    Hi,
    Check this document:
    http://metalink.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=112591.1
Apart from the features that are present in E.E. and not in S.E., there is little difference (except the license price...).
Note that some seperately purchased options are only available with E.E., not S.E. (e.g. Partitioning, Enterprise Manager Packs).

Perhaps if you asked about a specific error instead of a vague question about the differences between two obsolete editions of Oracle, you would have received a response more to your liking.

    Hi,
I think you are talking about Database versions, so this is not the right forum since this is Forms's forum.

  • Difference between Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition for Oracle RAC

    Hi,
In our current setup we have RAC on standard edition and client is now planning to go for Enterprise Edition but not yet decide because of cost.
Is there any difference between Grid Infrastructure 11gR3 Enterprise edition and Standard Edition ?
They told me to first install Enterprise Edition and then will move to Standard Edition if they can't get the EE license so in that case do i have to re-install Grid infrastructure for standard edition?

There is no "Grid Infrastructure 11gR3 Enterprise edition and Standard Edition", is only Grid Infrastructure 11gR2.
About Oracle Clusterware (Grid Infrastructure) licensing.
At least one of the servers in the cluster is licensed for Oracle Database (SE1, SE, or EE)
A cluster is defined to include all the machines that share the same Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) and Voting Disk.

    About Database licensing.
    http://www.oracle.com/us/products/database/enterprise-edition/comparisons/index.html
Note : Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC), is an option to Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition and included with Oracle Database 11g Standard Edition (on clusters with a maximum of 4 sockets).
If you move to Oracle EE you must purchase a separate licence to use RAC option
    About Installation:
Nothing changes on your current setup of Grid Infrastructure 11.2
Just install a new fresh installation of Oracle Database (On current clusterware) chosing E.E during Install. Configure the database/services to start from this new ORACLE HOME. Nothing change on Database all previous backup and features used still unchanged. Using this new Oracle Home new features are enabled to be used by your databases.

  • Differences between ias editions

    Hi,
we are contemplating moving our 9i ias to 10g.
we are running j2ee applications, primarily based on servlets and we need forms services / reports services.
my question is: will we be able to run our j2ee app on the ias forms service edition?
the opposit is not possible i guess.
i've tried some pilot installations of our j2ee apps on the forms service edition and they seem to run. but are there any problems i haven't discovered.
basically what are the differences between the java and the forms service edition apart from the one being able to run forms and the other unable.
    br
    kim gabrielsen

    Hello 18332,
from a technical point of view there should be no problems to run your j2ee application in the forms edition. The Java Edition and the Forms Edition using the same OC4J (J2EE container). But this isn't allowed due to Oracle licensing agreement. If you want to run your J2EE applications, Forms and you only licensed the Forms edition then you have to license at least the Java Edition additionally. If you licensed the Enterprise Edition then you can run Forms and J2EE together.

  • Difference between Productive edition and Developer edition

    Hi,
what is the difference between SAP NW CE 7.1 installed in Developer edition and Productive Edition.
1)If we are planning for a three system landscape like SAP ERP instances with dev-qas and prd which edition
should we be going ahead with ?
    2) In productive edition, can't we install sap nw developer studio like we can do in developer edition.
    3) In a 3 tier landscape can we have a mix of editions ie DEV with developer edition and PRD in production edition..
    Please reply.
    Regards,
    Sandeep

    Hi,
The difference is mainly that the productive edition is compliant to the usual SAP system layout(sapmnt/saploc shares, users, groups, etc.) while in the development edition these are skipped. From the functional perspective they should be identical.
In addition I AFAIK 32 bit windows is generally not supported for production (because of memory management issues) while 64-bit is not supported for development (IDE).
    On your questions:
    1) I guess development for developers, production for the rest.
    2) I don't think the dev studio is supported on 64-bit.
    3) No problem here. However if you're about to need system copy (for example to clone productive system data into dev/qa environment) it will not work for development edition. Have this in mind when you plan your landscape.
    Hope this helps !
    Best regards, dido

  • Difference between Standard Edition and EE

Can anyone tell me the difference in terms of functionality between the Standard and Enterprise version of Oracle 8i.
    Thanks

Standard Edition(SE) is the term used for Core Java. It's a wide term which covers all the basic topics from Classes, Objects, Interfaces, Packages to Threads, Applets, IO.
    Find out here
    [http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/]
Enterprise Edition(EE) is a wide term consisting Jsp, Servlets, Ejb and lot more.
EE deals with client- server based distributed applications.
    you can find out here
    [http://java.sun.com/javaee/5/docs/tutorial/doc/ ]
First master SE then go for EE.
    GoodLuck.

  • Recovery differences between standard edition and enterprise edition/datalo

Disaster recovery in Enterprise = automated
Disaster recovery in Standard = manual (or use dbVisit product)
Recovery time in Enterprise = effectively no time at all.
Recovery time in Standard = how well, fast and accurately do you type ... especailly archivelog file names from your backup
Data loss in Enterprise = can be configured to 0
Data loss in Standard = depends on your skill and on what broke
Support cost saving ... disaster recovery is part of the enterprise license and does not officially exist as part of standard. Therefore (savings = (x - null))
Do you include the DBA and end user time in the true support calculation, or are you simply stopping the calculation at 'what we pay Oracle'? The trade off is in "is it supported by Oracle or is it supported by you"
Predicted next part of discussion starts with "yes sure, but ..."

  • Difference between internal and external drive on Airport extreme

I have one of the original Airport Extremes and I'm wondering if the new software that comes with the new Airport (Time Capsule) will allow me to use it with an external drive for Time Machine. I know it currently doesn't work as currently configured, but I would think it would be a trivial matter to make it work, How about it Apple?

Presumably the only software which will ship with Time Capsule is "AirPort Utility" to configure Time Capsule.
Speculation on whether any version of Time Capsule's firmware will be compatible with the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) is forbidden in this discussion area.
No one here knows and you could guess yourself to death. On one hand you would think Time Capsule is so similar to the square AEBS that it wouldn't be a problem. On the other hand even though the features are very similar, the square AEBS's firmware is not usable on the round AEBS.

  • Difference between editions

    hi all,
what are the main difference between enterprise edition, personal edition and standard editions
    of the database.

In Standard edition/personal edition some options are disabled like dataguard, online rebuild indexex/online redifination, only basic replication with MVEIWS, & so on..

  • Performance difference between After effects and Premiere Pro

    Hi,
I'm sure this question has come up before and i've found lots of threads talking about After effects performance so I apologise if this is a repeat, i'm very new to Premiere/AE moving from FCP.
Why is it that performance in Premiere Pro is excellent with real time video playback even when applying effects where if I import that same clip into After Effects I get 15fps on a 720p 50fps clip. Am I missing something, a preference maybe or should I expect this kind of performance without completing a RAM preview first.
As a note, I'm testing this on a 2012 Macbook Air as I'm planning on doing simple cuts and adjustments on the road.

    Am I missing something,
Yes. The difference between an edit suite and a compositing program. Seriously, simply accept things as they are and don't try to apply principles from one program to the other when they are based on completely different workflow paradigms which in turn affect the underlying tech stuff.

  • Behaviour's difference between Time Capsule and Airport Extreme + Ext HDD ?

    Hello !
I would like to know if there is any behaviour's difference between a Time Capsule and an Airport Extreme base station + External HDD ? For instance, once Time Machine configured, have I to mount manually the drive connected to the Airport Extreme to trigger the backup ? Or once my wifi is up, TIme Machine detects the Airport Extreme base station, the hard disk, and triggers the backup ?
    Regards,
    Mr Lejeune

Theoretically there is no difference between the two. In reality there are two differences. First, Apple does not officially support Time Machine backups on a drive connected to the AEBS. If you run into technical difficulties you'll get no help from AppleCare techs nor from an Apple genius. Second, my experience suggests that it is a fragile backup backup system. My wife is using a TC at work whilst I have a base station and hard drive connected to it at home. Both of us have MacBooks, have the same software, and have the same basic habits. In a three month period I experienced frequent stalled backups - the last one fatal. After numerous attempts to get the backup going again I was forced to format the drive and start over. When I started over, having verified that the backup was working again, I abandoned TM and began backing up wirelessly using ChronoSync. My wife had fewer stalled backups (not none, but fewer) and thus far, nearly a year later, she has never had to format and start over.
In theory, wireless backup with TM is a great idea but its execution presently leave something to be desired. Frankly, while I am using TM to backup to a tethered hard drive and I'm beginning to trust it despite being a version 1 product, I wouldn't rely on TC and TM as my sole backup scheme.
