Difference in integration of  ROAD MAP and FPM Technic

Hi,
I need to develop a web dynpro java application using floor plan manager technique. It should be integrated in the ESS.
Please let me know if i develop the same application in webdynpro abap using ROAD MAP control whether it will integrate in ESS or not.
In case If it sinks let me know what are the functionalities that differ.
Thanks,
Hasini.

Hi GLM,
Thanks for quick response.
All the present ESS applications are developed in webdynpro java by using floor plan manager(FPM) technique. As I am not much aware of java I  developed the same application in webdynpro abap using ROAD MAP technique. I observed in SDN that road map and floor plan manager are different.
I would like to know whether this application integrate in ESS? If so are there any differneces in functionalities.
Thanks,
Hasini.

Road map technique and Floor Plan Manager Technique, both are different.
The FloorPlan Manager is a tool for constructing WD applications with a similar layout and user interface.
The OIF and the Guided Activity Floorplan (GAF) are the types of FPM.
Editing of a single business object is done by OIF and  allows the nesting of header and item details. The GAF, uses a road map  technique for the step by step activity to be performed.
The FloorPlan Manager is very powerful because it can be configured using component and application configuration - allowing you to plug in different UI Building Blocks (UIBB) as Web Dynpro Components or Views. The robust nature of the FPM is becasue of the Consistency between applications provided by it.
The Road Map is  a UI element in WD used to create your own custom applications.

  • Changing Road map step name through Self Service administrator

    Hi,
My requriement was to change the name of road map step in Enrollment iview from review enrollment to just review.
for this change i went to Self-Service administrator role under which Portal Content>Content Provided by SAP> srvconfig>com.sap.pct.erp.srvconfig.ess.employee_self_service> Benefits>FPM APplications>Benefits Application  changed the name in road map and saved it. But the changes are not reflected .Can you tell me what might the reason be?
    Thanks

No I dont have Guided Procedure role. I have all other roles which a normal Portal developer and administrator has.

  • Animating a road map of our trip using CS5

I would really appreciate help on this subject. I have a road map and want to show an animated line of the roads we travelled. I have tried using PS, where I opened the map, created a new layer, drew in the first part of our trip in red, saved that as a jpg file. Created a second new layer, then using a wider brush, in black, and using the FADE option, carefully traced over the red line, at the end of which the wider black line had faded to white. I then deleted the map and the red line layers, and saved the faded line only as a bmp file.
Next I placed the map, then the red lined map side by side onto the timeline of my video in Premiere Pro. I then used the gradient wipe effect to place between these two maps, opened the bmp file, as instructed, then stretched the left and right end of the transition to cover the 2 jpg maps on the timeline. So far I have tried a combination of all of this about 500 times and am about to give up. I can get an animation of sorts, but nothing like the moving snake like line that I want. Also, I have read Mr Hunt's advice, and may resort to placing a PSD Layer over a map, however, I have seen how the moving route line works and it is most effective but almost impossible for me to achieve. I am looking foreward to your views. Thank you.

I promise you that this is best done in After Effects using the pen tool to draw a path along the road. Everything you need comes standard in AE... no plugins.
    http://www.monologue.gr/tutorials/an-animated-arrow-tutorial-to-rule-them-all/
^^^ This tutorial is so easy to follow, anyone can do it in just minutes. You can skip the arrowhead bit and just make the line follow the road, and it's even easier. I take this technique a step further and color the line/arrowhead with keystrokes so that I can animate arrows showing airflow through equipment that change color from red to blue and back to red, indicating the temperature of the air as it moves through the system.
After Effects can be an intimidating program, but give it a shot. You'll love the result.

  • Creation of Road Map

    Hi Friends,
I want to know how do we create a Road Map and assign it to multiple projects.
I want to know all the details.
Kidly help me out in this case.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Banu

    Hi,
    Activities
1.In the transaction Roadmap Repository (RMDEF), you create a new Roadmap or copy an existing one.
2.Create the Roadmap structure in the transaction Roadmap Authoring Environment (RMAUTH):
                                a.      Choose the Change Structure pushbutton in the left-hand pane, and create new structure elements with the right-hand mouse key.
                                b.      You can assign the following to a structure element, in the top right-hand pane:
    §         Structure element description
§         Attributes (flavors, roles, subject areas)
                                c.      Assign accelerators to a structure element, in the bottom right-hand pane.
                                d.      Create an initial view for the Roadmap, with the Initial View pushbutton.
           3.      To use a Roadmap, including its documents and accelerators, in another system:
                                a.      Save the Roadmap in a transport request, i.e. not locally.
                                b.      Transport this transport request into the other Solution Manager system.

  • Usage of Road Map

    Hello All,
I am trying to use Road Map-Webdynpro pattern in my Application. There is no provision to specify the data source for the Road Map and the event handlers for Road Map donot have the Road Map object in the 'importing' list.
How do I access the Road Map and fill data.
    Thanks.
    Srinivas.

    Hi Srinivas,
you can bind different properties of the RoadMap UI Element with your context attributes in order to get the expected results. First you have to create a road map element and add the required number of states in it. After that for mentioning the selected state (hilighted box) changing in the runtime, create a string type context attribute in the roadmap view and attach it to the selectedStep property of the RoadMap UI element. In runtime, say for example in wdDoInit or your action methods you can just call the setter method of this selectedState attribute and pass the name (id) of the step you want to hilight. It will do the trick for you. For displaying the number of step in side the step box, use the 'name' property of the roadmap step item, and for the description of the state which will be written below the step box use the 'description' property of the step  box.
If you have created the RoadMap element in one view and trying to change the state from other views then just map this selectedState property from the RoadMap view controller to Component Controller and then to Other view controllers, so that even if you change this property value from the other views you will get the effect in the RoadMap view. Let us know whether this solves your problem or you need something more.
    Hope it helps!!!

  • Difference between ASAP methodology and ASAP Road Map

    hi
Difference between ASAP methodology and ASAP Road Map
    amk

    ASAP Roadmap
The ASAP Roadmap provides the methodology for implementing and continuously optimizing your SAP System. It divides the implementation process into five phases and offers detailed Project Plans to assist you (in Microsoft Project format). The documentation stored at each level of the Roadmap tree structure contains recommendations on implementing your SAP System and links to helpful tools and accelerators.
    Check the following link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/48/623972d55a11d2bbf700105a5e5b3c/content.htm
    ASAP Methodology:
Accelerated SAP Deals with the Implementation Process Cycle in 5 Different Process...!!!
    Project Preparation:
The first step in ASAP is Project Preparation. In this step the Functional Consultant will analyse the business process and define the system for SAP and will give the time line for the project. The Manpower required and the budgets are also considered in this step.
    Blue Print Preparation:
This is second step in ASAP Methodology. In this step the Project Preparation scenarios are finalised. A out line of the Project is given in this step.
    Realisation:
In this step actual development is taken place. The ABAPer is responsible for this step.
    Testing:
In this step the development done by the abaper is being tested. This is the area where the Unit Test Document is prepared (i.e. Positive Testing and Negative Testing).
    GO live and Support:
This is the final stage where the project is running in the live environment. In this step the bugs if any that are found in the go live procedure are fixed and the project will be considered as support project.

  • ESS FPM: To achieve a particular Road Map Pattern

    Hi,
We require to achieve below mentioned functionality for one of the Custom Developed Web Dynpro objects.
    Functionality to be achieved
Using EP 7.00 feature; wherein Roadmap is designed on EP side using FPM Application and FPM Views and Web Dynpro DC contains only Fc and Vc components (there is no Cc component on WD side); we need to get below road map behavior for the custom developed application u2013
    Custom developed Application has:
    (1) 4 steps - OVERVIEW, EDIT, REVIEW and SAVE, CONFIRMATION.
    (2) Overview screen has got 3 buttons u2013 BTN1, BTN2 and BTN3
    (3) Navigation requirement is u2013 when BTN1 is clicked, control should go to REVIEW and SAVE screen from OVERVIEW screen and then is BACK button is clicked (on Review and Save screen) control should come back to OVERVIEW screen from REVIEW and SAVE screen if BTN1 is clicked.
If BTN2 or BTN3 is clicked, control should go to EDIT screen from OVERVIEW screen and follow normal path as EDIT à REVIEW and SAVE à CONFIRMATION and the same way if BACK button is clicked on REVIEW and SAVE control should come back to EDIT screen, here again if BACK button is clicked control should go back to OVERVIEW screen.
So in short it should be u2013
    BTN1 clicked
OVERVIEW ---> REVIEW and SAVE ---> CONFIRMATION
    OVERVIEW <--(BACK button)--REVIEW and SAVE
    BTN2 or BTN3 clicked
OVERVIEW ---> EDIT ---> REVIEW and SAVE ---> CONFIRMATION
    OVERVIEW <--(BACK button)EDIT <(BACK button)--REVIEW and SAVE
All the above behavior should be satisfied using FPM road map.
    Thanks,
    Mahesh.

  • Problem with context mapping and data flow in a FPM application

    Hi All,
I am trying to develop an ESS application using FPM. For the same, the requirement is to see the history of an employee in the second view.
The first view has got just the overview information and the second one has got the detail. So, the records or the fields are the same on both the views.
As per the FPM guidelines, the Model is residing in the Fc component and the respective Vc components are using the model data accordingly.
I am executing the model in the Fc component calling the executable method in the interfaceController of the first view and then trying to display the output data of the BAPI in the first view which provides the overview information. This is working fine.
But when i am trying to map the same output node to the Table UI for the second view, the record size is coming zero and thus no information is available.
For the above issue, I am again executing the RFC in the InterfaceController of the second view to populate the records, which is incorrect as it is already executed and the data is available for the first view.
I request you to let me know the correct approach to Context mapping and data flow when using FPM-roadmap. Is their any standard method or approach available to deal with such requirements? Please let me know.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    DK

    Hi Idhaya,
I model node is available in Fc and the Fc interface controller is being used in the first Vc and the second Vc.
So the idea is, as the executable method is generated in the Fc, so i have created a custom method to call the executable method in Fc, where the input parameter is getting passed and this custom method is finally getting called is the first Vc.
So , now my first Vc is ready to call the custom method in Fc and execute the RFC. Once the RFC is executed, the nodes in the Fc should get populated which is the ideal case.
And as the Fc is used as a component in the second Vc, the same node is available to the UI elements.
But, when I check the record size for the output node, it is always zero, for the second Vc.
    Regards
    DK

  • Difference between Integration Process and Monitoring Process

    Hi Experts,
What is the difference between Integration Process and Monitoring Process available in PI7.1?
SAP says that Monitoring process is a special kind of integration process that receives the event messages.
My doubt is even integration process can receive the event messages.
Why these two different type of entities are created for the same purpose?
And what is the technical difference between the two in terms of PI perspective?
    Regards,
    Sami.

    My question is now answered.
On page 17 of this pdf following sentence is mentioned :-
From technical perspective, there is no difference between monitoring process and integration process.
Though logically those are two deifferent things.
Monitoring porcesses are used to receive only event messages that is comprises of event data only.
Like Purchase order creation is a event and its event message will have the event data like Order Id, Created on, Created by, Quantity etc., instead of whole purchase order.
Where as Integration Process is a way to provide solution in some specific circummtances like where we have to automate our process or where we need something in between for the course of communication.
Guys thanks for your precious time.
    Regards,
    Sami.

  • Difference in idoc adapter header mapping between SP14 and SP19

    Hi All,
    i have a very strange problem.......i have 2 XI systems : XI-sandbox and XI-dev.....
    XI-sandbox is on XI3.0 SP19 whereas XI-dev is on XI3.0 SP14...........
I have a file->XI->idoc scenario which is same on both XI-sandbox and XI-dev....
in receiver idoc adapter, i am using header mapping for sender service and in the sender service i am using XPATH of a field of control rec of idoc.........
this scenario works fine on XI-sandbox which is on SP19 and the idocs are sent to SAP R/3 sandbox...........but this scenario on XI-dev gives error in SXMB_MONI in XI-dev of Call adapter - "No party conversion found".........
So my question is that is there any difference in idoc adapter header mapping between SP14 and SP19.........

    ><i>so i cant use apply control rec values from payload.........</i>
    rajeev,
I know this has nothing to do with the original problem but please do bear.
If I undertood you posts correct, the Sender Partner Name is set in the Idoc Control record in the field SNDPRN in the mapping using some mapping logic.
Now, this is the partner name with which the idoc is to be posted to thge R3 system.
if yes, then like I have pointed above, using "Take Sender From Payload" in the Receivcer Idoc Adapter is a better option as pointed in the SAP help as well.
As you are already populating the idoc control ecord with SNDPRN just make the SNDPRT as LS and then select "Take Sender from Payload" in the receiver Idoc adapter and the Sender Partner Name will not be taken from SDNPRN just as you want.
This is different from "Apply Control Records From Payload" .

    Bhavesh

  • Oracle Maps and ADF Faces integration

    Hello,
Developing ADF Faces application with integrated JavaScript Oracle Maps I came across a problem.
I have Search Form on my JSF page that searches for some object. I want to pass the object's ID to a backing bean that connects to database, uses Oracle Spatial function to locate object via ID and calculate X,Y position for Oracle Maps.
On the page I want to use setCenter(X,Y,srid) but I don't know how to get those parameters from backing bean or how to access JavaScript object on the page from backing bean.
    Any help?
    Branislav

You can probablly write a reusable javaScript setCenter() function that takes the x,y as parameters. Note your setCenter() function will need to set the center and also call mapview.display() so that the map will be actually refreshed in the current preview release (this will be made easier in the next preview release of MapViewer).
Then, during the render-response stage of your search form, where you are creating the result table to be displayed to the user, you can add a click button to each row that says 'center the map on this feature'. Then prewire the 'onClick' function of each button to invoke the setCenter() function above, using the corresponding (x,y) that is in the backing bean of your search results.
    thanks
