in abap point of view please give me the difference between work bench request and customizing request

In simple terms -
Work bench Request is used by ABAPer.(Creatation of Programs, TCodes or ABAP Dictionary Objects)
Customizing Request is used by Functional Consultants. (Used to configure the system as per clients Business requirements).
The Change Request is that request when you do some thing new in customizing or configuration in the system. The system will automatically pop with the change request pop box , when you can give request name as defined by the system or can give your own request name with heading of what changes you have made while customization. The system will generate a request number and you save it. (e.g.:- VEDK-2785467) VEDK- means the Clients System name then followed by the system generated request number.
Now when you want to release the request you have to use the T-code SE10 where you can see the requests under the heading modifiable or released. Go to the modifiable option. Each request will have again an internal request number. First you have to release the internal request and then release the external request number. This will in turn released by the basis guys thru the T-code SM64 in a group when all the requests are pooled from different users.
The task which you have mentioned in your question is nothing but the what task you have performed while customizing the client system and the heading name which have given it for that task and generated a request for that task.

Customizing Request:- which will be used when any customization changes are doing.
Example:- In your standard Tcode always you cannot find all the fields or options, if you want to enable/disable some fields, in this case it will be treated as Customizing request, any customization will comes under this.
Work Bench Request:- for new developments like new reports, BDC....etc, then Work Bench Request will be used.

Difference between work bench request and transport of copies

hi-- what is the difference between wrokbench request and transport of copies. when it comes to overwrite originals etc. thanks
i am transporting from production to development and i need to make transport of copies of that workbench request, why i need to do this?

Workbench request - created in the 'source system' where the object was first created. Each object has a 'source system' attribute (table TADIR).
Copies - When transporting from a system other than the 'source system'.
The basic idea is that the 'source system' is the place where an object shall be changed (using a workbench request), while copies can be moved from other systems as well. You can ofcourse override this check.

Transporting Customizing Settings
All system setting changes are put in project-specific change requests. You can transport the system settings into other SAP Systems with the change requests. The change requests are managed in the Transport Organizer.
There are two types of Customizing change requests:
Customizing request
Customizing requests contain changes to client-dependent tables.
Workbench request
Workbench requests contain changes to client-independent tables.
You can monitor the change requests by project in the project management. The Transport requests tab contains the following functions for the current client:
Activate CTS functionality
As prerequisite for creating change requests. When the CTS functionality is active, the pushbutton label changes to Display CTS project data. When the CTS project is finished, the pushbutton label changes to Reactivate CTS functionality.
Assigned CTS requests
Go to Transport Organizer request overview, where you can create requests for a project.
CTS project object list
The project object list is unchanged. When the customizing project is finished, the complete object list can be exported.
CTS project status switch
Sets the project status switch.
End CTS project
End your customizing project. You can reactivate it later.

Using PMW(Payment medium work bench) and Classic payment medium programs

Hi
Can you please anyone explain the difference between PMW(Payment medium work bench) and Classic payment medium programs in the APP.
Please let me know based on what cosideration these can be used?

The consideration is nothing, it is purely based on the business requirement.
Following information may be useful.
SAP has provided some of the DME structures for different countries. like GB_BACS for GB etc.
If your client is not part of those structure, probably you are required to create your own structure. It also depends on the bank of your client. They may want the file in a different format. Therefore, you need to first talk to the bank and get a sample file in which they need the format.
You can create the DME structure by using transaction code DMEE - Tree Type is PAYM.
You can create the DME structure as a flat file or XML file based on the requirement of your client (bank).
You can also copy the standard structure to Z structure and modify it according to your requirements.
Please also make sure that you have made settings in OBPM1, OBPM2, OBPM3 and OBPM4 (More importantly you should maintain the path where it needs to be downloaded)
Complete your FBZP settings - Importantly payment methods in country, select your DME structure.
Take help of basis consultant in order to create the directories. You can see the directories in AL11.
If there are no directory path maintained in OBPM4, then the file gets saved to temporary directory in AL11.
If you are using DME structure, then forget the classic payment medium.
1. First ask the bank for the format, file type etc. Ask bank for any document available.
2. The see for that country if SAP has provided any standard DME structure (Transaction Code DMEE - Tree Type PAYM)
3. If this is not sufficient, then copy the standard DME strcutre and modify it accordingly to your requirement.
4. Assign this DME structure in FBZP - Payment Methods in country. * Use payment medium workbench
5. Check with your basis whether any secured folders are created in AL11 (where the output file needs to get generated) - If not ask them to create.
6.Check your settings in OBPM1 / OBPM2 / OBPM3 / OBPM4 - (In OBPM4 make sure you have given the secured folder path and file name for your variant)
7. Run F110 - Check you have maintained your variant details properly for program RFFOAVIS_FPAYM
If you maintain all these steps correct, hope your DME file should get generated.

Void multiple PY checks not through off cycle work bench

Hello,
We had a scenario where we had to void nearly 60 regular PY checks in our previous period. The postings to FI did not happen yet. We went to off cycle work bench and voided 60 checks one after the other.
Is there any quicker way to void multiple PY checks (If we know the check number to void). What if we run into a scenario where we need to void few hundreds.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Oracle Work Bench - MS SQL to Oracle

I am using oracle work bench for migrating MS SQL database to Oracle 8i. When i am trying to migrate the Stored procedures with cursors, i am get expections. I am able to migrate tables and SPs (which don't have any cursors in it). I will cite an example for better understanding. Assuming the following is SP in MS SQL

The Workbench uses an underlying repository, so all the choices you make are saved. However the primary usage of the tool, is one off migration, not continous migration. If you want to rerun multiple times, you should probably generate the offline schema and data migration scripts.

Substitution Variables Not Working in Web Analysis

<p>Our current month /current year (CMCY)substitution variables donot work in Web Analysis. The variables are set up properlyon the Essbase server and work fine with the excel add-in. The prior month / current year (PMCY)sub variable does workin Web Analysis. Does anyone know why web analysis is hit ormiss with sub variables?</p>

Changes made to the database are not being affected in Toplink work bench..

Hi,
Im recently encountering the following problem with Toplink mapping work bench.
The cchanges are not visible when I make any changes to the underlying database tables and retrieve that tables into mapping work bench .
The retrived table information still contains old information and the new fields added are not seen and the old fields which were deleted are not deleted.
Is there any cache associated with TOplink..if so How can I flush that cache so that i always end up with the latest DDL s in my Toplink

You need to explicitly refresh the tables. In the Mapping Workbench, select or multi-select the tables you'd like to refresh, right click on them and choose "refresh".
IF you are doing that, and not seeing the changes, then the most likely issue is that you are connecting to a different database and/or using a different JDBC login.

POET vs GL Account in AP Invoice Work Bench

Dear Members,
We are on 11.5.10 version of e-business suite.
If a User enters an Invoice manually through AP Invoice Work Bench form, he has two methods to enter a GL string at the distribution level.
There are two cases here :
1. when we go to the distributions form and enter a POET with Account field blank and when we save , then auto accounting automatically derives a GL string(Account).
2. We can also enter GL String manually in the distributions, then auto accounting does not come in to picture since user already entered a GL string.(Assumption is that POET is not entered).
My question is there any flag at the distribution level which says about whether a GL string is entered manually or its derived from POET combination.

Only on a Service type invoice would you be able to select a GL at the transaction level.
In your case if you want to see the values going to different GL's this has to be addressed through GL determination. If you are using Item Groups bases GL then the items has to be segregated by item group. If this is more of a virtual segragation then just for reporting purposes you could use Projects

Asset Work Bench in Rel 11

Does any one know what code gets executed and what packages get called by the Asset WorkBench form when a standard transfer (for a transaction that
will dynamically generate a CCID) is performed. This is for Rel 11 Financials.
My client wants to customise Asset Work Bench form.

Installation of Oracle Work Bench

We are migrating sybase database to Oracle database. We are just in hang state to know if we should install oracle work bench on sybase database server or oracle database server and then go ahead with the migration. Also there any specifc way Oracle recommedns to install Oracle work bench on the same box when Oracle database resides.
It is a sunsolaris unix server.

It is not necessary to have the migration workbench on the same machine as your source server [in your case the sybase server] or the destination server [oracle].
All you must have is proper plugin.jar in the plugins directory, its dns connection so that its connection to the source server is safe and the should have the system previliges on the oracle database.
