn 3G on and test it.

  • If my battery life is getting lower  and lower, can I get my iPod replaced with a new one with the guaranty?

Bought my iPod 10months ago, now the battery life is really bad!!! I need to know if I can get it replaced with the guaranty! Thanks :)

I'd make an appointment at your local apple store, have them check it out and see what they say. If they determine that it's a manufacturer's defect then they may replace it.
In case they do, I'd do a full sync and backup before you take it in.

  • HT201401 Can anyone confirm that 12 hours of low to moderate use is acceptable battery life for an Iphone 5. That is all I am getting. I am using the phone less than I have used any Iphone I have ever had. The battery life between charges is less than hal

I am very disappointed with the battery life I am getting out of my Iphone 5S 64G. I charge it every night, and would be lucky to make 15 to 20 minutes of calls during the day and yet I am lucky to get much more than 12 hours of life out of the battery.
I have to make a conscious decision not to use it to avoid it running out on me. I had it back to the Apple Store last week and they ran diagnostic checks on ot and said that the hardware was within specs.
They replaced the software as it was showing that Springboard had crashed on several occasions. The other problem I was complaining about was that at least 2 or 3 times a day, the phone would refuse to wake up when I hit the home button. It would take sometimes up to a minute of pressing the button before anything would light up. The guy at the Apple store said that this was caused by Springboard crashing and that this would also be what is reducing the battery life.
I did notice that after they replaced the software, the waking up problem appeared fixed for a few days, but the battery life had not improved. Now the waking up problem is starting to return.
It is very annoying and somewhat embarrassing when you are with a client and go to make a call and your shiny flashy new Iphone 5 won't even light up. Especially when you have to borrow your clients Nokia....

My best bet would be to restore the phone. Back it up to itunes, and then reset it Factory settings. This way, any corrupt software will be removed, and you can start fresh. Make sure you back it up first. By the sounds of it, you are using the phone for business and probably need the data from it. Hope this helps!

  • How I fixed my short battery life on iPhone 5, and ActiveSync problems at the same time.

For anyone still having activesync or battery problems I have a potential fix:
    I've had two issues lately.
First, my battery life was draining at an insane rate.  iPhone5 lasted about 3-4 hours before absolutely dead from a full charge.  LTE disabled, WiFi disabled, icloud turned off...about as power efficient as I could make it, and I was hardly using it at all.  I was losing 1% batt every 2-4 minutes.
I solved this problem by removing my work account (Exchange Activesync) from my mail accounts.  Obviously I couldn't stay like that for very long, so after confirming it stemmed the battery issue, I tried to add it back.  Did a bunch of different methods and tests, and what ended up working for me was:
Remove ALL accounts (Had Exchange, gmail, icloud)
    hard reset the phone.
After it came back up, I reset the Network Settings just for good measure.
In Mail control panel, make sure "Default Account" doesn't have an old mail account listed (option may be not even present if you've removed all accounts, but I was having issues earlier where even though I'd removed accounts, it kept listing them in the Default Account/Calendar sections
    Add the Account
    Open Mail
It actually took a min or two to start populating data, I didn't think it had worked, so give it a few minutes.
My battery life issue seems to be fixed, and my ActiveSync account works again.  I've been off the charge for about 4h 40m now, and battery is at 90%, and that's with moderate usage on LTE.
Hopefully this helps out anyone having similar issues.  For what it's worth, I removed/readded my Exchange account several times and it never worked until I had removed all accounts (my iCloud account was the last one to be removed), so if possible, just remove everything.  I had already restored, DFU'd, and tried several other steps.  This was what worked for me.
I have NOT added my iCloud account back yet, but will be doing this now to see if any issues reappear.

I am experiencng rapid battery drain as well. Before checking the forums I have closed apps running in background, turned off LTE, turned off location services, turned off wi-if & turned off Bluetooth...my battery drained to 53% in 3 1/2 hours.
This is my 1st personal iDevice so I do not understand some of the verbiage.
What is "disabled safari on icloud"?
I go to Setting - iCloud & I am not signed in
I don't see anything in Safari Settings about iCloud
Thank you in advance for your assistance
    Jennifer

  • HT1476 ever since I upgraded to ios 7, the battery life is very short and I do not use my ipad all that much.l have been on the phone to apple 3 times, turning off all kinds of things I so not use and have powered off more than before but it is still poor

ever since I upgraded to ios 7, my battery life is very short. I do not use the ipad all that much and have to charge it twice as much as before. I have been on the phone to Apple 3 times and turned off a number of things that I am not using and now power it off more regularly but still not happy with battery life. It is less than a year old and as I said, I don' t use it all that much

OOmgg are you serious I have to write another paragraph..... Uh the iPod is just slow n keeps crashing... Also battery life isn't good ! I love iPhome thogh.... It can be addicting !

How long does a full charge lst and what is the iPod doing during that time? About 4-5 hours of video playback seems to be the norm
    See:

Also for both crashing and battery life
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Difference in file size between EM Export and Export using cmd.....

    Hi ,
I use the following command in a command prompt to export a schema....
    C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\database10g\BIN\exp.exe system/*****@local FILE=C:\FILES.DMP ROWS=Y OWNER=USER_DB LOG=C:\TEST.LOG
which produces a file around 900KB.
When i exported on the same database , the same dataschema , both the data and the db objects ... using the EM the file produced was around 4000KB.....
    Why is this difference.....????
I noticed in the log file of the exported file using EM some additional info... such as :
    'estimated USER_DB.TABLE_NAME 64KB'
Can this info justify the difference in file size between the two methods..????
    Note: I use OraDb 10g v.2
    thanks a lot
    Simon

The export done from EM is from Data Pump export.
The manual export you did is original export.
Try do a manual data pump export using expdp and compare the size.

  • After installing lion, battery life cut by 75% and browser speed slowed to a crawl

My Mac Book Pro was working perfectly fine until I installed Lion.  Now my battery life has been cut but a least 75% (only lasts about 45 minutes on a full charge) and it has also affected the speed of my browser.
    Can anyone help?

There is a 190 page thread discussing the battery life and health issues assocaited with ML that you will find in this forum located here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4135250?start=0&tstart=0 .  Some people have had some success in installing the ML 10.8.2 combo pack over their 10.8.2 instance.  Some have had success in performing a clean install.  Others still have problem, and others have moved back to Lion or SL.  In your posting, are you saying you've installed Lion or Mountain Lion?  I'm assuming that latter.  I've recently reverted back to Lion until I have more confidence that Apple has tackled the issue.
