Differences between human workflow in SOA Suite or in BPM Suite?

according to:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/soasuite/index-090227.html
both oracle suites have human workflow.
can anyone point out what is the real difference then between this two human workflow components?
if there is non:
can anyone point out big differences between BPM suite and SOA Suite?
regards chris

There are no difference.
BPM Suite 11g is deployed on top of SOA Suite 11g and it uses the Human Workflow of SOA Suite only.
You will see additional functionalities in Human Workflow if you are having a BPM suite instead of SOA Suite like Business Calendar, Protected Flex Fields, Application Roles, AMX functionalities will be enabled by default, etc.

  • What is the difference between Action & Workflow?

    hi,
What is the difference between Action & Workflow?
    regards,
    babu

    Hi,
    Actions
Actions are important for maintaining and improving business relationships. You can schedule and start predefined processes with the Actions component by means of user-definable conditions from transaction and marketing objects.
You can tailor the type and time of actions to the requirements of your customers and the processes in your company. This component enables you to match your service, sales and distribution management, and your campaign management even more closely to customer needs, and, simultaneously, to automate them
In simple words Actions are automatic actions that are configured to occur in business transactions (activity, sales order, quotation etc.) as a result of particular condition like change of status to let us say "in process" from "open".
    Workflow:
The automation of a business process, in whole or part, during which documents, information or tasks are passed from one participant* to another for action, according to a set of procedural rules.
*participant = resource (human or machine)
SAP Business Workflow is the R/3 tool for handling the process automation within R/3 or between R/3 systems and other systems involved in the business process. It is flexible enough to handle ad hoc processes such as the circulation of an electronic document. It is robust enough to handle mission critical process in the production system such as the creation of a material master.
The different R/3 applications supply standard workflows for the commonly occurring processes. Once these workflow templates are activated, they are ready for immediate use. A complete set of workflow tools, including the workflow editor and workflow generation wizard, are provided to enhance these standard workflows or create new workflows. These tools are complemented with transactions for monitoring, tracking and the statistical analysis of the processes.
Because the business process often does not step at the R/3 boundary, various interfaces and third party tools are available for extending the process across systems.

    Hi All,
What is the difference between Windows Workflow Activities And SharePoint Workflow Activities in Workflows?
    Thanks in Advance!

    Hi,
Both are developed with .NET framework, per my knowledge, the biggest difference would be the environment they applied to: one for Windows platform, one for SharePoint platform:

  • Difference between HR workflows and other module workflows

    Hi,
I would like to know the major differences between HR related WF and that of other modules.
    Please lemme know.
    himanshu.

    Hi,
There is not really any difference. Both use the same Business Workflow engine/framework. The actual difference comes from the business content itself. For example in HR you need to be familiar with the infotypes & org. structure etc., and if you know them and you know WF development in general, you should not have too much difficulties developing HR workflows.
Your question is a bit like what is the difference between ABAP and HR ABAP. Well, they are not different, BUT there are some tricks, techniques and knowledge that you should have if you want to be a good HR ABAP developer.

  • Difference between Workflow and Integration Process

    Hi Experts,
Can someone please explain, what is the difference between the workflow and integration process(BPM).
    Thanks
    Sree

    Hi Sree,
    Integration Processes are :-
    --Message based
    --Interface focused
    --Cross component
--Have no support for human interaction
    --Enabled with SAP XI
    Workflows are:-
    --Object based
    --Human focused
    --Intra-application
--Have no support for mapping, routing or message transformations
--Enabled with the SAP Web AS
However, most automated business processes involve a combination of the two.
I hope this clear your doubt.
    Regards.

  • Hardware requirement for BPM Suite

    Hi All,
What are they Hardware requirements for Oracle BPM Suite.
    Regards
    Nasir

    Hi Nasir,
    As per other experts...
There is not much difference between hardware configurations for SOA and BPM.
As BPM 11g works on top of SOA 11g. So just we need a bpm extension.
So as a high ens congiguration u need to have minimum 4GB RAM to work with Jdeveloper with SOA and BPM extenions.
It is advisble to have seperate boxes for all SOA, BPM, DB, OSB servers for better performance.
    Hope this might help u...
also follow the link for 11.1.1.5 installation process that might anwer your question..

  • Does Oracle BPM Suite has an inbuild process for Work Flow Mgmt ?

    HI,
There is an workflow tool in the market known as STAFFWARE. IS oracle BPM Suite has this capability of workflow mgmt. So, is the BPM suite able to replace the Staffware S/W ?

    Hi Dhawal,
If you are refereing to actual implementation of a modelled workflow or process, the short answer is yes. See for example [http://www.oracle.com/technologies/soa/oracle-bpa-suite-datasheet.pdf].

  • What exactly is BPM Suite 11g?

Does anyone know definitely what is in the new 11g BPM Suite? The Oracle web site is clearly no help right now as what it describes is what we got with 10g. Everybody who is working with the new release knows you need to have SOA Suite components so is that included in the price? Do I need to advise clients that they need to buy SOA Suite to run BPM Suite? When you are a small time consultant you don't get Oracle sales people to answer your questions which is why I am hoping I can turn to the forum for some insight.

    Rich
Here's what I confirmed with the Oracle BPM product manager a couple weeks ago about Oracle BPM 11g packaging. I think it coincides with your tread.
You do not have to purchase Oracle SOA Suite when purchasing Oracle BPM 11g. The confusing thing is that both Oracle BPM Suite and Oracle SOA Suite both have three components in common:
    - BPEL
    - Business Rules and
    - BAM (not the BAM that is embedded with Oracle BPM)
Not included in the Oracle BPM Suite, but included with the SOA Suite are (do not install these when installing SOA Suite):
    - Oracle Service Bus
    - CEP
WebLogic Server and Oracle database are not packaged with Oracle BPM Suite and are purchased separately. I've never been on the pricing side of things, but I believe these have always been separately purchased.
All of the components now share a SOA unified runtime environment and JCA infrastructure. You get these if you purchase Oracle BPM Suite even if you do not purchase Oracle SOA Suite.
At design time you use JDeveloper to design artifacts for BPM, BPEL and Business Rules. You get JDeveloper even if you do not purchase Oracle SOA Suite.
At runtime you can use Enterprise Manager to track components. You get Enterprise Manager even if you do not purchase Oracle SOA Suite.

  • WebCenter Suite buyers better off buying BPM Suite?

Just wondering if anyone else who looking to just acquire WebCenter Suite is now looking to acquire it via an Oracle BPM Suite purchase. From what I can tell the copy of WebCenter suite included with BPM Suite is not usage restricted. So for about the same cost as just WebCenter Suite you can also get all the BPM and SOA capabilities via a purchase of BPM Suite plus the pre-requisite SOA Suite and WebLogic Suite purchases.
    Anyone else onto this?

Create a new user oracle and proceed with the installation
    --> useradd -g oinstall oracle
If your are forwarding your GUI using xming or vnc you would need to copy the xauth of root user and set it to oracle
    [server1:root] xauth list
    bangvmpllE.com/unix:11 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 b23d63374fe25a3577751b6b95b2210e
    [server1:root] sudo su - oracle
    [server1:oracle] export DISPLAY=localhost:10.0
    [server1:oracle] xauth add bangvmpllE.com/unix:11 MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 b23d63374fe25a3577751b6b95b2210e

  • Anybody else looking at obtaining licenses via BPM Suite?

Just wondering if anyone else is looking to acquire WebCenter Suite via Oracle BPM Suite. BPM Suite appears to include a copy of WebCenter suite that is not usage restricted. So for about the same cost as just WebCenter Suite you can also get all the BPM and SOA capabilities. Anyone else onto this?

I don't think this is the case based on my previous experience with SOA Suite 11g and BPM Suite 10g. What I have seen in the past is that the support covers all products in the suite. Still, you bring up one more advantage to this licensing path... more support for my $$$

  • SOA Suite 11.1.1.2: Human workflow: custom application: Attachment: getCont

    Hello,
i am building a custom application for the human workflow component in SOA Suite 11.1.1.2.
I am able to add attachments to the created tasks. But when i try to get the contents with the function AttachmentType.getContent(), i always receive a null pointer.
I have looket into the database and there are the entries in a blob in the content-column of the table wfattachment. But there is the contents binary, although i put it to the task Base64Encoded.
Can someone help me to get the contents of the attachments?
Best regards and thanks a lot
    Friedrich

    Thank you.
I must have changed something by accident. I would never had caught that. I reversed the changes in the WebLogic Console and all was right in the world. The app deployed correctly and the Human Task Approval Form worked flawlessly.
I guess I do some things right. ;-)

  • Difference between SOA Suite 64 Bit and SOA Suite 32 Bit

    Hi,
I am new to SOA. I want to install SOA Suite 64 Bit on my laptop which 64 Bit system and has Window 8 64 Bit.
I am curious to know that what is the difference between SOA Suite 64 Bit and SOA Suite 32 Bit.
Are there different installations available for 64 Bit and 32 Bit?
    Or
Installations are same for 64 Bit and 32 Bit but it's only depends on whether JDK is 64 Bit or 32 Bit.
    Thanks,
    Prashant Jain

    Hi Anatoli,
Thank you for your quick response. I really appreciate it.
I can download the latest SOA Suite but still I am curious to know that how can I use the same SOA Suite which I have as 64 Bit.
    Steps may be,
    1. Install JDK 64 Bit.
    2. Install the same weblogic with -D64 option.
    3. Install the rest of the software (most probably downloaded for Window 32 Bit not for generic 64 Bit).
Will this make SOA Suite installation 64 Bit? Apologize if I am keep asking silly questions
    Thanks,
    Prashant Jain
