  • Technical difference between ECC5.0 and ECC6.0

    Hi everyone,
    Can anybody tell me whats is the Technical difference between ECC5.0 and ECC6.0.
    I am doing upgrade from ECC5.0 to ECC6.0 in Retail.
    Regards,
    Divya

    Dear Divya,
    When it is a technical upgrade from a lower version to ECC6.0, many objects like includes, Function modules, reports, OSS notes, DDIC objects, BDC/Print programs, SAP scripts, screens will get affected due to the upgradation. So we need to check with all these objects.
    u2022 We will encounter short dumps while executing certain programs. This may be due to the usage of obsolete function modules or Unicode errors.
    u2022 The BDCs in the upgraded version will become defective as many of its screen field names will be changed during version change.
    u2022 Program texts of many programs will be lost. They have to be restored.
    u2022 In case of tables, enhancement category has to be provided.
    u2022 There is a possibility of losing the variants during upgradation. So care should be taken to retain them before upgradation.
    u2022 ECC6.0 is case sensitive, so many of the interface programs will fail to transfer (FTP) files between systems. These objects have to be changed so that the commands passed to the external system be UPPERCASE.
    So a developer should be aware of the following:
    u2022Unicode programming is followed in ECC6.0. So we need to be aware of it to rectify certain Unicode errors which are likely to occur.
    u2022You have to run the transactions SPAU & SPDD to check for list of standard & custom objects that needs modification in the upgraded version.
    Check the below link to find more details on usage of SPAU & SPDD transactions
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/60/d6ba7bceda11d1953a0000e82de14a/content.htm
    u2022Should be aware of the objects that have become obsolete in ECC6.0. They have to be replaced by appropriate ones.For eg.:
    --> The WS_* function modules have been replaced by GUI_* FMs in ECC6.0 as WS_* FMs have become obsolete from 4.7
    -->Tables like TVARV & TTREX have been replaced by TVARVC & TTREXN respectively in ECC6.0.
    u2022In case of tables, we need to specify the Enhancement category.
    u2022Due to upgradation, we will lose out some variants. So we should take a back-up before proceeding with the upgradation.
    u2022In case of BDC programs, some field names will be changed. So they have to be named appropriately.

    Hi Experts,
    What are the differences between ECC5.0 and 6.0 new GL functionality.
    If we want to implement IFRS, I think New GL functionality is very helpful, but why sap is recommending only for ECC6.0 new GL functionality, Eventhough this functionality is available in ECC5.0.

  • Diff between R/3 ECC5 and ECC6

    Dear All,
               Can someone please enlighten me about the diff between R/3 ECC5 and ECC6?
    Thanks,
    Ashish

    May be there are lot of differences but broadly:
    the Inclusion of Netweaver Components happened from 4.t to ECC5.0 and ECC 6.0
    In ECC 5.0 the component versions of netweaver are of different versions but in ECC6.0 all componet versions of netweaver are same and latest.
    Unicode is another important thing for ECC6.0 and 5.0
    AP ECC 5.0 is part of SAP ERP 2004---- which runs on SAP NetWeaver 2004
    SAP ECC 6.0 is part of SAP ERP 2005 (mySAP 2005)--- runs on SAP NetWeaver 2004S
    Main difference is application components and availability of new features.
    for new features/changes in core modules like FI, MM etc.. e.g GL function is new in ECC 6.0..

    Hi,
    In ERP 6.0 we can simulate the result of an online split, which can be previewed and analyzed before a document is posted. I think this is not available in mySAP ERP 2004. In ERP 6.0 there are enhanced interfaces and integration with public sector, contract accounting, human capital management, travel management, and material ledger transfer prices. Most of the new functionality in ERP 6.0 is supported in 2004 version of SAP ERP with support package 10.

  • Difference between ALV and Table control

    Hi folks,
    i want to know the major differences between AlV and table controls.
    i know that table control is designed in screen painter, but i want to know the major diff between Table control and ALV.
    helpful answers will be rewarded.
    Regards,
    Naveen

    Hi Naveen,
    Basically ALV is a way to display the output and Table Control is designed in screen painter through which you can get entries in Table Control, can delete some records etc for further processing and  its not use only for Display.
    <b>ALV is Application List viewer:-</b>
    Sap provides a set of ALV (ABAP LIST VIEWER) function modules which can be put into use to embellish the output of a report. This set of ALV functions is used to enhance the readability and functionality of any report output. Cases arise in sap when the output of a report contains columns extending more than 255 characters in length.
    In such cases, this set of ALV functions can help choose selected columns and arrange the different columns from a report output and also save different variants for report display. This is a very efficient tool for dynamically sorting and arranging the columns from a report output.
    <b>TABLE CONTROL:-</b>
    ABAP offers two mechanisms for displaying and using table data in a screen. These mechanisms are table controls and step loops. Table controls and step loops are types of screen tables you can add to a screen in the Screen Painter.
    Rewards if useful.

  • Difference between STATIC and FLOW CONTROL in IKM

    Hello,
    Can someone explain the difference between STATIC and FLOW control in IKM ? What is the best situation to use them with some example ?
    Can we have more than one ODI Constraint at the target table.
    Thanks
    Edited by: cdmnagaraj on 19-Oct-2008 21:59

    Hi Nagaraj,
    Suppose your Lookup table -> column "VALUE" is 101.
    How many rows in your source table (column) have "Balance" = 101 ??
    I hope only One.
    From your Source table all the recors will be moved to your I$ . then from your I$ it will check for the condition
    and all the violated records will be moved to your E$
    please check your "Insert CK Errors" from your operator
    it will be like this....
    insert into E$_TargetTable
         ERR_TYPE,
         ERR_MESS,
         CHECK_DATE,
         ORIGIN,
         CONS_NAME,
         CONS_TYPE,
         col1,
         col2,
         balance
    select
         'F',
         sysdate,
         '(3367100)TESTPROJECTS.TestTable',
         'conditionTest',
         'CK',
         col1,
         col2,
         balance
    from     I$_TargetTable CHI
    where     not      (
              Balance = (Select value from LOOKUP)
    So in your case it will check for balance not equal to 101 . and it will push those records into your E$ table

  • Difference between ECC5.0 and SAP 4.7 (ABAP developer point of view)

    dear experts,
    can anyone tell me the mian difference between ECC5.0 and SAP 4.7 from an abap developer view point.
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
    From an ABAP perspective, there are not many changes, but addition of new classes, methods etc.
    Please refer to the link - http://solutionbrowser.erp.sap.fmpmedia.com/
    The above link tells about both of the versions.
    For more information, you can refer to release notes of ECC 5.0.

  • Difference between ok_code and sy-ucomm

    Hi,
    Can any one tell me the difference between ok_code and sy-ucomm

    Hi,
    Actually OK_CODE and SY-Ucomm are the same. But experts suggest use of OK code for following reason:
    In each PAI event that a user triggers by choosing either a pushbutton on the screen or an element in a GUI status, the corresponding function code is placed into the system field SYST-UCOMM or SY-UCOMM and placed in the OK_CODE field (as long as the function code is not empty). Empty function codes are placed in neither the SY-UCOMM field nor the OK_CODE field.
    In your ABAP programs, you should work with the OK_CODE field instead of SY-UCOMM. There are two reasons for this: Firstly, the ABAP program has full control over fields declared within it, and secondly, you should never change the value of an ABAP system field. However, you should also always initialize the OK_CODE field in an ABAP program for the following reason:
    In the same way that the OK_CODE field in the ABAP program and the system field SY-UCOMM receive the contents of the corresponding screen fields in the PAI event, their contents are also assigned to the OK_CODE screen field and system field SYST-UCOMM in the PBO event. Therefore, you must clear the OK_CODE field in the ABAP program to ensure that the function code of a screen is not already filled in the PBO event with an unwanted value. This is particularly important when the next PAI event can be triggered with an empty function code (for example, using ENTER). Empty function codes do not affect SY-UCOMM or the OK_CODE field, and consequently, the old field contents are transported.

  • Difference between void and null?

    wht is da difference between void and null w.r.t java?

    corlettk wrote:
    Why do you care, unless you're implementing a java compiler or JVM?Wow, you sure do suck at helping out in a forum. Why even make this post? You're not helping the OP any, and you made yourself look like a tool.
    To the op:
    Null is java's version of a null value. Java's version is more strict then many other languages, and will not work in a boolean expression or anywhere code expects a real and not null value. It's simply null.
    Void is java's way of declaring no return type on a method. Methods that are void take no 'return' statement and if one is provided will cause a fatal error. The exception to this is using 'return' without a value, which returns control to the caller of the method.
    Observe:
    //this method returns an int
    public int return_int(){
        int value = 5;
        return value;
    //this method does not return an int
    public void return_nothing(){
        int another_value = 123;
        System.out.println("Here's the value: " + return_int());
    //this method does not return anything
    public void nothing_returned(){
        return_nothing();
        return;
        System.out.println("This line never gets printed; the method returned control already!");
    }

  • What is the Difference Between Adapter and Proxy

    Hi Master,
    I want to know the Difference Between Adapters and Proxies.
    And when we are using proxies and Adapters....
    Regards,
    SReddy

    Adapters are part of the Adapter Framework. Adapters provide the technical connectivity to enable the integration of SAP and non-SAP applications through XI’s Integration Engine.Again, Adapters are used for connectivity from and to external systems with XI that cannot communicate via proxies.Adapters are only required in SAP systems older than 6.20 and external systems.
    Systems based on 6.20or higher can communicate directly with proxies.
    The literal definition of a proxy is an object / process authorized to act for another; an agent or a substitute. In simpler terms, proxies in the XI context are objects used to encapsulate the creation (from a sender system) or parsing of XML (at a receiver system) as well as the communication with the relevant runtime components required to send or receive those messages.
    Proxies are generated from Message Interface in IR.
    The Proxy Runtime controls these objects / processes, and can itself be controlled by the applications it communicates with. The Proxy Runtime currently has the following components available: 1. ABAP Proxy Runtime – Communication using XI or Web Services a. Web Service Runtime 2. Java Proxy Runtime – Communication using XI (J2EE) The objects that the Proxy Runtime then controls are created via Proxy Generation, for both ABAP and Java. In the following sections a ‘client’ proxy is used by an application to send messages outside of the system it resides in (normally to the IS in this context). Conversely, a ‘server’ proxy is used by an application to receive messages from sources outside itself (again, normally the IS in this context).

  • What's the difference between jsp and jsf?

    who can tell me what's the difference between jsp and jsf?
    I'm puzzled when I found some of the technology in jsp is so similar to the ones in jsp( javaserver page)

    Hi,
    Find the difference between JSP and JSF
    1. A developer has more control with JSP, but (should) get easier development with JSF
    2. Event handling is done differently in JSP (HTTP) and JSF (Java)
    3. The UI is designed differently (or should be at least) with JSP (markup) and JSF (components).
    4. The end product should also be defined differently - JSP page versus a JSF application.
    Is this the only thing that is need to make a decision for either or? Probably not. There are other pieces that need to be taken in account when deciding which technology to use - tools support, enough components, type of application etc.... At this point there are not enough JSF components (although there are some interesting projects underway - Ajaxfaces, Myfaces, ADF Faces, and WebChart 3d) and enterprise tools support is still limited to a few tools vendor. Looking at our ADF Faces components they are currently available as early access (not production) and demands for these components are stacking up, literally, outside my office doorstep. Although I would love to make them production - now! - it is not a viable solution since we are still checking features and fixing critical bugs.
    All this combined - not enough enterprise level components in production, lacking tools support etc... - leave customers in a vacuum where the decision is either to continue with JSP, since it is mature and has a wide developer base, or move forward with JSF not sure if the support, or the developers will be there. This is particularly sensitive to customers that need to get started now and be production by summer.
    If you are in this vacuum here are some key points promoting JSF:
    1. Fundamental unit is the Component
    2. Built in event and state management
    3. Component sets can be provided by any vendor
    4. Closer to ASP.Net or Swing development
    5. Choice of UI technology
    6. Scale up (rich clients)
    7. Scale down (mobile devices)
    8. Built into J2EE containers in J2EE 5.0 (tentative)
