  • Difference between AD domain user and local user

    Hello, I think the title is self explanatory. I am trying to figure out difference between AD domain user and local user. SAP Help wasnt very helpful.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    It's about where the user accounts are kept. Domain users are users that are entered into the domain users group on a domain controller. These domain users can be centrally managed at the server. Whereas the local users are the users created in the local system.
    In BPC, you can select users from either of them or in combination as well. However, If you want to make change in the local user credentials, you need to login to the system in which the user has been created and make the changes there. On the other hand, changes to domain users can be made from any domain connected machine with the right software and the necessary rights. The changes only need to be made once.
    Hope this helps.

  • What difference between a domain trust and a forest trust?

    What difference between a domain trust and a forest trust?

    Greetings!
    The answer is right on the question! :)
    I think it is best to distinguish properly between forest and domain. This article is a good one:
    What Are Domains and Forests?
    But in a nutshell, a forest trust is mostly used between two organizations, Suppose company A has a unique forest and company B has another unique forest as well, when they are merged they can simply create a forest trust between each other, This trust can
    be one-way or two-way depending on your needs.
    Domain trusts are between a single instance (domain) of a forest to another instance (domain) of another forest. It is worth mentioning that trust can be transitive as well.
    What Are Domain and Forest Trusts?
    I hope you got the answer.
    Regards.

  • Reverse engineering domains

    I was wondering whether anyone has an SQL script to insert new domains in the repository. We are redesigning an old application that had its own variant of cg_ref_codes, and we would really like to avoid creating the hundreds of domains by hand.
    Thanks for all help!

    Try to insert your domains into the CI_DOMAINS table with an Insert command.

  • CU50 difference in Engineering BOM cost and Sales BOM cost

    Dear All,
    I have material  BOM    M0001 --configurable...finished prodcuct (spe procuremt 52)
                                                 M2100-- confifurable --- Phontam (semi finished)
                                                           M8600---- configurable (semifinished) specP 52                                                       R7000---
                                                           R7000--non configurable material
                                                           R7000--non configurable
                                                           R7000-- non configurable.
    Now in T-code Cu50  under configuration tab simulation
    1.  when i am selecting Engineering Tab and then costing  tab   all materials are picked for Engineering BOM costing.
    2. when i am selecting only costing tab (Sales).. then the material R7000--non configurable  qty 54
                                                                                    R7000--non configurable  qty 27
                                                                                    R7000-- non configurable. qty 18
    are not costed.
    What could be the reason for not picking the cost for the material R7000
                                                                                    R7000
                                                                                    R7000
    Please help me..
    Thanks in advance.
    regards
    janardhan

    Hello Janardhan,
    This is standard SAP behaviour. As per details given by you, it seems that material's consfiguration profile have settings of "Order BOM" and "multi-level" in CU43 transaction. So for such settings, system behaves differently for Engineering BOM and sales order cost estimates as given below.
    1. Click on u201CEngineeringu201D Button and then click on u201CCalculationu201D  Button : System simulates the cost estimates through transaction CU51. And in CU51 BOM explosion for cost estimate is multilevel. So system will show all the components in the BOM of header material. So you will find all the components listed in Cost estimate simulation.
    2. Directly click on u201CCalculationu201D  button : System simulates the cost estimates as it use to simulate in VA01 transaction. Becasue of this, there is NO BOM explosion till last level. System will only simulate the Cost estimate by exploding the BOM till 1st level. So system will show only 1st level BOM components. So you will find only 1st level BOM components listed.
    So dont try to check anything in it, as its standard SAP behaviour.
    Regards,
    Nachiket.

  • Difference between domain controllers and group policy objects in GPMC

    Hello,
    Am in confusion, someone can tel me the difference between
    1.Domain controllers>default domain controller policy  and
    2.Group policy object>default domain controller policy
    In Group policy management console and also i would like know where to define these categories. I normally use second option.
    I have attached screenshot for your information.
     regards,
    Dharanesh,

    This first/upper item is a link to the GPO, the second/lower item is the actual GPO.
    (notice the link, has a shortcut arrow showing)
    by default, when you double-click on a link, a message will display which says "you have clicked on a link....." and the messagbox offers a checkbox for "do not display this message again..."
    Effectively they are equivalent to a shortcut-to-a-file vs. the actual file.

  • For what does the BPEL Manager need a domain ?

    For what does the BPEL engine need a domain ?
    Where (in which file) is specified to which domain the BPEL Manager
    connects to?
    Is it a difference if the domains are defined in table
    orabpel.domain
    or just
    domain
    ? With which user/password/service does to BPEL Manager connect to
    Oracle DB to search for its domain?
    Background: My domain "default" exists in table but BEPL Manager could not connect here

    We currently have 3 domains for BPEL. We use them because they a) serve different purposes, b) we tweak the domain level threads.
    I believe bpel manager will, by default, connect to the which ever domain starts with the letter closest to A.
    I also think the user account is orabpel, which connects to the bpel schema.

  • Weblogic em and console crashes in Forms 11gR2 domain

    Hi,
    I am working towards an APEX and/or Forms11gR2 environment from Forms and Reports 6i.
    Coming from a client-server background,with the concept of application servers etc totally unfamiliar territory.
    and a near-zero knowledge of Java its been a tough few weeks,but I have managed to install a test 11gR2 Windows 32 Oracle Database win 7,
    Weblogic 10_3_5 Admin server and a managed server on Windows Server 2008 32 bit 4GB memory,install and deploy
    APEX and the APEX Listener and also install Forms and Reports 11gR2 using a separate domain as required by the installer.
    The Weblogic Admin server and its managed server are stable and i can access and administer them no problem from a browser
    with em and console.
    My problem is with the domain created by Forms and Reports for deployment. I can login to the console and em of
    that domain but whenever I click on a link inside, the domain crashes with a "fatal error detected by the Java Runtime environment".
    The Domain name is FormsDomain.
    As I need to start the WLS_FORM and WLS_REPORT in the Forms Domain through the console, I am stuck.
    Can anyone help,I have pasted the output form the created log file:

    Hi,
    a hint anyone?
    The domains I created with JDeveloper work without any problems and are totally stable,
    while the one created through Oracle Forms just crashes all the time when accessed through the console
    or em.
    Is there any difference between these domains?
    They all use jdk160_24 and the Forms Domain crashes even when running alone, so it can't be lack of
    physical memory, I would think..
    I would have created a domain through JDeveloper and extend it, but extending a domain is only possible if
    the domain is created with Forms, so I am well and truly stuck here.

  • How to bypass from OAM authentication for certain domain

    Hi All,
    We are trying to unprotect certain domain from OAM domain but coudn't. Please help us fix this issue.
    Environement details:
    We have two nodes, one node for OAM_OSSO and another one for OSSO_Portal application.
    OAM server details:
    In this server, oracle application server single sign on(services are HTTP, OC4J, and OID) and OAM. Integrated OAM_OSSO using [ID 979827.1]
    Portal server details:
    In this server, oracle application server single sign on(services are HTTP, OC4J, and OID) and portal weblogic server(portal application) is running. portal weblogic is registered with thier own portal OSSO.
    In OAM, We protected following portal url's
    /sso/auth
    /pls/orasso/orasso.wwsso_app_admin.ls_login
    portal _OAM integration is working fine.
    Now portal team come with new requirement for customer, application also running in their same portal weblogic server and that portal application domain is alreday registered with Portal OSSO and Portal OSSO page is protected by OAM. the requirement is bypass OAM authentication, and need to authentication against their own portal OSSO+OID.
    Please tell me how to bypass OAM authentication from this scenerio.
    -Sarath

    Hi MD,
    Thanks for your update.
    We are using oracle 10g. Please tell me how Anonymous scheme will help us to get out from this issue.
    Portal Weblogic server registered with portal IDM server and portal IDM server OSSO protected by IDM OAM. So if i tried any of the application which deployed under portal weblogic server will get protected by OAM right. Please correct me if iam wrong.
    In this scenerio we have two OSSO, one in OAM node and another one in portal server. Now portal team come up with new webserver domain for customer, in customer scenerio we want authenticate againt portal OSSO with their own OID rather than using OAM authentication. Here my concern is, customer or employee the portal weblogic server and portal OSSO are common for both user but only difference in webserver domain.
    So if i tried to access customer application, then customer webserver redirect to portal weblogic for open the requested page(note if webgate not in picture). portal weblogic server is register with portal OSSO and its redirect to portal OSSO for authentication but Portal OSSO server integrated with OAM using webgate.
    1. When tried to access customer application ,Portal OSSO server tried to show own sso login page for authentication but Portal OSSO server already integrated with OAM. so portal OSSO server requested to OAM to access portal sso login page not the request of customer page login.
    2. here,portal OSSO login page protected and OAM serve login page for OAM authentication against OAM OID. If i specify anonymous scheme for customer domain then how will work here, portal OSSO requested to OAM to access portal OSSO login page not the customer page or employee page...
    Here OAM authentication will come into picture for all scenario but need bypass for customer login.
    Requirement is when customer trying to access then authentication need to happen in portal OSSO not in OAM. Hope you understand the architecture.Please suggest how.

  • #550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.RecipNotFound; not found ## for all emails to one of my domains

    Hi All
    I can see this question has been asked allot, but none of the answers seem to be the same as my issue
    Exchange  2007 / SBS 2008
    I have 3x domain email addresses for all of my recipients
    @domain1.com (default reply)
    @domain2.com
    @domain3. com
    @domain4.com
    all of a sudden, all emails getting sent to anyone with @domain2.com are bouncing, to start with there was no reponse, but the mail logs were showing "550 5.1.1 User unknown" in the logs
    So I unticked "Block messages to recipients not listed in the GAL" on exhange anti spam, after this the messages were getting to the exchange server, but then getting bounced with the above message
    I have tried removing domain2.com from the email address policy and the acceprted domains, and readding it, but it made no difference
    all my other domains still work fine, its only this one
    I'm at my wits end with this, if anyone can shed some light it would be appreciated
    Let me know what other info i need to provide
    Cheers

    No issues related to the GAL in the event log
    I have disabled all the anti spam features
    first I restarted all the services, no change, then I booted the whole sever and that made no difference
    all the domains are set up as authoritive
    the domain2.com is a seccondary email address for all users, so
    user1 has
    [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
    I can email successfully to user1 on all emails execpt for [email protected], that bounces, and the same issue occurs for everyone not just mail sent to user1, so its definitely related to domain2.com
    it's really odd
    any other ideas
    Cheers

  • Generic code in OSB across 2 domains

    Hi
    I have a requirement to maintain the same code base for a set of OSB domains.
    The difference in the domains is the ip address,ports of the Business Service and Proxy service and also,
    there are some checks done depending on the domain where the code is deployed.
    I understand that the customization file can be used to set the endpoint URI's of proxies and business services.
    But in my OSB code, I have routing options used where i override the endpoint URI's currently, I have hardcoded it as
    'concat(jms://<ipadress>:<port>/<picking the connection factory and queue name from the data coming in to the proxy.>)'
    Also, at some places, there are checks required. To make it more clear:
    if the code was to be deployed on domain1, I would need the xyz variable to be one of particular value say 'value1' or 'value2'
    and if the code was to be deployed on domain2, it would need the variable to be one of value3 or value4.
    One option is to: have a property file somewhere in the local directory and have a Java class(static methods) which reads the property from the file. And in the OSB code, we have a java callout to call this jar file and get the property. and based on the property value, we would do the checks.
    The basic purpose is to have a OSB code that does not need to change irrespective of the domain it is deployed.
    At the same time, the values of some variables in the OSB code should be decided based on the domain it is deployed.
    Can anyone please suggest what can be done in this case?
    Is there a way to achieve this, other than the option I have thought of?

    I would not be changing my DVM. I would have a single DVM having the data available for both domains
    eg
    <properties>
    <domain name='domain1'>
    <value1>test1</value1>
    <value2>test2</value2>
    </domain>
    <domain name='domain2'>
    <value1>test3</value1>
    <value2>test4</value2>
    </domain>
    </properties>

  • WLS 8.1 two domains with EJB and webapp deployed has JVM conflicts?

    Test configuration environment:
    Windows 2003 server installed with weblogic 8.1 server and oracle 9i.
    This weblogic server have two domains, one is for EJB deployment, the other is a webapp that implements accessing to oracle through EJB.
    The issue is when we tested a method provided by the EJB that uses double to calculate some total value, the result was correct. But when we tested it using webapp that was deployed on the same server of EJB, it's result was negative or zero.
    I think the reason is that the JVM which both EJB and webapp used for calculation was the same and may made some conflicts when they run at the same time.
    Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance!

    This morning I deployed that webapp to the Domain that deployed the EJB, The results of calculating in webapp's jsp was correct.
    Any one be kind enough to tell me what the calling JVM differences between single domain(deployed by EJB and webapp) and two domains (deployed EJB and webapp separately)?

  • Group MSA account fail when Domain Controller in Test Domain Fails to start KdsSvc. Event ID 7023

    Yesterday, in my test domain, I created the KDS root key using the Add-KdsRootKey –EffectiveTime ((get-date).addhours(-10))
    command on a DC that is not the PDC Emulator because it was the server I was on at the time.  Today, when I tried to create gMSA accounts on the PDC emulator, I get:
    Event ID 7023 The Microsoft Key Distribution Service terminated with the following error: An Exception occurred in the service when handling the control request
    I turned on logging on to the KdsSvc and get 2 other errors:
    KdsSvc Event ID 4001: Group Key Distribution Service failed to start. Status 0x80070020
    KdsSvc Event ID 4007: Group Key Distribution Service cannot connect to the domain controller on local host.  Status 0x80070020.  Group Key Distribution Service cannot be started because of the error.  Please contact the administrator to resolve
    the issue.
    I took the opportunity to clean up AD, the Schema, and DNS, but the kds errors continues.  I am replicating successfully, DNS changes are reflected immediately, and when I run the get-KDSRootKey on the failing server, the key is returned.  The
    Get-KdsConfiguration matches the KDS config on the DC that originally ran to create the key.
    I have a pretty strict GPO pushed to my DCs but I am still able to create gMSAs on the other server.  I checked ADS&S and found the msKds-ProvRootKey so I know it is at the domain level, but there is so little documentation on the KdsSvc that I
    am not sure if it is working as planned.  I have tried unassigning several GPO configuration items but I am throwing darts at this point.  I have also uninstalled McAfee AV; IDS/IPS; Firewall.
    With that said, I have questions:
    Will gMSAs still work even though the domain pdc emulator cannot start the service?
    Is the KdsSvc supposed to start only on the server Add-KDSRootKey was originally created?
    What happens if the server the KdsSvc key was created fails and has to be removed from the domain?
    Is there any books or configuration items I can review to learn the KdsSvc better?
    Env:
    Windows Standard Server 2012 R2 x64

    Repadmin returns clean results (/showreps & /replsum)

    Hi,
    For Windows Server 2012, the Windows PowerShell cmdlets default to managing the group Managed Service Accounts instead of the original standalone Managed
    Service Accounts.
    New-ADServiceAccount -name <ServiceAccountName> -DNSHostName <fqdn> -PrincipalsAllowedToRetrieveManagedPassword <group>
    -ServicePrincipalNames <SPN1,SPN2,…>
    Did you use the command abouve?
    Here is a good bolg:

  • Any ideas why some boxes/domains would get "access denied" on nmConnect?

    I have four boxes running NodeManager, with 2-3 domains on each box. I want to be able to use WLST to connect to the NodeManager on each box, to perform certain operations. On each box, I've created each domain using the same process (it's entirely possible I missed a step somewhere). The application deployed to each of these domains (the same application is deployed) appears to be working ok. The admin console also works perfectly fine. I can stop and start managed servers from the console.
    I execute wlst on each box exactly the same way. At each prompt, I enter a fully-qualified "nmConnect()" call, specifying the user, pwd, machine, nmport, domain name, domain path, and "ssl". I've verified all of these field values (like the password) many times. On all but one of these boxes, the result of this call is:
    Traceback (innermost last):
    File "<console>", line 1, in ?
    File "<iostream>", line 1379, in nmConnect
    WLSTException: "Error occured while performing nmConnect : Cannot connect to Node Manager.Access to domain '<domain name>' for user 'weblogic' denied Use dumpStack() to view the full stacktrace"
    I've carefully examined any meaningful differences between these domains, and I can't see anything that might cause this. Of the four domains, two of them are in production mode, and the other two are not. The only one that does not fail the connection is not in production mode (but note that the other that is not in production mode also fails).
    What else could be the cause of this?

    At first I thought this was working fine. It now works fine from WLST. Unfortunately, the admin console now fails to see the nodemanager. I even tried restarting the admin server. No luck.
    I then copied back the old nm_password.properties file (I made a backup first) and now WLST fails, but the admin console can see the nodemanager, so it's back to where it was.
    What's curious is that the contents of the properties file after wlst hashed it was different from the original hashed value, and the wlst-hashed value was very odd. The original hashed value ended with "0\=" at the end of the line. After I replaced the "hashed" property with the cleartext properties "username" and "password" and then ran wlst, the new contents of the "hashed" property was in TWO lines, where the first line ended with "0\=" as before, but the next line contained the last five characters of the password value that I entered. I tried this on three different boxes, and the behavior was the same, with respect to the odd hashing.

  • Unstable session replication in a HA cluster (CF10)

    Hi,
    We have tried to create a HA cluster with requests being distributed round robin to N instances of coldfusion, we are NOT using sticky sessions as we are replication session state to all cf instances. What we are seing is that all is fine with low to moderate load, however under heavy load and at random times the replication fails and leads to things in session scope not working. This manifests in users not being able to login to our application (we store a token in session scope to store logged in status).
    Again key point, under low to moderate load it all works fine, users are directed to random nodes in the cluster and their session is picked up fine as the session is distributed to all nodes,so pretty confident config is right.
    Linux servers using CF10 with update 12 applied. Also running is fusion reactor 5.04 on all instances. Each instance has a 64GB heap, Java 7.0.15 (latest certified).
    Firstly apache setup.
    workers.properties
    worker.list=balancer, jkstatus
    worker.jkstatus.type=status
    worker.balancer.type=lb
    worker.balancer.balance_workers=cfusion_master,cfusion_slave2,cfusion_slave1
    worker.balancer.method=R
    worker.balancer.sticky_session=False
    worker.balancer.ping_mode=A
    worker.cfusion_master.type=ajp13
    worker.cfusion_master.host=localhost
    worker.cfusion_master.port=8012
    worker.cfusion_master.max_reuse_connections=250
    worker.cfusion_master.lbfactor=100
    worker.cfusion_slave2.reference=worker.cfusion_master
    worker.cfusion_slave2.port=8014
    worker.cfusion_slave1.reference=worker.cfusion_master
    worker.cfusion_slave1.port=8013
    Now the server.xml from 2 nodes (as an example if I run a 2 node cluster)

    I'm unsure why this happens as tribes uses certified mesaging so it should have resent right?, in any case I believe I can change it so messages are not sent asynchronously, should sort this out.

    So session state dies appear to be flying around the cluster, I do nightly restarts of some of the nodes due to another issue I have with an ever growing heap (separate issue), interestingly I also see nodes leave and join the cluster, again this is good (shows the multicast is working, and also that replication should be working).

    So stuck now on how to proceed, to establish why at random times the replication fails, leading to cluster collapse. Could it be the size of the session?, I have a few CFCs stuffed into session scope, but perhaps when the load is high there is too many?. Things fail even with a cluster of 2 on one server, initially I had a 8 node cluster on 2 separate machines but when it failed it rolled it back to a cluster of 2 instances on the one server to see if that was stable (its not 100% which is what I need).
    Any advice, points gratefully received.

    So Lynux, that’s an interesting sounding solution. Would be great if it made some difference for Guitsboy. We’ll see. I notice that you say you’ve not yet tried it, though, and fair enough. Thanks for offering it.
    But I’m curious: did you ever resolve your original problem? And if not, hopefully you saw the note I just wrote to Guitsboy, asking him something that may well interest you if you still have your problem. On rereading this thread, from back in April, I’ve also had some new thoughts come to mind which I’ll share, if it may help either of you, or others with this seeming same issue.
    To remind readers who may not want to review the whole thread, you had said originally that “all is fine with low to moderate load, however under heavy load and at random times the replication fails“, and that this failure “manifests in users not being able to login to our application (we store a token in session scope to store logged in status)”.  Then it seems you may have concluded that things were down to the error you were seeing in the logs:
    Mar 05, 2014 9:55:19 PM org.apache.catalina.ha.session.DeltaManager messageReceived
    SEVERE: Manager : Unable to receive message through TCP channel
    java.lang.IllegalStateException: removeAttribute: Session already invalidated
    And now guitsboy reports seeing the same error.
    But here’s the thing that came to mind for me tonight as I read this: you know, there can be a lot of other reasons that users can feel that they “lose their session”, even without using clustering and replication.
    There are issues related sometimes to folks having duplicate session tokens (which can happen for various reasons, including perhaps ones in your code, and maybe only when people visit pages in a certain pattern, so that it happens only occasionally and not always).
    Then there is an issue that can arise if you are supporting both http and https requests, where Tomcat (not CF) balks at that (see http://www.petefreitag.com/item/817.cfm, and though he shows a solution in IIS you should be able to implement a similar one in mod_rewrite if that was indeed perhaps your issue).
    So I’d be curious if either of you may be in a position to have a failing client use any sort of client tool (like Chrome’s dev tools, or Firebug or Firefox’s new builtin tools, or IE’s f12 dev tools) to watch the communication between the client and the server, and especially to watch the cookies being sent. You guys both mention using jsessionid. Are they the same cookie value on each request? And/or are there more than jsessionid? I’ve seen it happen. There could be differences in the domain property reported for the cookie, the httponly property, the secure property, and so on.  And you really do want to view the value sent from the client to the server, because if you view the cookie scope on the server a) it may show values set ON the server rather than sent TO the server, and b) it won’t show these additional cookie properties that were in play on the client. CF only sees the cookie name and value.
    I’ve helped many people find out that this was the reason for the seeming session loss (and sometimes it was not all requests by all clients but perhaps only some requests for some clients, all on the same server). At least if this is the crux of the problem, you can then tackle WHY it’s happening.  There can be many reasons, from code to configuration, so I won’t belabor them now.
    But if either of you may be able to confirm this, perhaps we can help you both get a little closer to a real explanation and solution for your problem. Again, I’m just guessing a bit based on what you’ve written. I realize it may be that none of this is the problem and you have hit some other real unrelated bug. But I really feel confident that you ought to try to check this out first, as it’s indeed been the crux of problems for others, without respect to clustering.  It seems worth ruling out, so that you don’t get misled chasing the problem on the assumption that it is about clustering.
    As always, hope that helps.
