Difference in IMP GRN due to exchange rate difference
dear experts
i am facing a problem in import po wherein the gr/ir value is as per the maintained exchanged rate for the particular month but the delivery costs value is calculated as per the po exchange rate. I am not able to figure out what is the reason behind this also we maintain the conditions manually for the delivery costs as per actual which should be added to the inventory value.
please give me solution as the matter is very critical.
Regards
gskothari
Presumably the Delivery cost value is calculated based on the x-rate at the time of PO creation (because the x-rate is set when the PO is created).
When the GR is received and this is after an x-rate update, typically monthly, then the GR will be valued on the new system rate but the delivery costs will be valued according to the rate set on creation of the PO (?)
If you want the delivery costs to be calculated on the same x-rate as the delivery (which presumably is in a subsequent period) you would need to update the x-rate on the PO.
Worth testing . . .

Exchange Rate Difference in PO with cost center assignment
Hi All,
In case of exchange rate difference in a PO with a cost center assignment the system Do not post the difference in the exchange rate difference account (maintained under transaction type - KDM - in T-code OBYC). However if the PO is a normal material PO it posts the exchange rate difference to the exchange rate difference account.
I want the exchange rate difference to be posted to the exchange rate difference accout for PO's with cost center assigned as well.
I have searched for SAP notes and found that note # 980402 & 1102481 provides a solution for this issue - but it seems both the notes are valid for 4.6 and 6 release only. We are on ECC 5.0
I have also checked note # 1136145 for this and implemented in the system successfully without any luck.
Can some one please help me with a solution for this issue.
Thanks and regards,
AnkurEven I have implemented this note in our 4.6C system for account assigned POs, but no luck. Please let me know if are successful.
Thanks

Exchange rate differences posting failed due to manual journal entries
when i run exchange rate differences and try to post the result, system shows "No matching recording found 'journal entry' (OJDT) (ODBC-2028) [message 131-183]" at the bottom panel ane the posting was failed. then i found the problem is actually from manual journal entries made to a business partner. as long as i deselect the manual journal entries, the posting was successfully done.
i am using B1 2007B with pl09. is this standard in B1 2007B that exchange rate differences posting does not work with manual journal entries of BP?you are right! it is a bug in 2007B.
The posting has no problem if the base reference number is same as the transaction number in the manual JE document. however, if we define a numbering series which is different from the transaction serial number, then we have problem with the posting. System searchs for the JE records by using base reference number as transaction number. That is why it could not find the JE document and then report the error message.
so, where should i post the bug to SAP and let them fix the bug as soon as possible?
thanks for the help! -
Exchange rate difference between MIRO and GR/IR
Hi,
Exchange rate difference between MIRO and GR/IR we need to written off as a expense for imported w/off expense and in case of assets we need to post exchange rate difference to exchange fluctuation account. Currently exchange rate difference is accounting under capital work in progress(Asset)instead of exchange fluctuation.
Thanks in Advance
Regards
Venkata SureshHi,
At MIRO stage, after entering PO number system will automatically populate the GRN value for selection. Here if you found that invoice value, which you have received from the vendor, is more than the system proposed amount, then you can adjust that diff amount in the GL account tab, which is next to PO reference tab in MIRO.
There enter the exch loss GL account and enter the diff amount.

Exchange rate difference not getting posted to KDM account during MIGO/MIRO
Hello Gurus,
I have a purchase order with many line items. For some of the line items, the exchagne rate difference between the date of MIGO and the date of MIGO is taken to the KDM account. But for some other line items, it is not being taken the KDM. For such line items, the value of the GR/IR account in the local currency is different from MIGO to MIRO. Due to this, the GR/IR clearing is not happening automatically.
Do you have any idea, why the system is not taking the different to KDM for some line items and taking it correctly to KDM for others.
The only difference that I noticed between these 2 line items was
In case where the KDM account is determined, the GR was done for only one line item
In case where the KDM was not determined, the GR was done for more than one line item.
Thanks in advance for your replies
Thanks and Regards
VenkateshHi Venkatesh,
I suspect that in your system may be the setting in OMRW is not activated. If the CCurr indicator is not activated for respective company code. Please refer to the information from note 980402 :
After you implement this note, you can use Customizing transaction OMRW to make settings for the new logic for each company code and each currency (the first local currency and two other material ledger currencies, if the material ledger is active). If the CCCurr indicator (V_169P_PK-KDHW) is set, this activates a new logic for calculating the exchange rate difference (KDM amount) in the company code currency (first local currency). As a result, the system also generates KDM lines for purchase orders with account assignment and for purchase orders with MAP materials in inventory management and in invoice verification if required. If the material ledger (ML) is active, you can set a corresponding indicator for additional ML currencies.Bear in mind that the system performs a 1:1 cancellation for the KDM line in the cancellation transactions.
If the indicator is not activated, then the new logic for calculating the exchange rate difference is not active.
I hope this helps.

Unexplained exchange rate difference
We have created a delivery plan in USD (our local currency is EUR) without fixing exchange rate. This plan has a received several GR and IV at different rates. The material is valuated at standar value.
D.Plan: Rate A , price 15,96 USD/UN
month 1 - GR and IV at rate B
month 2 - GR and IV at rate C
month 3 - GR and IV at rate D
All invoices are posted at a price of 14,32 USD.
In month 1 we had price difference due to differences with the standard price. That was correct.
In month 2 the system has posted unexpected exchange rate differences (key DM). We don't understand them as fas as GR and IV were posted at the same rate.
Could it be that the system is using the rate of the first IV? We wonder the way SAP is calculating that exchange rate difference?no replies

Exchange Rate difference posting during MIRO posting
Hi ,
We are facing an issue for exchange rate difference posting during MIRO.
PO creation , GR posting & IR posting done on same date. Vendor in PO has different currency than company code currency. Exchange rate maintained in OB08 for this period is taken in PO.
PO value & GR value is same. Due to raw material cost there was price difference posted during GR posting.
(i.e. Raw material cost - GR/IR value = Price difference amount)
During posting MIGO, 3 accounts got posted.
Raw material cost account got debited & offset credit to GR/IR account & price difference account (in vendor & company code currency also)
During posting MIRO, 4 accounts got posted.
Vendor account got credited with GR/IR amount & offset to GR/IR account debit.
Exchange rate difference account got credited & offset to price difference account (in company code currency only)
Since PO creation , GR posting & IR posting done on same date, then why system has posted exchange rate difference account in local currency only during MIRO posting ?
Your inputs appreciated.
Thanks & RegardsHi,
there is a setting in configuration of logistics invoice verification where you can control the calculation and posting of exchange rate differences. If you had the setting active that exchange rate differences are calculated against a planned exchange rate, that might lead to the kind of postings you describe. Please check.
best regards, Udo -
Exchange Rate difference in Balance Sheet-Revaluation in Foreign Currency
Hi
I wanted more clarification on the Exchange rate difference the system calculates when we generate a balance sheet and revalue at a fixed rate. The system does not give a breakup of the echange rate calculated. How do we arrive at the exchange rate.
And after having the exchange rate entries posted in the system. Can the system the show these values in the Balance sheet after Revaluation
Regards
FarheenDear Gordan
Below mentioned is the balance sheet which is Revaluated in Euro(System Currency)at a Fixed Rate of 1.42.
at the end of this report we can see that the system has calculated Exchange rate difference as Euro -66483.03 .We want a break up of that amount which is calculated by the system

Exchange rate difference in SAP MM
Hi experts,
Is there any way to bring the exchange rate difference at time of invoice to some other account rather than stock account.
The scenario is; for eg.
in PO : 1 USD = 50 INR
@ GRN 1 UDS = 55 INR
@ INV 1 USD = 60 INR
At the GRN, inventory will be updated with 55 INR.
At the INV, system will value vendor at 60 INR, but in Standard SAP, the difference of 5 INR will be updated as below.
1. exchange rate diff. will be posted to stock account if available stock qty is >= invoice quantity
2. exchange rate diff. will be posted to exchange rate diff acct (as per KDM) ,if available stock qty is 0
3. exchange rate diff. will be posted propotionately to stock account and exchange rate diff acct (as per KDM) ,if available stock qty is < invoice quantity
Is there any way, that system will post the exchange rate difference to separate account , rather than inventory.
It is because in client audit, the audit concern say, according to Indian standards, inventory should be valuated only one time in imports. In case of any differences, it should post to separate account and not inventory. They say SAP allows that. Client asked us the same.
I have checked, OMRW, but even after giving 'N' in ERD setting, system is posting to stock account only.
Any way to meet this??
Regards
sBkDear Sujith,
Exchange rate differences for a moving average price material will be
posted to the stock account, provide there is sufficient stock coverage.
Transaction OLMR -> Incoming invoice -> Configure how exchange rate
difference are treated.
If you set this selection field then the settings in the ERD Setting
column for this currency type are no longer relevant. The system
calculates and posts exchange rate differences between order-related
goods receipts and invoices not just for materials with standard price,
but also for:
* Materials with moving average price
* Account-assigned transactions
* Planned delivery costs
Because of this setting the exchange rate differences are posted to KDM
account instead of stock (BSX) or price difference (PRD) account
If you uncheck the field, exchange rate differences will be posted to
the stock or price difference account, for a moving average price
material, based on the stock coverage.
Please refer Sap note 980402 in detail

Exchange Rate difference for freight clearing
Hi SAP Gurus,
I am facing a problem regarding exchange rate fluctuation. We have an import PO with USD (300 USD for Goods + 24 USD as freight).
The Problem has come at the time of IR
At the time of GR exchange rate was Rs.46.75, but at the time of IR the exchange rate is Rs.50.30
Incase of Goods (GR/IR Material) system attempt to post the difference amount (for foreign exchange fluctuation) to the account defined under Transaction u201CKDMu201D
But incase of freight (Freight Clearing) system attempt to post the difference amount (for foreign exchange fluctuation) to the account defined under Transaction u201CPRDu201D
I want to post the differences (for Goods & Freight) to the account defined under Transaction u201CKDMu201D
Kindly help me.
With Thanks & Regards,
___SAJIB SAHA___Exchange rate differences for open items (KDM)
Exchange rate differences for open items occur when an invoice and a goods receipt for a purchase order are posted at different exchange rates and the material cannot be debited or credited due to standard price control or stock shortage.
Price differences (PRD)
Price differences occur for materials subject to standard price control for all movements and invoices valuated at a price other than the standard price. Examples: goods receipts for purchase orders when the purchase order price differs from the standard price; goods issues when an amount is entered manually; invoices when the price invoiced differs from both the purchase order price and standard price.
Price differences can also occur for invoices for materials with a moving average price when there is insufficient stock coverage for the quantity invoiced.
Depending on the settings for the posting logic for the processing key PRD, you can work with or without account grouping. If you work with account grouping, the following are used in the standard system:
None for goods and invoice receipts for purchase orders
PRF for goods receipts for production orders and
order settlement
PRA for goods issues and other movements
PRU for transfer postings (price differences for external amounts) -

f you set this selection field then the settings in the ERD Setting column for this currency type are no longer relevant. The system calculates and posts exchange rate differences between order-related goods receipts and invoices not just for materials with standard price, but also for:
Materials with moving average price
Account-assigned transactions
Planned delivery costs
The valuation of the inventories or consumption is effectively done at the exchange rate for the goods receipt, and not at the exchange rate of the invoice. When you post the good receipts, the fixed exchange rate from the purchase order is not used, but the translation of the purchase order values to local currency is always done at the posting date of the goods receipt.
If you are using the material ledger with actual costing, the system does not include the posted exchange rate differences at period-end closing in the actual prices of the materials.

Partial Exchange Rate Difference Postings following upgrade to 2007
Hi Experts,
My customer has upgraded from 2005 to 2007. The upgrade has posted roughly 1000 "Partial Exchange Rate Difference Recognition" journals.
We understand the reasons why the journals have been posted. The problem we have is that the Jounral is dated at the Due Date of the Invoice, rather than the actual Posting Date of the Incoming Payment.
The Exchange Difference was actually realised at the point the Payment was received. Why has the system posted these journals with a Posting Date of the Invoice Due Date?
Thanks
GreigHi Greig,
please refer to SAP note Note [1290491|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1290491] - IRU Journal Entries created with incorrect Posting Date.

Exchange rate difference in f-03
Hi all
pl. help me. I am not able to clear open item in f-03 which is maintained in BRL. I am posting payment in usd. the error reads:
Ex.rate diff.accts are incomplete
Diagnosis
The accounts for posting exchange rate differences could not be determined. For the specified G/L account and the specified currency key, the accounts are only specified incompletely. Either the accounts for the implemented exchange rate difference, the accounts for the valuation differences or the balance sheet adjustment account are missing.
System response
The system cannot generate the exchange rate difference posting.
Procedure
By pressing ENTER, you achieve that the document is reset to a status without automatic posting. In another window, you can complete default settings for exchange rate differences and post the document afterwards.
I have called transaction OBA1, and entered the GL a/c and currency BRL. Even i cannot save it says
"Enter line items first or choose open items"
pl reply friends urgently

umaHi Uma,
Exchange Rate has been defined both the end. Like INR = USD and USD = INR.
Here you are not yet defined GL account for Exchange Rate Difference account (Gain or Loss).
T.Code OB09 Define G/L , Currency and Currency Type.
Before that you would have the GL account please create in FS00.
Hope it will help you.

SGD Exchange Rate Difference JE appears in Customer Aging Report
Dear Experts,
SAP Version: 8.81
Local Currency: SGD
We perform Exchange Rate Difference for a USD BP to calculate the unrealized gain/loss during month-end, JE created successfully.
Next, we go to Customer Aging Report and select this USD BP.
When i choose to view the Aging Report in Local Currency, the USD Invoice will appear in SGD + Exchange Rate Difference JE in SGD, the total balance can appear in SGD with no problem.
When i choose to view the Aging Report in BP Currency, the USD Invoice will appear in USD + Exchange Rate Difference JE in SGD, i can't see the total balance as it is appeared as xxxxx.
Above is the behaviour in 881.
Last time in SAP 2005, when i choose to view the Aging Report in BP Currency, the Exchange Rate Difference JE in SGD will not appear, therefore i can see the total balance in USD.
What is your opinion about the behavior in 881? Will you consider it as design or issue?
Thanks.
Regards,
Lay ChinDear all,
This problem is no longer there when upgrade to 881 Patch 08.

Problem while 're-posting' a cancelle Invoice with Exchange Rate Difference
Hi Gurus,
We are facing a problem while re-posting an Invoice with Exchange Rate Difference. I say re-posting because this invoice was previously posted and reversed on the same date. Here is the scenario along with the relevant postings:
1)
G/R is posted in September when the exchange rate for dollar was, say, Rs. 49 = 1 USD.
Posting:
Service A/C.....100 USD (Rs. 4900)
To SR/IR Clearing A/C...100 USD (Rs. 4900)
2)
MIRO is done in October, when the exchange rate was, say, Rs. 48 = 1 USD. Thus, the exchange difference posting was done in the respective accounts.
Posting:
SR/IR Clearing A/C......100 USD (Rs. 4900)
To Vendor A/C...........90 USD (Rs. 4320)
To TDS A/C..............10 USD (Rs. 480)
To Exch. Difference A/C. 0 USD (Rs. 100)
This was the correct entry, however we missed out some TDS codes and thus needed to reverse this entry and repost it.
3)
Now this invoice was reversed (T.Code MIRO) in october itself on exactly the same date on which invoice was created, and it resulted in the following postings:
Vendor A/C......90 USD (Rs. 4320)
TDS A/C.........10 USD (Rs. 480)
To SR/IR Clearing A/C...100 USD (4800, i.e. 48 * 100, Rs.48 being the exchange rate in october)
4)
Now when we try to post MIRO again, it is posting the following entry:
SR/IR Clearing A/C......97.96 USD (Rs. 4800)
Exch. Difference A/C.....2.04 USD (Rs. 0)
To Vendor A/C........... 85 USD (Rs. 4080)
To TDS1 A/C............. 10 USD (Rs. 480)
To TDS2 A/C............. 5 USD (Rs. 240)
This is a wrong entry. SR/IR clearing A/C should have been debited by 100 USD (Rs. 4900), and the Exch. Rate difference account should have been credited by 0 USD (Rs. 100)
Can someone please help us with this. What the system seems to be doing is, that when the Invoice was reversed, the value that got reversed for SR/IR Clearing A/C was 100 USD but with Rs. 4800 instead of Rs. 4900. Now, when we try to repost the invoice, the system divided this value by the exchange rate prevalent in September, i.e. Rs. 49, thus the resultant value 97.96 USD (i.e. 4800 / 49).
Please help.
Thanks!
Regards,
Angad NagpalSolved.
The final entry is correct, as the net result in the G/L balances is the same. For further information please refer to notes 116250 and 46564.
Thanks!
