• Difference between LIS and Lo extraction

Hi,
Wat is the Difference between LIS and LO extraction.
Thanks,
Sanu

HI
One good difference between lis and los is
lis uses transparent tables where as los use cluster tables
ust some infos about LIS flows....
with Plug-In 2001.2 S2xx-Structures have been replaced by Logistics Extraction Cockpit. However, R/3 releases 4.x support S2xx-Structures and Logistics Extraction Cockpit in parallel.
With new LBWE extractors there are a lot of benefits:
- Detailed Extraction: extraction can be deactivated (e.g. Schedule Line Data) leads to leaner extractors with less volume.
- Document Changes: only BW-relevant data changes will be updated (less upload volume).
- LIS-Tables are not updated reduced data volume due to avoided redundancy.
- Update with Batch-Process (V3) -> no load on daily business (but now there are available different delta methods as the direct delta...)
- No LIS-Know How necessary.
- Functional Enhancements easy to be done.
- Central, uniform maintenance tool for logistics applications (LBWE)
- No Delta-Tables (SnnnBIW1/-2) no double update, no double Data-Storage
- A lot of flows are covered: Purchasing,Inventory Controlling, Shop Floor Control, Quality Management, Shipment, Sales, Shipping, Billing, Plant Maintenance, Customer Service,
hope this helps

• Cost difference between PM report MCI8 and IW38 orders cost

Hi Experts!
I have an issue of cost difference between Plant Maintenance total actual cost of orders and Cost analysis report.
Short Text
Cost difference between PM report MCI8 and IW38 orders cost
Long Text
Applied SAP notes 180047 and 112841 for the following error:
Cost is not displaying in MCI8 for every 3 months intervals.
Now this problem has been resolved but got an another error like cost
difference between MCI8 report and IW38 order costs.
Note applied method:-
1). Configured FYV as Z1 with Period update for info structures S61 to
S65, S70, S114 to S116.
2). Regenerate order cost in Tcode OLI5.
3). PMIS: Statistical setup of info structures T.Code u2013 OLPM
For Info Structures which is changed in the configuration SO61-SO65,
SO70, S114-S116.
4). Copy info structures Version &( to Active version 000 T.Code u2013 OLIX,
Select Copy version
For all info Structure SO61-SO65, SO70, S114-S116.
*Steps for Reconstruction*
New another error like cost difference between MCI8 report and IW38
order costs.
Step 1. Transaction- MCI8, Order type - CORR, Period -01.2009 to
12.2009 and execute
Step 2. Drilldown the corrective maintenance order costs into period
wise.
Step 3. Transaction- IW38, Order type Corr, Period -01.2009 to 12.2009,
Currency - EUR and execute
Cost differences: E.g. Example A)
MCI8 IW38
Total costs 8.041,69 5.544,99
of WOs 18 18
So far my view is that, regardless of the selection criteria or the
output layout, predominantly the costs are different.
I would expect that they are equal. And what the right result are,..u2026Iu2019m
not sure.
Regards,
Santhamoorthy

Hello,
Sometimes this difference comes because of the selection period which we are choosing.
Try to run IW38 once with the help of Basic start and basic finish dates of the order.
And after that with the help of the period with the same dates range.
You will get the difference also.
the reason is that whenever any Posting is done in the previous month PM order the system changes the basic start date and when you select the current period and execute IW38 it shows the whole cost incurred on the order including all previous cost.
But in MCI8 it does not happen because MCI8 is run through LIS structures. And in this report only the current month cost will be shown by the system.
I hope you got the idea about differences.
Regards
Naveen

• Difference between Customer Generated Extractors and Generic Extractors

Hi all,
Can anyone please tell me the difference between Customer Generated Extractors and Generic Extractors. I know that for all modules Generic extraction is possible by creating a datasource(RSO2) on top of a table, View or SAP Query in SE11. What are customer generated extractors like LIS, CO/PA and FI/SL.
What kind of extraction is used for FI/AR and FI/AP. To my understanding we have BW Content Extractors. Can anyone explain the extraction method and delta extraction for AR and AP.
Thanks,
Sabrina.

Hi,
Customer generated extractors are running on top of statistics data collection process in R/3. They extract data from statistical tables already available in R/3 and also use the mechanism already provided in R/3 to capture the delta.
For example, PO data goes to statistical table S012 (it is an LIS table) and you can build a generated extractor on top of it. The difference between such extractor and a generic one is the fact that these extractors (eg LIS) use the same mechanism of capturing delta that the statistics table was doing (for example data that goes into S012 is also captured by these generated extractors). Some system tables and structures are generated automatically to support this functionality, you do not have to develop anything for this.
Generic extractors on the other hand simply let you pull data from table/view/query etc. You have to develop code/functionality to support delta capturing for such extractors. If you built a generic extractor on top of S012 (it is a statistical table - LIS), you can pull its data to BW, but you do not have the delta capturing functionality in such case, you will have to code it yourself.
As a thumb rule, you go with the standard/generated extractors, and use generic extractors only if it is necessary to be so.
FI/AR and FI/AP extractors are part of business content (I think) and support delta functionality. To get detailed info on these, you can also look at help documentation -

• Difference between statistical update &document update in V1 or V2

Hi gurus,
i would like to konw difference between statistical update &document update in V1 or V2.Whats purpose of these actually.
thanks in advance.
sankarvas

Hi Shan,
Basically u use these Update types in LIS extraction. V1 stands for Synchronous update and V2 Stands for Asynchronous update.
Usually U use V1 for the time critical Updates and V2 for non-time crtical updates.
Usually u will go for Statistical update at the time of full update or Initialize with delta.

• Difference between planning r/3 and BPS

Hello gurus
Can u please let me know the main difference between planning in R/3 and BW-BPS
komal

Hi,
SAP R/3 planning
1. CO-PA is used to input sales forecasts and production
quantities directly into CO (reporting out of Report Painter
or ABAP)
2. Sales and operational planning can assist with make or buy
planning (reporting out of ABAP or standard SAP R/3 reports)
3. Production planning determines the capacity and your ability
to meet the sales and operational plan (reporting out of ABAP
or LIS)
4. Cost center planning and/or product costing uses planned
activity rates and/or product costs to derive the P&L (reporting
out of standard SAP R/3 reports or ABAP)
5. Possible other plans in PCA, labor in HR, and procurement in
MM (reporting out of various SAP R/3 reporting tools)
BI-IP planning
1. BI-IP is used to input sales forecasts and production quantities
(reporting out of SAP NetWeaver BI)
2. BI-IP can be used for sales and operational planning for make
or buy planning (reporting out of SAP NetWeaver BI)
3. APO’s Demand Planning determines the capacity and your
ability to meet the sales and operational plan (reporting out of
SAP NetWeaver BI)
4. BI-IP performs cost center planning and/or product costing
using planned activity rates and/or product costs to derive the
P&L (reporting out of SAP NetWeaver BI)
5. Possible other plans in BI-IP include profit center, labor, cost
center, and procurement (reporting out of SAP NetWeaver BI)
SAP R/3 pros:
 Has sophisticated allocation functionality
 BPS does not
Consider retraction of BI-IP data to SAP R/3 for allocation
 Offers availability control
 Not available in BI-IP
Allows you to use existing Report Painter/Writer SAP R/3
reports in planning
BI-IP uses SAP NetWeaver BI reports or must retract
data back to SAP R/3 to use existing Report
Painter/Writer reports
BI-IP pros:
Allows you to use master data that does not exist in SAP R/3
For SAP R/3 planning, SAP R/3 master data must be used
Limits your ability to do “what ifs” with nonexistent
master data or hierarchies
Has one interface for all planning and reporting
SAP R/3 has different interfaces for each SAP R/3 module,
thus increasing confusion and training costs
Easier full integration in BI-IP — harder to achieve in SAP R/3
Uses single reporting tool in BI-IP (SAP NetWeaver BI) — SAP
R/3 uses different tools per module
All planning functions are available in BI-IP regardless of
functional area
In SAP R/3, planning functions differ by module or don’t
exist at all
All planning functions are Web-enabled in BI-IP
Some planning functions aren’t Web-enabled in SAP R/3

• Differences between VBAP and S605 (MCSI) - based on incoming orders

Hi experts,
I have a question about the differences between the table vbap and S605 (MCSI) based on incoming orders.
In my case, I display an customer order (VA03) with two order items. Both order items were created last month (10.01.2013).
By way of example:
order item 10: 10.000 EUR net value
order item 20: 15.000 EUR net value
When I execute the transaction MCSI (InfoStructure S605), the relevant sold-to party generates an incoming order in amount of 10.000 EUR in the period 01.2013. So, order item 20 are not generates an incoming order. What ever it is.
If I display the table VBAP, both order items (10 and 20) are existent with the net values (10.000 EUR and 15.000 EUR) and the create date 10.01.2013.
By the way, the order item 20 has not an reason for rejection.
Did anybody already had this kind of problem?
Thanks in advance and best regards
Michael

Hi Michael,
We are talking about a customer SIS (605 is in the customer range name and MCSI is for running customer SIS). For checking it, I suggest some ideas:
1. Check how this SIS is populating S605. Run tcode MCVR for this SO and check the logs.
2. Read carefully this notes and consider them as a checklist:
Note 174141 - SIS: Collective note - Customizing
Note 204130 - SIS update: Collective note
Note 174134 - SIS: Collective note - reorganization
3. Check the values of STAFO in SO tables (VBAK, VBAP,..)
4. Check the updating of S605 with tcode MC26 and check if there are formulas or requirements for the key figures.
I hope this helps you
Regards
Eduardo
PD: I forgot this detail: Check the logs for the update of SIS/LIS in production system. Check also SAP Note 1002904 - Analysis of TMC2P, TMC2Q and TMC2F

• Difference between exits

hi gurus,
what is the difference between
SD user exits
and
Other user exits

Hi,
User Exit is a common terminology and it is not specific to SD...
User exits are hooks in standard SAP code, which allow you to add functionality. The positioning of these exits has been defined by SAP, so often you can't find one where you need it!
The implementation of user exits depends on the module. Some (and more, as you go to later releases) are implemented using CALL CUSTOMER-FUNCTION (see help documentation for this ABAP statement) - these are controlled from transactions CMOD and SMOD - have a look at the online documentation - transaction CMOD, menu Utilities --> Online Manual.
In older areas of SAP code, the exit might be coded using an empty form supplied by SAP. E.g. look at module SAPMV45A. This has many forms beginning USEREXIT_... You can insert your own code in this.
In other areas such as FI or LIS, there are configuration entries which allow calls to external ABAP code.
Up until 4.5, there are field-exits. These are triggered as the first action during a PAI event. They are linked to a field's domain, and can be made global for that domain, or screen specific.
Finally, you may need to make customer specific changes to SAP code. Note that if you choose to do this, SAP will not support the modified code.
What is User Exits and Customer Exits?
Difference between user exits & customer exits:
User exit - A user exit is a three character code that instructs the system to access a program during system processing.
SXX: S is for standard exits that are delivered by SAP. XX represents the 2-digit exit number.
UXX: U is for user exits that are defined by the user. XX represents the 2-digit exit number
Customer exit - The R/3 enhancement concept allows you to add your own functionality to SAP?s standard business applications without having to modify the original applications. SAP creates customer exits for specific programs, screens, and menus within standard R/3 applications. These exits do not contain any functionality. Instead, the customer exits act as hooks. You can hang your own add-on functionality onto these hooks. *-- Mani
The following document is about exits in SAP :-
The R/3 enhancement concept allows you to add your own functionality to SAP?s standard business applications without having to modify the original applications.
SAP creates user exits for specific programs, screens, and menus within standard R/3 applications. These exits do not contain any functionality. Instead, the customer exits act as hooks. You can hang your own add-on functionality onto these hooks.
Types of Exits
There are several different types of user exits. Each of these exits acts as hooks where you can attach or "hang" your own add-ons.
Menu Exits
Menu exits add items to the pulldown menus in standard SAP applications. You can use these menu items to call up your own screens or to trigger entire add-on applications.
SAP creates menu exits by defining special menu items in the Menu Painter. These special entries have function codes that begin with "+" (a plus sign). You specify the menu item?s text when activating the item in an add-on project.
Screen Exits
Screen exits add fields to screens in R/3 applications. SAP creates screen exits by placing special subscreen areas on a standard R/3 screen and calling a customer subscreen from the standard screen?s flow logic.
Function Module Exits
Function module exits add functions to R/3 applications. Function module exits play a role in both menu and screen exits.
When you add a new menu item to a standard pull down menu, you use a function module exit to define the actions that should take place once your menu is activated.
Function module exits also control the data flow between standard programs and screen exit fields. SAP application developers create function module exits by writing calls to customer functions into the source code of standard R/3 programs.
These calls have the following syntax:
CALL CUSTOMER-FUNCTION ?001?.
Field Exits
Field exits allow you to create your own programming logic for any data element in the Dictionary. You can use this logic to carry out checks, conversions, or business-related processing for any screen field. Example: The data element BBBNR identifies a company?s international location number. You might want to set up your R/3 System so that all international location numbers are larger than 100.
The field exit concept lets you create a special function module that contains this logic.
You assign the special function module to the data element BBBNR. You then assign the module to any programs and screens in which users can add new international location numbers. When you activate your field exit, the system automatically triggers your special routine whenever a user enters a company location number.
In 4.6c, you can use "RSMODPRF" program to create field exits.
An example of a user exits :-
MODULE user_exit_0001 INPUT
CASE okcode.
WHEN 'BACK OR EXIT'.
CASE sy-dynnr.
WHEN '100'.
SET SCREEN 0.
LEAVE SCREEN.
WHEN '200'.
Note that you can write any code that satisfy your needs.
But in this case, this was wrote as a sample code for reference sake.
And you can test it
SET SCREEN 100.
LEAVE SCREEN.
ENDCASE.
ENDCASE.
A Short Tutorial on User Exits
User exits :
1. Introduction
2. How to find user exits
3. Using Project management of SAP Enhancements
1. Introduction:
User exits (Function module exits) are exits developed by SAP. The exit is implementerd as a call to a functionmodule. The code for the function module is writeen by the developer. You are not writing the code directly in the function module, but in the include that is implemented in the function module.
The naming standard of function modules for functionmodule exits is:
EXIT_<program name><3 digit suffix>
The call to a functionmodule exit is implemented as:
CALL CUSTOMER.-FUNCTION <3 digit suffix>
Example:
The program for transaction VA01 Create salesorder is SAPMV45A
If you search for CALL CUSTOMER-FUNCTION i program
SAPMV45A you will find ( Among other user exits):
CALL CUSTOMER-FUNCTION '003'
exporting
xvbak   = vbak
xvbuk   = vbuk
xkomk   = tkomk
importing
lvf_subrc = lvf_subrc
tables
xvbfa = xvbfa
xvbap = xvbap
xvbup = xvbup.
The exit calls function module EXIT_SAPMV45A_003
2. How to find user exits?
Display the program where you are searching for and exit and search for CALL CUSTOMER-EXIT
If you know the Exit name, go to transaction CMOD.
Choose menu Utillities->SAP Enhancements. Enter the exit name and press enter.
You will now come to a screen that shows the function module exits for the exit.
3. Using Project management of SAP Enhancements, we want to create a project to enahance trasnaction VA01 .
- Go to transaction CMOD
- Create a project called ZVA01
- Choose the Enhancement assign radio button and press the Change button
In the first column enter V45A0002 Predefine sold-to party in sales document.
Note that an enhancement can only be used in 1 project. If the enhancement is already in use, and error message will be displayed
Press Save
Press Components. You can now see that enhancement uses user exit EXIT_SAPMV45A_002. Double click on the exit.

• The Difference Between?

Ok so I believe I know the answer here but asking anyway.
What is the difference between the adobe creative cloud team license vs the adobe creative cloud enterprise license?
is the team licence basically individually licences products per account users?
and is the enterprise one license that covers multiple users at once?
Thanks and sorry for the question but had to verify.

Hi tbirdbrent ,
Thank you for posting on the forums, the answer to your question is as follows.
1) Creative Cloud for teams brings together the very latest Creative Cloud desktop apps, updates and upgrades the moment they’re released, and all of the services and business features your team needs to create their best work and collaborate with their peers. Adobe offers two Creative Cloud for teams plans — you can opt for a complete plan (all apps and services) or a single-app plan such as Photoshop CC (access to one app and select services). With each option, you’ll receive access to the same easy-to-use web-based admin console that allows the administrator to centrally purchase, deploy, and manage all seats across your organization — whether single app or complete — under one membership agreement.
2) Creative Cloud for enterprise is for organizations with large deployments that require centralized provisioning and customized deployment of apps and services. Enterprises also receive enterprise customer support and expert services. Creative Cloud for enterprise also works with Digital Publishing Suite; Adobe Anywhere for video; and Adobe Marketing Cloud, which includes Adobe Experience Manager — all sold separately.
Also, the team licences is not individually licences products per account users and the same goes with the enterprise license.
Thanks,

• What is difference between sy-tabix and sy-index.

SAP Seniors,
Can you please let me know what is difference between sy-index and sy-tabix.
I read the SAP help, it is confusing for me. it looks like both are same from help. please help me.
Thank you
Anitha.

HI,
Here is a brief description of difference between SY_TABIX and SY_INDEX and using them with several conditions.
SY-TABIX
Current line of an internal table. SY-TABIX is set by the statements below, but only for index tables. The field is either not set or is set to 0 for hashed tables.
APPEND sets SY-TABIX to the index of the last line of the table, that is, it contains the overall number of entries in the table.
COLLECT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the existing or inserted line in the table. If the table has the type HASHED TABLE, SY-TABIX is set to 0.
LOOP AT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the current line at the beginning of each loop lass. At the end of the loop, SY-TABIX is reset to the value that it had before entering the loop. It is set to 0 if the table has the type HASHED TABLE.
READ TABLE sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table line read. If you use a binary search, and the system does not find a line, SY-TABIX contains the total number of lines, or one more than the total number of lines. SY-INDEX is undefined if a linear search fails to return an entry.
SEARCH <itab> FOR sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table line in which the search string is found.
SY-INDEX
In a DO or WHILE loop, SY-INDEX contains the number of loop passes including the current pass.
Hope this helps.
Thank you,
Pavan.

• What is difference between sy-index and sy-tabix and where both are using ?

what is difference between sy-index and sy-tabix and where both are using ?

hi nagaraju
sy-tabix is in Internal table, current line index. So it can only be used while looping at the internal table.
sy-index is in Loops, number of current pass. This you can use in other loop statements also (like do-enddo loop, while-endwhile)
SY-INDEX is a counter for following loops: do...enddo, while..endwhile
SY-TABIX is a counter for LOOP...ENDLOOP, READ TABLE...
Here is an example from which you can understand the difference between sy-tabix and sy-index.
Itab is an internal table with the following data in it.
id Name
198 XYZ
475 ABC
545 PQR.
loop at itab where id > 300.
write :/ itab-id, itab-name , sy-tabix, sy-index.
endloop.
My output will be :
475 ABC 2 1
545 PQR 3 2
Sy-tabix is the index of the record in internal table.
sy-index gives the no of times of loop passes.
So, for the first record in the output (475 ABC), 2 is the index of the record in internal table and as it is first time loop pass occured, sy-index value is 1.
