Difference ssh version 1and version 2

Hi,Can anyone say what is the difference ssh version 1and version 2

SSH protocol, version 2
SSH protocol, version 1
Separate transport, authentication, and connection protocols
One monolithic protocol
Strong cryptographic integrity check
Weak CRC-32 integrity check; admits an insertion attack in conjunction with some bulk ciphers.
Supports password changing
N/A
Any number of session channels per connection (including none)
Exactly one session channel per connection (requires issuing a remote command even when you don't want one)
Full negotiation of modular cryptographic and compression algorithms, including bulk encryption, MAC, and public-key
Negotiates only the bulk cipher; all others are fixed
Encryption, MAC, and compression are negotiated separately for each direction, with independent keys
The same algorithms and keys are used in both directions (although RC4 uses separate keys, since the algorithm's design demands that keys not be reused)
Extensible algorithm/protocol naming scheme allows local extensions while preserving interoperability
Fixed encoding precludes interoperable additions
User authentication methods:
publickey (DSA, RSA*, OpenPGP)
hostbased
password
(Rhosts dropped due to insecurity)
Supports a wider variety:
public-key (RSA only)
RhostsRSA
password
Rhosts (rsh-style)
TIS
Kerberos
Use of Diffie-Hellman key agreement removes the need for a server key
Server key used for forward secrecy on the session key
Supports public-key certificates
N/A
User authentication exchange is more flexible, and allows requiring multiple forms of authentication for access.
Allows for exactly one form of authentication per session.
hostbased authentication is in principle independent of client network address, and so can work with proxying, mobile clients, etc. (though this is not currently implemented).
RhostsRSA authentication is effectively tied to the client host address, limiting its usefulness.
periodic replacement of session keys
N/A

  • Ssh version

I get the following output when I type in ssh -V on the console...I am using Solaris 9.
SSH Version Sun_SSH_1.0, protocol versions 1.5/2.0.
Does this mean tht the ssh version is ssh protocol v 2.

It means that your SSH version is "Suns SSH 1.0". However Suns SSH is just a certain version of OpenSSH (can't remember which one) with a new name.
The SSH in question supports the SSH protocols 1.5 and 2.0.
Currently there are three SSH protocols that i know of, the first one was 1 (highly insecure), followed by 1.5 (not to secure either) and lastly 2.0 (fairly secure unless you got one with a security bug in :-)

  • CiscoWorks2k RME3.5 IDU 9.0 ssh version 2 ???

Does anyone know when ssh v2 will be supported or I missed something?
It seems like I can manage my devices with telnet or ssh v1. Having been able to do much with all of my ssh v2 devices.

I heard that support for SSH version 2 will be added in the next release of CiscoWorks, may be in 1st quarter of 2005.

  • Obscure SSH Version

On a recent security audit we we hit because our Cisco devices revealed their SSH version.
Is there any way to fix that?

I don't believe so. We've had auditors complain about the version (v1 vs v2), but never about it showing the version.

  • SSH version in the CUCM

    Hi,
I have an issue between my Iomega/EMC NAS and the DRS of my CUCMs.
    It's OK with a 8.6 CUCM and NOK with 7.1.3 and 8.0.3.
I would like to know the SSH version in SFTP protocol used by the DRS service for the three version.
    Thank you for your help.
    BR

    Michael,
I had the same question, so this is very helpful and I appreciate it.
    Emmanuel,
I have a current issue with SFTP to a NAS and am curious if you were able to resolve. My storage engineers were also concerned about SSH version compatibility.

  • SSH Version Supported by Access Points

    Hi,
I'm hoping this is an easy question...so apologies if it appears facile, but I can't find a definitive answer in any Cisco docs I've looked through.
When access points are used with a WLC, its possible to allow the access points to accept SSH connections (Under the advanced tab of the AP config).
My question is this: which version of SSH will be used when SSH sessions are created to the AP? (SSH v2?)
All of the data sheets etc. talk about SSH support, but give now version details.
    Thanks in advance.
    Nigel.

    Hi Nigel,
Scott is right (as usual )
Just to confirm, I accessed a CAPWAP AP and looked at the #sh derived-config and this was the only SSH output shown, with SSH enabled on the AP:
    ip ssh version 2
So, it looks like only SSH2 is allowed. Just to let you know the code ver was 7.0.116.0

  • Difference between version

    Hello
I would like know difference between version 4.6 & 4.7 and when do the version was released,

    Hi,
SAP 4.7 has all the features such as development workbench, transport management system, monitoring, versioning and business object repository of already existing SAP 4.6C.
Web Application Server6.20 of 4.7 includes all the features of SAP Basis of SAP 4.6C.
    Differences:
SAP 4.7 has a more structured approach as compared to SAP 4.6C from a technical perspective. It is based on mySAP.com technology, which is actually the Web Application Server 6.2C. This not only includes SAP Basis Technologies with their latest advancements but also the new features of SAP Web AS 6.20.
SAP 4.7 is more structured even from a functional perspective as this version has been developed after functional and infrastructure developments of earlier SAP R/3 4.6C.
In SAP 4.7 the functional and infrastructure developments are made on separate levels. The functional developments are made in the Enterprise Extensions and infrastructure developments are made in the Enterprise Core unlike SAP 4.6C in which both the developments take place within the systems.
SAP in its Web AS has additional enhancements in the form of package concept, global parameterization with business configuration sets, Unicode compliance and accessibility that are not present in 4.6C.
SAP 4.7 Core supports the above-mentioned enhancements that SAP 4.6C does not.
SAP 4.7 unlike 4.6C has Enterprise Extensions that can be separately deployed and have their own releases.
    Chek these out

  • Difference between versions

    hi ,
I want to know the difference between versions of 5.0 and ECC 6.0 .any information is rewarded.

    Hi,
Please check these information from other thread.
ECC 5.0 is based on WAS 6.40 and ECC 6.0 is based on WAS 7.00.
From functional point of view there are some minor differences, as the core functionalities are not changed a lot. However there is Industrial Solutions intergarated to ECC 6.0 by default.
From ABAP point of view you have the following new elements/components:
    - New ABAP editor /meanwhile it's available via downport for lower releases as well/
    - ABAP WebDynpro
    - Enhancement framework
    - Regular experssion support
Also check this link for functionality differences.

  • What is the difference between version 4.7EE and ECC 5.0

    DEAR EXPERTS
what is the difference between version 4.7EE and ECC 5.0?WHAT ARE THE ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONALTIES IN
    ECC 5.0?

    hi,
Diff between 4.7 and ECC 5.0:
    1. 4.7 is on R/3 platform, while ECC 5.0 is on mySAP ERP 2004
    2. ECC 5.0 is having ESA(enterprise Serviceoriented Architecture)
3.ECC 5.0 is web enabled with Netweaver technology.
mySAP ERP is the "newer" ERP with numbering conventions like ECC (which stands for ERP Central Component) 5 or 6
mySAP (aka mySAP.com) Business Suite contains Solutions like CRM, SCM etc. The important thing to note here is that this contains mySAP ERP, the one above
mySAP All-in-One Solution is designed for smaller companies (the ad that says SAP is not just for large companies but for great companies where the above mentioned functionality is scaled down and is made to run on one database on a PC type of setup as opposed to the full blown architectures on which SAP traditionally set to run

  • Difference Between version 8 and cs3/4 ?

Hi I have dreamweaver 8 and I use it for all my tasks related to website development.
I just wanted to know if there is any significant difference between version 8 and cs3/4 ?
    Suggestions appreciated.

I don't think any of those you have listed are major additions to my own personal workflow in my opinion David.
Nice add-ons but it's not like 'I really need this'.
I'd like a better computer each and every year but I can still do all I need with the one I have. Of course you never want to go back once you upgrade but its not as if you can't do what is needed with an older version.
Improved css rendering? I struggle to find an improvement apart from maybe overflow:hidden; I guess it may also be down to the way you write the css. I've never really struggled with css rendering from version MX onwards, others have.
Built in css layouts? I wouldn't touch those with a barge pole personally. They can remain in the domain of the inexperienced and when they come to alter them they are so complicated they won't have a clue where to start.
Spry widgets? Again overcomplicated and used mainly by inexperienced users.
Live view/live code? Personally have no use for it.
None of those you listed would effect my workflow. But as I said it's best to download a trial and take it for a spin.
DW in my opinion doesn't have much more in the way of development to offer apart from incorporating elements which are non-essential. Its a bit like the progress of all their software; they struggle with each new release to find anything wortwhile to include.
