  • Difference between BW7.0 and BI7.3

    Hi all,
1.Whats is the difference between bw 7.0 and BI 7.3?
    2. we are using BI 7.3 , have to know that is there any limitations of using BI 7.3 . We are extracting the data from multiprovider to Open hub Destination? Is there any disadvantage ?
    Please gudie me on this...

    Hi,
Some of the features of 7.3:
Major Step on enterprise Data warehousing scalability and flexibility
    BW accelerator: SAddditional performance
Integration improvements with SAP Business Objects Data Services.
    Open Hub Services:
    1) Info spoke functions have been removed the infospoke and open hub monitor functions previously located under Tools-Open hub services. These functions are now obsolete due to the introduction of open hub destination.
    2) One can now extract data in ASCII and XML when using a file as a destination. You can now select either the default setting or direct input as the codepage setting.
3)It is no longer possible to create new Infospokes. One can still use, display and change or delete existing Infospokes. It is recommended switching to the new Open hub destination concept. With the data transfer process and transformation, the Open hub destinationprovides all of the functions offered by Infospokes and thus replace the Infospoke concept.

  • Difference between workbench request and customizing request in transport

    Hi Experts,
I am new to SAP BI7 work. i am having basic doubt in Transort request creations
ususally we create  the requests to transport the objects from Development  system to further systems.
can anyone please clarify me,  what is the main defference between the Workbench request and Customizing request.
    Thanks and Regards
    Mrudula

    Hi ,
The Transport Organiser maintains Change Requests. These requests record the changes made to the repository and customizing objects.Based on that objects changed they are
    1)WorkBench Request & 2) Customizing Request.
Workbench Requests are those that involve changes to cross-client Customising and Repository Objects. The objects are independent of the client.Hence the requests are used for transferring and transporting changed Repository objects and changed system settings from cross-client tables.
Customizing Requests involve changes recorded to client-specific Customizing objects .These client specific requests are used for copying and transporting changed system settings from client-specific tables.

  • BW360 Course Difference between BW 3.5 and BI 7.0

I am looking for some training regarding the system performance and Process Chain, which should be well covered in the BW360. However, the course schedule at the moment is only for BI 7.0 and I was told by the SAP Education representative that it may not be scheduled for BW 3.5 until the second half of the year, which is too late for us.
So I wonder if it's appropriate for me to go to BW360 for BI 7.0 even
though we are using 3.5 now. Are there much differences between those two
versions from perspectives covered by the course?

Yes - there are better performance in BI 7.0 but regarding process chain - I don't think it's much. If your main purposes is process chain, I think you can go ahead with BI 7.0 course.  I would suggest you to prepare at home beofre taking the course so that you can get the maximum out of it.
You are already using BW 3.5 and check what are the new staffs added in BI7.0 and i think you can guess a bit: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/e3/e60138fede083de10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm

Some features of BI 7 are

    2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
    3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
    4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
    5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
    6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.

  • BPC70 NW: Differences between SP00 and SP01

    Dear all,
We'd like to install BPC NW70.
At the moment SP01 is available.
At help.sap.com I try to find info on this but so far not found.
Q: Does anybody know where to find help-info on BPC70 (Netweaver version)?
For SP01 you also need EhP1 for BI7.0.
Q: What are the main dfifferneces between SP00 and SP01.
    Kind regards, Harjan

Into SMP (service marke place) you can find all the information about each release and also you can find what is new comparing with previous version.
Ehp1 for Netweaver is required for installion SAP BPC 7.0 NW. No differences between the software requirements of SP00 and SP01

  • Difference between Delta "Change Log" and "Active Table (Without Archive)"?

In BI7.0 environment, we perform our Delta loads (the DTP settings under the Extraction tab, there is a field called Extraction Mode and it's value is selected as "Delta") every day among all our DSOs.
There is a section called "Delta Init. Extraction From..." under the same tab in DTP, there are four radio buttons:
    Active Table (With Archive)
    Active Table (Without Archive)
    Archive (Full Extraction Only)
    Change Log
Then what is the difference between "Change Log" and "Active Table (Without Archive)" if both Extraction Mode is "Delta" for two Delta loads?
    Thanks!

    Hi ,
The new options SP16 has are:(Chk Note 1096771)
    Active Table (with Archive)
The data is read from the active table and from the archive or from a near-line storage if one exists. You can choose this option even if there is no active data archiving process yet for the DataStore object.
    Active Table (Without Archive)
The data is only read from the active table. If there is data in the archive or in a near-line storage at the time of extraction, this data is not extracted.
    Archive (Only Full Extraction)
The data is only read from the archive or from a near-line storage. Data is not extracted from the active table.
    Change Log
The data is read from the change log of the DataStore object.
Delta will always be picked from change log table.Only during intialization you can choose between getting data from change log or active table. If you are doing the load first time and are initializzing delta in subsequent data targets, then pulling data from active table will get lesse volume of data then it would have got from change log table....All subsequent deltas will be picked up from the change log.  And when we need to reload data into the data target (which would be a full load) - we use active table.
From change log : you can take below ones as targets
    1) Cube 2) DSO with Addition as the update for the Keyfigures
From Active table: you can take below ones as targets
    1) Cube ,if and only if, the records are never changes in the source once after creation
    2) DSO with Addition as the update for the Keyfigures ,if and only if, the records are never changes in the source once after creation
    3) DSO with Overwrite as the update for the Keyfigures ( incase deletions is not happening in the source system)
