  • Differences between ABAP debugger of 4.7 and ECC 6.0

    Hey guys,
I would really appreaciate any statements/documents that can help me determine the differences of abap debugger between these 2 versions.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Debugger in R6.1
    Modification 1
    Displaying program attributes
If you choose Goto → Further Information → Program Attributes then the system will display the attributes fixed point arithmetic, system program, and Unicode check.
    Modification 2
    Displaying data references
If you double-click a data reference in the Field Name column then the subsequent screen will contain technical information about that reference. A double click in the Field Contentcolumn will display the content of the data reference. The object referred to will be displayed, if you doubleclick the data reference dref->*in the Field Name column.
    Modification 3
Special display of deep data objects
To display the headers of strings, internal tables, data references, and object references, you must prefix them with an asterisk. For example, to display the header of the internal table itab in hexadecimal form, you must enter *itab in the Field Namecolumn. In the case of tables without headers the field content only contains zeroes.
If you prefix the data object name with an ampersand, the relevant reference to the string, internal table, data reference, or object reference is displayed in hexadecimal form. For example, specifying &str will display the reference to the string str.
    Modification 4
    Setting breakpoints in methods
By choosing Breakpoint → Breakpoint at → Method you can set a breakpoint for a method.
    Modification 5
    Support for class based-exceptions
The following functions are available if an exception occurs:
If the INTO ref addition is missing from the CATCHstatement, you can create an exception object in the Debugger under Settings.
If you choose the Display Exception Objecticon, the system will display the attributes and interfaces of the exception class with their contents in the subsequent screen.
If you choose Statement That Caused the Exception the system goes to the line in the source code in which the exception was caused. The statement that caused the exception is explicitly indicated in the source code.
    Modification 6
Debugging mode for Business Server Pages with ABAP scripting
Business Server Pages (BSP) can now be run in debugging mode. It is also possible to display and set breakpoints. Business Server Pages can be displayed in the Object Navigator, if you select an appropriate application by choosing BSP Applications.
    Modification 7
Copying breakpoints from HTTP and update sessions
If you call an HTTP or update session from a logical unit of work (LUW) then a new work process will be started for this session. Any breakpoints that were set in this calling logical unit of work are carried over to the new sessions and can be displayed by choosing Breakpoints. For example, if you call the update module funcusing CALL FUNCTION func IN UPDATE TASK, then the new work process will be displayed in a new window, provided you selected Update Debugging under Settingsin debugging mode. Here you can process all the breakpoints that were set in the calling logical unit of work.
    Modification 8
Displaying instructions for the database interface
You can now check the last statements sent to the database. In order to do so, choose Goto → System → System Areasafter the Debugger has been started and enter Area = OSQL in the input field.
    Modification 9
Forward and backward navigation in the source text
If you choose Debugging → Goto Statement, then the system will go to that line in which the cursor is positioned. This allows simple forward and backward navigation within the displayed source code.
    Modification 10
    Displaying memory consumption
If you choose Settings → Memory Display On/Off, the system displays the memory consumption for objects, tables, references, or individual fields. In so doing, it differentiates between allocated and referenced memory and also displays the memory consumption actually used for every data object.
To see a hit list of the 25 data objects with the highest memory consumption choose Goto → System → System Areas. The following values can be entered in the Areafield:
ITAB-TOP25 for the display of internal tables
OBJ-TOP25 for the display of objects
REF-TOP25 for the display of references
ALL-TOP25 for the display of all data objects
    Modification 11
    Displaying Unicode fragment view
If you choose Goto → Display Data Object → System Information, the system displays the Unicode fragment view. In this view structures, internal tables, strings, data references, and objects are broken down into alignment gaps, byte areas and chracter-type areas and all other types - such as P, I, F, strings, references or internal tables.
The system groups adjacent, character-type components - with the exception of strings - only if there are no alignment gaps between these components. In so doing, it observes all alignment requirements. In the same way, adjacent byte-type components are also grouped together.
    reward appropraite points.

    Mansi.

    Short Difference between R/3 4.7, ECC5 & ECC6 !!!!!
    1. SAP NetWeaver is SAP's technology platform. It has all of SAP's
technology in it. It is used to build and run SAP Applications and customer
applications (Application server, data warehouse, portal, coding, messaging,
etc). You can find more information on the SAP NetWeaver page on the SAP
Service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com/netweaver). Of course they is
also in on the SAP NetWeaver page in SDN.
    2. ABAP is part of SAP NetWeaver. BW is part of SAP NetWeaver (as of
    the 3.5release).
    3. Prior to SAP NetWeaver, BW was a seperate product. It is shipped as part
of SAP NetWeaver since the SAP NetWeaver '04 release (SAP NetWeaver BI 3.5).
    4. SAP ECC is part of the SAP ERP application (actually it is the minimal
installation of SAP ERP). SAP ERP runs on SAP NetWeaver. So when you get SAP
    ERP you get SAP NetWeaver.
    - SAP ECC 5.0 is part of SAP ERP 2004 [which runs on SAP NetWeaver '04]
    - SAP ECC 6.0 is part of SAP ERP 6.0 (2005) [which runs on SAP
    NetWeaver 7.0(2004s)]
    5. SAP NetWeaver is delivered with SAP ERP so ABAP and the functional
modules are include in SAP ERP.
    6. With SAP ERP (SAP ECC) you have a choice of activating BI within the SAP
ERP system or deploying in a seperate system. This is information is in the
SAP ERP master guides which can be found at
    http://service.sap.com/instguides.
For SAP ERP 6.0 (ECC 6.0) it will the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 version of BI.

The only difference between ECC5 and ECC6 is that additional components like mySAPCRM, mySAPPLM, mySAPSCM, mySAPSRM are added in ECC6.0. HR was already a part of ECC5.0.

  • Difference between using app server connection pooling and using the driver

What is the difference between using app server connection pooling and using the driver supported connection pooling?

maybe the performance of App server pool is better than the JDBC pool,
for you don't know wether the implementation of the JDBC interface is good or bad.

  • What the difference between u0093Valuate GL Account Open Itemsu0094 and u0093Valuate G/

    hi gurus
What the difference between “Valuate GL Account Open Items” and “Valuate G/L Account Balances”?
We found out that when we perform valuate GL account Open items there will be reversal done at the same time whereas when we perform Valuate G/L Account Balances there is NO reversal posting even though we hv entered the reversal posting date and Period.
Pls advise which one we should perform?

“Valuate GL Account Open Items” are for open item managed accounts including vendor/customer accounts. The valuation is performed for each (open) line items on key date specified.
"“Valuate GL Balance" is for account NOT managed on Open Item basis but managed in foreign currency. The period balance of key date in foreign currency is valuated. Reversal document can be created by selecting 'Reverse postings' in "Postings" tab.

  • Difference between the design of clusters PCLx and others like RFBLG etc .

There are a few nagging questions which I was not able to find in the forum hence i have to post a new question.
I am a little confused about the difference between the different clusters .
If i start with RFBLG i.e. the cluster for BSEG BSEC etc ,I can see that the tables which are part of this cluster
can be viewed through different methods like
    1) whr usd list for RFBLG
    2) dd02l table and give the required parameters there
now when I compare this with another so-called cluster PCL1 if find that PCL1 is not recognized as  a cluster
and also I am not able to see the same in dd02l table when i give PCL1 and the tabtype as cluster which I was able to see
for the RFBLG ,there are other tables similar to RFBLG .
    1) SO what is the difference between the RFBLG type of clusters and the PCLx type of cluster
    2) are pclx and rfblg..type of clusters same ?
    3) why does PCL1 shows that it is a transparent table ? where as rfblg shows in a diff way in se11
    4) i know we access data from PCL1 using import and export stmts ,DO OR CAN WE DO THE SAME FOR RFBLG
    5) I found that each and evry cluster table had diff fields ,this was kinda surprising for me as I had been thinking
that all cluster tables need to follow a certain rule ,SO WHO DECIDES THE FIELDS OF A TABLE CLUSTER ?
    6) PCL1 has the index button enabled ,which again I think is not according to the cluster table rules?how?
    7) I understand that we can save data in form of internal tables in the PCL1 cluster ,can we do the same in RFBLG ?
    8) Can I think on lines that PCL1 and RFBLG type of cluster are two totally different types of data dictionary objects
and the usage and implementation of both of them is different and that the design and the BASE of both of such objects
    is different .
I know this is a long list but I am sure that answers to these questions would really require some one who has really really work hard and invested a lot of time in understanding the dictionary system.I am awaiting a few answers ,few hints and a healthy discussion till we get them .
    Thanks ...

    Hello,
    1/
BSEG is a typical Cluster Table.
This means that the physical table BSEG does NOT exist in the database, physical data for BSEG is stored in the database (table) cluster RFBLG.
In ABAP however you can perform selects on BSEG (with all fields from the SAP repository structure, see SE11 on BSEG), during execution the SAP database layer will translate these statements to physical selects in the RFBLG database table, so in ABAP this is transparant.
    More info :
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cf/21f083446011d189700000e8322d00/content.htm|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/cf/21f083446011d189700000e8322d00/content.htm]
    2/
PCL1, PCL2, ... are normal SAP transparent tables, however in HR they are often called HR cluster table.
Transparent tables are SAP objects where there is also a database table with the same name that contains the physical data.
However the PCL tables are somewhat different from normal transparent tables (data is compressed, external programs can not interpret the data, ...).
This means that in ABAP you can not use simple SQL statements to access data in PCL tables (because of compressed format).
In stead statements like EXPORT TO DATABASE and IMPORT FROM DATABASE need to be used.

  • What is the difference between credit memo in invoice year and in next year

    Hi!
I'm new here.I'm study SAP ERP.I don't know what is the difference between credit memo in invoice year and credit memo in next year (asset accounting). Can you show and give me an example, please!
    Thanks and best regards!
Edited by: dinhtuan on Jun 28, 2010 3:10 PM

    Hi,
Maybe have a look at the SAP Help for further information (http://help.sap.com) : e.g. 'Posting Credit Memos Integrated with Vendor'  or 'Posting a Credit Memo Offset Against a Clearing Account'
Transaction type 105 for credit memo on current acquisition made in the current year, posting key 75. Or transaction type 160 for credit memo on acquisitions from prior years. posting key 75.
Note: determine if the asset was acquired in the current fiscal year or in a closed fiscal year (Display asset values).
If the asset was acquired in a fiscal year that is now closed, correct the past depreciation using a write-up (in that case check out and refer to Posting Write-Ups).
    I hope this helps.
    Kind regards,
    Brigitte
