Differences between NWDS 7.0 & NWDS-CE 7.1

Hello all
I'm going to create a presentation about the difference & changes between "NetWeaver Development Studio 7.0" and "NetWeaver Development Studio 7.1 Composition Environment" to demonstrate them to my work colleages.
Are there any compact resources about this topic on the site, e.g. a list of changes?
Any help appreciated
Regards
Michael

Hello
Thanks for your reply.
I already found this page but it does not list all the differences I experience when using the IDE.
For example I realized that in NWDS 7.0 you have 4 items to add to your view-context. In NWDSCE 7.1 I can see only 2 items (attribute + node). Other examples: There's no "Diagram view" in NWDSCE7.1; no "Implementation" tab; I haven't seen a "Metamodel"-Tab in NWDSCE 7.1...
I'd like to have an overview about these type of changes which - I think - directly address a WD-developer, especially someone who thinks about switching from one version to the other.
So if anyone has any more resources I'd be glad to hear about it.
Anyway, thanks so far
Regards
Michael

  • Difference between NWDS and NWDI

    Hi,
How is NWDS different from NWDI,
Suppose if the same CAF component is simultaneously developed on different machines, can we integrate it into a single component using NWDI

    HI,
Check the above documents to get an better idea.
But in simple words. if you want to compare NWDS with NWDI.
    NWDS workspace = NWDI DTR.
like NWDS plugins NWDI also have diff compartments which holds the same plugins.
like NWDS NWDI also have a compiler.
NWDI is used so multiple developers can work on single dev component.
It gives you two facilities when you start development on single component.
    1. check out : - no of users can check out same file and make the changes..
and other one is more secure .
    2. exclusive check out:- so that only you can make changes in those files.. and other wont be able to make any changes in it.

  • Differences between CAF and NWDS

    Hi all,
I'm reading about CAF and I don't understand the differences between CAF and NWDS. In NWDS you can composite an aplication with services offered by other systems, so I don't understand what CAF offers.
    Regards,

    Hi,
CAF is a Frame work for developing Composite Applications.
CAF consists of two parts: design time and run time.
NWDS provides design time development support.Simply, NWDS is the IDE based on Eclipse.
CAF Server that is Composite Environment Server provides the run time for composite applications.
You can go through the help doc for [Composite Environment |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/ff9fc1d8986c06e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm]so that you can understand easily.

  • What is difference between Portal on NW 7.3 and Portal on NW 7.0 Ehp 2?

I am checking out the features of NW 7.3 (Java server related) and NW 7.0 Ehp 2 (ABAP server / Business Suite related).
If I think about NW 7.3 I am think NWDS, Web Dynpro Java, Visual Composer, Composition Environment, PI, Mobile, Portal etc. so basically everthing that's Java related.
If I think about NW 7.02 I am think Business Suite applications, classic Dynpro,Web Dynpro ABAP, BSP etc. so basically everthing that's ABAP related.
Now that I am reading the features I see Portal in both areas: featurs in NW 7.02 but alos features in NW 7.3?
Are we talking about 2 different kinds of Enterprise Portals? Is there a difference between Enterprise Portal installed in Java environment (so basically the CE Portal) and an Enterprise Portal installed on top of e.g. SAP CRM or ERP?
So when are Portal features NW 7.3 applicable and when are features NW 7.0 EhP x applicable? Or are both applicable and does a Portal have an ABAP based piece and a Java based Piece???
    kind regards,

    Hi,
to be honest - this is nothing a forum should clarify about. You are asking for the universe. Obviously the architecture is completely unknown by you so take a look at help.sap.com and start with architectural things. This also explains where the portal is located and if there is java and abap or not.
Regarding release cycle: for the portal it works like for all other netweaver components. In 7.02 you have a 7.02 portal while in 7.3 you have a 7.3 portal. Its the same application just a new release with new features.
By the way: features and so on are also described at help.sap.com including the new ones for every release and stack.
Be aware of the fact that there is also a huge difference in CE and non-CE installation (I'm sure you already know - see help.sap.com).
I close this thread for now. If there is some detailed question - feel free to ask.

  • Difference between EP Development Consultant vs EPTechnology consultant

I heard that there is a different designation for EP consultant.
    1.EP Development consultant
    2.EP Technology Consultant
whats the main difference between these two .What are role responsibilties and area of concern for both

    Hi,
NWDS provides a full-fledged J2EE development environment. So you can develop applications based on JSPs/JAVA Beans/JDBC/etc. All you need to do is to deploy these applications on the J2EE server and then configure the Portal to call these up.
The Portal can display much more than iViews, such as Web Dynpro apps, ITS pages, JSPs, etc. If the existing iViews are not fulfilling customer requirements, then you can decided to create your own. PCD has both standard and custom iViews.
The PCD is a repository of all your portal content. Imagine a website like service.sap.com . It has so much content to present ranging from product info, downloads, trainings, customized pages, discussion forums, etc. How do you manage so much content without a content repository. So the PCD is at the heart of your Portal deployment as far as the content is concerned.
    Hope this helps.

  • Difference between the SAP Mobile Infrastructure and SAP NW MOBILE7.1

Hello everyone, could you tell me what's the difference between the SAP Mobile Infrastructure http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/a7/893a5889e08b41b615688b1a93b559/frameset.htm and SAP NETWEAVER MOBILE 7.1 http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/nw-mobile-tools;jsessionid=(J2EE3417800)ID0940784850DB22002277755496926773End ? I have to develop a mobile application and I have studied the MDK 2.5 here http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/21eba3a7-0601-0010-b982-92f1fca3258a&overridelayout=true ,  but now I have come to doubt whether I have done well to study MDK 2.5 for my purpose.

    Hi,
We have this answer in many other threads..
Mobile infrastructure (MI 2.5 / MI 7.0) is the older release of mobile. The latest version of mobile is NW Mobile 7.1 which comes with a total architectural change, provides better scalability and has advantages in many other areas like better modeling, monitoring options , faster device synchronization time etc.
Netweaver mobile constitutes of server (DOE) and a default client framework (Netweaver mobile client) .
Mobile application could be created using NetweaverDeveloper Studio(NWDS) that will present the data required by the mobile device user.
This mobile application once deployed on a device will work on the local persistency and during synchronization with DOE sends the modified/new data to Backend via DOE.
Customers can also develop a custom client framework and application that still talks to DOE (and inturn to backend)
NW mobile 7.1 could be used to build mobile applications suiting offline and onlines scenarios.
In few words to mobilize enterprise solutions
SAP R/3 will act as backend
---talks to DOE through remote enabled BAPI Wrappers ---
NW mobile will be middleware that does the data orchestration
Upon Synchronization of mobile device with DOE using a messaging protocol over http(s)
Receivers could be devices with client application installed / another server.

  • The Difference Between?

Ok so I believe I know the answer here but asking anyway.
What is the difference between the adobe creative cloud team license vs the adobe creative cloud enterprise license?
is the team licence basically individually licences products per account users?
and is the enterprise one license that covers multiple users at once?
Thanks and sorry for the question but had to verify.

    Hi tbirdbrent ,
Thank you for posting on the forums, the answer to your question is as follows.
    1) Creative Cloud for teams brings together the very latest Creative Cloud desktop apps, updates and upgrades the moment they’re released, and all of the services and business features your team needs to create their best work and collaborate with their peers. Adobe offers two Creative Cloud for teams plans — you can opt for a complete plan (all apps and services) or a single-app plan such as Photoshop CC (access to one app and select services). With each option, you’ll receive access to the same easy-to-use web-based admin console that allows the administrator to centrally purchase, deploy, and manage all seats across your organization — whether single app or complete — under one membership agreement.
    2) Creative Cloud for enterprise is for organizations with large deployments that require centralized provisioning and customized deployment of apps and services. Enterprises also receive enterprise customer support and expert services. Creative Cloud for enterprise also works with Digital Publishing Suite; Adobe Anywhere for video; and Adobe Marketing Cloud, which includes Adobe Experience Manager — all sold separately.
Also, the team licences is not individually licences products per account users and the same goes with the enterprise license.
    Thanks,

  • What is difference between sy-tabix and sy-index.

    SAP Seniors,
Can you please let me know what is difference between sy-index and sy-tabix.
I read the SAP help, it is confusing for me. it looks like both are same from help. please help me.
    Thank you
    Anitha.

    HI,
Here is a brief description of difference between SY_TABIX and SY_INDEX and using them with several conditions.
    SY-TABIX
Current line of an internal table. SY-TABIX is set by the statements below, but only for index tables. The field is either not set or is set to 0 for hashed tables.
APPEND sets SY-TABIX to the index of the last line of the table, that is, it contains the overall number of entries in the table.
COLLECT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the existing or inserted line in the table. If the table has the type HASHED TABLE, SY-TABIX is set to 0.
LOOP AT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the current line at the beginning of each loop lass. At the end of the loop, SY-TABIX is reset to the value that it had before entering the loop. It is set to 0 if the table has the type HASHED TABLE.
READ TABLE sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table line read. If you use a binary search, and the system does not find a line, SY-TABIX contains the total number of lines, or one more than the total number of lines. SY-INDEX is undefined if a linear search fails to return an entry.
SEARCH <itab> FOR sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table line in which the search string is found.
    SY-INDEX
In a DO or WHILE loop, SY-INDEX contains the number of loop passes including the current pass.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Pavan.

  • What is difference between sy-index and sy-tabix and where both are using ?

what is difference between sy-index and sy-tabix and where both are using ?

    hi nagaraju
sy-tabix is in Internal table, current line index. So it can only be used while looping at the internal table.
sy-index is in Loops, number of current pass. This you can use in other loop statements also (like do-enddo loop, while-endwhile)
    SY-INDEX is a counter for following loops: do...enddo, while..endwhile
SY-TABIX is a counter for LOOP...ENDLOOP, READ TABLE...
Here is an example from which you can understand the difference between sy-tabix and sy-index.
Itab is an internal table with the following data in it.
    id Name
    198 XYZ
    475 ABC
    545 PQR.
loop at itab where id > 300.
    write :/ itab-id, itab-name , sy-tabix, sy-index.
    endloop.
    My output will be :
    475 ABC 2 1
    545 PQR 3 2
Sy-tabix is the index of the record in internal table.
sy-index gives the no of times of loop passes.
So, for the first record in the output (475 ABC), 2 is the index of the record in internal table and as it is first time loop pass occured, sy-index value is 1.

  • Difference between sy-index & sy-tabix

    Dear friends,
Please tell me the difference between sy-index & sy-tabix
Actually my problem is i don't know how to compare for example between first record'field n and second record'field n when u r in loop so i can take particular action based on result
    on current recor
if possible send me sample code.
    Regards;
    Parag Gavkar.

    SY-TABIX:
Current line in an internal table. With the following statements SY-TABIX is set for index tables. With hashed tables, SY-TABIX is not filled or it is set to 0.
    - APPEND sets SY-TABIX to the index of the last table row, that is the total number of entries in the target table.
    - COLLECT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the existing or appended table row. With hashed tables, SY-TABIX is set to 0.
    - LOOP AT sets SY-TABIX to the index of the current table row at the beginning of every loop pass. After leaving a loop, SY-TABIX is set to the value it had before entering the loop. With hashed tables, SY-TABIX is set to 0.
    - READ TABLE sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table row read. If no row is found with binary search while reading, SY-TABIX contains the index of the next-highest row or the total number of rows +1. If no row is found with linear search while reading, SY-TABIX is undefined.
    - SEARCH itab FOR sets SY-TABIX to the index of the table row, in which the search string was found.
    SY-INDEX:
SY-INDEX contains the number of loop passes in DO and WHILE loops, including the current loop pass.

    When is each used?

Null means, the referential type is not assigned (doesn't refer) to a specific object. The empty String is just another object though, so seeing it or pointing it out as something special when it actually isn't at all (no more special than new Integer(0) or new Object[0]) just adds to the confusion.

  • Blends: Difference between open and closed paths modifying spine

Okay, just had a discovery today about the blend tool.
The difference between closed paths and open paths is critical when you want to modify a blend spine, such as make it curve. Between open paths, there is no spine shown when a blend is created. Ever notice this? Between closed paths, there is a spine, which can be modified, such as making it curved. Now, the trick is how to modify a spine with open paths when there is no spine shown. Found out today that starting with a closed path, segments can be deleted to make the path open, then the spine can be modified and the open path state maintained!
This is a huge bug in Illustrator and makes no sense to me. Wanting Adobe to fix this in the next major release. Hope this helps anyone struggling with this issue.

One thing you should be aware of concerning open ended splines:
It makes an enormous difference as to how the blend behaves whether the endpoints have handles or not.
Give them handles and you will find that you can alter the distribution of the blend objects just by adjusting the handles or by dragging on the spline itself.
    Give it a try.
