Differences between releases

Hi,
I4m new at Portal.
I4m about to develop under Oracle8iAS, but have big chances to migrate to Oracle9iASI- Version 3.0.9.8.2. ..or R2
I 4m looking for information about differences between the 3 mentioned versions, to help me decide whether to do the migration rigth now, or start development with my actual Portal.
Please, can anyone help me with this?
What would I gain on migrating to 3.0.9.8.2? And to R2?
Thanks a lot,

Hi Ana,
There is no Oracle8iAS in the Oracle Product Stack. There is a Oracle 9iApplication Server that integrates and supports a number of functions to develop, deploy and manage applications. The Oracle Portal is one of the core components of the Oracle9iAS. Our current release of the Application Server is 9iASRelease2 and Portal Version is 9.0.2. The previous version of the Application Server Oracle9iAS 1.0.2.2 included Portal 3.0.9. With, the current version of 9iASR2, Portal has been tightly integrated with components such as the WebCache, leveraging other components such as Oracle Reports and using OC4J. I would recommend the following whitepaper on portalcenter.oracle.com.
http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/OTN_CONTENT/MAINPAGE/KEYFEATURES_BENEFITS/PORTAL_V2_TWP_FINAL.PDF
Hope that helps. If you have further questions, please repost to this forum.

  • Difference between Release DP to SNP and Release profile

    Hi Experts,
What is the difference between Release DP to SNP
And maintain Release profile. Can u suggest am lot of confusion about these?
    Explain in brief.
    prasad

    Hi Prasad,
Aparna point is absolutely correct. From usage point of view, date is the only difference.
There are 2 options to release forecast from DP to SNP.
    1. Demand Planning -> Planning  -> Release -> Release to Supply Network Planning.
    2. By creating Rlease profile, activity , planning job, etc
1 is used for online purpose & for few product/location combinations. However 2 is used for the mass processing.
Use 1 to release a limited amount of data (a few product / location combinations only) from Demand Planning to Supply Network Planning. Do not use it for mass releases, for example large planning books.
If you try to release too much data with this transaction, memory problems are likely, since the system tries to read all the data
simultaneously. For mass processing, use 2 - Releasing the Demand Plan with Mass Processing.
Decision is based on data volume & performance.
    Hope this helps.

  • Is there any actual difference between Release, Debug and Debug Local configurations in SSRS project?

Is there any actual difference between Release, Debug and Debug Local configurations in SSRS project?
For example in VC++ Debug build would have all optimization turned off (by default) and included additional Debug information in executable.
Since there is no executable produced for SSRS - is there any actual difference between configurations? Or are they only for the purpose of deploying to different destination servers?

    Hi JoeSchmoe115,
The Project Configuration and Configuration Manager is a feature supported by Visual Studio, on which Business Intelligence Development Studio or SQL Server Data Tools is based. We can use Configuration Manager to create and manage sets of project properties
in project configurations. You are right that the project configurations is only for deployment purpose in a Report Server project.

  • Difference between release for Transport and Export

    Hi,
can anybody tell me the difference between the release for Transport of a change list and the Export Design Object ? When a change list is released is it not possible to select File System as mode or CMS ?
    Thx.

These relate to how your transport system is configured.
If you use FTP you cannot release for transport, and if you have CMS, I don;t beleive you can FTP.

  • Difference between release 7.0.235.3 and 7.3.101.0

    Hello Community
We have bought an 2504 Wirless Controller and now i want to download the newest Software, actually the Wireless Controller runs release 7.2.103. In the download section from cisco i've found two "latest versions" the 7.0 with release date from 11.09.2012 and the other 7.3 with the release date 30.08.2012. Now i'm a bit confused about this, because the higher release has an lower release date :S
Can you tell me the difference between this versions? and which version i should install?
Thank you very much for your response!
    Best regards
    Kevin

No.. the older WLC's 2106, 4400's and WiSM's can only support up to 7.1.x.  The 2504, 5508, 7500, 8500, WiSM2 can support all the new codes from 7.2 to 7.3 an newer.
You can put 7.0.x, 7.2.x and or 7.3.x on the 2504.  It depends on what features you want and the ap that is supported of the various versions.  All this info is in the release notes.

  • What is the difference between Release process and Prchase order process?

Like both processes are used to replenish, but than whats the need of both the processes. One of the process can be used to come up with request.Correct me if i am wrong.Kindly explain with an example

    Hi Nandan,<br>
In purchase Order we have fixed date , quantity  and schedule on which supplier has to deliver the items .<br>
    Example:PO with Item A:<br><br>
    to be deliver on 12-May-2010 20 quantity<br><br>
    to be deliver on 12-Jun-2010 40 quantity<br><br>
In Release process we have quantity/price schedule agreement of item between supplier and customer.it specifies certain amount of quantity of the products that a supplier is to deliver to the customer in a specific time period. Customer uses MRP run at regular intervals and determines what exact requirement quantities are to be released from the scheduling agreement on certain dates.this schedule lines then releases to SNC to inform supplier about current demand<br><br><br>
In schedule agreement schedule lines have the following status :<br><br>
1)Fixed dates and quantities:Quantity and date of the schedule line are fixed and will remain unchanged. The schedule line belongs to a delivery-relevant release. The supplier can deliver the quantity without waiting for another acknowledgement or the customeru2019s request.<br><br>
2.Production and material go-ahead:The schedule line belongs to a forecast delivery schedule that is not relevant for delivery and is in the production go-ahead period. The supplier can, therefore, procure the materials for manufacturing the ordered products and start with production. If the customer cancels a schedule line, the supplier can invoice the material and production costs.<br><br>
3.Material go-ahead:The schedule line belongs to a forecast delivery schedule that is not relevant for delivery and is within the material go-ahead period. The supplier can, therefore, procure the materials that s/he requires for production. If the customer cancels a schedule line, the supplier can invoice for the material costs. <br><br>
4.Preview:The schedule line belongs to a forecast delivery schedule that is not relevant for delivery. The schedule line is not binding and may possibly change. The supplier can use the data for his or her own planning, however.<br><br>
Exmaple:We have schedule agreement of 1000 quanity for Item A and time period start date:30-Apr-2010 end date:1-May-2011<br><br>
Customer runs MRP/planning from he gets following schedule line with status as mention above<br><br>
quanti ty 100 with schedule line status Fixed dates and quantities which means Quantity and date of the schedule line are fixed and will remain unchanged. The schedule line belongs to a delivery-relevant release. The supplier can deliver the quantity without waiting for another acknowledgement or the customeru2019s request.<br><br>
quanti ty 200 with schedule line status Production and material go-ahead which means schedule line belongs to a forecast delivery schedule that is not relevant for delivery and is in the production go-ahead period. The supplier can, therefore, procure the materials for manufacturing the ordered products and start with production. If the customer cancels a schedule line, the supplier can invoice the material and production costs.<br><br>
quanti ty 300 with schedule line status .Material go-ahead which means schedule line belongs to a forecast delivery schedule that is not relevant for delivery and is within the material go-ahead period. The supplier can, therefore, procure the materials that s/he requires for production. If the customer cancels a schedule line, the supplier can invoice for the material costs. <br><br>
quanti ty 500 with schedule line status Preview which means The schedule line belongs to a forecast delivery schedule that is not relevant for delivery. The schedule line is not binding and may possibly change. The supplier can use the data for his or her own planning, however.<br><br>
Note that total quantity of product is 1000.,Depending upon schedule line supplier can plan his/her activity.<br><br>
Summary: In Purchase order supplier has to deliver fix amount of quantity on fixed date and time to the customer .
In Release process supplier can deliver the product depending upon schedule line status as mention above so advantage  of using release process we fixed period and fix quantity  in that period  customer can send his demand to supplier whenever customer requires in schedule agreement time period.<br><br>

  • What's the difference between AIA 3.0 and AIA FP 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0)

    Hi, experts,
Have a question need your great help and clarification, you know we have Oracle AIA Foundation Pack 2.5 based on SOA 10.1.3.4 installation, the new release for SOA has been released on this version Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g R1 (11.1.1.4.x) Released the other day, within this version, we have a Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0) based on SOA11g.
    My questions are as below
    1) What's difference between AIA 3.0 and Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0)?
    2) We know, on the top of AIA 2.5, we have Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.2.0) and Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0), doesn't mean that the Foundation Pack 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.4.0) has another nickname that is AIA3.0?
    3) Does anyone provide AIA 3.0 installation and implementation guide?
Appreciated if you could provide some suggestions or comments based on above question, thanks in advance!

    Please see the answers below...
#1 . AIA 3.0 is internal project name, AIA 11g R1 is an official release which is 11.1.1.2.0, then after two patch sets released they are 11.1.1.3.0 and 11.1.1.4.0
#2 hope the above answered your question.
#3 AIA 11g R1 x install and developer guides available on OTN.

  • What is the newest GTS/GRC Release? Where is the difference between GRC/GTS

    Hi Folks,
I am glad cause I found this forum.
What is the newest GTS Release?
I am a bit confused cause I saw
GTS 7.1 must be the newest.
But also there is a GRC 8.0 but I think this is not a GTS this is a GRC only for Governance
    G = Governance R = Risk C = Compliance.
Where is the difference between GRC and GTS?
Hope you can bring some light into this shelter.
    Regards
    Dieter

Actually it is GRC GTS 8.0.
But there will be soon GRC GTS 10.0
As you see the "full" name is GRC GTS.
But there are also some other GRC solutions.
As far as i know GRC is a more strategic tool. Eg. to get AEO Certificate or to minimize risk of a compay.
GTS is used for the daily foreign trade business (import/export/SPL,trade preference).

  • What is the primary difference between Debug and Release build?

I'm coming from the world of VS, where there's a clear distinction between a Release and Debug builds. In Xcode I can't seem to see how two are different and how would I benefit from, say, a Debug build. Can someone explain this for me?

The differences between the Xcode debug and release builds are similar to the differences you'll find on any other system, though the Xcode interface might not present them as obviously. Basically, a debug build preserves all kinds of information that was developed during compilation but is no longer necessary at runtime. The presence or absence of this information (e.g. symbol tables and mappings which provide the original name of each source code variable and the source code line number corresponding to each instruction), becomes increasingly obvious as you use gdb and other debugging tools.
We normally would never want to release a debug version (in the iOS case, of course, it would never be accepted) because the binary is usually much larger and the performance will probably be compromised as well. For example, a typical debug build will have many perfomance optimizations turned off because these can make debugging more difficult. It's also common to enable "assert" statements in a debug version. These will bring the program down rather than giving the user any options or attempting recovery.
For more info specific to Xcode, see [Build Configurations|http://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/DeveloperTo ols/Conceptual/XcodeBuildSystem/400-BuildConfigurations/build_configs.html#//appleref/doc/uid/TP40002692-SW7] in the +Xcode Build System Guide+. To get into lower level details, refer to the gcc docs, maybe starting with [3.9 Options for Debugging Your Program or GCC|http://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Debugging-Options.html]. You might also want to take a look at your Target Build Options for the Debug configuration (Project->Set Active SDK->Use Base SDK and Project->Edit Active Target->Build). There's a one-to-one mapping between many of these settings and the gcc options.
    \- Ray
p.s.: Didn't mean to repeat Xnav's points. As usual, I was still editing long after he posted! To clarify one difference: Selecting the Edit Active Target menu item gets you to the same place as double clicking on the icon for the active target in the Targets group of the Groups & Files tree. - R

  • Where is the difference between Positive Liste and BP Release in SPL?

    Hi Folks,
Where is the difference between setting a Business Partner on a
Positive or Negative List and release or block a business partner in SPL?
I thought that should be almost the same. Hope you can clarify it.
    Thanks
    Regards
    Dieter

    Hi Dieter,
    The difference is the following:
If you put a partner on a negative or positive list it no longer gets screened. so, unless you screen the positive or negative list explicitly, the partner is no longer screened, and of course the one on the positive list is never blocked and the other one always free.
If you release a Partner the Partner then the following happens (depending on the customizing).
    1. If you do not have set the memory function in the customizing then the partner stays unblocked until you launch a new screening run and, if it gets hit against a list entry, it will be blocked again
    2. If you do have the Memory function ticked in the customizing then the partner gets screened and released when you do a screening run (in contrary to the positive and negative list it does get screened, but automatically released). But if there is a new or changed entry that matches with the released partner, the partner gets blocked.

    Marc

  • Difference between Build and Release Build

    Hi,

I googled on the same but could not find anything constructive which can explain the exact difference between the two builds.
