Differences between lrcat and lrdb files with new OS and LR 2?

So I just refurbished my machine by wipping my drives that contain the
operating system (Win XP Pro) and other program files. I did regular backups
of all including the various settings for lightroom and everything else I
could find outside of the backup that LR would do on it's own. Previously,
before this refurbishment, I was using LR 1.4 and just did install LR 2.1. I
hadn't upgraded any of my LR databases as I created a temporary picture
database on another drive just to test drive 2.1. So essentially, I had both
LR 1.4 and LR 2.1 install simutaniously. Didn't have any issues either, but
again, just checking out 2.1 prior to abandoning 1.4. Anyhow, in my new
setup I was just going to go with LR 2.1. Realizing that my catalog files
(.lrcat) would prompt to be updated, I am thinking I am fine. But since
Adobe's LR likes to place files all over the place from 'program files' to
'application data' to 'my pictures', I ended up with what "seems" to be some
duplicates and/or am a bit confused as I am not sure what goes where. I
mean, I think I have it all down as I backed up some items such as the lrdb
files and then brought in some stuff I had backed up before this
refurbishment. All seems fine, but I would rather aviod issues in the
future. So could someone tell me what goes where and their file name(s) and
extensions? And when doing this, what is the difference between the lrcat
and the lrdb files? Seems LR 2.1 doesn't contain or create lrdb files. And
lastly, where are my preview files? When I set the lrcat files to point to
my old setup/stuff, the pictures just take a very quick moment before they
are clear and whatnot. Is it best just to recreate? And lastly, is there a
way for me to test and check to make sure I moved the right things into the
right places and that all is working as it should with the proper files? As
an example, all the folders/files that were here "C:\Documents and
Settings\Mark G\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom" I just copied and wrote
over from my backup prior to the refurbishment and things such as my custom
and downloaded web galleries look fine. Any other thoughts? Sorry for the
long read and thanks for any and all help/input you all can provide.

>And when doing this, what is the difference between the lrcat
>and the lrdb files?
In versions up to and including V1.0, Lightroom catalog files were .lrdb (for Lightroom database). So, if you have already been working with V1.4 you can get rid of any .lrdb files that you may still have.
As regards file locations you could do searches for the following file types:
.lrcat (catalogues and backed-up catalogues)
.lrtemplate (templates and presets)
.agprefs (your preferences file)
previews.ldata (in same folder and with same name as your catalogs)
Lightroom allows you to choose where your catalogs (and associated previews) are stored. It also allows you to specify where Lightroom backs up your catalogs.
Templates and presets are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\YourUsername\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom

  • Office 2013 installed with KB2817430, windowsupdate still finds KB2850036. difference between KB2817430 and KB2850036

    Hi,
I've made a silent Office 2013 installer with /admin and put SP1 MSP's in the updates folder.
After deployment under installed updates it shows: Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2817430) 32-Bit Edition
But when I check for new updates, "ServicePack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2850036) 32-Bit Edition" is ready for download and install.
What is the difference between KB2817430 and KB2850036?
It seems that I cannot download KB2850036 and also integrate it in the silent installation.
Another question: Is the updates folder from Office only for servicepacks? or can I put also updates and patches MSP files in here? If yes then i've got a lot of files with the same name and different files sizes. For example After extracting SP1 I've got
the file "proofsp-en-us.msp" which is 10MB and when extracting another patch also i've got a proof-en-us.msp and is 8MB.
So which one need to go in the updates folder?
    Can anyone help me out?
    thanks

    Hi,
As can be seen from below KB articles, KB2817430 only contains Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Office 2013, whereas KB2850036 also contains Service Pack 1 (SP1) updates for other Office 2013 related desktop products. For example, Microsoft Office 2013
Language Pack, Project 2013, SharePoint Designer 2013, Office Proofing Tools 2013, etc.:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2850036
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2817430
So if you have any of these products on your computer, Windows Update might offer related updates to you.
Regarding the Updates folder issue, you can put any Office software updates in it during the initial installation, such as service packs or hotfixes. A newer patch might make changes to a specific file, you can check the version number of that file, and keep
the newer one in the folder.
Here is the reference you will need:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2011/05/05/using-the-updates-folder-to-deploy-software-updates-with-an-office-2010-installation.aspx
(Note, it was created against Office 2010, however the steps should hold good for Office 2013)

  • Looking for new laptop what are the differences between pro and air? Besides size. Does the air preform like the pro?

Looking for new laptop what are the differences between pro and air? Besides size. Does the air preform like the pro?

The NEW macbook Pro and Air are EXTREMELY close in form factor
The newest macbook Pro is essentially a larger macbook Air with Retina display and options for speed in increasing prices up to an independent graphics and quad core processor.
both Air and new Pro now have PCIe SSD and permanent RAM.
The Air is the lightweight portable form factor, fast to boot and shut down, but with longer battery life than any of the macbook pro in 13"
Now the new macbook Pro and macbook Air are extremely close in form factor and nature.
    both have 802ac wifi
both have permanent RAM, no superdrive
both are slim profiles and SSD
The only real differences now are (in the most expensive Pros) faster processors and quadcore processors and top end model autonomous graphics.
....and of course the retina display
both are now "very good for travel"
Other than features the form factor of the Air and Pro are VERY close now,....so now its merely a matter of features and price more than anything.
You need an external HD regardless of what you get for backups etc.   Drop into an Apple store and handle both and make your choice based on features, such as Retina or non-retina, .... both at a distance now look like the same computer.
The Pro weighs more, ....but nowhere near what it used to just a month ago on the older macbook Pros
The NEW macbook Pro is a different creature entirely than the older macbook Pro, .....the new Pro is thicker than the Air, but id frankly call the NEWEST Pro a "macbook Air with Retina display" , or
Maybe a “macbook Air PRO with Retina display”
Instead of Air VS Pro now,.....its really a smooth transition from Air to pro without comparing say, 2 different creatures, now its like contrasting a horse from a race horse.
Either one in 8gig of RAM (preferably)... the 4gig upgrade costs very little,  the I7 you will notice only 15% faster on heavy applications over the I5, and NOTHING on most APPS.....I5 has longer battery life.
As you see below, the non-Retina 13" AIR is 82% of the Macbook with Retina display in resolution
there is no magical number of pixels per inch that automatically equates to Retina quality.
    http://www.cultofmac.com/168509/why-you-might-be-disappointed-by-the-resolution- of-those-new-retina-display-macs-feature/
A huge internal SSD isnt a game changer for anything, you need an external HD anyway
what you WONT READ on Apple.com etc. is that the larger SSD  are MUCH FASTER due to SSD density

  • Difference between validation and susbstittution with tcodes

hi all can any body tell me about difference between validation and susbstittution with tcodes
    regars
    sravya

    Hi,
    Settting up the FI Validations
You can use additional validation to supplement the existing SAP logic to fit you into your businness needs.
For e.g. to allow postings from company code 0001 to business area AA only.
GGB0 - To maintain the validations
Validation - Enter a validation name e.g. VBUS
Applicaion Area - SAP module e.g. FI
Calling Point - Dependent upon the application area that is selected.
0001 - Document Header - validate enteries at document header, e.g BKPF table
0002 - Line Items - check line item entris within a document, e.g. BSEG table
0003 - Complete Document - check settings for the whole documents.
    e.g. Validation step 001
Allowed company code '0001' to post to business area AA only. 'FI00' checks that line item is from FI.
If checks failed, the error message number 14 is displayed to stop the transaction.
    Prerequisite
    <BSEG> $BUKRS = '0001' AND
    <BKPF> $GLVOR = 'FI00'
    Check
    <BSEG> $GSBER = 'AA'
    Message
Type E No. 14 - Business Area not allowed for company 0001
    Output fields 1 - BSEG - GSBER 2 - BSEG - BUKRS
    3 - 4
OB28 - Define Validations for Posting
CC CallPnt Validation Description Activtn Level
    0001 2 VBUS Business Area Validation 1
Activtn Level - 0 - Not Active 1 - Activated 2 - Activated for all except batch input
GGB4 - Manage the activation of all validations in the SAP system.
    Validations, Substitutions, and Rules
    Purpose
With the validations and substitutions software, you can validate and/or substitute data at the time of entry in the FI-SL System and other SAP Systems.
    Implementation Considerations
You do not need to change the standard system to customize your validations and substitutions. For each installation, you can define exactly which validations and substitutions are necessary to ensure the integrity of your data.
    Features
    Validation
In the SAP System, almost all input values are validated by a program or against tables or master files. Since some types of validations cannot be standardized, you can use FI-SL's validations program to create validations for your system.
With validations, you can check values and combinations of values as they are being entered in the SAP environment. Validation rules are stored in the Rule Manager; as data is entered, the Integration Manager validates the data against the validation rules stored in the Rule Manager. Because data is validated before it is posted, only valid information enters the FI-SL System.
You define validation rules using Boolean logic. When you define a validation rule, the system checks the validation rule to ensure that it is syntactically correct.
You can also define the result of breaking the validation rule. For instance, you can specify that a message is issued but the user can continue processing. You can also force the user to correct the error before processing can continue.
For more information, see Validation or What Are Validations?. For more information on using validations, see Creating a Validation. For more information on Boolean Logic, see Introduction to Boolean Logic.
    Substitution
Substitution rules are stored in the Rule Manager. When data is entered in the system, it is substituted by the Integration Manager. The Integration Manager calls the Rule Manager. Substitution occurs before the data is posted to the FI-SL databases.
You define substitution rules using Boolean logic. When you define a substitution rule, the system checks the substitution rule to ensure that it is syntactically correct.
For more information, see Substitution or What Are Substitutions?. For more information on using substitutions, see Creating a Substitution. For more information on Boolean Logic, see Introduction to Boolean Logic.
    Rules
A rule is a Boolean expression that you can use as a condition, as a check, or in another rule. Rules enable you to refer to frequently used Boolean statements simply by specifying the rule name.
The FI-SL Integration Manager uses Boolean logic. When you use Boolean logic and syntax, you can:
    Validate data
    Substitute data
    Select ledgers for posting
Transfer substitution data to a rollup ledger
    Select report data
The Rule Manager stores the Boolean rules used to analyze data. The Integration Manager calls the Rule Manager and determines whether entered data should be used. If a Boolean statement is true, an action is taken; if a statement is false, no action is taken.
Boolean logic is used in the following FI-SL modules:
    Validation
    Substitution
    Ledger selection
    Report Writer
    Rollups
To use Boolean Logic in one of the functions listed, you create statements that are used as formulas in the FI-SL System. For more information on using Boolean Logic, see Introduction to Boolean Logic or Boolean Logic Statements and Rules.

  • What is the difference between OCIEnvCreate and OCIEnvNlsCreate with utf16

because i find a oci sample code cdemouni.c,in this sample, use OCIEnvCreate with mode set OCI_UTF16,but OCIEnvNlsCreate also can set charset and ncharset OCI_UTF16ID,what is the difference between OCIEnvCreate and OCIEnvNlsCreate with UTF16?

First, OCIEnvNlsCreate() is recommended way of switching to UTF-16 mode.
Second, OCIEnvNlsCreate() uses new semantics for bind and define buffer lengths. With new semantics all lengths are in bytes. With old semantics,
UTF-16 string lengths are in codepoints, while other character sets use bytes.
You can get new length semantics with OCIEnvCreate() as well, by
adding OCI_NEW_LENGTH_SEMANTICS to the 'mode' flags.

And, that's another difference.....whenever there is a software update for the iPhone you get it IMMEDIATELY as there is no "hold" by carriers to tailor it to their own needs, etc., like there is with Android.
Good point about the updates, I believe the Fascinate just got the update that's been out for months already.

  • Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? Difference between Enterprise and SE?

We’re seeing the following issue: sql - Can Oracle be forced to use the spatial index for sdo_filter in combination with an or clause? - Stack Overflow (posted by a colleague of mine) and are curious to know if this behaviour is due to a difference between standard and enterprise, or could we doing something else wrong in our DB config.?
We have also reproduced the issue on the following stacks:
Oracle SE One 11.2.0.3 (with Spatial enabled)
    Redhat Linux 2.6.32-358.6.2.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu May 16 20:59:36 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Microsoft Windows Server 2003R2 Standard x64 Edition
However, the SQL works fine if we try it on Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 *Enterprise* Edition.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Kindest Regards,
    Kevin

In my experience sdo_filter ALWAYS uses the spatial index, so that's not the problem. Since you did not provide the explain plans, we can't say for sure but I think yhu is right: Standard Edition can't use the bitmap operations, and thus it'll take longer to combine the results of the two queries (because the optimizer will surely split this OR up in two parts, then combine them).
BTW: when asking questions about queries here, it would be nice if you posted the queries here as well, so that we do not have to check another website in order to see what you are doing. Plus it will probably get you more answers, because not everyone can be bothered to click on that link. It would also have been nice if you had posted your own answer on the other post here as well, because my recommendation would have been to use union all - but since you already found that out for yourself my recommendation would have been a little late.

iPad apps are designed specifically for the iPad and will not run on the iPhone or iPod Touch. iPhone/iPod apps will run on the iPad, but will only take up an iPhone sized portion of the iPad screen (though you get a 2x button which effectively doubles each pixel in both directions so may appear pixelated). There are also 'universal' apps (which have a '+' symbol against them in the store) which have processing in them to recognise the device that they are on and will tailor the display accordingly (so will make use of the iPad's larger screen).

  • Difference between AAC and m4a files, converting from AAC to useable format

Does anyone know the difference between AAC and m4a files? iTunes has an option to use an AAC encoder to compress CD files, but this creates an m4a file not an AAC file. I just got some actual AAC files and iTunes cannot read these, is there a way to convert from AAC to a format that iTunes recognizes? Thanks

iTunes uses AAC data wrapped in an MPEG 4 container file. If you got some *.AAC files, and they're just raw AAC files, then you need to wrap them in an MPEG 4 container. The only way I know to do this is using the foobar 2000 program. You can find more information at http://www.hydrogenaudio.org and http://www.foobar2000.org

  • Difference between VMI and collaboration with customer

    Hai,
I am trying to understand the difference between VMI and collaborative planning with customer(CPC)
Please correct me if I am wrong. In VMI, a vendor or manufacturer sells his material to customer and through EDI, the customer gives the information such as forecast, stock etc.
In CPC, the vendor and customer interchange information, such as demand, stock levels, promotions, delivery dates etc., based on ITS.
What is the difference between these two?
If I am not wrong, EDI is used for outside company communication andITS for within. So, can I say that VMI is for customer outside the company and CPC for internal customer?
    Thank you.

    Hi Visu,
Service provided by a vendor for a customer, whereby the vendor plans material requirements in the customer's company. Vendor-managed inventory is only possible if the vendor has access to the customer's current stock and sales data.
In the ERP system, the following functions are available for vendor-managed inventory:
Transfer of stock and sales data by EDI
Receipt of stock and sales data by EDI
    Replenishment planning for customers
Creation of a purchase order for an external EDI order acknowledgment
supply chain management tool that synchronizes demand signals and supply chain activities by utilizing Internet technology. Collaborative Planning enables supply chain partners to view, share and synchronize common information within the supply chain.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
Job Status Scheduled means a job has been created and is ready to run but has not yet been triggered.
A release status means the created job has been triggered and is waiting for the opportunity to run. A job can be in released status when it is a periodic Job ( Where once the job is completed it goes to release status), when it is slated for future execution, or when there is a delay due to database overload.
