Difference in sizes of copied Aplibraries

I am backing up/copying over some Aplibraries onto external drives and find that copy 1 might be 25.04G in size but the same Aplibrary, same date and time of creation is 25.13 in size. Should I worry about this??? The larger size appears to be on the start up drive [Pictures folder] and the external drive has the 'smaller' one.

I haven't done that yet but did speak to Apple with someone versed in Aperture == he thought it might be similar to what Kirby suggests -- there are data within the library that are specific to its location [ie caches and other information that has to do with the specific drive it is on, ie my MacPro] but when it's moved, that information is not relevant so there are fewer bytes. We looked at the two libraries and they have the same # of pictures so it may be some deep internal bytes 'missing' == these are not drop dead Libraries [just backing up so I can trash ones not worth working on, finally] so if there is not much difference, I'll not worry about it == if it's an important Library I'll compare the # of images....Ultimately it will take too much time to be totally rigid about it and I'm not in possession of the time or patience, but at least I now know what may be going on and what I can do to double check before I move on. Thanks much. By the way, these are not [for the most part] referenced images = I tried that, got helplessly lost and decided to do managed images henceforth, and was much happier.

The language copy tool is a one-shot tool to create pages under a certain structure. It has a nice UI for it. But that's it.
The MSM blueprint/livecopy concept is much more powerfull, because it has live connections between the blueprint and the livecopy. It does not only allow you to easily create livecopies, but supports you also in maintaining the relationshop between these. So you can easily detect, that the blueprint page has been updated and needs to be rolled out again. Or that there are conflicts, because both blueprint and livecopy have been updated independently. And so on.
From my perspective the language copy tool should not be used, because with creation of language pages the "fun" has just started and the real work is just ahead.

How can you get photoshop to keep the same font size during copy and paste? For example, I copied text that was 14pt and it pasted as 16.44pt. I am copying and pasting text in the same photshop document. Thanks!

Then tell us more about your issue: is it the case for all files, does it happen for text lines, or paragraph text, inside the same text block...

You can call the SIZE() method of the NODES and LENGTH() method on ATTRIBUTES.
Like if you have node Employee and Employee_ID and Employee_Name are attibute under it. suppose you have already populated the node employee.

I purchased an incase slider before my 32 GB 3GS arrived. When I put the phone in it today, it was so incredibly tight that I almost couldn't get the phone back out of it. I called the incase company and they said that despite Apple's claims that the phones are identical it is possible that the 32 GB phone is slightly thicker and is causing problems with certain slider cases. Incase is nice enough to send me a replacement (even though I bought from apple store online) when they have verified that their cases fit the new phones. My previous iPhone was a 2G so I could not tell if the new case would have fit the 3G. I guess, try before you buy.

Difference in size of various tops after copying from one server to another

As part of cloning I am copying appl, comn and ora top to a different server. After copying the overall size at directory level is slightly lesser than the source server. For example my appl_top in source server was 22.55GB and after copying it was 22.50 in the target server, same with comn and ora.
The source server is AIX p5 server and target server is AIX p6 server and the instance is 11.5.10.2. I am doing the cp in nohup mode. I have tried this two times and both the times there is same difference.
Will there be an issue?

Different photo file sizes when copied back from external HD

I backed up some photos to an external HD (80GB, same size as in my iMac at the time), with Mac OS Standard format, under Tiger. The internal HD crashed, taking much unbacked-up data with it to the digital beyond.
Now with my new Leopard iMac (and wisdom acquired by experience), I have noticed a different file size on the different drives after copying the photos back.
Other posts have pointed out differences in memory allocation / block size as the culprits, however, can that make the large difference seen in my case?
Example 1 is a Tiff file of 8.2 MB on the external HD, which shrinks to 6,8 MB when copied to the 500 GB iMac drive (taken from the Get Info window)
Example 2 is a JPEG which shrinks from 1.2 MB to 552 KB when copied over.
Examples 1 & 2 also shrank to 6.8 MB and 576 KB respectively when copied from the 80GB external drive to another, 320GB external FAT32 drive.
So my question is: Am I somehow losing something with the shrinking files? Does memory allocation/block size difference make that big a difference?

I think I ought to mention that I also have a new laptop and have experienced file sharing permission issues with some applications. Might this be part of the problem? (Although everything seems to be properly owned!)

Maximum file/folder size for Copy Finder Items?

As I mentioned in another recent post, I used Automator a while back to set up a workflow that would Get Finder Items and then Copy Finder Items. Set it up as a iCal plugin. Worked fine for a long time, but I just checked and saw that the largest of the three folders (1.8 GB) was not being completely copied. The other two folders, much smaller (20 MB or so) were fine, but several folders within that large 1.8 GB folder were being skipped. I opened the workflow, and ran it, and it came up with an error that just told me to check the workflow. Is there a maximum size on this type of workflow? Seemed to work fine before . . .

The *Copy Finder Items* action will not make duplicate copies. If you want multiple copies of the same item, you will need to rename or duplicate the item before copying, since the copy action doesn't have an option to rename, and the duplicate action doesn't duplicate to a different location.

How to increase Array size while copying from remote table

I guess that you are using the 'copy' command in sql*plus.
1. You could export the remote table and import the data into your local table. That perhaps would be efficient.
2. You could increase the array size for example,
SQL> show arraysize
arraysize 15
SQL> set arraysize 5000
SQL> show arraysize
arraysize 5000
SQL> What is the value for sql*plus option 'copycommit'?
SQL> show copycommit
copycommit 0

Disk size after copying a disk with dd

Hi all,
I recently bought a new hard drive, larger than my old one. I thought I'd be smart, and copied partitions using dd:
dd if=/dev/sda1 of=/dev/sdb1
I noticed today that there is something wrong with the size remaining on the new drive, and after reading a bit, it looks like I should have used some specific option to prevent it from truncating my new disk.
Does anyone know how I can recover the remaining space on my hard drive ?

Is there a way to increase the size of a paper I am trying to copy

What do you mean by mirror the movies playback? Do you mean
you want the graphic effect of having the partial mirror image of
the movie appearing below the movie? Like a water reflection? If
so, the only way I know of is to copy/paste, transform, etc. the
potion of the movie you want reflected, which of course, increases
file size. There may be an actionscript way, but I'm not sure. Try
the actionscript forum.

Aperture Library and Vault: Why the difference in size?

My Aperture Library is 226 GB and the Vault that's supposedly backing it up is only 144 GB?
I recently upgrade from a G5 to a new Mac Pro. The Library is intact but has something happened after I updated the vault? I can't remember if the vault size was so much smaller before I transferred all the date from my old Mac to my new one. Should I delete everything on the external hard drive containing the Vault and create a brand new vault?

A bit late, but just thought I'd add to this. Tidysteve is right, the previews can use up a lot of space. If you're using hi-res previews, they're effectively a JPEG of the same dimensions as the original file, so they can be quite big. If I do hi-res previews for my DSLR they can be up to 4 or 5 MB each so it could definitely explain the big difference.
Try rebuilding your previous at a smaller size. BUT, do it when you've got nothing else to do and walk away for a while as it will take a loooong time.

Difference table size values

I want to know the sizes of some tables (e.g. TCURR). In different threads the transaction db02old and the function module 'DB_GET_TABLE_SIZE' are mentioned for that purpose.
I wonder that using these methods two different sizes are
Using transaction db02old I get a size of 81.920 for TCURR.
Using function module 'DB_GET_TABLE_SIZE' I get a size of 79.937 for TCURR. Why is there a difference between both values?

DB02old gives the correct information as it directly updates value from Database.
Function module 'DB_GET_TABLE_SIZE' depends on the variables you have set and it useful for ccms operations.

Why does Dynamic Type change to a fixed font size when copied from one Note to another Note in the Apple Notes App?

If I copy and paste text from one note to another, it pastes in at the current Dynamic Type size but is no longer adjustable. I have tons of notes with various fixed size text. Is there a way to reset all the text in the Apple Notes App to Dynamic Type so they can be adjusted using the font size slider in settings?

When you use IMAP, as opposed to "On my Mac," Notes will create a folder called "Notes" on the mail server. It will then store notes in there. If you create subfolders in Notes (which you can do), those will be stored as subfolders of Notes on the server.
So in the case of Gmail, you should be able to log onto your Gmail web account and the notes should probably show up in "All my Mail" with a label of Notes (this is because Gmail's IMAP implementation is VERY nonstandard and it doesn't actually support folders; it uses labels instead). If you view the Notes label in Gmail's web interface you should see all your notes.
Because of Gmail's IMAP implementation you should be very careful not to remove the "Notes" label from any of your notes if you're in the web interface, or they will disappear from the Notes app on OS X itself.
